Can't you just send that old old woman away? There are two ways you can do that:
1. Tell her she need to travel back (active approach)

What if she extends her omugwo and decides to stay like six months, what happens? The man should wait, right? If the mother-in-law doesn't understand that they're married and need to have sex once in while, then she might as well as park her bags and go home.
