BenFlash: Try saying "No" when your dad and mum (God forbid) are critically ill and on the verge of dying, try saying "No" to a sibling of yours whom you know is genuinely trying to make himself somebody through his studies. Try saying "No" when they are about to evict your family and throw your parents' properties out.
As unfair as it sounds, it is the situation the average African first born child finds him/herself. Las las, we cannot kill ourselves but we must act with diplomacy as we cannot run away from it, using the word "No" will only do more harm than good. Unless you have a heart of stone. diplomacy, ok! If the first borns take up diplomacy, pressure will be far away. Pressure brings about anxiety, and can plunge one into something regrettable. My advice, even if the pressure is coming, you can decide to be pressured or not, left to you. Diplomacy kills pressure, so I do agree with you on that. |

monlawal: I'm the first child. If you are a first child, you know what that means You should have decoded it, I'm the first among 5, so I definitely know what that means. If you carry unnecessary pressure put for yourself, then I'll only be sorry. |

monlawal: I agree with you. Before I gained admission in 2009, I was earning about 80k monthly as a secretary in a Livestock business. I was paid weekly (ie I was paid atleast 20k weekly). Since after graduation, life hard. I have lost count of interviews. God, I even bought my first land at 17. Now nko, nothing to my name. If I had overlooked that admission, by now I would have been really established. But no wahala, it happened, now I'm fighting hard trying to be the best I can be. Demands from family, friends, relatives all weighing me down. I'm sorry, but when I hear '... demands from family', I seem not to understand, or are you not the one bringing the pressure on yourself? Yes they struggled to see you through school, and then DEMANDS! I know parents are here, and singles like myself are also here, hear this truth. Your financial investment as a parent ends in the establishment of your child and not in the university graduation. If your plan stops at sending your child to the best school, then I'm sorry. If your parental logo is "invest in your child today to reap from him or her tomorrow", I'm sorry. Yea I know, Africa, culture. But a scenario where your child is still trying to find his base, and you've started placing demands, is really sad. "Stephen, we've sent you to school, you will see your brother through school, there's no money". Just listen to this, a statement made to someone who completed service, April this year. And you know, parents of this present economy will not learn, produce 5,6,7 children, and then burden the first with the welfare of others. It is in Africa you see a man take care of his home, his father's family, wife's family, and maybe Nigeria as a whole. And then unnecessary pressure everywhere on the man. Demands ko, demands ni... Forgive my use of words. |

highzickjosh: When I saw this yesterday, I made up my mind and decided to take my mind off APL, to stop refreshing my mail and log out from nairaland. At least for the weekend cause I definitely know I will back on Monday.
I mean what's the point of gaining APL if I become hypertensive at this tender age of mine. So I slept like a baby, I knew everything was going on fine when I didn't reach for my phone for updates when I woke up. Had my bath and set out for the day.
Lo and behold, to God be the glory. The first set of things I set my eyes on has landed me back on Nairaland. I saw not one but two NNPC feul tankers and immediately I saw them the veil that was covering everything NNPC on my mind fell off. All I think about now is APL, I'm back to factory setting. Hahaha, Very funny I must confess... You'll use the upfront to cure yourself of hypertension... Very funny |

Jarus: Summary of what I gathered:
1. GMD promised to complete the recruitment
2. Offer likely to come before end of first quarter 2020 (could be as fast as end of this year - he/she mentioned this but I wish I didnt add it, dont want people to start mentioning my name by 31 Dec if nothing happens)
3. The guy that went to court is an attention seeker that has been ignored. This recruitment will be completed.
DISCLAIMER: While the source is close to top powers in the system, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the info but what I’m most sure of is, the recruitment will not be canceled. GMD expressly mentioned that.
All the best, guys. Hahaha... Very necessary, 'DISCLAIMER', a lot has happened lately. Good morning sir! |

Oliviajones: Well, just because it has been happening doesn't mean it's the norm. Everybody should sit up. It takes one company to act right and everyone will follow.
A company should be ashamed they made candidates wait 3 years and it shouldn't be a reference point or standard at all. Bless you Yeah, I agree with you, 3 years, they should be ashamed indeed. But hey, we still dey the naija! People tell me I'm pessimistic, others say I'm realistic; but this naija no fit better. 3 nations joined together, in disunity, is the cause of this matter. Even when you get good mind to make the picture better Like Yaradua, You go turn to non-living matter Like Jona, Away with him, he is weaker. Na God fit change Nigeria But God no fit enforce Him power Na we, in unity go submit to the mighty Ruler. |

Gbyms: Hmmm...it will make no sense if APL doesn’t come out latest second week of the month. You know yeah, calling Nnpc out is a gamble. If you are a hopeful, you should thread with caution and don’t create a spark because when the fire comes, you will run. This has pros and cons. The people that have nothing at stake especially those that didn’t pass the test would escalate this d elay and call it manipulation and clamour for its cancellation alongside that lawyer. What do you think will happen when you hand your enemy a bullet for his gun. Left to me, I’d say we should just be patient till end of January. APL should logically come out by then. No need for this noise you want to create. Logically, it should come out February, no March, umm I think April. Logic isn't working anymore, the 'Nigeria' we know is. Patience should not be likened to idleness, giving yourself deadline will do more harm than good. I have just gone back to that state I was before the interview invite, many of us continued with our lives as if we were not waiting for the interview call-up. |

Please can someone help me out?
Coming here to type more than a hundred words of lies, does it actually go unpunished? Is there a consequence? Or does it just end as a joke, and then people can get away with whatever they sell here?
Is there also a reward for giving out true information from reliable sources, even when people descredit your efforts? Will there be a difference if everyone just keeps their info to themselves, since the date of APL release can not be affected by these info? Knowing also that eventualities can alter given dates for APL release, (e.g shipper's info, and then Napoleon's), leading to criticism; won't it be better to keep your info while we just stick to official info from the corporation?
Just asking, so don't crucify me. I just feel it's enough, being good is enough, telling lies is enough, everything is mixed up already, 2 days ago, we were refreshing our mailboxes, today it's next week, tomorrow it will be next month. Are we not tired?
I know someone will say "Then get the hell out if you're tired" I must confess, I find it difficult to do that. It's like a hook, I just have to come here, this is my source, sauce, which one is it again? |
