Charles Aigbe, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communications at the bank, said since the commencement of the TSA policy, all TSA related accounts held by the bank were fully disclosed to the authorities. “We do not have any TSA related account with a balance of $24.5m in Fidelity Bank which has not been remitted to the authorities,” Mr. Aigbe said in a statement. “This matter is coming to us as a surprise. We are therefore reaching out to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation to ascertain which account or parastatal they are referring to with a view to carrying out a detailed reconciliation.” |

PETERiCHY: You just said the CRUX of our message but some will keep frustrating themselves thinking it is others that is behind it.
While some of us sealed very good deals between MAY/JUNE when the opportunity came and are ready to wait for months, if not years to get better bargains.
Nigeria Stock Exchange is no longer a place you put your money and go to bed that ERA is dead and buried else the Cowboys will frustrate both you and your money. Period!
*ThE OcToPuS* Thank you Oga PETERiCHY, when you talk they say you are creating panic or talking a stock down. I don't know how much we trade with here that would determine market movement, when we know the real movers out there. |

stcool: https://nairametrics.com/uba-share-cancellation-explained-but-questions-remain/
Unanswered Questions remain
Despite the robust explanations by the bank, a few pertinent questions remain unanswered. Figures from the 2016 annual report of the bank show the Earnings Per Share was calculated using 34,054,857,094 shares, excluding the shares held by the SSIT.
The bank has used two different outstanding share figures to calculate earnings and dividend per share respectively. In addition. the bank’s balance sheet does not contain any entry in respect of the dividends and bonuses accruing to shares held under the trust. As the confusion rages, the bank has maintained silence in the midst of a lack of transparency. Emails to the bank’s investor relations unit have not been replied, as at the time of posting this story.
If the Vanguard story is true, then I think it is good news for both UBA & Afriprud, just that UBA benefits more in the short term. Any borrowing to buy the shares by APR would obviously be reflected in Q3 report.
But Uncle TOE...I salute. More confusion for the masses! |

And people are wondering why others are pricing stocks at ridiculous prices, when those in charge are serving their own interests. Yes FBHN may get to N10, same with Dangote Flour, but have seen much in this market to enter stocks at their year highs. I would rather miss the opportunity and wait for another one to present itself. |

Rex123: Hello house!! I am still new to the market, I am considering buying some stocks. which would you advice me to go for and why? thanks Read most of the old posts, it would guide your investment decisions. Most importantly you must identify your investment objective - Long term or short term, capital appreciation or dividend etc. Not forgetting the very risky JIJO trade Good luck! |

yok: MARKET RETRACES- FIBONACCI COMES TO PLAY- WATCH 31,887.96 LEVEL
This week ended the recent bullish run in the market. But, the general uptrend is still on. The next determinant point will be the above level of 31,887.96, if market refuses to bounce back at that point, the index may go down further.
However, the interesting thing about this market is that it is only equities that gained more recently that are mostly affected by the prices collapse/profit taking. I expect the down trend to continue next week as the funds need to realize some profits for their shareholders.
There is high probability that the bull will only return in July. Therefore, if we see that our position is threatened it will be a good time to sell. I see no justification, in allowing a profit to turn to a loss in the face of rapidly falling prices, when I can still pocket some profits now, then come back to buy same equity at as lower price. For this reason, if I bought May and Baker at about 3.50, by the opening of the market on Tuesday, I will liquidate all my holdings fast.
Likewise, I am keeping Dangote Flour under close watch, once it goes below 4.50 I will sell for a minimal loss of about 5%. I expect this to retrace to about NGN3.65 To 3.85 which will be a fantastic entry point again. The chart for this is shown below.
Knowledge of technical analysis is an edge in this market as it keeps one fully confident of what to do when there seems to be confusion in the market. For now, I have liquidated some stocks to have funds to play the Quarterly return game, which should be part of the bread and butter strategy for a good technical analyst. It could be risky, but if we know how to play it, it is highly rewarding. This is the junction we have been waiting for. I will give one "expo" here within the next 2 weeks.
Caution: Investing is a risky venture. This is just my opinion and I cannot be liable for any loss suffered as a result of following this recommendation All data used are assumed to be correct, but you may need to verify some of the figures independently. Oga Yok, I had to pull this out. What are the possibilities in the chart for the highlighted; Dangote Flour, May & Baker and FBHN inclusive. Dangote Flour is a hard nut to crack, holding steady above expected entry. |

emmanuelewumi: I guess management, insiders and some investors like me bought at those prices and even at lower prices. But those purchases were done in the personal capacities of management, insiders and informed investors.
The share buy back was approved by shareholders during the last AGM, and the buy back was done by the company. I share buy back also needs the approval of SEC.
If you are a value investor you will agree with me that UBA is not a N10 stock. I agree, I dey follow you back in the days... |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by stcool(m): 4:24pm On Jul 18, 2017 |
robobo: wicked question
but i think it is because share buy back is not authorized in Nigeria (just like short selling is not ) , i might be wrong though
could also be because this is being bought back from a staff scheme which has a shelf life which just matured (hence not available when it was N3 /N4 / N5 e.t.c)
my layman thinking though, wld appr8 the experts opinion on same We are on the same page, Imagine if the shares is picked up by an institution or private equity. TOE would rather have it back into UBA, wouldn't be a bad idea UBA shares rubbing shoulders with Zenith bank as Africa's Global Bank. |

emmanuelewumi: Why waiting for market reaction? Market reaction might not be positive immediately.
When Fbnh had her agm the market did react immediately, but those who bought immediately after the AGM should have made 70%. I hope they react -vely, for me its a welcome development and I would place a buy tomorrow. Just that with such news, in NSE the first thing people do is withhold and watch. |

emmanuelewumi: I think that is a nice one from Tony.
Management who have confidence in the future of their companies should not be bothered by the cheap valuation by the market.
If the market value my company at N9 and I know that the company is worth N15, the best thing is to buy back the shares. For me very positive, would watch how market reacts tomorrow and find my way into the stock ahead of year end. |

locodemy: If it is a good news,it must surely reflect in tomorrow's trade.I doubt it. Yea its a good news, as emmanuelewumi said its more like a share buy back. The price can have a good run with this, as outstanding shares would decrease + increased dividend coming. UBA is a place to look atm. Q2 in my mind! |

OBAGADAFFI: Interesting! “Following the transfer, the bank will complete all relevant processes to effect the cancellation of these shares.
“Upon cancellation of the 2,080,104,955 units of ordinary shares, the outstanding shares of UBA Plc will be reduced by the amount accordingly,” the statement released today said.

I hold ConOil stocks at N40, the other day some guy pointed out why he thinks ConOil has a problem in their financials, I just raised a point why I would hold for longer. Does that mean because I bought at N40 and someone is is waiting to buy lower he is talking down the stock. NO. I bought for a reason and would sell based on my objectives. Its a market we buy/sell at different prices, nobody should make investment decisions from a discussion alone. But you can't stop people from raising issues and discussions. |

kolaish: With due respect, you may not be fair in your assessment. It is the duty of all in this forum to draw the attention of others to whatsoever anyone see and from their own perspective (either positive or negative), we cannot all sleep and face the same direction. Even our dear Peterichy do makes some good points at times. I just did not want to reply the Child...you make N50,000 and less from a stock and you think you are making money and come out to talk. If you are given 3M to 5m would you put it inside Oando is the question, since you love to take risk. That a stock is going up or down does not stop people from pointing out wrong doings with management. Nobody is forcing anyone to buy/sell their stocks. This is a forum where people share ideas and thoughts. |
