This is one of the longest thread I have seen on nairaland with regards to Solar Energy. So far, the basic truth that stands out is that many nigerians need power but want to get it as cheap as possible. That's not an easy task either.
For over Eight months now, I have have lived absolutely on DC lightening 24Hrs, can effectively charge my phones 24Hrs, 12hrs usage of a dc fan and run other moderately powered appliances for 3-4Hrs a day and the system still works. All for not more than 100k.

To achieve this, just think more on DC power usage and high power management especially if you are off-grid like me. Those around you would never understand how come but its simple science.

I have been running things on dc for four years now including tv and laptop. Everything costing less than 60k.But the solar controllers i bought then @4500 are now 20k each thank God i bought 5 of it. Nepa has disconnected our light since last month and i don't even care. We can if we can keep our needs very basic.

Highly motivated director, smart engineers, and they are trying. But the agency is woefully underfunded; most of the high-tech equipment uninstalled and rusting away. In spite of it, they are inventing all kinds of things right here in Anambra (solar street light, inverter, transformer). I'm an engineer so I mean when I say invent.

It won't take up to 50million to make this a world-class agency that can partner with private sector to market their products widely. Yet even this promising agency isn't given the resources to blossom.

Another agency is being formed - instead of fully funding the ones we have. Why? It's like laying foundation for 10 houses but never raising the walls for any of them.

Is it state funded or self?

Exactly! In my third year in the university, in search of a side income, I took up a teaching role in a secondary school. I taught Physics, Further Maths, Intro. Tech. at the same time. I had cult-like followership among the students because, in my 10 years teaching experience, no one around me did this thing better than I do.

But the proprietor of the said school is not sound in English syntax and semantics. So, while marking my lesson notes, he would be underlining correct sentences as incorrect because the dunderhead couldn't understand such. Despite how much I love teaching as a job, I left it for self-employment.

My wife has everything needed to be a wife, but when it comes to Queen's English, hardly will you find two correct sentences in her 30 written sentences. I wondered how she graduated from the college. That's not my problem, but trying to tell us that professional teachers have a monopoly is what I love to hate.

Teachers with NCE or any certificate in education are the most stupid set of people I even know. They believe that once you don't pass through their useless colleges of education, you can't teach successfully. Most NCE holders I know are dullards (my wife inclusive) when it comes academic prowess, and they still won't spare us their trashy talks. Stvpid lots!

NCE is a dumping ground naturally. Like a dullard beside me here who could'nt teach a primary three pupil and he a is graduate of NCE.
