So foreigners were able to maintain missions for 100's of years but the beneficiaries can't fund same? Squeezing an already squeezed population into paying more for education in a stagnant economy can only come from the mouth of someone who doesn't pay any taxes. The truth is nothing is a priority in Nigeria, not security, the economy, Healthcare and definitely not education, throwing money at institutions where our "leaders" have not stake in is a fools venture. A naive citizens would tell you to for Aso Rock clinic to have the best facilities, more funds needs to be thrown there, but a smart citizen know if the president and his family don't even know a clinic exists in the villa, money won't do shiiiiit Think about that if you still can tactius: Back in the 1960s, the number of people going to.school was.low enough for each regional government to cater for them.
Univerisitws back then had less than 5000 students enrolled.
Plus, mission schools existed.
Our problems started in the 1970s when government used oil boom money to take over mission schools, built a lot of new schools, polytechnics and universities.
These eventually started becoming a financial burden on the government from the 1980s onward when oil prices fell, and when our agricultural sector collapsed and could not compete with Asia.
That's when standards started falling.
Today, I doubt that any region, even if we brought them back, would be able to find education. There are far more people in school, and earnings are not enough.
Either Nigeria becomes an industrial nation or we take more loans to earn the billions we need for quality stuff.
We have no choice. |

There always seem to be money to fund the government, the budget always accommodates that, wardrobe and garage allowances, lol the joke is on you. The Southwest sponsored education with funds derived from COCOA derivatives. A lot of our leaders are testament to this. If we increase tax to 90%, if the Ameachi's , Osinbanjo's, Buhari's and Orjis of Nigeria don't patronize it, it would crumble. Same with Healthcare. Senator Adeleye recently berated the minister of health on his woeful performance and reminded him when they both worked there in the 80's and all the labs worked. These people have all checked out of Nigeria, they have ruled Nigeria in shambles for so long that shamble is now normal. Fela already put it succinctly 'the same leaders who destroyed Nigeria before are the same fools leading the blind' until this is changed we would be running around in circles tactius: The problem is, university still costs money to run.
I can organise revolution, and yes we need one, but it still doesn't change the fact that we have a budget of less than 70 billion dollars yearly.
Look, if you like, abuse me. But until we find a means of raising the money, either fees go up, or we take a big fat loan.
Nigeria can be as rich as Canada.. But when you people talk about sharing money as the way forward, instead of using our limited resources to make more money, like Candy, china etc do, what do you expect.?
Good morning to you. Let's be realistic. Good education ain't cheap .Amaechj is a hypocrite. So also are the millions of Nigerians who keep on voting for the same old APC and PDP and who told ASUU to go and sit down when they asked for their 3trillion naira back in 2013.
If you want good universities, you pay the money for them. |
Politics › Re: Obinna Amaechi Graduates From Simon Fraser University Canada (Rotimi Amaechi Son by StaffofOrayan(m): 11:43am On Jun 14, 2019 |
You are the descendants of a colonized / enslaved people, surrounded by poverty and anguish yet your solution is to raise taxes, the rich as usual have taken care of themselves with private/foreign universities. You are not a Canadian, you are a citizen of a "former" British colony. Wake up and fight for your poor, the rich don't need your help !!! tactius: And a good morning to you.
We can raise the money....but most of the measures to raise the money are considered anti-people by Buharists and PDPists and neutrals...so we won't get there.
Sorry the truth hurts. To be frank...it hurts me too. But we have to be realistic. Free eeducation is a pipedram.
Good am to you too. |

Research my claims on black jews deported to Africa from Europe, their persecution, inquisition and eventual slavery and the role of the church. And answer my question, even in the most remote places in Africa where islam/Christianity didn't reach they perform circumcision days after childbirth. Why did the papal bull coincide with the Portuguese 'discovery' and slavery of Negros? Don't be too quick to defend the Catholic Church Ubenedictus: no sir.
I'm not willing to learn rubbish, but I am happy to test your claims and research them |

Are you willing to learn or you want to ask silly questions? Ubenedictus: so the jews are Muslim Saracens? |

Hahaha Thats the funniest thing I have read. Look read about the expulsion of Black jews from Europe to Sao Tome, you would start to learn. Avoid Wikipedia Ubenedictus: the Saracens were Turk's not Africans, the Europeans usually painted their enemies in black. The Saracens were from the Middle East not Africa. |
Christianity Etc › Re: Seminarian Onyekachukwu Martins Converts Nonbelievers To Christians In Akwa Ibom by StaffofOrayan(m): 2:01pm On Jun 11, 2019 |
Read deeper and you would realize the 'saracens' chased out of Europe were black, Islam and Christianity has been our bane as black people even till today. You need to read more and understand the roots of racism in the world, we as black need to understand we are being destroyed by these religions. There is a reason we knew about circumcision before either religion brought their Crusade/Jihad, think about that carefully Ubenedictus: lol
That was a bull aimed at the Saracens, the moors, Turk's who were waging jihad against christians. Not chattel slavery in Africa.
The bull says that much.
Bishop Nicholas Servant of the Servants of God. For the perpetual memory of this act:
To the dearest son in Christ Alfonse, illustrious King of Portugal and the Algarbians,Greetings and Apostolic Blessing
While we turn over in our mind the diverse concerns of the office of Apostolic service entrusted to us (although we do not deserve it) by celestial Providence, concerns by which we are every day urgently pressed, we are also moved by a persistent encouragement: we chiefly carry in our heart that the well-known anxiety, that the rage of the enemies of the name of Christ, always aggressive in contempt of the orthodox faith, could be restrained by the faithful of Christ and be subjugated to the Christian religion. To this purpose also, when the occasion of the matter demands it, we laboriously expend our free [desire/eagerness/devotion], and indeed remember to follow with fatherly affection all the faithful of Christ, especially dearest sons in Christ, illustrious Kings, professing Christ’s faith, who, for the glory of the Eternal King, eagerly defend the faith itself and with powerful arm fight its enemies. We also look attentively to labor at the defense and growing of the said Religion and all things pertaining to this healing work, should proceed from our undeserved provision, we invite, with spiritual duties and grace, the faithful of Christ and also individuals to rouse their [positions/duties?] in help/support of the faith.
1. As we indeed understand from your pious and Christian desire, you intend to subjugate the enemies of Christ, namely the Saracens, and bring [them] back, with powerful arm, to the faith of Christ, if the authority of Apostolic See supported you in this. Therefore we consider, that those rising against the Catholic faith and struggling to extinguish Christian Religion must be resisted by the faithful of Christ with courage and firmness, so that the faithful themselves, inflamed by the ardor of faith and armed with courage to be able to hate their intention, not only to go against the intention, if they prevent unjust attempts of force, but with the help of God whose soldiers they are, they stop the endeavors of the faithless, we, fortified with divine love, summoned by the charity of Christians and bound by the duty of our pastoral office, which concerns the integrity and spread of faith for which Christ our God shed his blood, wishing to encourage the vigor of the faithful and Your Royal Majesty in the most sacred intention of this kind, we grant to you full and free power,

In 1452 Pope Nicholas V issued the papal bull Dum Diversas to King Alfonso V of Portugal which included the following words: “we grant to you…full and free permission to invade, search out, capture and subjugate the Saracens and pagans and any other unbelievers and enemies of Christ…to reduce their persons into perpetual slavery”– “to invade, search out, capture, vanquish, and subdue all Saracens, and other enemies of Christ wheresoever placed, and the kingdoms, dukedoms, principalities, dominions, possessions, and all movable and immovable goods whatsoever held and possessed by them and to reduce their persons to perpetual slavery, READ A BOOK BLACK MAN!!!!! joey048: when ?
