Is there absolute job security in the banking sector. Can you predict with certainty if you'll still have that job in 4-5yrs? grin
My thoughts exactly.

Scared? Lol

The truth is no one knows which turn this business might take in 5yrs time. There is no statistics or data to make a forecast with. We are all at the mercy of the e-hailing coys. They don't release any sort of data to guide partners.
I'm not being negative but I like to think medium to long term when it comes to business/investment.

Is as much I respect your job,if you are a graduate and opportune to get a career job,not necessarily banking job, wont you quit your UBER driving?
I have been asking myself this same question, and tbh it's not been an easy question to answer. This work is so lucrative if you own your car. I can be totally lazy and still make 200k/month. The only down side is the uncertainty. No one can really predict what this job/business is going to look like in 4-5yrs, we are all only being optimistic.

Good evening everyone. Please I need your valued input on this. I drive an Honda Accord 2005 EOD 3.0 engine as taxify and I have come to discover that it consumes fuel alot and practically everything I make always go into fueling of this vehicle. I complained to the owner who had his mechanic check the vehicle and the mechanic discovered that there were no catalysts in the vehicle, consequently catalysts were bought and fixed. Unfortunately after effecting these repairs the problem still persists as it still consumes fuel alot. Anytime I buy fuel I do a trip the fuel goes into reserve. Today, I spent the sum of 7,100 all together to fuel the car and making 15,000 in return with taxify commission included in it. Please what are your takes on this. Please advise on way forward.
Ha!! Pls drop that car today today. Be patient, you will get the ideal car.

Pls I am also interested in this for 2004 Corolla. I hate the noise I hear on rough road. Or could it be anything else not suspension!!!
Not everything noise is from the suspension, you have to have it checked first.

That is good o.. I have one good driver too. Very good he has been driving my very first uber car for about two months now. And he has done a good job maintaining the car.. my team is about to surprise him with tok limited elantra fully loaded.. It pays to be good at times... this was our inspection few days ago
And this car is 10months on the platform, going to be a year in June 24th. I got the tok at 200k miles ,elantras are very strong cars engine wise. By May ending I will start using castrol full synethic oil imported from USA. Hope to get some more miles out of the car..
Mehn each time you talk about dz your elantras, I'm always tempted to buy one, it's actually finer and cheaper than Corolla. But make I no lie, I dey fear for the unknown. The corolla toks I bought in Jan at 190k miles still hasn't cost me anything other than oil change.

had done 4 rides by 6pm.. The 4th one took me to vgc gate.. Remaining 2 rides for my 3k bonus.. Between 6 and 8.45pm no requests.. Only few requests were those drivers looking to complete theirs as well. Upon reading this post, zoomed speedily to surulere.. And got my two legit rides and even 2 more..

For me, mainland oversize pass island.. I get long trips(minimum 4500)at least twice daily from abulegba..
This has worked for me numerous times. Gone are those days when you drive to bay lounge or farm city or The Place and get an instant request. Can we compare Festac/Ago Palace before and now when it comes to wait time for request? We all talk about uber/taxify growing their riders base. Please where do we think that growth is going to occur if not in places that are mostly residential and densely populated, mostly on the mainland where uber/taxify is closer to a necessity than luxury for them.
But like I said, One man's food is another man's poison. God bless everybody's hustle.

One of my drivers has been blocked for over a week now because of this. It's bad enough that he orders himself through other people's app, he then start and end the trip on the same spot without moving an inch. I had warned him numerous times to at least move 1km before ending the trip. Now my guy Don drop car and he's out of job. Talk about being smart.

tell them o. Population of people on the mainland is 10 times that of the island.. I guess.. So I always feel mainland is far better to get requests especially long ones.
I discovered this bout two weeks ago. Island na dulling now, even on Sunday. Now once I drop someone on the island, I drive back to Surulere as long as there's no traffic. One lady was shocked when she ordered me to the island from Surulere and I declined. She said she thought island Was The holy grail for uber drivers.
Even Abule Egba Don sure pass island now.

But according to Stealth 100 rating does not matter now ... And even Oga Gazzuz is using 1998 station wagon on uber oops sorry I mean 2009 Toyota station wagon. Me self I want use 1997 yellow station wagon for uber.

On another note one of my driver just drop my car ... Am sorry dump my car. We thank God the car is still in perfect condition body wise and engine wise. Some driver sha jumping from one car to another. Well I guess that is how lazy people operate maybe he will be home praying to God to answer his prayers. People forget hard work, just pray and jump from one job to another hoping to land something big..... Nigerians are the most lazy people..... We can agree to disagree respectfully, but if you start to judge me by mine comments be ready to fight o ...

400k consistently monthly.... for over a year....... and he hasn't gotten his own car yet...... and had to borrow money to pay his partner...

What I think is that someone somewhere in his village is using his photograph as Hand fan, while looking into a calabash...
Hmmmm... Bro some people responsibilities leave almost very little left to save. You're still a young man with obviously less responsibilities so you may never understand the reason why we save differently.

There are people that 400k monthly for a year straight will not change their lives because of how deep into poverty they've been for decades.

S'ope ti e mehn.

I came in that time too, but I used to bribe them so I could sneak in my 2004 cars on the platform. I never saw any sense in using big cars on the platform.

If I had known den what I know now, e-hailing bizness will b sweet.

If I had known then to forgo luxury over effectiveness, low cost and increase acceptability, the grumbling will be less.

Uber arrived nigeria with option of putting ur vehicle on the road and u earn money.

If I had known, I would have just done my kia rio jejely those periods. Naira / dollar was low, so landing cost would b good.

But I took luxury into consideration and look where it found me, more grumbling about this and that.

There is the luxury side to transportation, high end Cars, high earning income and low maintenance /repairs. But I will sit down for the next few days waiting for the next new phase.

E-hailing isn't about luxury - simple put e-hailing /ride-sharing is about providing the commodity to as many as possible at the cheapest fare rate one can achieve.

When any market gets flooded with different competition, the one factor to dance around with is PRICE.

It is left to you to decide what tool is best for that PRICE available.

Will you bring a 2014 Toyota camry now to the table to hussle within available PRICE?

If you had known back then and had more knowledge, you would have spent PRICE for a 2014 Toyota camry on 3-4 PRICE for a 2007 kia rio (luxury vs low cost) while trying to achieve same goal INCOME/EARNINGS.
I knew this from the get go, even when people were putting big cars on the platform, I had always been pragmatic.

My only mistake was starting the business with Nigerian used cars. I even bought two at once. Had to dispose them after six months and start afresh again. But the experience has been helpful.

Out of the 300 how many are good cars? How many are full timers ? Keep in mind rating helps to reduce a lot of cars on the road too. Without rating I think the market might be saturated. So factor in all these points . And for sure it is only the platform that can certainly say if the market is crowded or not. Because they have all data at their fingers tips. We can guess, but I prefer facts
This rating we always hammer here is over rated. Oga gazzuzz remember that Toyota Echo I sent someone to bring to your workshop? Its been on the platform for six months now and the driver has never been blocked cos of rating. He is currently at 4.7, better than some with corolla and Camry.

So dru boss, ratings no dey pursue driver as much as you think.

Lekki phase 1! 3 hours?!
Anytime you are in Lekki Phase 1 and a trip request doesn't come in 15 minutes, start driving cruising towards Ajah through Freedom Way. Say you don't get a trip before reaching Chevron drive traffic lights, turn into Chevron drive and cruise towards Ebeano there; cruise out again. Total journey time from Phase 1 to Chevron drive is like 20 minutes, I swear, a trip must drop in that time.
Buy Origin for me later

I do this and sometimes request still will not drop. I go come begin regret why I no drive towards home(mainland).
