If you’re not paying close attention, you might pass right by this sneaky piece in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. It was created by Luthuania-based artist, Ernest Zacharevic as a tribute to the late Russian street artist, Pasha P183 (otherwise known as the Russian Banksy).

10. Leaf Me Alone



This piece, created by an artist named Pejac in Spain, is proof that sometimes the simplest ideas are the most beautiful and creative. In this graffiti, the artist brilliantly uses the negative space as the actual art, instead of the other way around, like many other artists would do.

11. Too Late

The most famous street artist on the planet, Banksy, is known for his wide collection of provocative and controversial pieces across the globe. Although the recognized artist has so many impressive artworks to chose from, this piece about a global warming message is one of his most simple, yet most powerful pieces, found on a wall beside Regent’s Canal in North London.

12. You Can Stand Under My Umbrella

This gorgeous piece was put there by an artist who goes by the name “seth” somewhere in the U.K. and shows that street art can most definitely beautify a city. The colors in this graffiti, along with creativity of the raindrops, certainly makes this artwork spectacular.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation pledged $50 million on Wednesday to support emergency efforts to contain West Africa’s Ebola epidemic, which has already killed almost 2,300 people in the worst outbreak of the virus in history.

The U.S.-based philanthropic foundation said it would release funds immediately to U.N. agencies and international organisations to help them buy supplies and scale up the emergency response in affected countries.


It will also work with public and private sector partners to speed up to development of drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics that could be effective in treating Ebola patients and preventing further spread of the haemorrhagic fever-causing virus.

“We are working urgently with our partners to identify the most effective ways to help them save lives now and stop transmission of this deadly disease,” Sue Desmond-Hellmann, the Foundation’s chief executive officer, said in a statement.

Latest data from the World Health Organisation (WHO) show the Ebola outbreak, which began in March, has infected almost 4,300 people so far, killing more than half of them.

The deadly viral infection is raging in three countries – Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone – and has also spread into neighbouring Nigeria and Senegal.

The WHO said on Tuesday the Ebola death toll jumped by almost 200 in a single day to at least 2,296 and is already likely to be higher than that. It has previously warned that the epidemic is growing “exponentially” and there could be up to 20,000 cases in West Africa before it is brought to a halt.

Chris Elias, the Gates Foundation’s head of global development, said in a telephone interview the group would be assessing over coming days where funds could be best spent.

Some would go to the most acute and immediate needs, he said, and some would be put towards more longer-term research into treatments and ways of preventing future outbreaks.

“The spread of this disease has really happened because of the very weak health systems in these very poor countries,” he said. “We need to be thinking how we can build up those health services, how we train healthcare workers, and how we make sure they have the equipment they need to do their jobs.”

The Gates money comes after the British government and the Wellcome Trust medical charity last month pledged 6.5 million pounds ($10.8 mln) to speed up research on Ebola, a disease for which there is currently no licensed treatment or vaccine.

The WHO has backed the use of untested drugs, as long as conditions on consent are met, and is hoping for improved supplies of experimental medicines by the end of the year.

Britain’s minister for international development, Justine Greening, welcomed the Gates support, saying the “serious health, social and economic risks posed by one of the worst outbreaks of the disease require the entire international community to do more to assist”.

The Gates Foundation – set up by the billionaire founder of Microsoft Bill Gates to fight disease and poverty in poor countries – has already committed more than $10 million to fight the Ebola outbreak, including $5 million to the WHO for emergency operations and research and development assessments and $5 million to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support efforts in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

In its statement, the foundation said it would also give an extra $2 million immediately to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to support incident management, treatment, and health care system strengthening.

An Austrian footballer has been banned for 70 matches for headbutting a referee.
Ismail Gunduz of amateur side SK Rum received the punishment after he reacted furiously to being shown a second yellow card in the 87th minute of a match against SPG Innsbruck West.
"We distance ourselves from Ismail Gunduz's behaviour," Rum coach Michael Messner told a local paper.
"He was thrown out of the club with immediate effect."

Everyone’s favorite twisted king of horror wasn’t always on top of the world. Before he made it as a writer, Stephen King was an English school teacher who lived in a trailer with his wife and had trouble just paying his bills. His first novel Carrie, which his wife saved from the trashcan and begged him to finish, saw 30 rejections before being picked up. King went on to become one of the best-selling authors of all time, selling between 300 and 350 million copies, and having multiple stories transformed for the big screen. 5. Albert Einstein

World-class genius and arguably one of the most brilliant minds in history, is notorious for getting less-than-favorable grades in school. Proving that dedication is often half of the battle, Dr. Seuss’ books have sold over 600 million copies.

8. Sir James Dyson

When it comes to sheer dedication, there is possibly no one who can top James Dyson, creator of the now-famous, bag-less Dyson vacuums. While he was developing his product, Dyson created 5,126 failed prototypes and blew through his savings, over a fifteen year period. But, Dyson believed in his vision so strongly, that he didn’t let that deter him. His 5,127th prototype worked and the rest is vacuum history. Sir James Dyson was able to replenish his savings account and then some, as he is now worth a reported $2.7 billion.

Oprah Winfrey’s road to queen of daytime television wasn’t an easy one, by any stretch of the imagination. When she was 22 years old, Winfrey was fired from her job as a television anchor, after her boss told her that she was “unfit for TV.” Years later, she moved to Chicago where her now-famous daytime talk show was picked up, where she dominated the ratings for decades, before going on to build her own media empire. She is now worth an estimated $2.9 billion.

You might think with a name like “The King,” Elvis Presley’s life was paved with nonstop success and fried peanut butter sandwiches. But that wasn’t always the case. After his first performance at the Grand Ole Opry in 1954, the then no-name entertainer was fired by the venue’s manager who told Elvis, “You ain’t goin’ nowhere, son. You ought to be drivin’ a truck.”

10- Swallow & Breathe

Humans are the only mammal that cannot swallow and breathe at the same time. Any other animal in our world can breathe while they eat. When we are first born we can as well, hence why human infants can breathe while they nurse. However, we lose the ability to do both at the same time around 9 months of age. The reason for this is that our voice boxes drop low in our throats, which is unusual when compared with other animals. According to Discover magazine, having a low voice box is also why humans can resonate and produce a wide range of sound, but in doing so we lose our ability to drink or eat and breathe at the same time.

During the course of their entire life, an average human produces enough saliva to fill two swimming pools. Per Livescience.com, this equals about two to four pints of spit every day. Humans have six major salivary glands and hundreds of minor ones. Our bodies produce the most saliva in the late afternoon, while making the least at night. It’s actually a good thing to have lots of saliva as it aids in dental health, and assists with food digestion. So keep on drooling!

The acid in your stomach that helps you dissolve food is called hydrochloric acid, and boy does it pack a punch! Your stomach acid is so wicked powerful that it can dissolve razor blades. Here’s another example, according to howstuffworks.com, the acid in your stomach is so heavily concentrated that if you were to place a drop on a piece of wood, the acid would eat right through it. So how does our stomach not burn up or digest itself? Well, even though this acid is so tough that it can even dissolve zinc, it doesn’t destroy our stomach because the walls of the stomach continuously renew themselves. The cells in the stomach lining regenerate so rapidly that the acids don’t have time to destroy them.

Our skin is the largest organ on our body, and an amazing one at that. According to Discover magazine, an average adult’s skin spans 21 square feet. Our skin is composed of several layers, and when new ones are formed they eventually make their way to the top. When skin cells reach the top, they die and are ‘weathered’ by the environment. Scientists estimate that skin has close to 1.6 trillion cells, and 30,000-40,000 of those cells fall off every hour. Meaning in a 24-hour time frame, you lose about a million skin cells. Here’s more astonishing news- Each person will shed off close to 40 pounds of skin in his or her lifetime. I guess we can cut back on how much moisturizing we are doing since our skin is constantly dying off and re-growing itself.

Fact: Some women see more colors. A study took place at the University of California, which showed that up to 50% of women have four types of color receptors, rather than the typical three. In fact, a small percentage of women actually have 5 color receptors. Here’s an example- The average (normal) sighted person will look at a rainbow and see 7 different colors. Whereas someone with four receptors will see around 10 colors. So why women? It turns out that the red and green color receptors, which allow for a greater range of color vision, are found in the X (female) chromosome; blue is in the Y (male). In an interview in smithsonianmag.com a researcher states that “the nervous system that deals with color cannot be wired the exact same way in males as in females.”

An average man’s testicles produce 10 million new sperm every day, and the average human ejaculate contains about 180 million sperm. This is enough to repopulate the whole planet in just 6 months!!! Eager for more sperm info? Well, a single sperm contains 37.5mb of male DNA, which is required to create a child. This means that the average ejaculation transfers 1,500 terabytes of information. According to cbsnews.com, 90% of the sperm found in a male’s ejaculate is deformed. We’re talking two heads, two tails, pin heads, huge heads, apparently the list goes on and on. And here’s one last tidbit about those super-swimmers- everydayhealth.com shares the “ingredients” of semen and how it’s a lot like orange juice! How you say? Well the list is rather interesting, sperm contains – Calcium, potassium, sodium, vitamin C, citric acid, fructose, nitrogen, chlorine, and many more.

It’s been said that eating boogers may be good for you. Yeah… gross, but let’s hear the facts before we move on. Your boogers, or nasal mucus (they both sound unappealing), are designed to filter out contaminants. There is good news though… If you lose a pound of fat, your body will break down and reabsorb the blood vessels because they are no longer needed. Now we know why obesity and heart disease are connected. Sounds like a pretty good reason to stick with that diet!

The list is pretty shocking- You can survive with no stomach, appendix, gall bladder, spleen, and reproductive organs. But wait there’s more- The body can survive while missing 80% of the intestines, one kidney, one lung, your eyes, ears, and nose, and practically every organ located between the pelvic and groin area. Mind you, life will be far from easy without some of these organs, but it’s pretty fascinating to know our body can still function without them!
