Bros, better money dey inside gardening oooo...even more than all these inefficient "yeye" farms I see around in the south. A friend is building house around Shangotedo (after Ikoyi/VI/Lekki/Ajah along Epe Express Road) and he invited me to visit his place yesterday. A plot of land is around N16million to N25million naira in his place as I was told. Well, Lekki Free Trade Zone and the new International airport and seaport plus Dangote Refinery in the area have really helped the place. I used not to like the area, but right now...I plan buying as many plots of land as possible in the area over the next 5 years. Anyway, here is my point. Everyone around him fenced his/her land and they have gardens inside. I did free consultation there yesterday, and I was shocked to see 2 of by former boys there. You know I used to have farms in Epe and Ijebu Ode. And I had extensive discussion with the boys. They are doing excellently well on 1 or 2 plots of land there.

Gardening is big time money now sir. Very lucrative. It also will prevent one's land from snatchers. It is like almost everyone buying land in the area has "woken up" to get involved in gardening not as a profitable venture but as a means of securing their land intially; however, eyes don open nicely that money dey there. Lol. Of course, i do not mind just buying land in the area anyhow....as many as possible....down to free trade zone to dangote refinery.....down to T-Junction.

Do not get me wrong sir, I like you. I love your exploits. And it is why I even asked the guy who asked me questions up there to move them to my thread. You will get my point very soon. I am not discouraging you. Rather, I think you deserve to be encouraged and lifted.

I love this solar stuff you mentioned. Hahagahah! 100% on 5v solar panel....hmmm. It is quite impressive. I have solutions for poultry equipment too. If you do not mind, i will love to read about your exploit. Please, could you PM me via NL. I will reply you with my email.

Nice one bro!

@ oga pistotia I don't know if you can help me out of my quagmire. Now I want to go into cucumber/fluted pumpkin farming (1 ha each). Now I intend using drip irrigtion, but my problem is water. Now I know that the water requirement for vegetables is 1-1.5 acre-inch per week, which is roughly 65m3 of water daily per hectare. For 2 ha of land that's a whopping 130000 litres of water every day! Now I have two choices available to me: hand-dug wells or drilled wells (boreholes). Now from my findings drilling boreholes will be prohibitively expensive as its depth will have to be in excess of 300ft in order to get to a confined aquifer...now the issue is getting a submersible pump that will even have a flow rate of 20000litres/hr at a dynamic head of 100m will cost even more than 1.2 million (for the pump alone) and such powerful pumps will have a power rating in excess of 6HP so we are looking at at least a 9kva gen and above, so I dont think drilling a borehole is viable. NOW my question is do you think I could use hand-dug wells and then pump water with a gasoline-powered pump? From your experience do you think a hand-dug well will be able to supply even 50000 litres of water daily? I dont mind digging a few of them on my farm.
Go for solar boreholes. You may want to reduce some of your workloads for now. Start gradually.

You still do not get it. It is not worth it if one is buying. And as far as i know, alnost 100% here are farming for profit. You just stumbled on them freely. Can you use them when you want to expand? Can you buy them, and use solely for irrigation? Can you get enough used ones everytime? Or can you wake up any time, go to construction sites, and pick new ones freely everytime? The truth is many are gardeners, and not farmers.

No, I dont sell.
If there is a walk-around that can double my ROI I will definitely. But for now i am still a gardener.
But am progressing on local hybrid chicken research, and I intend buiding my own incubator that will run on solar.
Talking of manipulations and hacks. I have successfully hacked a 5v solar panel so that it can output recoilessly at 100%.
The point of divergent is that i always keep an open mind 'cause" questions keeps the mind open while conclusions closes it"

Very good you are saying the truth. But you should have stated that earlier.

Ok. Let someone who has an idea of the price let us know. Then after, you will see clearly that it is not an option for anyone purchasing it. I am sure you will apologize for saging I am pessimistic. I am sure you know that if you step on those pipes, they are gone. Ok...they might serve a small project well. I can use them too, but when I think of the stress....it is a "NO".

And an attitude about Nigerians is that they are always fast to pick materials from someone else, and use. Lol. It is just exactly the same the workers we complain about do. When you do not buy them, you use them anyhow. Lol. Not talking about you. Perhaps yours was already used ones...but the probability is low cos used ones are always buried.
I am a master improvisor. I don't throw things away. Let me just try it and see. Do you sell irrigation materials for large scale farming?

I will not say you should not use what you want to use, but you will have too many leakages you will need to block. Or maybe topgit gum can help out. And as I pointed out earlier, this option is worse than pvc as it is more fragile. You are going to waste too much time perforating irregular emmitter holes on it. You may think it works after installation, but trust me...you will see how unwise your decision is when you eventually get drip. Buy 0.3 to 0.4mm drip thickness (leave out 0.2mm), buy connectors with valve, and make sure you have end caps. Since you are using borehole, no need to add filter. Leave out venturi fertigation kit as it is one of the worst accessories in drip. I hate it with passion. Ask your seller for other options.

If you cannot farm now, do not. Wait till you have everything intact. If I were you, I would wait till I have mulch too. After buying my drip, seeds and some other materials several years ago, I waited six good months to get other materials. No need to rush. Buy your equipment gradually. If your land rent is cheap, continie paying it till you are ready.

If your farm is near your home or in urban center, it is fine. But if it is far away, I think you should have gone for a land surrounded by enough water (not even an open well is ok). Even after paying for this land, i would not use it if i were you after reading this post, and returned both gen and sub pump. Instead of buying Submersible pump and generator, you could have bought gasoline in-line pump (mud pump). You are going to save the cost of fuel, and pressure will be extremely high. I have used the two and I know inline gasoline is the best for any farm. Those using residential borehole made a terrible choice. I will take it only if the farm is in urban center and logistics and conveniency override cost of running water pump. I have met someone who argued with me that land near river is bad cos it is flooded during rainy season, and I smiled. Another one fought me cos she believes river water carries pathogens, and i said ok. Two of them are yet to start cos ths cost of digging wells on their farm is extremely high, and they are financially comfortable. Now, they are in tight corner. They may deceive themselves thry are yet to start cos of another reason, but I know that is the main cause, and they hace not realised it yet until they waste so much money. They will need to buy many tanks, and still will not have enough water. I do not need to be told that fruits and veggies are failure (except they downsize drastically) and most of the land area will become useless. It is what will definitely happen to them.
You are too pessimistic in your submission. Let people try things maybe they will discover a walk-around. I intend to use solar borehole for mine in the future. We have been using solar pump in our house for years and i can say its very very effective.A little experimentation here an there is good for our continent.

I need sound pieces of advising, pls.

By Intro - Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant of the methylxanthine class. It is the world's most widely consumed psychoactive drug. Unlike many other psychoactive substances, it is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world. There are several known mechanisms of action to explain the effects of caffeine.

Now my girlfriend is doing well as a Law Student in School but it has always been on taking caffeine to stay late night to read. First, it was Nescafe, when it was no more active, she switched to Passion drink, and the same, now the thing has an effect.

She at times shakes involuntarily due to this - this was an examination from the hospital.

My advice was for her to AVOID ALL additives and try to restructure her sleeping pattern.

Please, all those that made it as the FIRST CLASS or did well, how did you do it and what can you advise her because it makes no sense to be a FIRST CLASS student at the expense of her health.

Thanks. (All non-sensible comments will be deleted) wink

(Just noticed, this would have been to education or health section - but guess girlfriend made it come her)
I sleep by 5pm wake up at ten. Read till day break. Then i will be first to enter library. Take a short nap in the afternoon.

You don't know anything about God. It took God brain work and hardwork to create man. God got his hands dirty with clay to create you. And on the seventh day he rested (He was so tired from work). So look for dirty works around like panel beater, mechanic and so on. And don't forget the peace of mind. There is no peace for the wicked.
