Hello guys. Trust you all are doing well. Welcome to the best time of the year......summer time.

I said before that I stay in fort mcmurray though my desire is to move to Calgary.

Is there a way one gets proper job meaning full time and no weekends. Cos all I seem to see here are part time jobs with minimum wage and no benefits.

@salford why do I have a feeling I know you. Did you school at university of Salford UK?

Hello and greetings from Alberta Canada.
For oil jobs, your destination should be Fort McMurray which is a town, compared to Calgary.
Living in FortMc is relatively more expensive due to the fact that the wage is usually higher than the average. This because the oil sands is located in FortMc.

It is a lot easier and cheaper to cook at home as u can be sure that the time you get home is pretty predictable.

I landed at Calgary intl airport and i didn't take too long at the immigration desk.

You might have a difficult time spending money here initially because you will be converting to naira. Just breathe.

Don't be afraid to do any form of legal job for starters. It might not be at par with your naija level, but trust me anything to get your canadian experience. Please volunteer if you have to as it also counts as part of your experience.

Make use of YMCA or any other immigrant settling/serving org.

Whew..........i think i've tried. You might not get an immediate answer from me if you have other questions. But if i am able, i will drop further comments.

Hello house.

I'm a very silent observer on this thread. However, I will like to share the good news that I've landed in Canada. From ITA to PPR took 9 months.

It is better to ensure you block all avenues for more documents request by providing all upfront. That way, your application will not be abandoned.

All the best to all that have received ITA

Good morning guys. Please I have not yet paid my RPRF. can this affect my application? Was not able to pay all fees at the point of submitting my application due to limits. I want to pay but don't know how to go about it.

justwise:

That can be discussed here openly and people have always done that here. Inviting people to that whatsapp group is ant-traffic and nairaland survives on traffic, if people don't visit nairaland and preferred whatsapp group nobody will place an ad here.

Accusing me of killing this thread is nonsense because i have done the opposite for the past 6yrs free with my time and data as well.

Good search will not lead anybody to whatsapp group material, please enough of that.

Justwise, be calm already. You conveniently ignored the part where he categorically stated that he was also added to the whatsapp group.

I am yet to see you answer queries in recent times, so it won't do this group any favours if jesusdway withdraws. Zandora has been MIA so it's just this guy taking the time to answer virtually all questions. DO NOT KILL HIS SPIRIT

Do you think it could have been better under Activity. If she had detailed it under employment record; the system (EE) would have generated a menu for her to upload her proof of employment (reference letter, etc) for that entry. The system assumes that the applicant is trying to claim point for each entry.
However, if you have it under activity, CIC gets a comprehensive details of your activities over the last 10 years (with not gap at all) and the EE system would not prompt you to upload any reference letter.
I would think the way forward for her is to provide those details (Employer, Employer's address, Job title & description, duration, etc) both via email and the case specific enquiry (CSE) link.
I have written a loe and attached my discharge certificate. It should suffice I guess. Thanks

Hi guys, *zandora jesusdway

Top of the morning. Please I need to confirm how to explain my nysc year. Cic has sent a mail regarding a one year gap which is my nysc year. Initially, I put it as government work but they are asking for more information. How do I explain what I did for the year. Thanks

my score is 478. thanks

This situation often arise, and it is difficult to prove this kind of inflow, which may result in a stressful process. it is important we know if your score is high enough in the pool so a decline of the invitation could be an option. Another option is to fix deposit a huge amount of these fund.is my opinion, let the seniors throw more light.

Jesusdway,

Please are you in the pool? Or have you landed? need some advice................will appreciate zandora and shyee as well. i need to communicate with you guys. need your help.
JesusDWay:

Some of the points you made don't exactly apply. What makes you think people are not making efforts to improve their score and who told you emphasis is partly on money? I personally know someone who did the IELTS 4times and another who has registered the 2nd time(plus spouse doing it second time as well). Moreover, money issues only come in after you must have landed there, not at the selection stage.

The major determinants are IELTS Grade, Age and partly educational level. The point of IELTS is understandable as communication is key for an immigrant to integrate into a new society. There are lots of people who have enviable work experience and even very good IELTS Grade but unfortunately, Age is their undoing. Its seeming like Canada wants a younger work force which may be understandable as its the initial reason for the immigration programme because, under the old fswp, age wasn't as discriminatory as it presently is and, the spouse's contributory factor isn't as significant as it presently is.

Well...they are not obligated to keep to what they initially indicated but, my own point of view is largely based on prospective immigrants whose hopes were raised only for it to be thinning out already. If you must know, people have more trust in the Australian immigration process than Canada's.

Shyee:
Express Entry steps. saw this on a forum, hope it's helpful, please i need 5 likes at least. all on the CIC site: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp But...(Please note that this info does not apply tothe Federal Skilled Trades Program)
1) Determine your eligibility by doing this CIC quiz http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/ee-start.asp
2) Get your language test(s) done. You must get at least CLB 7 in each of the four sections for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) or Canadian Experience Class (CEC) streams. But getting CLB 10 gives you maximum points for language. How does CLB match back to the language tests? That info is here --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/language/charts.asp
3) Get your qualifications assessed by doing an Education Credential Assessment.Details here --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp
4) Determine the code that best applies to you on the National Occupation Classification (NOC) list http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp The occupation must be NOC 0, A, or B for FSW or CEC.
5) When you have those in hand you createyour express entry profile. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/profile.asp and register for the JobBank http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/home-eng.do?lang=eng
You'll be given points based on your age, education, number of years work experience, and language skills. The points system is detailed here --> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/express-entry/grid-crs.asp
You'll be in a pool with thousands of other applicants http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/pool.asp
Of course, the more points you have the better. The max is 1200, with 600 of those points coming from your ability to snag a PNP or a job offer with a very hard to get Labour Market Impact Assessment http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp
For CEC applicants, the max is 600 but someone who has no work experience in Canada who is only eligible for FSW can only get up to 520 points.
6) Finally, wait for your invitation to apply (ITA). But in the interim you will need to do the following:
a) Have your application fee (C$550 each for principal applicant and spouse) and right of permanent resident fee (C$490 each for principal applicant and spouse) ready http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp
b) Identify how you will provide proof of funds http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp
c) check out what is required for the police certificates http://www.cic.gc.ca/English/information/security/police-cert/index.asp
d) find out how long it takes to get a date for the medical exam. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp
e) contact previous and current employers about them providing job letters. You must have at least 12 months of full-time, or an equal amount in part-time, skilled work experience. Full-time work means at least 30 hours of paid work per week. Work experience while you were a full-time student does not count. for trades category, to calculate the work hours> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/trades/apply-who.asp
f) research cities in the province(s) where you want to live.
This question gets asked quite often. i don't just wanna waste page space. thanks.
