Hello forum, I just got back from Lagos, I have not been in lagos for 2 years. So I visited for 2 weeks. All I could see are opportunities. Really I don't see why people stress themselves to come to SA, as a matter of fact I am winding up my activities in SA and coming to come back to Lagos, I have given myself 3 years to do this. None of my friends that I left in lagos is on the same levelthey are all doing better. Apart from kia and hyudia there is no brand new car less than 5 million, yet people buy brand new cars daily and u can't see a 2015 model of car still on display as brand new, most 2015 cars are sold. Its only in Nigeria a house can be 250 million and u see pple paying cash upfront.
I think Nigeria has all the potentials, staying in another man's land isn't it at all. Mind you, by the grace of God I can never apply for any kind of visa in SA again as I am a permanent resident permit holder so I am not saying all these because I am frustrated.

U should do ur MBA at either UCT (GSB), GIBBS (UP), Witts or Stellinbosch anyothr place in SA for MBA is a waste of time.
The least u can pay for any of the schools is R200k living expenses for a year being conservative is btw 8 to 10k rands a month

Heyy..its ok. people with way lower cgpa's have gone to even the UK and have done masters. and by all standards most schools in the UK are way better than some S.A schools. SO call it out all you want its not the issue here. I have friends in S.A schools with lower points and they got in.

My younger bro is even over there doing his MSc.

Thanks for your concern
If I bring a masters degree from University College London and another guy brings from University of Cape Town or Witts and we apply for the same job in SA the UCT or Witts guy will get the job loooong before me. SA people value their degree, its better u choose UK. Masters in UK is 1year, engineering and tech course in SA is 2 years with a minimum of 1 year full research of which you must produce a paper. Have seen UK engineers have seen SA engineers and I know UK schools just get name. We used to do exchange programmes together and I can say with a 100% surety that UK pple know nothing beside SA trained engineer

stagerlee, bigerboy200 and others who responded, Thanks a lot.

You have a valid point , however for some reason, i cannot afford do a honors program again this year because most schools have closed applications for 2016 and already planning for 2017. Even the embassy in Nigeria have stopped receiving applications for honours and undergraduate programmes. The only study visa application they are accepting is for Masters (Coursework and research) and phD and other non degree related programs.

I am looking out for a Masters by research program for this year. I am very sure i can cope. I am just looking out for possible suggestions for schools. Waiting for another one year is not an option i can afford now

Tidying up applications with ukzn. Also who knows about ufs?

I have heard some of this schools are not that friendly to blacks. Is it true?
All I will say is don't because of Masters degree choose any school available, some schools are not worth it

segzy201 and others who can help.. pls kindly help out. I have a very big challenge.

I've been trying to secure a school for my msc (research) for over 6months now, but I have not been successful.

I have applied at almost all S.A. good schools. when I started d process I never expected it to be this hard because I have alot of pple over there who got admission without stress.

I have had saqa certificate for almost a year now. so Saqa is not the problem. I studied computer engineering.

uct, stellenbosch, up, all said i have to do honors. I can't afford dat after spending over 5years studying engineering in schl

Rhodes.. and unizulu said they can't take me cos of my 3.21 undergraduate cgpa

wits.. I spent 5months communicating back and forth with
U might have to do honours or opt for masters in computer science or other sciences! Recently a lot of nigerians start messing up at masters level hence they only give out honours

I put that to dispute your claim of lowest rates.

You should be able to offer a lower rate than a bank if you're serious
Actually if anyone feels the bank will be better he should go and approach the bank for his/her forex deals

I actually have a visa that has geography written on it but I went ahead to register for my geophysics course without any questions asked.
I think the most important thing is that the school is the same.

Although mine maybe a bit different from yours because I actually have an admission for geophysics but the embassy mistakenly wrote geography on my visa instead of geophysics.

But nobody asked me why do you have geography on your visa and you want to do geophysics. Or maybe they didn't look close enough...
Truth is you can register even without a visa it depends on who is on the desk, but if there is an issue and meet someone that is thorough then you will know. Cos it worked for u no mean say e go work for the next person on the queue

Maboneng. I didn't know about that place before I left SA.. Jozzi was kinda rough for me. I went to Park Station and that MTN park/station...very rough.
I'm back in the country now. I had a nice flight except when descending from 40000 feet altitude to land at MMA...this affected my eardrums..though getting relieved now. I don't know what that pilot was looking for at 40000 feet altitude..Kilode? We dey look for Shekau there?
Cape Town is my next visit in Nov/Dec. I hope I get to see some nice tourist sites there.
Why will you ever go to park station? Its like visiting Naija and going to Ajegunle.

like i said if you come in with a different visa for another course you wont be allowed to register. whether same faculty or not. just make sure what is on your visa is what you are coming to study.

@staggerlee, really appreciate your contributions.I actually overstayed for 9 days in October last year due to extension of my Training program in Pretoria,I am happy that i got the certification. the program was to last for five days but the assessor couldnt arrive form Europe on time and i was given just two weeks visa and i tried to get extension but failed. At the airport i was given a form to appeal.I now have company that are willing to emplye me over there.how do ingo about in in SA embassy in NIger or will i have to wait till OCtober this year.PLs yor advice will be highly appreciated
First, did u appeal the overstay? If you didn't you have to wait till october. Any company can offer u a job. Are they willing to get you a visa to work? Cos for a company to employ a non SA citizen, the company must prove to the department of Labour and home affairs thay no SA citizen or Permanent Resident is available for the job

Please house hw can i go abt dis i have scholarship letter in mechanical engineering ( thou mechanical is yet to be approved before I got the scholarship) and my admission letter stating chemical engineering can i use dis to apply at the embassy for study permit or need a note from my supervisor reasons for the different department on the scholarship letter and admission letter. Or I can go ahead and present like dat in embassy for visa application.
Get a letter, remember the course of study will be on your visa, so you can't register for another course I.e if Mechanical engineering is on your visa, u can't get to ur school and register for chemical engineeing. Its not allowed, so try and fix it

You are already planning to break the law before leaving Nigeria, this is really bad.
Coming to SA with a visit visa does not aallow you to stay more than 30 days, also u can not change your status of the visa. If u stay longer than 30 days u become an illegal. Please reconsider your move. We already have bad reputation in SA

Real temptation in deed. Can staggerlee tell us how d lecturer failed his masters mayb we can learn from this? Seems d equation relating temptation and resistance now is getting to that of inverse proportionality!
the guy was in University of the Witwatersrand doing masters, his masters was taught and research. he failed woefully in his taught courses then he was asked to leave.

have anyone visited some spots in Bramfontein n and see what Witts girls do or wear? @ogaTheTop2 try visit Maboneng in Jozi and see for yourself, its a sat evening though for today the patronage will be a bit low today cos south africans enjoy base on their pay day and pay day is 25th of the month, so people arent smiling now

back to the lecturer, he saw so many babes probably more than what he is used to, and he wanted to have a feel of so many and in process wasted valuable time which was meant for studies and he failed

Hello, sorry I'm just seeing this now. I've been busy exploring beautiful South Africa. Lol.
I bought my ticket for 113k through Aeroland Travels Nigeria Ltd, Ikeja. The journey was very smooth and I like the services of the airline. They have nice and new planes. You can use wakanow.com as well.

@Staggerlee, I passed Midrand yesterday on my way to Joburg. I visited Mandela statue at Nelson Mandela Square. Wow! It was magnificent experience for me. Like a dream come true. My next call is Newtown Cultural Precinct and SAB world of beer. Then I'm outa here back to naija this weekend. It's nice here but still no place like home....as for me.
I wonder why people come on holidays to SA and stop in Jozi or Gauteng. Boss you have not seen the beauty of SA through Gauteng. You need to have gone to cape town or PE. Jozi is for hustlers. The photo you took is Midrand Gautrain Station.
Why do people have to go to Rwanda or Kenya before going to SA. Just buy SAA and get to SA fast. Am going to Naija in a few weeks I bought my SAA ticket at R7900, I really dont see the difference in price compared to the inconvenience of going through Rwanda

This is one of the reasons South Africans don't like Nigerians!
In SA, there is a high rate of unskilled/semi skilled unemployment. So I don't know why the people you talk about don't get maids from the pool of unemployed in SA. If you come to SA to work as a maid or as any unskilled labourer, you are probably coming illegally. You can't get a work visa in SA for these kinds of employment, you can't have a bank account if you don't have a good visa. Please don't come for this reason, don't add to our already bad image in SA. SA need skilled workers not maids and domestic staff!

I'v been in cape town for a month now. If u like women, SA is surely a death zone. If u say d ladies are booticious, it is completely an understatement. These ladies have evrytn a guy can die for in a woman! Honestly, iv not started my research - I'm still observing. I pray for God's grace here despite my wife being with me. Thank God, she too can't hide her feelings. Evrytime, both of us call our attentions to these 'heavy duties'. God help me
Have seen a Nigerian Lecturer failing Masters degree just because of SA women. He was kicked out of school. I think there are more bootlicious babes in Gauteng compared to the Western Cape.

@Staggerlee.

I got into SA yesterday late in the night. I flew Rwandair. We had two stopovers at Kigali and Lusaka. The journey was smooth but tiiring. Rwandair tried. From take off and after every stopover, we were served meals. I even had wine on plane..lol.

Immigration was smooth at Joburg. No mention of bta, only days I would stay.

I decided to stay at Sunnyside. A nice place.

Right now, it's raining which made the weather cold.

Nigeria is lagging behind due to corruption. We still have a long way to go.

SA is beautiful. Things work here. Everything orderly.

85% of SA women are bootilicious...beautiful women. The men are just there sa..like gbonga fish.

Now, time to go out for fun.
Like I said have never been asked about BTA before in SA, Yankee or Europe. I wonder why people disturb themselves about it
Yes SA is beautiful but believe Gauteng is not beautiful. Sunnyside is in Pretoria, if u are by any chance coming to Midrand let me know or PM me and give me ur digits I will call
Lastly SA babes fine gan but be careful

Goodday everyone, I need advice regarding my passport and visa option. I went to south Africa in 2013 on visitor's visa and while I was there I tried getting a study permit but prove abortive. I had to wait for several months but no success getting the study permit.
I travelled back to nigeria 2014 after overstaying for over 10months. I travelled back with my passport expecting the south African immigration at departure will stamp undesirable for overstay on my passport but to my surprise she didn't even notice I overstayed. while I was still at the departure I saw about 4travellers who overstayed and got stamp for overstaying and we're taken to another office but I was neither stamped with overstay nor ask to go to any office.
Now the question is I plan going to south Africa this year and my passport will expire in august so i'm planning to go and renew it but the question is " is it safe if I renew and use to apply for another visa? Will my overstay on the first passport not affect my visa application? Is it better if I apply for study visa before leaving? Is that in anyway safer? Please I need your advice and suggestions. Thanks Y'all
I don't think its an issue, just don't over stay this time

Remember also if u get a job, u must report back to home affairs with your employment letter that is a condition for critical skills

Hello brother. Thanks for your assistance in this forum. Sir i have critical skill work permit which i got from nigeria. I am currently doing my masters in mechanical engineering@ ukzn and I don't have any publication yet then I want to apply for my PR.
Things are a bit harder with critical skills as compared to when its exceptional skills. It is expected that within a year of your critical skills you are gainfully employed, after the employment yo can apply for PR. You will @ one point, might need publications for your PR applications but under critical skills am not sure its compulsory. What is more compulsory is letter from a body and work references.

BTW, what visa are u using to study?
