I'm yet to see the gain in winning the presidency. I rather be a janitor in a country that resembles Luxembourg with its little population and landmass than being the president of a country that slaughters its people annually.

Sam, I don't know what these people see in the presidency of Nigeria? I am perplexed at these people. Has the presidency produced anything? Being president of Nigeria is like being selected to an exclusive party only to be the butt of jokes by the party goers (i.e. other world leaders). Nigeria is a joke to the rest of the world.

My Eastern brethren, I tell you these people would love to see an Eastern president in 2015, so they can all turn on us together like they did 45 years ago. We don't want it, nor to we need it! We are waiting for the breakup of this unholy union called Nigeria.

Democracy gives people right to make choices as them deem fit. If Igbos are "cowards" and "chickens" like you said how is that your problem? I hate to comment on silly threads but this hypocrisy is nauseating. Before you ask Igbos to protest do you first ask the Nigerian state how many short-changings and injustices it has perpetrated on Igbos since the end of civil war? Maybe you fail to realize that what many in Nigeria are complaining today Igbos have seen 10x. We all need to quit calling people names because they peacefully chose a different path unless this is no longer democracy. FYI Igbos challenged 1966 pogrom with the rest of the east alone, they fought the war alone, Yorubas were the main group that took up the injustice meted out to MKO, Ijaws have been fighting their battle practically alone, Zango Kataf have been doing their thing alone, Berom is resisting their former ally all alone, Ogoni stood alone during their own ordeal, so tell me when has Nigeria spoken with one voice? This country was founded on lies upon lies upon lies and for any particular group in 2012 to act like they are mr innocent is laughable. At this point the only protest worth embarking on is for national conference considering the murderous level we have descended to.

Che this man is too much o  smiley

It was thoughtful, but what is all this ONE voice, ONE people, yada yada yada. Are some of you blind and deaf? Nigeria is the land of MANY voices and MANY people!!!! That is the reason why you have all these problems. Have you seen a map of Europe? Do you realize that almost all those countries are nations of separate European tribes? Look up Angles, Saxon, Jutes, these are Germanic tribes and you will see these tribes later became nations. Notice that the country is tied to language/culture, In Germany, the people speak German which is also the name of the people who are German, Spain/Spanish, England/English, Italy/Italian, understand? Can imagine you imagine the French, Spanish, and Germans being in ONE nation called Anglo-Saxon or whatever the hell it would be called? Wouldn't they face the same issues that we have now under ONE Nigeria?

If you can't see this, you are clinically brain dead!

That is why no IBO man will be Nigerian president in foreseeable future. Even at senate level they fail. 4 senate presidents in 2 years. No one trust ibo man here, they are sell out. Nzerebe sold arms to federal Govt to kill his people. Ibos dont even like themselves not to talk of others. So they can mortgage their children future for money. May be jona will sell fuel for 20k in south east

Igbos do not need the presidency. We are hardworking people who do not need government handouts. If a man earns anything in Nigeria, let him work hard and hustle for it, that is the igbo way. We will continue to let others run this country until its eventual death so that we are not to blame. We will not be this country's scapegoat for its failure.

Have these fools asked themselves why muslims are not attacked daily in the south? Have they ever noticed that any attacks on hausas in the east are reprisals? Do they realize that they (muslims) start and instigate all these conflicts? These people are a heartless bunch of people who try and find justification for their evil doings. The world is watching.

I hope thats all it is - a rumour! But if Hausas are attacked in West or SW then I will attribute that to Igbos trying to hide behind Yoruba identity to forment trouble. As of now, Yoruba has no reason to attack Hausa. That could change if Boko fail to heed OPC's warning.

So please OP, update your distribution to reflect what I just told you.

What kind of nonsense is this? Your hate for igbos is so strong that you would say such a thing. Igbos want to hide behind a Yoruba identity Stop spreading lies!!!

Igbo's need to wake up and get out of the North. If Northerners are fleeing without being chased then you need to be thinking about what they know, that YOU DONT!!!!!!!!

We know this already. They are planning more attacks, if anybody decides to stay up north and they have the means to come south, they are on their own. We are not stupid. We know that some hausa civilians and those in police and military help boko haram. A lot of igbo people have left the north already.

Since 1970, what leader has done anything for Nigeria but help to send it back into the Stone Age? Please give me an answer.

All this fingerpointing is stupid. The North and the West have ruled Nigeria since 1970 and did nothing. The country has gotten poorer and less safe while the white man is made rich off of your follery. Now a SS man rules and things are still going as it has since 1970. The country is inherenlty ungovernable because we have too many divisions (North/South, Muslim/Christian, tribal, etc). We also have to many outsiders with interest in OIL. IMF, Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, and the entire West influence the politics of this so-called country. These divisions fuel distrust, corruption, greed, and lack of empathy for fellow countrymen. No single group is at fault but all of us are collectively to blame for believing in one Nigeria which is a BRITISH CREATION. Nigeria is on life support. I am awaiting the death and burial of this so-called country!

@ Musiwa, I detest talking about TRIVIAL & WASTEFUL things. Ask yourself, what is there to INHERIT in Abuja? What is there to fight about? Why would any sensible person fight over an ARID LAND ( Abuja ), if you seprate the buildings, what do you think is left? the buildings are not ASSETS. Go into the history of the civil war, and find out the SOUL of that war. Why the foreign nations that backed the Fed Govt of Nigeria did so, it was not cos of the SKY SCRAPPERS in Lagos.

My fear is this, if things gets out of hand in Nigeria, you'll see how much  FOREIGN POWERS  will PROTECT, SUPPORT & SUPPLY WEAPONS to the same REGION where their INTEREST & INVESTMENTS  are located.

Abuja, is simply an EMPTY desert, as long as Nigeria exists, the OIL is the SOUL of it.

Tell 'em! If 1 million people are killed tomorrow in nothern Nigeria, the West (US, UK, etc) will not care one bit, but let there be a war that prevents OIL from pumping in the Delta, They will be here quicker than you can say abracadabra!

Growing up, I had many yoruba friends. Its a shame so many of them hate us, because we have a lot in common. I have lurked on NL for some time and just started posting. I never heard such hate for us in person. After the war, we were giving 20 pounds each, our property was seized, making us among the poorest people in the world. By the grace of God, 40 years later we have essentially are equal or surpass them in almost every sphere of life from sports, entertainment, academics, business acumen, beauty/good looks, shear determination, etc. We have waxed stronger and stronger. We have been through more than any people in Nigeria and we still hold our heads up high. I'm sure that some of it is envy. Jealousy is just love and hate at the same time.

The Fate of Igbos in Nigeria might not really be different from the fate of the jews in the Diaspora. i want to suggest to igbos that the way out is to leave any state with more than 50 % muslims in the north as the first step to be taken. This means all the states won by CPC in the last election excluding Kano, Kaduna and Abuja , Secondly there should be an All igbo economic summit and an All east Econonmic Summit to refocus the igbo Economic outlook in the face of War.

The Governors of the South East will need a have a full functional office with highly dedicated staff whose duties will be taking care of Displaced individulas from the North, articulating plans to forge New Econonmic bases that can sustain the contious influx of people from the North without causing devastation to the economic stability of the East. Raisng a Body that will take up the case of Igbos to the British , french , american, canadian, Russian, chinese, japanese,South African , south Korean, and German Governments including making presentations to NATO, OAU, ASEA, G8 e.t.c on the fate of igbos in Nigeria, how they have subjected igbos to continueds yearly genocides with their support for one united Nigeria.

Presentation to the UN , world court and International human Righ bodies, world council of Churches should be prepared too. The respectvie Disaporan igbos can fund and support this too.

I believe with this something can be negotiated for igbos in the Committee of Nations , other Nationalities who are being threatend by Bokoharam can take up their cases too like the Christian middle belt and the Niger Deltans.

The UN draft is already completed. It includes documentation of the atrocities that our people face in this hell called Nigeria. The people that drafted it in live in the states. They will continue documenting these things until we break from this unholy union. In addition, Many Igbos/easterners both young and old all over the US are ready to supply millions of dollars in funding to these causes. I have family members that know prominent people including US politicians and hollywood actors that are aware of what is happening to our people and they will be ready to support the actualization of Biafra. These people don't know who they are messing with.

From this thread I can say a number of things:

-Igbos have an overt enemy: hausa fulani and islam. It is easier dealing with such an enemy
-Igbos have a covert enemy: their big neighbour down south. It is more difficult dealing with such enemies.
-I have noticed the insinuations of people like Tpia suggesting covertly that Igbos in the north are the ones leading BH to other Igbos. I am not surprised at such insinuation.
-Igbos should not fight a war on account of Igbos living in, and being killed, in the North. We should pray for them and see how we can help them relocate.
-We should in fact ask our respective governors to relocate them NOW. Anyone unwilling to leave should be told the consequence in plain terms: we will not fight for you when they kill you.
-The killings should be protested by Igbos in Igboland and by Igbos all over the world. Other Nigerians do not care about you, except those married into Igbo families.
-Igbos will and should fight only when they bring the war to Igboland
-All Igbos here should tell their relatives living outside Igboland (especially those living outside the former eastern region and Delta) to reduce their investments in those places. If we survive this current onslaught we should be better prepared for future ones.

Wise man. I agree with everything you said. Any Igbo man or woman that disagrees with this, is a fool.

I don't understand these northerners, let igbos stay in your state = NO, let igbos go and form their own state = NO!

If they allowed Biafra to exist, igbos would not have established themselves in the north, thus there'll be no need for the 3 days ultimatum. I bet if igbos decide 2 leave nigeria and let them have their sharia nigeria, they'll still reject that! Do these people even know what they want?

Suppose I need to go and join the British red cross because we'll soon need to send aid to the east! Hopefully Israel and France would help again cos these people will only rest when they have wiped every single igbo person from the face of the earth!

God help us!

There are 30 million+ igbos (not including Ibibio, Efik, etc.), they will not destroy anything. These people needed help from all other tribes in Nigeria and world powers of UK and Soviet Union to keep us in this cesspool. They better hope that Ndigbo does not declare war on them. Peace is always the best option.

You southerners are probably more of our problem than even aboki. That is why we must watch our backs more in the face of all these provocations. We don't know who is really behind it.

In my heart of hearts, I know (as any knowledgeable Igbo would know) that in a hypothetical war between ONLY Igbo and Hausa/Fulani, there is no way they can win. Our loss in Biafra was more as a result of southern gang up and foreign support to Hausa/Fulani led aggression against us.

We must not allow ourselves to be provoked into another war until we are ready.
Methinks that when we are ready, even aboki will not want war.

Good one OnlyTruth. These people need to know history. Ndigbo are warriors. It took the British a very long time to colonize the east. Hausa/Fulani will not be able to cry to UK and the Soviet Union for help this time. The southern gang up will not work either. It says something when you need that much help to fight a war against a people that make less than a quarter of Nigeria's population. We will see if others want to join them in their mayhem. Even Mike Tyson can lose a fight if he is fighting against 12 teenagers at the same time, but they cannot win against Tyson one on one.

Imagine GEJ going to the mainly Hausa military and telling them to protect Christians up north and kill their crazy Hausa-led Boko Haram brethren. They may kill him on the spot for suggesting such a thing.  The only time they attack Boko Haram is when these fools harm one of their own military brethren. When Boko Haram kills Christians they do next to nothing. GEJ is a puppet just like Obosanjo. I think some of you people are delusional if you think that there is a real power transfer with the presidency. The power and influence is still tied up with the northern elites. They determine whether we have peace or mayhem.  I don't know why Nigerians are so slow and dimwitted.

Please be honest with your posting. The people that were killed in Mudi were Igbo traders. There is no need to add Yoruba. A simple google search shows that BBC and other credible news agencies say that the victims were Igbo. I am sure that many want to take vengance but the hausa led military will be watching their moves as they allow more Igbos to be harmed. There is no doubt in my mind that certain northern elites and Boko haram sympathizers in the military are aiding in these attacks.
