Problem is a SAAF gripen does not need to dog fight since here missiles are linked to the helmet mounted sight.

All so as shown by young lion SAAF pilots where very good at low level flying and close in dog fights.
A missile rated at 100g manueverability. No one on the continent has anything even close.

Why can't you just prove you have above 9 qualified Gripen pilots?
Take your mental health issues elsewhere. I told you before, dont bother wasting YOUR own time replying to me. Plenty other people willing to entertain you. You shift goal posts once questions start getting answered.
Does the SAAF have 6 or 9 qualified pilots? You yourself keep changing that number when it suites you. Waste your own time.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 6:23pm On Jun 26, 2015
I find it amazing that it took Nairaland (not other experienced military institutions such as Janes) just 2 days to expose to the WORLD that Gripen CANNOT do basic combat maneuvers. It cannot do what it was designed to do. By detailed analysis of videos and crashes, members of this forum have exposed the lies of SAAB. I am truelly, honestly impressed.

Abuja - Nigeria's president Muhammadu Buhari on Monday slammed the state of the country's finances, claiming his predecessor had left Africa's biggest economy deep in debt and the treasury "virtually empty".

I wonder where they'll get the money to buy "a squadron or 2" of JF-17's. Just thinking out loud.

Article probably already posted here...just a recap

"SAAF probably looking at C-130 or KC-390 for medium airlift

While not cast in stone, it appears the airborne arm of the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) has its eyes on two possible types to replace its ageing C-130BZ fleet.

In the Estimates of National Expenditure (ENE) for the 2015/16 financial year National Treasury indicates "the department (of defence) will be acquiring equipment and developing systems to maintain a modern, balanced and technologically advanced force. It has budgeted for medium and light transport aircraft, a new generation mobile communication capability and precision guided air force ammunition for air defence. These acquisitions are reflected in spending in the Air Defence programme in 2016/17 and 2017/18".

- I don't know why I'm visualizing 3 × KC-390, 2 x C-130J and 2 x C-27J.
-new generation mobile comms capability? Who knows. Maybe the radio upgrade by Reutech Radar.
-precision guided munition for air defence....A Darter, maybe something else as well.

You have no reply because your Gripen targeting pod wasted your guided bombs as our Roland shot them down grin grin
In your wildest dreams will i have a useless debate about Roland SAM. Why dont you go google for yourself the 40 000 feet max height for Litening III pod. Even at 25 000 feet you have nothing on the ground to shoot a Gripen down. I know your brain is not capable of imagining such, but a lense can zoom in from thousands of feet.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 8:48am On Jun 17, 2015
agaugust:
[s]Show us a source to prove that your pod works at 40,000 feet and can identify targets CLEARLY to avoid friendly fire on your own army.

What is the range of your pod's short range tiny camera ?

Does your camera have image magnification lens ?

Then you need men on ground to walk into enemy base and place laser designators on the enemy equipment for your pod to work, your soldiers will enter inside Nigerian army base abi ?

Else you need to fly only withing range of the pod laser/FLIR to find target and risk enemy air defences fire.

Your targeting pod has no missile to guide from a Gripen, all you have is a slow snail speed guided bomb that will be shot down by Roland SAM[/s]

grin grin

To add to the Thales Digital Recon Pod

Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 6:12pm On Jun 16, 2015
Forgot the SAAF had these.....Litening III targeting pod.

"The targeting pod contains a high-resolution, forward-looking infrared sensor (FLIR) that displays an infrared image of the target to the aircrew; it has a wide field of view search capability and a narrow field of view acquisition/targeting capability of battlefield-sized targets. The pod also contains a charged coupled device (CCD-TV) camera used to obtain target imagery in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. An on-gimbal inertial navigation sensor has established line-of-sight and automatic boresighting capability. The pod is equipped with a laser designator for precise delivery of laser-guided munitions, a laser rangefinder provides information for various avionics systems, for example, navigation updates, weapon deliveries and target updates.

The targeting pod includes an automatic target tracker to provide fully automatic stabilized target tracking at altitudes, airspeeds and slant ranges consistent with tactical weapon delivery maneuvers. These features simplify the functions of target detection and recognition, and permit attack of targets with precision-guided weapons on a single pass."

Spotting targets and giving attack co-ords from 40 000 feet. Higher than other um...."surveilance aircraft" can dream to fly wink.

still crying?

you are yet to prove anything than the mental torture you are goung through right now.
There is nothing to prove against claims made on Nairaland. That is something which clearly will never sink into that thick skull. Show us where in the world you see "9 Gripen SAAF pilots"....i dare you. You think you can make sh.it up then demand proof to counter your thumb suck? Are you m.ad?

-For the 10th time....how were there 8 pilots in Sweden when Nigerians said we only had 6? Why are you deadly silent on that?

You have even forgotten your own original question. 18 aircrew, a mix of pilots and navigators. Where did you get the number 9? Show us the link.

I wont hold my breath

hahaha.. an emotional rant from a frustrated old man.
ansswer the question if you are trully capable of an objective debate and stop whining

i can barely finish reading your comments. too much emotions attached.
If you eminate from some form of du.mb as fvck sperm mixed with a 2nd rate egg, that's your problem not mine. Question has been answered....in the very text of mine you quoted. You keep asking the same question because you don't know where to go from here.

18 Aircrew. Post just 1 single source which states that means 9 pilots and 9 navigators. Why not 13 pilots and 5 navigators? If you feel like making sh.it up, have fun.....no one can stop you.

stillchris:
demolish who? the only person demolished is yourself. hence the emotional rants.

answer simple question and then we can go further from there.

do aircrew comprise of only fighter pilots? yes or no
Listen you small boy....do not waste my time. If you have nothing to say, then say nothing. If you had the required mental capacity, you would have seen that this question has already been answered.

Hence i asked the only way to get to 18 in Nigeria is 9 + 9? Only 9 pilots and 9 navs make 18 aircrew? You cant have 14 pilots and 4 navs.....13 pilots and 5 navs etc? Only 9 and 9? The number 9 was created solely by Nigerians on this forum, nowhere else.Fact.

Im done with this useless argument. As you were.

[s]Any pilot with training on an aircraft can fly it, that does NOT make him combat qualified.

If you need 150 hours for combat qualification, and you have 50 hours only, you will be able to fly the aircraft, but your incompetence will show when real combat comes and the F-7 jet s.hoots down the Gripen jet in 5 minutes of combat[/s]

one question... do aircrew comprise of only pilots?

your comment comes off as a whining
old mangrin.

yoyup are yet to prove you have more than 9 Gripen pilots
Answer the question....when last did you slap your wife? Huh small boy? Do not waste my time. I have utterly and completely demolished you....hence i told you to read my reply a few times until your stu.pidity sinks in.

You now have the nerve to ask "deep and reaching" questions, pretending as if you have any clew of what you're talking about. You again are deadly silent about 8 pilots in 2012, when you claimed 6.

In Nigeria the only way to get to 18 is 9 + 9? Not 12 + 6, 14 + 4, 13 + 5.....only 9 + 9?

The number 9 ONLY comes from this forum. Nowhere else in the entire universe is the number 9 linked with SAAF Gripen pilots besides THIS forum. And then you have the guts to demand proof to counter claims literally pulled out of your a.ss

Actually quite disgusting and pathetic.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 1:05pm On Jun 16, 2015
Henry120:
At present the SAAF can only muster six qualified Gripen pilots who only have 150 flying hours available across the whole Gripen squadron this year, according to Maynier. The annual target for fighter flying hours was 250 for the 2011/2012 period, according to the Department of Defence’s most recent Annual Report.

http://defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=29831:a-dozen-saaf-gripens-in-long-term-storage35:Aerospace

SAAF only has 6 qualified Gripen Pilots, and only 9 Gripen Pilots of a total Gripen crew of 18.
Straight to dustbin. Destroyed, demolished, recycled.

Do you know who Maynier is? He is not part of the SAAF, not part of 2 Squadron, not part of the SANDF. He is an opposition MP. Same Maynier who said defence intelligence had wasted over a billion Rand on a non existent satellite (Kondor - E) which is now happily orbiting planet earth for all to see.

18 aircrew came in a later factual reply from a General to Maynier's claim of 6, and to set the record straight about Gripen storage. Again....no number 9 was ever seen anywhere besides from THIS forum.

stillchris:
why don't you do yourself a favor and give us evidence that you have more than 9 pilots.

bloody mor0n
When last did you slap your wife?

That is the calibre of question you are asking me. I dont waste my time with small boys.

You are the same people who claimed we only had 6 Gripen pilots in 2012, with the same conviction that you claim we now have 9. How did 8 Gripen pilots fly in Sweden in 2012, when you f00ls claimed with total conviction that we only had 6? Why does your mouth suddenly go silent when asked to answer that question?
We took our entire group of Gripen pilots to Sweden in 2012? There were zero pilots left at 2 Squadron only the security guards at the gate? And now you sum up the nerve from somewhere deep down in your bowls to demand we show proof we have more than 9 today? How pathetic.

A 2013 airticle said the SAAF had 18 Gripen aircrew and 52 Hawk aircrew at that time. YOU Nigerians on THIS forum took the liberty of saying 18 = 9 pilots + 9 Navigators. YOU people on THIS forum. Not the SAAF, not Defenceweb, not Janes Defence, not Beegeagle, not SAAB....but YOU social rejects. Now you are demanding proof to counter claims made here, and nowhere else.

Read through this 3 or 4 times until the stu.pidity of your comment sinks in.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 12:18pm On Jun 16, 2015
The number of 9 Gripen pilots ANYWHERE ON PLANET EARTH came from Nigerians on THIS forum. And they keep using that number as if it came from a credible source grin grin. If they are so clued up on the SAAF....i DARE any of them, show us how many Hawk pilots have moved onto the Gripen since 2012? How many have completed the conversion course since then? It was an absolute bare MININUM of 8 Gripen pilots in 2012, how many are there now? Or you'll keep saying "9....9...9" for the next 5 years to suite your argument?

Bl00dy m0rons.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine: 12:09pm On Jun 16, 2015
Henry120:
As at that time dummy, you only had 6 qualified Gripen pilots.

Yes, you only have 9 Gripen Pilots. We aren't bothered, it is SAAF which has to deal with a severe pilot shortage.
Aha. We only had 6 according to you in 2012, yet 8 pilots flew in Sweden. Close that dustbin you call a mouth....it stinks.
Foreign AffairsRe: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by ssaengine:
8 SOUTH AFRICAN GRIPEN PILOTS TOOK PART IN EXERCISE LION EFFORT 2012 HELD IN SWEDEN

-We sent ALL our Gripen pilots to Sweden that year? Not one single Gripen pilot on South African soil for a number of weeks?

-OR we only left ONE Gripen pilot at home in 2 Squadron to operate and guard against any domestic/regional unforseen threat?

-How did 8 Gripen pilots go to Sweden in 2012 when f00ls on here were insisting we only had "6 Gripen pilots fact!" at that time?

-Your numbers then were wrong, what makes you think they are right now?

Let these M0RONS keep believing we only have 9 Gripen pilots. Infact let them think we only have 3. The more uninformed they are, the better.
