ttmax09: Boom, way to go, binance and other crypto currency exchanges need to start fixing the daily price limit according to the official exchange rate, if they can't then they should be banned from Nigeria alongside every other crypto site, the speculation is to much, even BDC guy will check binance before giving you a rate. Una dey talk anyhow....is Binance the problem of Naira Okay now that they fixed the max sell price, Naira would drop to $1-NGN120 |

kolaish: As for the naira/dollar discussion, it is relative and has much to do with where you are coming from, and your current position. For example, from 1st January 2023 till 30 January 2024, my portfolio in stocks appreciated by 384%. During same period (January 2023 - 30 January 2024) the dollar appreciated by less than 200% (from around N700/$ to N1,500/$). So, with this narrative, I am better with my stock investment than being on dollar holding.
Moving forward, the dollar is now selling @ N1,600/$, and the highest price I see the dollar in January 2025 is N3,000/$, which is less than 100% appreciation. The crucial question to ask is, if one can make more than 100% appreciation in its portfolio between now and January 2025. As for me, I think I can make it. So, I don't need any dollar investment for now.
* dollar rate quoted is more of black market rate We should arrive at $1 - NGN3,000 by summer 2024. 2025 we should be looking at above 5,000 with this level of cluelessness from FG. If you want to know how bad it is...the politician you are hoping to do the right thing is also calling mallam to load USD |

yMcy56: Funds still entering the market despite the TB rate that many are shouting about.
DANGSUGAR for instance, if anyone follows the activities there yesterday, he'll notice that the more some investors probably in profit were selling, the more people were making use of the opportunity to buy. - It went all the way to -10% at some point and quickly went back up to close @75+ again. - Huge funds still entered GTCO, FBNH and some other stocks despite the sell off witnessed generally, and quite some stocks still gain at COB. - Guess, this is the type of opportunity some bargainers mY have been waiting for. - No one should see his/her own investment plan as the best at any given time.....if they go, they'll still rush back again. - Each should follow what works best for him/herself. - Anyone moving to TB, good luck to them. They shouldn't make those in the market look like they don't know what they're doing. The fact is if CBN continues with this aggressive policy, it will only hurt the stock market more. A fund manager that has had a good run in the market from 2023 will take profit and move funds to T-bills with this good rates + stability. Investment doesn't not care about our emotions, the CBN is interested at stabilizing the Naira and the stock market is only secondary for now. |

The deceit is too much in this country....I just bought USD today $1510 at the parallel market.
Cardoso is just deceiving himself...all this 24hrs circular will not address FX challenges.
The govt needs to resolve the issue of crude oil theft, insecurity so our farmers can go back to the farm, encourage diaspora remittance and build investor confidence. Anything outside this is bullshit.

This one everybody is putting hope on Dangote Foods, I hope the results don't dissapoint based on the current price. I am also holding this stock, but i hate over expectations. We all know why BUA is rising, which is due to free float. What happens if FX affects the PAT for Dangote foods |

Locotrader: Devaluation and inflation in the country.
When you sell stocks and hold cash, your money will vanish within months and you will be asking, what did I do with money.......
When you sell stocks and buy dollar, you will not have rest of mind like oando shareholders because of uncertainty.
3 things are for me now because of devaluation.
To invest more money in my passive income(shares) because it is the right place to remain now to combat inflation.
To inject more more in my active businesses to take care of family needs.
To buy some portions of land from Japa people at bargain prices. With way Nigerian politicians think, then it won't be a bad idea to add no.4 which is holding USD as part of investment strategy. |

Bizibi: the problem is getting a potential buyer to buy those scraps. They need to lower the price on them because I saw the price on pH refinery and I told myself I will take extra effort to make an investor to cough out 500m Dollar for that refinery now. Couple with fact that $500M during GEJ era is not the same value in Naira now The govt. needs to tackle this Naira issue. I dont care how fantastic your policies are, if you cant stabilize the Naira, forget it. Nigerians too are not helping, people are now, pulling out of investments and holding the $ as an investment channel. Do you blame them? |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by stcool(m): 12:03pm On Jan 30, 2024 |
Bizibi: as far as I am concerned dangote refinery is for international market, people should be more focused on the port Harcourt refinery. Infact we need more modular refinery for domestic demand. The govt has no business running refinery. We missed it when the sale of those Refinery was reversed. I expect BAT to sell off those Refineries to serious pivate sector investors. |
