Soton make 8 changes to the side that beat Everton 1-0 on Sunday
Better stop yarning trash...Their second 11 beat your second Eleven So your baked brain thinks that making changes means its no longer your first team. Hediot, mention one Sotton player that is not in their first team. |

An0nimus: Please confirm if the following players played for Soton: Redmond, Oriol Romeu, Charlie Austin, Fonte, Cedric
It's our best shot at getting a trophy this season so it should be important. Like someone said, AW even benched Chamberlain who coincidentally has been delivering in this Carling Cup. Martinez wasn't so bad btw
Yes, I do. But, it's the closest shot at getting a trophy this season. It becomes much less of a priority if we're playing Champions League final on Saturday.
Yes, I do. But between us, we know how Mou would have reacted if he was playing in all competitions. He'll want to win them all. Only Fonte actually qualifies to be in the first 11. But that's not even the point. I mean we lost to Sotton. Whose fault then? Had Wenger featured Sanchez and Ozil maybe we could have won, but if any of them sustains an injury, these same fans crying would still blame Wenger. |

Roland17: Without any hesitation, i would gladly take Abou Diaby's glass footed left leg over Ramsey's left and right.
Truthfully, he is not the reason we lost yesterday, however, for his level of experience it was quite disappointing to watch. He has stagnated over the past 2 seasons with Arsenal, there is no marked improvement in any skill area and please don't give that crappy excuse of being injured.
Ramsey is below average, at best average, and the rest is British hype if we must tell ourselves the truth. On this thread, I have always expressed my dismay at the sloppy ball technique of British players in our team. Ramsey is only ahead of OX and Walcott in technique because he is a better short range passer.
Diaby was Wenger's personal project, i believed in Diaby and prayed he could stay healthy, however, i was also convinced Diaby would have been traded like Fab, Henry, etal to a bigger team for financial gains if he was healthy enough to showcase his skills.
Again, Ramsey as 10 is the joke of the decade. Hopefully, we can close that chapter in the first team. It is harsh to criticise Ramsey over one EFL match without the teams best legs. While I am not trying to excuse his poor performance, remember that he made TOTT at the last Euro playing as a 10. That said, Ramsey's a utility player, but his best wing is as a box to box runner. Sometimes certain players require certain forms of partnership to thrive. See what is happening to Pogba without Pirlo or Machisio? Coquelin without Cazorla? Etc. Ramsey needs an Arteta type of player to make sense. A player who can be disciplined enough to stay put and spray the ball while he does the running. Ok, we no longer have Arteta, but before we fry Ramsey, lets give him some time to find another partner. Xhaka? |

An0nimus: Spy360 and kokaneprodigy compare the two responses. Winning is good for the team epecially in a cup competition. This is not a friendly with an unknown Asian side.
I know you guys are trying to have the team's back but mehn. Soton didn't play their first 11 too. I agree with Sod09, I prefer to win Carling Cup than nothing at all. The one we see first make we grab am before we think of the one wey dey front.
After that houdini display yesterday, Ramsey should go on loan like Wilshere. Make we know how many people still get sense for this team 1. Sotton played their first 11, why not check than argue. 2. No one is saying losing is good, but if that match was so important to the club, why use Martinez when we have Cech and Ospina? 3. Do you realise that playing the Carling cup or even FA cup can jeopadise league aspirations? Ask Wigan. 4. We have a fixture pile up, we don't want to lose concentration, that is why less focus was placed on the cup. Yes Mou took it seriously, but do you know why? |

Fkforyou: For fvck sake, this was the same Southampton that beat you the other time 4 nil and you had to opportunity to revenge and make a statement instead decided to use your second team... For the love ofGod is Arsene Wenger out of his mind?
Even if it was just EFL cup, winning is winning and it affects the over all team confidence when we lose...it's simple psychology 101. Arsene is just a retaard...Simple.! See ode, sacrifice your CL and EPL team just to revenge a Southampton that would die to be in your position? Lack of Champions League football is really affecting the brains of some fans. That you played on Wednesday doesn't mean it is a CL game o. |

kokaneprodigy: For the first time this season we lost a game and didn't score a single goal, Ramsey played as 10.
We've lost two games this season in all competitions, both games had Ramsey playing as 10.
Cc Spy360 So na Ramsey make una no win? Abeg free the guy. Even if you play Messi as 10 with those set of players we go still lose. Sotton played the first 11. |

An0nimus: It might be Carling cup but it sucks to lose out every other year. Sometimes was wrong in this game and I cant plaece my finger on it. Oya pundits make una come explain Some teams without hope for main titles need it. Eg Manchester United, Southampton etc. Those of us fighting for main titles use the EFL as a test for inducting new players into the first team or a new playing system. Wenger in all his years has never won the trophy, shows how important he takes it. The team that wins it only qualifies for the qualifying rounds of the Europa League. Guys like Jose Mourinho will love to win it so that he can use it as a defence against 'having a trophyless season'. Pffft! |

kokaneprodigy: Oga Giroud is no longer a starting Material, he's best as a Sub, this has been proven over time. Live with it!! By playing Sanchez as 9 we lose the left wing. The only reason that can justify keeping Giroud on the bench is for Perez to step up or we get a better striker/winger. Anyway, he is injured. |
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 8:01am On Nov 30, 2016 |
kokaneprodigy: Giroud injured, it could be a blessing in disguise. And why the fck is Ramsey still fit. Giroud has been immensed so far this season. Still competing for goals even from the bench. Ramsey has not yet been employed in his familiar position, no thanks to Wenger. I think he gives us options too just as Giroud. So relax. |

Adeyeahcan: We need ozil Ozil can still play anywhere accross the front 6 if he is willing to adapt. Even in his prefered role sometimes he looks lost. Well he could play as an inside right or left on the wings, he could also play as a support for Sanchez upfront, just as Bergkamp did for Henry. Infact this season he has been more of a support striker for Sanchez. When Sanchez drops deep, Ozil makes the forward run from the centre. Example yesterday... ................... Elneny ... Xhaka................... Walcott .................................... Chambo .................... Ozil ..... Sanchez ................. This formation sometimes look like we are playing without a striker, or like with two strikers depending on the flow of the game. |

Fkhalifa: Guys I think Elenny and xhaka partnership can give us the Khedira&shewni also vidal Alonso, Pogba kante..
Both playing The CM and DM position together, and they both tall with good long and short range passings
N.b I know coq is our best dm but i wouldn't mind we try it once a while. Wenger's used to prefer a double pivot, with small pacy wingers, and two forwards in a 4-4-2. He changed when he saw Fabregas, now Ozil. Elneny and Xhaka may offer him that option once again. But the formation won't need Ozil. ............... Elneny ......... Xhaka ............. Walcott ................................. Chambo .............. Sanchez ... Giroud ................ |
