Apparently, the South-Africans can't seem to quit embarrassing themselves and the rest of the continent!

http://www.news24.com/SouthAfrica/Ne...-boat-20150327
27/3/15 - An SA navy vessel fired three rounds 'accidentally' at a South African fishing boat. Fortunately for the fishermen, it seems the Navy can't shoot..
NIGERIAN NAVAL "OFFICERS" CANT SWIM

"The Nigerian Navy has introduces compulsory swimming lessons for all officers following a realisation that most of its junior and senior officers are incapable of conducting waterborne operations because they cannot swim"

"Rear Admiral Anyankpele said the navy's training wing has realised that most naval officers do not know how to swim. He said as a result, the navy has decided to make it compulsory for all recruits and officers to undertake specialised swimming lessons suited for the military operating environment."

"This observation means that anyone who claims to be a sailor without being a swimmer or one who keeps afloat during emergency at sea is equivalent to someone attempting to commit suicide."

all4naija: News coming directly from SA in such condition as to national pride will be doctored without any argument. We have seen that being displayed here by most South Africans done on the ground of sentiment as to being patriotic. That I find to be very funny of a country that claims to be civilized and well organized. Indeed, it is surprising to be reasoning in such direction in a country with good claim of human outlook.

Nigerian using SA link is more of a better evidence because it would be hard for SA to report about Nigeria with shady intention as they would like to prove we are not doing thing on equal footings. SA is a foreign country to Nigeria and its reports will be very truthful on our matters unlike reporting about its own to prove its people are doing better with shady intention. That is a fact. The same can be said about Nigeria in return - though, I haven't seen any yet.
Then you don't know the state of the South African media. They will do whatever it takes to report negatively about the SA government and the defence force. When we posted this link "SA soldiers carved us up, say rebels" http://www.timeslive.co.za/thetimes/2013/04/03/sa-soldiers-carved-us-up-say-rebels, you were all screaming propaganda. But a few days ago you use an article from the exact same website http://www.timeslive.co.za/thetimes/?articleId=9054737.

So in the space of a month and a half the journalists working at that website lost their national pride? Such nonsense. You simply refuse to believe certain things, regardless of facts.

all4naija: Small head has nothing to do with this argument. The competency of SA military is questionable in almost all ramifications. We have seen how the soldiers were disgraced in CAR after a few battles with the child rebels. I think we have given too much respect or high expectations to your military only to see it is not up to the task.

We can go on and on to express our disappointment with your forces who usually display shiny hardware and brag about by the citizens. That I cannot actually relate with in this whole argument. If we must see your military in the light of truth is it clear it is not up to the task and respect being given to it.

However, the Nigerian military still rules the sub-Saharan Africa and it will remained so for long time to come. All hail the strongest military in Africa, the Nigerian military!
And we have seen how you label anything we post regarding CAR as propaganda, if it's not what you want to hear. When we use South African links, you scream propaganda. But you have no issue using SA links when the story suites you. So I'm done wasting my time on that issue.

agaugust: strategic intelligence of south africa failed in CAR seleka rebels war. Tactical intelligence is secondary not primary. sorry, south african war intelligence is NOT impressive going by history.

training photo above too. @andrewza said nigerian soldiers standing on the heads on the floor does not make a soldier strong, so maybe same for south african soldiers carrying logs of wood like farmers making firewood for cooking.
So in your small head a soldier standing on his head gets the same benefit from a soldier carrying heavy equipment and marching 10, 15, 20km? Hahaha....ok then.

If the Nigerian SAM system was to fail. What is plan b for Nigeria? What modern jets can they scramble up to defend their airspace?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 5:10pm On May 14, 2013
agaugust: Your bush village Zulu spear combat tactics makes you think Nigeria buys only one missile launcher ?

Roland SAM Nigeria has 16 launchers with 300 missiles and all 300 missiles can be fired in 5 minutes.

Nigeria never buys few missiles for air defense, we buy enough to defend us against the great Egyptian air force champions of Africa in the air.

You seem to be interested in south African jet pilots going back to their creator at an early age.

.
Please don't flood the internet talking about Roland. Maybe if this was 1980 you could write me a letter telling me about it, and I would be impressed. And you don't even have Akash yet, if you're even going to get it.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 5:07pm On May 14, 2013
solomon111: it's just funny when someone thinks 1 grippen and 1 hawk with whatever conventional missile, will destroy Nigeria's defence system.
Only a southafrican with a massively overrated military can reason like that.
The seleka rebels haven't taught you guys any lesson yet.
Once again,i laugh.
So that means you dont have a come back. Ok cool, no problem. Of course South African jets will get shot down, but at the
end of the day your air defence system will be destroyed.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 4:57pm On May 14, 2013
solomon111: i laugh.
If you don't have a come back, then I laugh at your laugh
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 4:47pm On May 14, 2013
solomon111: your 1 grippen and 1 hawk will disable Nigeria's defence system without being shot down?
I pity your pilots.
No. I said this system. Don't put words from your imagination. A fully loaded Hawk and fully loaded Gripen will destroy it, simple as that. You only have 3 missiles to work with. If we enter your range of 30km and also fire our Umbani at you, you have to decide.....do you try shoot down the jets (which can defend themselves with A-Darter) or do you try destroy Umbani? Either it ends bad for you.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 4:37pm On May 14, 2013
agaugust: ....but unfortunately for you Akash radar range detects enemy incoming guided bombs and missiles from 180km away and defends itself by firing anti-missile missiles

Just as I said before, you are just a copy and paste internet weapons photographer. You don't know the real live art of war and battlefields combat.

Go sit down men !

.
It doesn't matter if the radar can scan 10 000 000km, if the missile can only travel 30km. 1 Gripen and 1 Hawk can neutralize this system. Armed with Umbani and A-Darter missiles. Destroying them 1 battery at a time. Fully loaded Gripen and Hawk will destroy this system one at a time.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 4:11pm On May 14, 2013
agaugust: .

missile range is 30km against any type of enemy jet aircraft

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/67/Akash_SAM_on_T-72.jpg
And unfortunately for you, we can hit this target at 40km. Before you can even launch at us.

South African Umbani Bomb Kit. Range of 40km, highly accurate.

https://www.ainonline.com/sites/default/files/uploads/9-2012-4-denel-al-tariq-pgm.jpg

100% South African design, but company had a joint venture with Tawazun Holdings in UAE.

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 3:43pm On May 14, 2013
agaugust: You are wrong @Defenceweb

why does a soldier fire more than one bullet against one enemy soldier in front of him. Your combat knowledge is very poor.

Roland SAM k.illed many different types of jet fighters in many different major wars of super powers nations.

Spain just purchased one of the most expensive and modern jets in the world..EUROFIGHRER TYPHOONS cost over $7 billion. NATO powers always has money for weapons.

Grippen needs to be accurate in targeting before it can identify Roland SAM among many army vehicles hiding inside thick bush or special camouflage. That attempt will expose the Grippen to Roland missiles and thus...pilot's wife becomes a young widow.

I cannot continue to repeat comments I posted before. Wasting my time.

@Defenceweb, I don't want to argue combat tactics with you and waste my precious time. You don't know the art of real war. You and I are not talking at the same level of knowledge. Sorry not an insult. Try another opponent at your level. Thanks.
Maybe you come from a very very small town, and you have convinced yourself that you know everything about the military because you once watched Rambo on T.V

A soldier can fire many bullets at an enemy because bullets are cheap. Even during training soldiers fire hundreds of bullets. How many countries in the world can afford to fire hundreds of surface to air missile during training? Very few, if any can afford to do that. That's why he said if you need to fire 10 surface to air missile at ONE target, your system is a piece of crap. You're just hoping one of them will hit.

The Roland system shot down aircraft at a time when it was still new and relevant, in the 1980's and 1990's. It is now old and obsolete. What don't you understand about that?

Do you know what targeting system the SA Gripens have? Or do you think the pilot just looks out the cockpit like they do in Nigeria?
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 3:17pm On May 14, 2013
agaugust: you know I am very good with sources. Show me web link source of Grippen jet combat history since 1998.

I posted same for Roland SAM so you must balance the equation. I am waiting for you.
A question like that just shows your simple way of thinking. Except being used for recon in Libya http://www.shabablibya.org/news/swedish-gripens-deliver-37-of-libyan-reconnaissance-reports, no Gripen operating nation has been in a full blown air war. If you're going to say because the Gripen lacks combat history, and the Roland from 1980 doesn't, then the Roland is better....then I think you aren't as clued up as you think you are. Roland is old and obsolete, get over it.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 2:58pm On May 14, 2013
agaugust: Ordinary old anti aircraft guns shot down many of America's best jets F-15 and F-16 in Iraq.

South Africans argue based on what their weapon is expected to do. Augustine argues based on what his weapons have been proved to have done in real combat history.

.see the difference ?
[quote author=agaugust]Under very lucky conditions even a stone thrown at a low flying jet can make it crash. That doesn't make a stone a good
air defence system. You just don't have the guts to say the air defence system you have is old and obsolete. And South African weapons (except the latest ones still in development) have seen real combat.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 2:42pm On May 14, 2013
1980's Roland SAM....."same level of technology". Hahaha
