Those criticizing Emery or the team clearly didn't watch Wenger's Arsenal regularly.

The sense of urgency and press the players had in this game is laudable. They kept going at it until the final minute. It was a pleasant surprise. Granted they could have been more accurate with passes and a lot more coordinated, but that's a work in progress. Arsenal wouldn't become a top 4 team until they get better than average players, so the performance today is only a few notches below the best they could offer.

The board doesn't have the money to spend in today's inflated market, the players aren't going to magically become world class, so a top 6 finish is what Arsenal should realistically be gunning for in light of the competition.

I think Chambers has what it takes to be a top defender. He is error prone and lacks self confidence, but he does read the game well and puts in a hard tackle. Time will tell.

Emery has named his captains this season. In the absence of the injured Koscielny, Ozil will most probably lead the team against Man City tomorrow. Other possible leaders include Cech, Ramsey, and Xhaka.

I agree with you on that one. Perez ahead of Welbeck any day, anytime, any situation. I wish it was Perez but again, Perez needs serious game time which Arsenal can not assure him of.

Welbeck doesn't score goals but he offers other things. I remember the FA cup finals two seasons ago against Chelsea, he was the reason we won though he didn't score.

People will be surprised how much Emery will use him. He is strong and energetic, qualities that will make him a good pressing agent for Emery's press tactics.

Evolution involves structural changes in other to adapt or survive.

Whales and catfish can't survive outside water. They may tolerate for a while but that's just it.

Nevertheless it only reveals the diversity of nature. There is a unity in diversity spread across all animals which cannot be attributed to chance. It has got to be planned. Evolution suggests changes happen by chance. The complexity is too vast to attribute to chance.

Besides the best form of defence is to attack. If we throw in our top strikers and they fetch us just one early goal, the rest of the pack including bench can then work to defend it. Which is better than finding a late goal.

I am enjoying this educative convo.

Life being everywhere is a product of adaptation, agreed. But such adaptions were not as a result of evolution but design.

My problem with evolution is that it attributes things or changes to chance. But when we consider that complex natures of these living creatures, chance becomes too assuming. Because for example, no matter what we do a fish can never survive a outside water. No matter what adaptation evolution can give it.

Again evolution should be a continuous process, but it seems to have taken a break. What do you think?

The beauty of life is in the variety.
