I have read plenty comments on this subject with amusement and by extension gnashing teeth.

I will share my personal experience.

Life is a rollercoaster. A roller-coaster is a small railway at a fair that goes up and down steep slopes fast and.

Sometimes life can be dangerously unfair.

1) way back exactly 20yrs ago, I was among the lucky group that was admitted for Medicine with a JAMB score of 230. With a hindsight of morality I so much shudder in despair for a score as high as 302 not to be so worthy to claim a spot in a medical class. So pity. Mind u, we had no post jamb in our time and all u need is minimum of 6 credits in six subjects. To the extent that there was a common joke among medical students in thoses days that A1 in O' Level subject for entrance into medical skool is as useless as a p in psychology. because the admission officer rate both A 1 and C6 on equal footing. This references applies to Year 2000.
2) On a moral grounds this particular lady deserve a spot. No more no less. Whether catchment, regional, quota system or archaic system. she deserves an opportunity.

The unpalatable part is that, a big friend of mine, am so sure can be reading this; always T.O.T.C during our diploma days, scored same Jamb score like I did (230) but life was so unfair to him and was pushed to study something else apart from Medicine he applied for. Ups and downs of life sometimes.

MaNyEsq:
I am totally confused and not sure how to opine here. Excuse my naivete but I need a clarification: I did not know that In Nigeria, Human Anatomy is a separate and distinct major (course of study) from Medicine. While I was in Grad School, I took alot of the classes that are required for first and second year Medical students (Gross Anatomy, Microbilogy, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Histology, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Genetics, Oncology, etc) and had them paid for by the school since I was a TA (Teaching Assistant) and on stipend because I had intended to go to Medical School. But I changed my mind afterall (due to the length of time required including residency) and went to Law School instead after grad school. I said all these simply because the author of the article stated that the litte girl who scored 302 in Jamb was denied her choice of study, which was Medicine but instead offered Human Anatomy. Here in the US, Anatomy is one of the classes that Med students have to take along with the Lab. So, I am really confused and would like someone to enlighten me here with the system in Nigeria. Thanks!
To mr manyesq.

I ll do it briefly. Nigerian educational system as regards applied medicine and its application is quite unique and do not share in western ideals.

1) Just like monocultural economic model we practice here in Nigeria, as we depend only and only on oil rent as d only source of Govt funds. so also it applies to Nigeria style of medical education. Medicine is medicine when it comes to job hunting in Nigeria. if u study other relevant and allied course like anatomy, physiology etc. You are basically on your own. We don't have value chain for this courses.

2) And if you are tricked to study them as undergraduate with the hope of using it as a pedestal to gain Direct entry to study medicine in Nigeria ( courses like anatomy physiology etc) Ur chances of getting admission is 0.0001 to 0.001%. It is as bad as a Shit.

Is there a difference between a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist?
Which of the two is better in this situation?

BTW, how far with the OP's lover boy?
Thank u for ur Query or Quest,

A psychiatrist is Doctor of Medicine , in fact , a specialist in d field of mental health. And is certified by his training to deliver a psychotherapy session.

A psychotherapist on the other hand is not necessarily a doctor of medicine but a psychologist, whose training is of course psychotherapy. thanks.

A POLITICAL PARTY TRANSMUTATION, SCORING AN OWN GOAL: THE ESCOBAR PHENOMENON
Spur of the moment, the principle of self annihilation is a phenomenon common to “pathologie” and is called apoptosis. Why will a cell destroy itself and this apply to a political party that rode to power with high regard decided to bring detrimental political strategy of fear, atmosphere of political suppression of dissent and the prohibition of rule of law. The event of 6th of December is a faux pax in the democratic history of the country. Better no rule than cruel rule. Can we just abolish the court for now, just like someone says.
What is the driving force for a party that wishes to face the electorate in less than four years from now? Is the party ready to apply the Kogi-Bayelsa modus operandi for the national election hence the raison d'être for loss of sensation to the people chorus of disapproval. The Sowore conundrum is a matter that was needless to say the least, professionally, mismanaged by the general in charge of this regime. True to wise saying, You will only injure yourself if you take notice of despicable enemies. This statement best represent the almighty intelligent agency aka #DSS vs #Mr Sowore.
The moment of truth has come to stay. The world is watching closely. The unnecessary media coverage on political struggle and stiffening of press freedom will only land us back to worse global rating. It is so disheartening that our collective history is to bring back to memories event of 1983/84 and the jungle life technique of self styled General Sanni Abacha.
Arguably, we have decided has a nation to retrogress into discussing purely civil matter that has no significant correlations to our national development and economic growth just because of inability to remain civil and civilize by cutting corners, particularly the executive, to punish dissent in a gangsterism style. Unavoidably ,the government propaganda machinery will be set off to create social circles diversion and to stage the narratives by selling us the agenda of restructuring debates and the new found love to implement it. If this restructuring debate did not sell, they move to another like national identity card scam. If the latter fails they move to abolition of indigeneship

The name Escobar is first popularized by a Colombian drug Lord kingpin known as Paulo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, whose fate was assassination in 1993. The classica,l trace of history, borrow: pick is actually Andres Escobar Saldarriaga, a complete gentleman a world class Colombian footballer who played in USA 1994 coincidentally the marking of Nigeria first appearance in such Mundial after several neck breaking trials. He popularized own goal and was marked down by the cartel in his native homeland upon return. The two Escobars fate were similar. APC beware of the people movement (BOB MARLEY).

And Now Everyone knows Mr Sowore.

It is only time that will reveal what this political drama shall translate into for him. Whether it will catapult him to a national figure or hero we don't know. plausible bring forth a political baggage of controversial personal, we still don't know.
Albeit, one thing is certain he has extremely benefited from this unnecessary media coverage by happenstance - unprofessional handling of a civil matter by this Buhari led Milito-democracy regime.

I feel your pain bro.
Nigeria education system is frustrating.
Just imagine my own scenario, after spending 2years for my ond, i spent another two years vying for a bsc programme via direct entry. I applied to futa, passed their exam, was denied admission and was later told that only one N.D holder waa admitted via direct entry. Why were we not told from the onset?
Recently i gained admission via utme, it would be ideal for me to start from 200lvl since i have the qualifications for 200level admission ( age isn't on my side tho) but my wonderful institution has no provision for such.
Keep pushing bro.

As for the age, it doesn't matter once there is a will .

" History has demonstrated over and over again that underdogs readily curry sympathy from masses when the govt exercises too much power of the state."

I personally made appeal to people in govt to avoid attracting unnecessary world or global attention to what the international community will perceive as press stifling. We are notorious with bad ratings when it comes to openness and political press freedom evidence from our military history. Now amnesty international is
breathing on our neck as regards the continuous disregards of the release of Mr Sowore, has stipulated by the orders of the court. What is rule of law if court pronouncement is as useless as a yesterday newspaper. American senators have contributed their voices on this matter.

Premium times report is out showing background state dealings with mr sowore, despite their bold - face braggadocio boss man standing.

The implications of this is that the political rating of this guy will be increasing daily while that of mr Buhari ( GCFR) will be decreasing internationally.

You see, most people's comment here is borne out of ignorance.. Some believe the way they think is the way the doctor should think also.
Someone was talking about typhoid and appendicitis which are close in diagnosis. Funnily, the person could actually be having appendicitis and get better on the same antibiotics prescribed for the typhoid and end up not needing surgery.
Some blaming a doctor for adverse drug effect.
Someone said what he had was symptoms of high cholesterol but the doctor said something else. Cholesterol has no specific symptoms.
Someone said the doctor was already giving him drip before the test result which is a standard practice. You don't wait for result most times before administering fluids.

One said he was given ibuprofen for headache by a doctor. So what do u want for an headache he probably think it's primary?
Abrg Nigerians have failed this doctors' effort I must say
One woman went to Facebook to condemn the doctor seeing her relative. Blasted the doctor for giving glucose containing fluid for someone who was suffering from diabetes.
That is a very correct management cos at a point in managing diabetes complications you ensure you add a dextrose fluid because of the insulin. So your patient wont have sudden low sugar which kills faster..

And I wonder why they are only talking about the bad experiences...
95% of my patients leave my office daily saying thank you wholeheartedly...
Doctors propose to the government what should be done to improve the health system and its not done.
Hypocrites will not channel their brunts against the government but the doctors working under terrible conditions...
When they completely leave the country and it gets to a point where u need to kidnap the few remaining in order to answer to your need only then will they undersand.
Or you think oyinbo doctors will strive here? They will fail big time under this harsh condition.
There are bad ones but it's not as bad as it's being stated.
Give kudos when necessary
Thank u Leke!!!!

Reading thru life time experiences of clients with Nigerian doctors, has reinforced the need for we D doctors to swallow our pride and readjust to offer excellent service to our patient. To the patient we are so sorry. The pride of every doctor is to receive positive feedback from the client after medical engagement or consultation. More so Our practice recognized Strength and weakness ( talking about specialty and attention to details). A smart Dr should equally concentrate on such area of strength etc

This discussion has exposed the inherent intellectualism in average Nigerians. I love the the back and forth display of ideas generated along. This generation could also create a new force of thinking on this subject matters. That said.

To be candid, the Nigeria of today is capable of dislocating clear cut ideas on when a man should settle down to form his family. On account of myriads of problems making simple decisions in otherwise civilize society absolute complex on our shores. At this present times.

Taking answers to the what is wrong in U 33 man, Absolutely nothing is wrong. The decision to both male and female still settle on individualism and personality and perceptions. All of these are also heavily influenced by experience, environment and (E)diosyncracies.

This discuss has a multi prongs attach to it and there is no definite answers.

What works for taiye may not for kehinde and vice versa.

I am keenly overwhelmed with the national reactions and advocacy going or making rounds on how to restore Nigeria electoral process by adopting digital election for 2023. It is not yet Uhuru going by the arrays of opposition to adopting electronic voting system, however the volume of support to digital electoral process must continue to rise to convince ourselves that this is the best for us all at this present times.

We are so adamant to remain as a colossal failure to lead the black race in this competitive world or globalisation. Our audacity to stick to analogous process of electing our leaders despite the risk of wasteful destruction ,hitherto, unnecessary life and properties in this period of open society is pathetic and highly disgusting.

Are we so blind that electronic system will save all of us and by extension the world, enough headache and eliminate corruption and wasteful life of our dear population and bring forth credible leaderships.

Enough is enough. The 200Mi populations must for once wake up. 200Mi people should stop this act of blindness. This manual electoral voting system will never yield good fruits and is highly necessary we abandon it and adopt an electronic voting system that will eliminate physical contact with political elite influence, political thuggery obstruction and other archaic demeanor, some at best described as bestially act. Its time to lead the black race in the most civilize way with respect to electoral processes. I conclude.
