Jobs/Vacancies / Re: INEC Recruitment 2020. How To Apply by StephenEA(m): 12:26am On May 11, 2020
I had started teaching before the lockdown, I need help with this question on set:

110 members of a sports club play at least one of the games, football, basketball and volleyball. If 20 play football and basketball only, 15 play football and volleyball ball only, 26 play basketball and volleyball ball only, x play all the three games, 2x each play only one game, how many play basketball altogether?

The answer, according to New General Mathematics, is 52. I've racked my head on how it's so.

Thanks.

Please holla. Cheers.

Bro, I'm not trying to dampen your Spirit, and I don't really care how you take this. I just finished a training program in a company, we were told that it was almost impossible to get in without some form of recommendation. I had to start asking my fellow trainees, and they all confirmed that someone recommended them.

That was the day I GAVE UP ON NNPC.

If the APL falls on me, then I'll term it a 'miracle', if it doesn't, right now, I DON'T REALLY CARE ANYMORE. I'm no more in the business of counting down, as I see people do here. I had forgotten my password, I just had to do some thinking, to remember. I had been viewing without logging in, I had to log in because you mentioned me.

I'm not spreading bad vibes, if you think so, then there's nothing I can do. I've just MOVED ON.

I might be wrong in my line of thoughts, I might also be right. I DON'T REALLY CARE, I've MOVED ON.

Jchibike:
I agree with you on all the problems you've mentioned--as I'm sure most honest Nigerians would. Do you mind telling me how you plan to carry out that reorientation? It's not enough to highlight all the issues that disturb us as a nation. What is your plan? I would like to know.

Do you know why I think a revolution would work? If tomorrow you see a group of soldiers guarding a wooden table in the middle of the road, what would you think? It doesn't matter if there's a similar table just a stone's throw away on which a woman is selling pepper. So long as that one table is being guarded by soldiers, you'd be forced to deduce that there must be some great value to that one table.

Value systems are not always symmetrical. If Nigerians decide today that this country, as seemingly hopeless and worthless as it is, is worth fighting for, no one in his right mind will stand in the way for too long. We, with our own hands, will reorient ourselves.

further more, reorientation is a very sssslllloooowwww process, was it today you heard "Charity begins at home". Meaning"Reorientation begins at home". Years I've been hearing this, but today, the family is no difference, even worse.

Reorientation requires understanding, long suffering. But this is very impossible as a result of the great Wall of Ethnicity and Religion. Now look at Nigeria today, if you begin reorientation today, when do you think you'll achieve your goals. How, do you go about it like Jchibike said?

Sowore was doing something diplomatic, he was silenced, that's not what I'm talking about. Such revolution will need a personality like sowore, (someone who is aimed at demolishing bad leadership), but not the activities of sowore.

REVOLUTION is like an overthrow of government. More like a coup. Where you have militias fighting the military to take power. Is that what you want? I think that's why Sowore was detained although might not be what he intended. Just chill because i still remember vividly an engineer at the tower said it took close to two years for theirs to be out. But
Last Last you saying you can't live in another man's land.. That a big fat lie. If unfortunately say nnpc no show us love.. I too sure say you go later be Land grabber.

But, your last statement, I really don't understand why you said that. I made an opinion, which I stated at the end of my comment. Have we met before? What benefit would TRAFFIC, do for me? Or do you have problems with accommodating opinions?

Can't agree more, Nigeria is irredeemable. Worst of it all, you say what? Politics? wrong idea. What Nigeria needs right now is REVOLUTION!

Whether you join politics, Nigeria is a region comprising of three nations. You can't make any decision without a common ground. I have long given up.

Well, I can't live in another man's land, I can't permanently move to another country, Nigeria has gotten a bad tag, go to any airport around the world, and mention you're a Nigerian, you will be given a special attention. It's only a matter of time that other nations will follow after South Africa. So it's Nigeria or no other. I have long readjusted my mind.

REVOLUTION! That's my answer, my opinion anyway...

Wow, words can't express how grateful I'm for this wonderful piece. Though, I didn't post to get pitied, was just trying to express myself.

Like you stated, I have something else I'm working on which I pray yield good fruits ( to be honest, selfishly I kinda want the APL delayed till around February as releasing it now may disrupt what I have going on). Infact, I have forgotten about Ecobank not until I got the mail today and had a relapse prompting the write up.

I really pray things don't continue like this in Nigeria.

Thanks once again and may God bless you.

Peace.

Very nice my brother, I sensed depression in the air, I'm glad that's not the case. We have deposits of greatness, Nigeria can not take that away from us.

"What doesn't kill makes you stronger"- I guess this has been a lie all along, cause right now I'm emotionally, mentally, and spiritually down.

Just like any other applicant, I graciously honoured Ecobank test invite and to God be the glory, I excelled and was sent a mail to be on the look out for interview invite (all these were between January and February, 2019).

To avoid stories that touch, I had to buy a new suit in preparation for the interview thinking all other been equal invite should drop around March. The excitement of finally getting a job after several months led to sleepless nights as I knew the interview is nothing but a formality.

March came and went, nothing came through from Ecobank. Then I said to myself, these people must have really rate me so high to have given me a whole month to prepare for interview. April came in and I shouted Happy New Month with excitement knowing fully well the new month will yield good fruits. Then I went about refreshing my mail every blessed day to no avail, what might have gone wrong? Is there no interview anymore? My curiosity led me to source for information on Nairaland and behold I was at peace when I found out that the exercise was still on. Besides I wasn't the only one affected by the delay.

Just like March, April packed it bag and luggages and went without any news. Come May, I went back to the success mail I got to at least try and reach out to Ecobank. Lo and Behold the mail was 'do-not-reply', Aye o! Without hesitation, I logged back to Nairaland to see if there has been any new developments and of course there was a new development. Apparently, an applicant who couldn't bear the wait any longer put a call through to their Customer Care abi shey HR? and was told the process was still on, that we will be contacted soon.

Like play, Like play almighty NNPC came out with their recruitment exercise and reluctantly I applied. I mean there's no harm in applying now, and to God be the glory, I got shortlisted for CBT. I wasn't bother neither was I alarmed by the huge turn out (I mean it isn't the first time of seeing crowd at a test centre, those who have visited workforce center at Gbagaba will probably know what I'm talking about). All I know is I will try my best even though its obvious the recruitment was nothing but a formality (NNPC probably have the details of those they want to employ already).

As if the trauma of knowing the recruitment might not see the light of the day wasn't enough, I got an invite for interview. Eh ehn, emi ni kan tan, a won gbe I said to myself with a smile. You can't really fault me, who wouldn't want to work at NNPC. I polished my shoe, retouched my suits and hyposified my white shirt, mo gbe body me, o di Abuja. Getting to Abuja, I was dumbfounded, being my first time. While passing through the airport road up till the city gate, all that was on mind was fast n furious, that express have got to be the best road in Nigeria.

Oh, I have forgotten about Ecobank. Who needs a bank job when there's oil money? NNPC interview wasn't that good, like I was overwhelmed by the aesthetics of Abuja and The Towers (see ehn there's money in Nigeria oh) I sha ti Ati Lo Ati de. I knew anything could happen but still I was pleased with the stage I got to and to think there's Ecobank to fall back on if things go south with NNPC was pleasing.

Just like Ecobank, NNPC decided to be foolish. August came with nothing, September also followed suits like epo EWA. Then October, the stupid lawyer came forth with his court case. A mo je gbese, I jejely carried my body back to the Ecobank thread to see what's happening, at that stage I will gladly accept Ecobank pending NNe(at all at all nah im bad pass). But the thing shocked me, it was still the same case, Ecobank will get back to you soon. Ah! Tani mo se e? Will this year just go like that too ni?

Am I cursed? Cause if someone had told me I would still be jobless 3 years after graduation I will have rained curses and brimstone on such fellow. While thinking about 1000 ways to die, a new revelation came forth. Our humbled GMD said 'SOON'..... seeing that I had strength again, I mean their father, my village people can't get me. OGA at the top have said soon. So, I started preparing, researching various SBUs. Hmmm NAPIMS looks alluring but again I don't want Lagos jare. So I concluded Delta or Port-harcourt it is and again come to think of it, why not Towers gan sef?

As if the torture wasn't enough, GMD's soon started to look like a joke. But why now, 'SOON' should be around a week or two now. And again I dived to check what's up with Ecobank as it was my fall back option and on getting there, the thread was deserted, no new information. Ah! Mo gbe, my village people have finally caught up with me. Started the new year with thoughts on what next to do, I mean I can't continue this way and again I'm done with the back and forth of different sauce with burnt dodo on Nairaland. But again, I find it difficult to leave as I keep coming back to check for updates. To me Ecobank is dead, my last resort now is NNPC.

As if the cruel journey of 2019 wasn't so bad, I got a mail from Ecobank this morning, restating that they haven't forgotten me oh, that I will be called before the end of the year. Abi e ma ri awon oloshi yii oh. So they expect me to still stay up and be waiting for them. Well, it's not their fault, nah Nigeria cause am and besides who starts a recruitment exercise when there's no vacancy?

To this end I beg to ask, what does the future holds for Nigerian youths? Cause at this rate, the repercussions of what's to come frightens me.

pool of applicants...chai!
bro, whatever happens, you have no justification for throwing in the towel. You are frightened because you still have faith in nnpc.

Now, is there a possibility that you will neither be called by any of those companies you applied for? The answer is YES! Come on, did you see the message? 'Pool of applicants'.

Faith in certificate, good result, work experience, wonderful CV, have all made you so dependent that, if the job does not come, you are frightened what might happen.

People tell me that I should upgrade my skills to make me employable, I should work towards getting a master degree, I should get certifications, bla bla bla... all to make me more employable. Chai!

I took the advice I gave myself, Go and learn a skill that will make me more, an employer of labour. Yeah, I'm a pianist, but, what I need to execute with money, piano will not provide it for me.

I went into research for months, looking for that skill, which best fits my personality, and I got it. I researched on the fixed and working capital, I had nobody to go to. I had to make my Piano an ATM, I went into piano education, I also applied to teach in a secondary school for 20k. I had no problem with the job, I had a goal.

But, fortunately, while doing this, I was called for training, the third stage in the recruitment process, in a company I had gone for an interview. I was no longer waiting for a call, the call came to me on a path to being my own boss.

Note, 4.09 CGPA, thought with this, one time I would get a job, it was then I discovered that even first class graduates are on this boat.

You will have no excuse when you hear the story of some others, who though were in worse situations than you are, yet were able to conquer life.

People might pity your situation, I read someone's comment, "one day one will click". Amen! The pool of applicants are making this same prayer. May God help us all. My brother just got admitted into unizik, he was so happy, but I asked myself how the job market will look like in 2025, when he completes his NYSC. God help us all

Being a member of this thread from inception made my mind wonder around the pages. As the official Historian of the almost now defunct AOLMAW, and for the sole purpose of comic relief, i present to you, the various categories of sources/sauces we've had, have and will have in this prestigious thread.

NB*: i will not be mentioning examples of some sensitive types as i wouldn't want to be lynched by some Grupo's grin in the towers.

1.SWEET SAUCES: they know the exact news that everyone connected to the recruitment wants to hear(closure) and thus, they get information from God knows were and add a title source(e.g COO, IT guy, GMD's Son, tower cleaner, tower dustbin man etc) to garnish the taste in the hearts of respective audience. E.g see NB* above

2. UNRIPE SAUCE:They know or claim to know so many things about the underground processes involved in selection of candidates such as highest scorers, selection criteria, why the will disqualify people with kwashiokor during medicals etc, but they can not tell you anything tangible about when APL will show or why it is delayed e.g cliffwoods, flowwolf09,Urbanist, tonyhopkins, C12112 etc

3. HERBAL SAUCE:They give info concerning date of APL release with such aggression and assurance that triggers the community of local men and women, only for you to find out that its from their dream or vision or intuition e.g Gbyms, lordlight etc

4. BURNT SAUCES they give release date of APL as quoted by their 'sure sauce' who is in charge of the 'list' they are never radical about it though, are always matured in their dispensation. One key attribute about them however is that they always say 'this is their last post' but always return with another date when the original one fails.. They are the most liked sourceres by the AOLMAW and are the one's keeping this thread going grin e.g scobyy2007, Easymoneysniper, napoleon etc

5. BITTERSWEET SAUCES :You always know their info is a PURE LIE but because its what everyone wants to hear, everbody aside the grupo's keep pampering them...its the stage you pass through before you fall into the 'burnt sauce' category e.g check NB* above

6. SALTY SAUCE :They always claim to or act as if they have one seriously sure source from untop the gmd's office, They hardly ever drop any info here as regarding the APL release date but are always very quick to throw subtle jibes or sheepishly discredit other peoples info e.g local pumpingson woman grin, larride, flowolf09, etc

7. SOURED SAUCE :You hardly ever know if they have any source at all, they have had several frustrations and disappointment with the Nigeria system of recruitment and so they always doubt if anything good can come in the form of recruitment...these ones, even when they bring goodnews about APL, dey add badnews inside to make sure we are not overly excited. e.g Orijinofkalu, etc

8. TASTELESS SAUCE :All their sauce always come with a condition, barring any last minuite change grin, once you see them, run for your life, na dem grin

9. RAW SAUCE :this ones have somebody somewhere who knows a gateman in an NNPC filling station somewere in katampe who is giving dem info, they dont care about the outcome of the recruitment weda they get APL or not, they are most interested and excited in giving us info, so they give it to us the way it comes, dey dont even listen to d info themselves, they just foward it as their sauce sent it and they always attach evidence.. This group can never be triggered as they get maximum satisfaction in getting the previledge to give us sauce info.. e.g, 1000airplanes grin

10. CREAMY SAUCE :Anything that doesn't concern olajengbesi is not their business, they like to talk about court case so much, they always provoke Teaser4 to rain down the curses grin

10. DEADLY SAUCE :This one's dont like goodnews at all, whenever they call their source, they are like "uncle, have they finally cancelled the recruitment? When will they announce the cancellation? e.g check NB* above grin

11. ACIDIC SAUCE :oh lawd cry in short, ademmy, muham3dd etc

12. SUCCULENT SAUCE :They always behave like a robot, you can predict their next post even as you are reading this now, they are the spirikoko pipu with mfm written allover their forehead, take a minuite to imagin they are your office mate in the towers grin E.g Naijatruthooha cheesy

13. SPICY SAUCE :They dont talk much, you don't need evidences to know that either they work in the towers or have strong connect in the towers, who give them the most accurate info known to anyone in the towers aside the gmd and human resource e.g panalyst, cavalier

14. DIRTY SAUCE :This ones actually have some info from their source but are always asking us to help them confirm if the info is true, or they use a comical way to relay their info to us so as to avoid being tackled. e.g ladyjane

15. SAUSAGE SAUCE :These ones know exactly whats going on with the recruitment, but ain't dropping any info. They come here often to confirm their info and for comic relief. They are just waiting for the appointed time, some of them secretly wish it to delay small for their own selfish reasons.

Hahaha...

this table you're shaking, hope you're ready to catch the fruits as they start falling... the example you gave for 14, hmmm...

I've been there before ooo

smiles...nice one I must confess

Permit me, just felt like sharing these thoughts...

I had thought that making money within the confines of one's home was a great stuff. You know, not having to go out, yet the alerts keep coming, it was nice at first.

It made me develop a cold feet towards applying for jobs, I told myself that I wanted to be my own boss.

But it got boring ooo! I had to go teach for 20k, just to leave the house every morning, as others did, and return in the evening. I felt happy, you know, people asking me how work was that day, and my reply, "hmmm, work was stressful today".

2019 ended on a good note, and tomorrow will be the result of it. My first exposure was my undergraduate study, I grew up as an introvert, I interacted with people for the 'first time' in school, it was awkward at first, people had problems with my attitude. They always told me I behaved 'ancient'. You can imagine a Lagos born-and-bred, yet don't know almost anywhere in the smallest state in Nigeria.

But I was able to learn, being with people was the best thing that happened to me in school, having friends I could interact with, it was like I was not existing before.

I became the class representative, and woah! all eyes were on me. Leading my fellow classmates, it was challenging, they hated me at first, I was known for 2 things, DISCIPLINE and excellence. But I learnt to accommodate, and I began to have friends.

After NYSC, I returned back to my shell, where my only companion was my piano.

I am not just excited about the new job, I'm more excited about meeting the people there.

Well, I've learnt what effect this can have on someone, I I dare not take that path in bringing up my own.

My experience.

An intern is a custodian of a job for a period of time, for the experience, this custodian can either be a student, or a graduate

While a trainee, according to the nairaland learner's dictionary, is a custodian of APL. grin

Example
1) Stephen is a graduate trainee, he became an APL custodian, January 2020
2) That girl on that LinkedIn page is a graduate intern,
