Hardetayour: Never ever put Henry and Auba in the same sentence again. Ever and ever. Henry had everything. The pace, the skills, the finishing, the strength to go with it. Aubameyang has a better strike rate than Henry. |

Fkhalifa: Özil has proven his class everywhere he has been. In fact, Mesut Özil remains the only player to have been the top assist provider in: Bundesliga La Liga Premier league Champions league Europa league European championships World cup
Mr. Consistent
I saw the above on a watsaap GC, if the info there is true, don't we think ozil's criticism have gone over the bar?
I think the guys lack of pace and strength in him and around him makes him struggle in English football. Only untrained eyes would ignore Ozil's contribution in a game. Ozil typically is the kind of player that actually contributes little but those little contributions usually have huge significance. Again one stat people especially Mumu pundits ignore is the fact that Ozil actually is among the highest in distance covered. |

I agree 352 will suit Auba and laca., and it will be even better if either of them can be Henri like on the ball. lol @ sexy boys |

raumdeuter: When your penalty get parried and someone scores the rebound that's counted as an assist for the shooter
These are basic football knowledge that continue to elude you If it was parried then it is not an assist. But you can pass a penalty within the game. |

KevinDein: Maybe Emery intends to slowly ease him into the team. In any case Torreira's performance so far should see him start games; but along with Xhaka in place of Guendouzi. The kid is very talented and has the potential to be a great midfielder one day but he lacks positional discipline at the moment. He could pair with Guendouzi or Xhaka, but he needs to start. I feel Emery is showing respect to Xhaka being one of his 5 captains. But it could cost him. Xhaka is a decent player though in the right set up. That is why I say play 352, let the wingbacks do the running while he sits to defend and pass the ball up, which he is quite good at. |

patrickmuf: If you must play two CF, then you should have flying wingers and two very good CMs with ability to defend and pass the ball effortlessly e.g Modric and Kante but you don't have such quality wingers in Arsenal so, playing 2 CFs is like harming yourself... As for Henry's goal at the Bernabeu, it wasn't all pace as you think, it takes a special skills to move with the ball at pace, Auba has pace but he would struggle to score that goal every day... You got it spot on. To play two CFs you need wingers. In fact, Wenger has used two CFs till he lost his senses. Henry-Bergkamp, Henry-Kanu, Henry - Wilford, etc. But you can also use wingbacks.. this is modern day football. I have always felt Emery should play a 3-5-2. It covers our strengths and weaknesses. Fkhalifa can see that two CFs is possible. As for Henry, I have never argued he isn't a better player than Auba. And the goal against Madrid was a beauty. But that is a one off. Even that was pace at work not skills. |

KevinDein: Unai Emery is smart enough to know when to start both Auba and Lacazette. Against the better teams he'll must likely go with a lone striker and an extra midfielder. He tweaks his system to fit the opponent. That's one major difference between him and Wenger. I trust Emery but mistakes can still be made. For example based on what is he still starting Xhaka ahead of Torriera? |

Fkhalifa: Double strikers means one drops deep or drifts to the wings, we can't have 2target men waiting for the ball..that's suicidal...
At their former clubs, they were brilliant for their scoring ability as a CF and that's that about them..
Bro, IGWE has more skills than the duo, remember his goal at the Madrid,he alone ran ragged that defence and I don't think Auba/laca have strength for such. Bros with due respect, how long have you been watching football? You can have TWO target men if you want. Though for the case in question, Aubameyang prefers to play off a target man due to his superior pace and positioning. As for Henry, agreed he has more skills than both strikers we have now, but generally your igwe was still average. Against Madrid at Benabeu, it was his pace that got him past the defenders rather than pure skills. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 4:41pm On Sep 04, 2018 |
Fkhalifa: No, it won't work, neither of them can do a thiery on the ball, Henri excelled in a 2 forward formation because he can fall deep, get the ball, run at defenders, bully them with height, shoot with either foot from any angle and and as well create chances...
I doubt either of the 2 could do half that job..
This isn't 1999 football,The use of fast, creative and goal scoring wingers is the in thing amongst the big and succesful football clubs
Cardiff didn't even pack the bus,yet our attack footy wasn't sharp,no threat from the wings nor the middle, not much on target shots...
Auba clearly had a below average game aside from the beautiful goal,Iwobi and michy would have faired better.
Both strikers are good in the box and can finish brilliantly, I say stick them to the CF position. You probably didn't get me. Both can be used as double strikers without playing on the wings. As for your Henry analogy, you probably haven't seen much of both strikers especially at their former clubs. Both are deadly poachers and are fast on the ball. Henry wasn't all that skillful mind you, he only uses his pace to get past defenders. Henry too was a winger converted to a striker, which gave him a unique status away from the usual big CF we know. And both Lacazette and Aubameyang are same mode as Henry except that Henry was best of the three. |

Fkhalifa: This Laca and Auba starting together thing is overrated.Auba’s goals will paper over the cracks and I’m sure people will forget his performance and look on that.I said here several times that Laca and Auba in the same team won’t work and that it should be one of them not both.
Auba is not that good of a winger because he cant beat his man one vs one very well and is poor in a creative sense. Please dont let the goals stats at Dortmund deceive you.He became world class at CF not RW.If Auba was still playing as a winger at Dortmund chances are he would never have moved to a top team.
I’d easily start Welbeck,Iwobi,Nelson and Mkitaryan over Auba at RW not because they are world class but because they offer more.Face the truth that it should be one of Auba or Laca not both.
Quite alright, Auba or laca will likely score any goal scoring chance around the box but that won't blind me, Giroud flicked many balls that lead to our goals, welbeck flicked similar for Auba last year and that isn't a biggie among forward players..
We lacked creativity, mhicky was missed, our final third was dull, unlike our first 3 games where we created tones of chances. Auba and Lacazette can play together without any playing on the wings. |

sarafa68: Lacazette should start next match as a reward for his performace. It is easier to come from the bench, but a whole different story starting a match. Unless we want to help his confidence, Lacazette is good as a support for Aubameyang who I still believe is the better player. |

Fkhalifa: I just hope Auba and Laca aren’t shoehorned into the team just because it’s claimed they want to play with each other.
That to me will be another mistake by Emery. Why?It’s because none of Laca or Auba are good enough as “wingers”.Their 1v1 decision making on the wing is poor from what I’ve seen from both before they came to Arsenal and they also lack creativity at the wing.
We must not force both into one team just because they are top players. Its not sustainable and won’t work.
It may look good on paper but not on the pitch, and this calls for going all out for a very fast, strong natural winger in the next summers. I think that a 3 man cb formation will easily suit us while covering our defensive lapses. It will allow the likes of Monreal and Bellerin to bomb forward on the wings and it can also offer the chance to play Auba and Laca in a two pronged attack. 3-5-2 or 3-4-2-1 Alternatively, allow the dm to drop into the defence whenever any of the fb is attacking. |
