openmine: Kai this emotional trauma of not winning this match is really affecting arsenal fans even on Sunday
My elder I didn't know you watched matches during the 50s which now makes you think you know better than the stats available for all to see! What you made emphasis on is simply ball possession;in other words, arsenal had more of the ball than Liverpool which is practically expected from a home side! And besides, same arsenal had the same dominance against man city but we all know the result!
While I give arsenal credit for dominating which is expected from a home team, you can't say for sure that such dominance will result into goals.... Even the stats prove my point about both teams....arsenal clearly had the dominance in terms of possession but Liverpool had the attempts "minimally "..... Like I explained ab initio,Goal attempts are based on two criterion;Shots off target and shots on target!
Arsenal and Liverpool had 4 shots on target each.... Arsenal had 5 shots off target while Liverpool had 6 shots off target... Based on that analogy,Liverpool edged arsenal out 'minimally' in terms of goal attempts which I earlier explained indicating that the game was highly competitive between both teams!
Lastly, saying arsenal would have won by 6-2 is just preposterous, laughable and also proof that you watch matches based on your emotions which is very typical of most arsenal fanatics! if indeed your team could have won by six,why wasn't this reflected in the shots on target?

What I can say for now is to take a chill pill! There will be a second half on December 29 at anfield! Then your team can enact what wasn't done at emirates! Though I will advise that you go to a viewing centre that very close to a pharmacist or clinic just in case! You are very funny... lol Don't worry yourself, the league belongs to Manchester City. Klopp is going trophyless again. Soon he would be tagged the new Wenger. Heck, Wenger won the title and cup double in his second season. Liverpool is just full of potentials. Just. Soon they will become the new market for serious minded clubs like City, Chelsea, Manchester United qnd off course Arsenal... |

Andrez123: From your comments, you sound like these whatsapp generation kids and coupon fans who never watch a live football game but follow the game through football news websites, twitter and football stats.
Arsenal and Liverpool might have had the same 4 shots on target during the game according to the stats but Arsenal totally dominated that 1st and 2nd half, there's some kind of match domination that doesn't show up on basic football stats, Arsenal in that first half alone had like very good 7 or 8 half chances which was either deflected or blocked by the Liverpool defense which in the end won't register as shots on target or off target. Arsenal also made numerous attacking incursions into Liverpool's defense and in the midfield Liverpool couldn't recover the ball quickly enough when they lost possession that's one of the reasons they ended up having only 39% ball possession in the whole match.
Arsenal coming from behind to draw doesn't mean that they couldn't have won it, I wasn't necessarily happy with Ramsey coming on for Aubameyang when Arsenal was still 1-0 down but even with the 2 glorious chances missed by Van Dyke for Liverpool, Arsenal could have easily won this game 6-2 if things went their way that's how dominant Arsenal was on Saturday evening. Thank you. |

openmine: In my opinion,I would first say arsenal were actually the ones who escaped with a draw! Arsenal were on the verge of losing less than 9 minutes to the end of the game....Hence,they were actually chasing the game!
Secondly,You might have all the dominance but the real graft is on the goal "attempts" made and Liverpool edged arsenal in that respect!
finally, you can say both sides played well...however,on the context of goal attempts, Liverpool marginally edged arsenal who, being the home team, were expected to have not just dominance but more goal attempts than the visiting team! Firstly you tagged dominance to possessions not goal attempts. Again if goal attempts were marginal, you can't consider that as an escape but rather a balanced draw. Secondly, many teams win games from losing positions. You can't call that chasing, especially for this Arsenal team that have won more games from losing positions this season than any other team. |

Emery's preference of Lacazette over Auba in the centre forward position proves that coaches prefer a striker with good hold up play than a good finisher. This explains why the likes Giroud remain relevant in the minds of coaches.
With good hold up play, goals can come from any part of the pitch. But with a striker that is good in finishing but poor in holding play, you depend on one person to do the scoring.
An alternative is to have both on the pitch, in a way that balances the team. This was the secret of France's success in the World Cup.
Better still, if you are lucky to have both skills in one player... |

openmine: u have possession right,so what do you have to show for the dominance? 1-1? ohh please..... I have seen dominant/possessive teams get beaten by 5 to 6 goals and yet they kept playing possession footy! A typical example this season was arsenal who marginally edged man city on possession, yet it was the result that was the difference.... Arsenal even played better in that match yet they still lost...so of what benefit is the dominance or possession of arsenal if they can't win the match? They had the dominance but it was Liverpool that scored first! if Liverpool had won,the possessions would never have mattered or counted for anything! Forget about Motm, most online tabloids have their own motm....it all depends on their own vantage point! So from your logic, since the game ended 1-1, how did you now determine who escaped with the draw knowing that Arsenal had greater dominance? |

Skimpledawg: Truth be told, Arsenal is playing real well, not just stringing beautiful passes, but the eye for goals and constant pressing is the striking difference between Emery and Arsene.
Torriera is the 'white' Kante. Dude is strong, balanced and got ball sense. That Laca goal sweet me sha, e dey like say I dey play PES One striking difference between Wenger and Emery also is their approach. Emery is more pragmatic in his tactics and substitutions. Wenger would have left Iwobi on the bench. But the boy changed the game. Again Emery touch line character puts a lot of confidence on both fans and players. With such, even a loss won't be painful since fans see the drive to win. |

openmine: bro you can have all the possession in the world but no body will ever ask for possession but its the result that counts! Your team had a marginal possession over man city in the first match of the season, yet man city won by 2-0... ....and I disagree with you that we escaped with a draw..... We actually had more clear cut chances to score in the second half to put the game to bed like Manchester city did to arsenal in the first match of the season! van dirk almost had a hatrick today.... if a second goal had been scored by lfc, there would have been no way back from for arsenal! Possessions don't win football matches! True, but possession is an indicator of dominance. If I dominated you, you can't come out and say I escaped with a draw. You talked about having more clear cut chances, forgetting that other stats. MOTM was Torriera not VVD. |

openmine: Bro admit it....you were 9 minutes away from losing your unbeaten run! The noise pre match was that Liverpool would be destroyed and consumed by the so called sharp bullets of the gunners! We may have drawn today but you know very well Liverpool is not in the class of Cardiff or Leicester city! Arsenal tried....I give them some credit... but they met a better team who on a very good day could have won by 3 goals had Virgil converted those headers! Not as true as you mentioned. Arsenal dominated the second half. You could read their pattern of play from their passing and movements. I'd rather say Liverpool escaped with a draw. |

Eruditor: Lacazette was bad all game. Unai set his team up wrongly in the 2nd half. They just defended and could not transition after winning the ball which kept them in their own half thus encouraging Crystal Palace to pile up the pressure. Forget the winning run, this team is still under construction. Sooner or later we will lose. But so far so good. I praise the work done so far. |

Roland17: I agree with your post. Outside the left back position, I don't think we need to make any hasty reinforcement in January. Wenger made a lot of panic buys to appease fans every window even though most turned sour grapes. Players and selling teams know purchasing teams are desperate around the winter transfer window consequently, they inflate the value of a player considering the deficiency of the purchasing team. We suffered similar situations with Wenger. I think we can ride this season and then focus on the summer transfer window of 2019. Fans are beginning to get carried away by our winning streak forgetting the initial plan to rebuild the team. This season is not to win titles but get the team structured. So far so good, minding that we can still lose to top sides like Liverpool or even Tottenham. Meanwhile let's ride the wave and see how the season pans out. |

KevinDein: Yep
Emery is more suited for Arsenal than PSG with all those egos. Really looking forward to seeing "his signings" in the team.
Torreira, Guendouzi and Leno have all looked at home so far. Like Roland17 said, his image was badly damaged at PSG where he was more of a babysitter for Neymar and Co. than a coach. His experience in dealing with those periods have become very vital in handling situations here at Arsenal. Think Ozil, Ramsey etc. Funny enough players feel more confident in their manager when he doesn't respect their pride. |

Pataki: Gone are the days when we used to have a coach playing with his zippers....one would wonder, is this not the same team, Wenger used last season?
I loved how Emery clapped for Guendozi when he fought hard for the ball even at dying minutes of the game.
At this rate, it would even be difficult for Cech to take his spot back. Leno has been marvelous. The team spirit in this Arsenal is breathtaking good. The days of one Chile riling everyone up in the team are long gone.
