dru23: I have at least 3 elantras on my fleet on uber specifically .. The car is good and didn't have major issues at all.. The transmission issue they are talking about I don't know o ..the only transmission issue was due to the drivers fault.. Parts can be expensive and I had to change alternator in the car ..I think most cars start having alternator issue at about 150k miles or so ..I can't really think of any other issue for ..the people that complain about parts issues are mostly likely buying warn out parts.. Very hard to get good parts in ladipo ..and also I make sure they keep good maintenance culture on the car ...my cars are all tokunbo ,bought by me in the USA ..the engine cost for a USA spec elantra should not be more than 200k ..
Bottom line I will continue buying the car ..it is expensive now to buy ..the price range can be from 1.6 to 2m 2007 to 2009. And also please use good engine oil Mobil USA spec 5w20 or 5w30.. Use coolant for the car ..take care of the car to avoid been at the mercy of any mechanic either on nairaland or outside nairaland.. You don't want to be coming on nairaland to start seeking advice for car repair from anybody.. Better make you respect yourself on that order.. Even if you need help fixing your car ,it shouldn't break the bank if you have done your own part taking care of the car.. Bottom line use good engine oil and coolant to reduce been at the mercy of anybody o . And also if the car needs repairs take it to a mechanic that knows about elantra or kia cars , there is a specialist on nairaland called the people's chump, sorry meant to say the people's mechanic.. Have not used him before, but he has a strong loyal follower on the thread, cult like follower that can swear by his good work ethic.. Some of them no dey see road at times.. But according to them he is good, he seems good but me personally I have never used him ... bottom line take care of the car use good oil USA spec Mobil 1 , the people's mechanic sells them and I sell them too . Mines goes for 15500k per 5quarts ,cheapest price on the market.. Hope have been of help any information u need . Contact me at dru23@ hotmail.com Lol, funny man. I hope gazzuzz never dey appear for your dreams sha |

TheCar: Boss, I like your feedback.
Nobody has monopoly of knowledge and a tree doesn't make a forest.
A Uber driver with over 2 years experience has enjoyed the good days. Days when Car Owners get 50k weekly as rental not us that join when 35k is the highest you can get as weekly rental.
Beside you don't need a prestine tokunbo to start e-hailing boss.
Because he hasn't buy his own car doesn't make him a bad person or shouldn't be trusted? Don't get it twisted.
The person seeking Uber Driver is a JJC, you know one when you see it. I was once a JJC so I know.
But me, I wouldn't give any driver with over 2 years experience my 2014 car. Whether bought new, tokunbo or Naija Used.
So sir, I maintain my stand, any driver on Uber/Taxify with over 2 years experience would either have his own car by now or become a Fleet Manager.
Do you know how many partners he would have worked with during the period.
Do you know the people he has come in contact with between the period?
So sir, I stand to be corrected with facts that a driver with over two years experience is still looking for car to drive on rental.
Let such driver, come forward. I have one currently. People's circumstances are different. I would give this man the best car in my fleet if there was no driver for it already. I know his story. Not everything in life is in black and white sir. |

GAZZUZZ: Information reaching me shows that taxify lite drivers are currently receiving more request than taxify drivers.
Seems taxify slashed prices without any drama
Most drivers on lite are now switching to uber. Why would they switch to uber when they are getting more trips now? Taxify lite fare is far better than uber fare. Uber fares not only rob you of your motivation, it also knocks your confidence a lil. Except their is at least 1.2 boost or surge. |

I quickly got down and ask; do u drive uber or taxify? She: i do both, i just need a request on taxify to add to d bonus counts. (wonderment!) At last i came face to face with a lady driver)
We chat, laughed.
Ok lemme request you... Hold on. A request from someone else entered her phone. She want a trip to the island. Already set destination on uber(impressive) She called to ask destination ; Cement. Agege. She declined. Ok lemme request you Immediately another entered her phone. This time she ask me : why only her was getting the request. Are u not online Me: i am. maybe u are luckier.
She ask; is ur car lite or regular. Me: regular na She: i am getting the lite requests. Mine is 2003.(clean corolla CE).
Lesson: people are getting informed about the lite and using it. So nice.
(yes she gave me her number na. Lives between agungi and chevron) She; see you whenever.... Me: ok bye I knew it was just a matter of time. The more people update their apps, the more they are going to use the lite option. I hope this means I get more responsible and big boy/girls riders on the Taxify option. |

lymelyte: true talk.. All these yeye riders think they can talk to anyone anyhow just because someone drives on uber/taxify. They don't know some do it for adventure.. If them see some of us offline without the Uber/taxify tag, fear nor go let them open mouth.. That's how I picked one nonsense girl,as soon as she entered my sweet ride, she was restless and asking me if she is safe..lol . Probably because she had never entered a lexus under taxify/Uber before..She started asking if I know where they sell cigarettes..i told her I don't know and that we I can drive to the palms so that she can buy it there. She begin they talk anyhow. I immediately drove to her destination and dropped her dirty ass** off.. It's the drivers on rental I always pity. I am calm and respectful by default but if any rider do anyhow, I change am for you immediately. Bleep you and your 2k trip. Luckily for me, I almost always meet nice riders too. OAKSFIVEFARMS: Luck is when you get a client that dashes you 5k extra after the trip. Luck is when you get a rider that wants to buy you food. To get a 45k per day offline is definitely not luck.
Riders are drawn from the same pool for everybody, everybody will get his share of bad/good riders. How you convert them beyond a one trip ride is definitely not luck, it is effort. Even if it doesn't seem so.
I tell you, you can have a 2018 Benz on Uber and still not be lucky with a worthwhile rider that wants to meet with you outside Uber (and I am not talking slay queens or whatever they are called now) if you are a totally nasty or uncultured person or have absolutely monstrous bad breath.
Everything has to be just right, so that when your luck wants to shine, it doesn't get overpowered by bad english, or a terrible lack of manners.
Dovehorizon had to work on himself to get a rider who is willing to overlook the "I met him driving Uber" stigma and actually book a date with him. If poster did not look or speak like someone you can hang out with, imagine if he looks distinctly untrustworthy, it doesn't matter how much luck he had, he wouldn't snag a (better) date off the platform.
I am dating a rider who is much older than i am (and is a golden catch, I'm a first class catch myself, or at least so I like to think) for almost 2 years now, and still counting so I know first-hand.
Uber provides an avenue that not many other places provide, you drive people around in very close, comfortable quarters. Not even a candle lit restaurant can offer the kind of cozy atmosphere Uber gives. Plus the lady has a valid excuse to see you again via offline, so she doesn't have to seem 'thirsty' when she calls you to come pick her. If you turn out to be a bum, well, it was just a trip. But if you turn out to be dovehorizon, maybe it was really a first date.
However as Uber is not a dating site, you will do well to be ferrying your passengers instead of looking for dates, if you meet a kindred spirit and you connect, fine. Otherwise you might misstep, "toast" the wrong woman and get kicked off the platform. And your wife is going to ask you "why".
And I'm not shading you my brother, all the 'you' is just a general way of speaking.

TheCar: If you insist it was luck, then have got No other choice than to agree with you.
But wait a moment, there is a saying that says we make our luck right?
According to his story, I completely believed he make his luck on that day by connecting with those riders even the rude girl.
Also, he only made one leg of the journey for each of those riders, someone on the platform also made the other leg of the journey with those riders without connecting with them. Do you see the golden opportunity they let slip by not connecting with those riders.
If we call him lucky, are the other drivers who did the returning part of the journey for those riders without connecting with them unlucky?
They have the same opportunities with those riders but with different attitude and mindsets so there results or outcome are different.
He used the opportunity well, so we call him Lucky whereas the other drivers do not use the opportunity well, so we call them unlucky abi Boss man, not everything in life is black and white. I believe we are on the same page whether you believe he was lucky or not. But what I know is there are lots or people driving their rare and expensive cars with the right attitude on the platform but gets matched with mostly Oloriburuku people. As long as he doesn't get to chose the calibre of people that request him, a bit of luck is required to get the kind of riders be got. I've seen billinioares say they got lucky. But again, I see some of my points in what you said so we are on the same page. Taink you |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Stealth100: 7:14pm On Jun 16, 2018 |
TheCar: Lucky definition: 1. having good things happen to you by chance: 2. bringing good luck
You say that someone is lucky when they have something that is very desirable or when they are in a very desirable situation. I am luckier than most. I have a job. I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.
One thing I know about life is, in whatever you decide to do always show up with the right attitude.
Being good with people provoke blessing and you don't know what you loss when you show up with the wrong attitude in life.
From his experience as shared by him, he meet different people within the short while, The Good, The Bad and The Worse.
If he show up with the with the wrong attitude, he would have miss the chance to watch the match with his first rider. If he show up with the wrong attitude, the guy that refers the old man, wouldn't have refer him. If he show up with the wrong attitude with the old man, he wouldn't have get USD 500 and the opportunity to meet the babe that now agree to pay him 45k daily for 5 days.
Now the big question is, have this riders use Uber before and ride with other drivers on the platform? The answer is Yes.
Did these drivers create a memorable ride experience for them as rider? Maybe Yes or No
One thing is, if you get the opportunity to be a driver on Uber, make use of the opportunity to connect positively with your riders. Some of your riders have people booking appointments, getting reschedule for appointment booked, yet you as Uber driver, the same person is the one booking appointment with you to get him/her from one place to the other.
Also by all standard, Dovehorizon isn't a small boy because small boyz can't afford the school fees paid at LBS.
LBS short courses cost between hundred of thousands to millions of Naira, so by all standard, I considered him a Big Boy, yet he his humble enough to try something different which afford him the opportunity to connect and meet new people and also getting paid for doing it.
He (Dovehorizon) is a genius, not lucky.

Note - As a driver on Uber, learn and practice the lesson he his teaching or as taught already here on the platform. His first rider would have probably booked another Uber driver to get her home yet the other driver on returning leg doesn't connect. The guy that connect him with the other man would also have used Uber from his house before he booked Dovehorizon to drive him home. He met one rude girl that didn't even return his greetings. Do you agree you can continue to get randomly matched with rude people on uber/taxify? Now imagine if that was what happened that day? We wouldn't hear about this beautiful story by the poster. Besides, the calibre of people he got matched with are not regular riders on taxify cos obviously they would have one or two cars in their compound. Now imagine these people didn't use uber on the days Mr Horizon worked on uber, or if they did and got matched with another driver? My point is meeting these extraordinary clients is mostly by luck. There is no denying Mr Horizon did his best to prepare himself and made himself and his ride attractive to these people calibre of people. But meeting or getting matched with them at all is completely out of his hands. He doesn't chose who he gets matched with. Which makes this beautiful story down to luck. Abi na every day you dey hear this kind gist? Luck is not a bad thing or something to not be proud of. I want more luck in my life abeg. |

dru23: I see .. So you don't think he is killing the owners car? You just prove my point.. No matter how low the rental you give them, just for the sake for them not to murder the car to the ground. Drivers will always over work the car to make more than the owner.. My point is that owners should get real value for their rental.. A partner that gives out his 07 corolla tokunbo for 30k weekly is at a lost. Poor bad decision making in my point. But it is not really non of my business.. But since we are on an open forum, am entitled to my opinion.. This is why most drivers misbehave, coz of the owner like the guy with 07 corolla.. That is why am always cautious at times when owners come on the forum to complain about drivers. I understand your perspective bro, but an ambitious driver will always make more than his partner no matter how much he remits weekly. |

You don't go around looking/hoping for more from a rider. Whatever extra they offer after the trip fare should be appreciated. An opportunity to wind down with champagne after getting paid almost five times the trip fare is a big deal too. |

Coolbenzino: Drivers stop carrying more than 4 riders in your car and don't always allow them eat in your car its against uber policy. This will help save repair cost for car owners.
Nothing will make me carry more than 4 riders if you insist I politely tell you that I can't go against uber policy. Option is for you to cancel or request additional ride. About food, I can't be perceiving the food in the car. If you stop to buy food in an eatery and didn't bother to buy even bottle water for me. Be sure to take it home because you won't eat in my car.
