exactly. The woman was probably lenient. For the driver to ask for a hug at the end of the trip showed she could have entertained the toasting all through the trip. If the driver had been shut up he won't dare ask for any hug.

If it was me ill query my wife on why she couldn't halt him rather than targeting the driver.
This is the same way people shame rape victims. Asking why would she dress that way, why would she go out at night, why would she meet him in an hotel.
Not every lady can behave like a tout, like someone said earlier, some ladies are very classy. The wife has no blame whatsoever in this scenario, I can’t believe y’all can blame her for anything.
People report drivers for way lesser offence than this. What exactly is wrong with the husband reporting the driver?

Y'all should be careful with rider's properties no matter how small or irrelevant you think it is.
Earlier this year, one of my drivers was traced and arrested because of a bottle of groundnut. Groundnut wey my guy don down with his wife.

Just one bottle, this woman no gree o. She requested for that particular one She forgot in his car. After so much begging, she let him go but not without the IPO milking us.

Bro I still like Yaris. I've tried buying a Tokunbo few times after that experience but the car is too expensive.
I'm sure you would also run from any naija used yaris if you had the same experience I had.

Chai! I tried this once, I didn't make a dime from the car. Yaris is a troublesome car to fix.

Thanxz, meanwhile, I am about to get a cheap Nigerian used Yaris with the intention of changing its engine. I want to use it for uber. Is this a great idea?

And advice, opinion or suggestions?

Bro unless u are lucky to get surge trips the best u can get on camry for 2k fuel is 8k. When corolla sef is raking in 10k. That car is 2.4litres for a reason. It's almost 1.5x heavier than the corolla.
This is correct

Camry muscle is not really that fuel consuming. I use average 2k fuel to do 8-10k on daily basis, 4K fuel to do 17-20k on a good day. The way people come here to exaggerate how fuel consuming Camry is baffles me a lot. It’s very close to Corolla. It’s just d tank is bigger
That is not correct

You will get a lot of different responses.

1. From hard working drivers with good cars who will tell you the business is very profitable.

2. from hard working drivers with bad vehicles who will tell you it is not profitable.

3. from Lazy drivers with good cars who will tell you the business is dead

4. from Lazy drivers without cars who will tell you to forget it and find something else to do. (They always have time to post negative things)

5. from Vehicle owners with good cars who don't drive but own 1 or more vehicles, they will tell you it is profitable.

6. from Vehicle owners with bad cars and bad drivers who will tell you to forget it.

7. From people who have no idea about what we are saying but just want to make noise. They will respond but will be off point.

I will tell you it is profitable if you have a good car.
And mostly profitable if you drive yourself.

Sharp Sharp? I was in festac for over an hour on Wednesday no request. I eventually drove to the airport to hunt request. Festac is not reliable on weekdays. I wouldn't go there if request was flowing.

Not true.
Talking about festac, just dropped someone just before the link bridge. I told her I won't go over the bridge that she has to complete her journey with bike. After plenty agidi, she paid me and took bike.
Festac is not bad if you know your way around very well, if not, don't even dare.
Meanwhile, my first taxify trip in over 6hrs just dropped. Sigh!

can u recommend any in the range of 800k-1.2M?
That price range will get you a naira used car. Up your budget a little, a 1.3 matrix or corolla should still be sound enough for the job.
Someone I know is selling a clean 2004 matrix used for 5 months(not on uber) for 1.450m if you can up your budget a little, it should be a good buy.

Well, the biz isn't as lucrative as it was according to the veterans in it. One would need to work extra hours to achieve a reasonable amount and you need to have the right tools, even with the right tools u still need to work smart and with God' guidance and Grace you can breakeven or breakthrough.
As per choice of car, this is a daily discussion on this thread, we have had from Peugeot (406, 407, ew10 engine), bin the best to bin the most sensitive mongst them, then the 07 civic to be not too strong, Elantra to be the best but the engine and transmission would cost an arm and a leg, 03-07 corolla is best suited for the job but u will drive with your heart in your mouth and sleep with one eye open. Although I believe with good maintenance culture, u should get value for your money should u go for : Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Yaris, kia Rio, 05 Civic.
You didn't add matrix, it's cheaper than corolla. I just added a matrix to my fleet and the car is so sweet.
I'm driving it myself for a week before handing it over.

Don't ever try to start the trip. Starting the trip gives the rider an option to rate you poorly if you later decide to move on without taking the trip with the rider. I normally call the rider before getting there that I am around. Then call again after waiting for about 2mins. I move on after 5mins elapses no matter what the rider says.
Time na money
I would wait for 30minutes if the rider was going from Ajah to Abule Egba grin

that's me... The way some drivers rev /accelerate ehn... U will think the car would fly... Why not make sure the needle is between 2000 and 3000 rpm. And you will still hit top speed....
Had to educate one uber driver about this when I used uber recently. He was driving a 2007 Camry and revving like mad, only to slow down at the next traffic stop/round about. He didn't even know the implication of his driving habit.

According to "google", using the 05 as base model, matrix produced 29city and 33 highway at 29combined average. Corolla did 28city/37highway at 31 combined average. Matrix marginally better in the city, corolla beats it hands down on the highway.
In uber/taxify context, matrix is better than corolla cos we do more city driving to highway.
I used the 2003 as base model tho and matrix came out tops.

They make use of same engine capacity, so I guess consumption will be same, but when we factor in weight, the one heavier will consume a bit more... So which is heavier, corolla or matrix...
Google directed me to so many different sources, how they all came about a better mpg for the Matrix compared to the corolla I have no idea.

If you know your car is bad, please fix it before giving it out. How can we move forward when we keep trying to sell a lemon to someone.
If your alternator is bad, get a new one
If your compressor is bad, get a new one
If there is a leakage in your exhaust, get a new one
If there is a hard start, get a new one
If your shocks are bad, get a new one.

This happened to a friend of mine and it's quite sad to know that people can't uphold honesty, and sincerity when doing business.
If you are the partner, please kindly do the needful by giving him his balance, be civil and let's not create an issue out of it

I agreed with you based on the highlighted.

But everybody cannot come and be asking for drivers with over 2 year Uber experience.

Drivers are human and also need to make significant progress in their life.

Uber driving isn't like a career with progression ladder. You need to have a plan and objective from the start.

Yes, circumstances differs but rarely would you get a driver with over 2 years experience still looking for a car to drive on rental.

So sir, what is your plan for the man you know. Are you giving him a car or getting someone to give him a car. Please do help him. Thanks
I agree with you too, especially the boldened.

I really wish to work with him but I have no reason to sack any of my drivers for now.

He will definitely find a way, it comes with the two years experience.
