Rubbish spread! You are just a typical of your type, wicked and heartless! You are talking of spread, search through NL for all posts on that day of 16th from the SE or SS and you will see the results at the polling boots match the state results. You buhari is only popular at those states where they are killing innocent ppl and babies cause he is their KinC (Killer in chief).

Have you ever ask yourself what would have happened to the VP-Sambo(a Muslim and a Northerner) if they have met him alone in his family home immediately after the Ridiculously Rigged Presidential Election? We(a Core Niger Deltan myself and majority of Northerners) had expected  a Diplomatically Rigged Presidential Election where everybody would go home happy and not a Ridiculously Rigged Presidential Election?
Here is the Diplomatic Rigging we had expected:
NW-GEJ(20%), Buhari(75%)
NE-GEJ(25%), Buhari(70%)
NC-GEJ(26.5%), Buhari(69%)
SS-GEJ(75%), Buhari(5%)
SE-GEJ(76%), Buhari(9%)
SW-GEJ(77%), Buhari(6%)
GEJ & Co. would have won and Buhari & Co. would have gone home happy.
Eya sorry Kenny, but the SE results are not rigged and the SS too. In my polling unit it was GEJ 256, Buhari 8. its a pitty you guys cant swallow the truth.

An indefinite curfew has been imposed on the North West state of Kano over rising cases of violence. The violence according to reports, is a fallout of the announced results of the presidential election held, Saturday, across the country.

State governor and Presidential candidate of the ANPP, Ibrahim Shekarau invoked the curfew on the state, Monday, in the state capital.

@KoboJunk get it right, Buhari did not tell them to start riot yesterday or today i assume, but when you tell your followers to lynch and use violence to register their protests. You should at least be reasonable enough to say he incited his followers to put it in a mild way.

How did you link this one to Buhari? Buhari is not from Kaduna. His party lost out in Kaduna during the NASS election. The papers claim there was a clash between CPC people and PDP people since that is Sambo's State, and CPC already won in that state.  So pray tell, how did you come about linking this one to Buhari himself? This is pretending this has nothing to do with ethnic bigotry of some sort.
Must i explain it to you?? sometimes your arguments and talk defy reason. So please madam Kobojunk why are they rioting?? Tell me why they are rioting then i can show you the link to buhari. Evil Brain:
In the spirit of ethnic bigotry, here's my analysis of what will happen in the next few years.

SS
Jonathan's campaign took money from the oil companies so we can guarantee that there will be no end to gas flaring anytime soon. There will also be no serious attempt to clean up the pollution there. Also, GEJ's nonexistent  anticorruption record will ensure that the next generation of James Iboris will have little to fear. The Niger Delta people don't even have MEND to fight for them anymore. They are, as always, screwed.

SE
Not much will change here. The PDP will zone all the NASS leadership posts away from there and in exchange they will get 1 or 2 of the juicer ministerial posts. Also, no Igbo man will smell the inside of Aso Rock for the next 30 or so years. GEJ has used their "turn" and will serve 8 years (regardless of what the guy says), then the north for 8 years, then the Yorubas, then the north again, then finally, maybe the Igbos. Corruption at the national level will continue to stagnate the local economy.

SW
Policically savvy, these guys will have their interests taken care of. Plus the ACN governors will make sure there is at least some development at local level. There will still be no light or jobs though.

The North
As always, the ruling class will be well taken care of. The ordinary people will continue to suffer.

In Summary
The biggest winners today will turn out to be the biggest losers as Nigeria's kleptocracy adjusts to the new system. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
Please with which scientific model or data did you draw that conclusion?? if none then i can assume this is:  Analysis and future projections of your house hold if you have one.

The reason why Nigeria is not growing is so obvious. Its not about the government, but the sentiment ridden perceived/artificial  intelligence of its populace. The comments here are just too shallow for any real or deep reasoning to be achieved.

Let me lay down some facts that is driving the way politics is going in this country
1, Would GEJ or any south south citizen be anywhere close to been the president of Nigeria if not for the cunny moves of OBJ in 2007?
2, Would the NIger Delta miltants have stopped their bombing of oil facilities if not for the fact that they were begining to have a sense of belonging to the country Nigeria.
( Nigeria was producing 1.4 miliion barrels per day in the days of active militancy as against the 2.3 million bpd that the budget was projected at. Which means if something drastic had not been done, then the government would have collapsed soon as the reserves were depleted as we have no other major source of income.)
3, Is zoning a logical reasoning when it was obvious that the region providing for the nation since 1976 would always be exploited and never be catered for under any arrangement that does not involve them.
4, Why did bombing of non oil facilities start after GEJ became president? And all the time that we were been held by Turai and her cabal, the country was super quiet and peaceful.
5, Why is the SSS worried over the sudden quiteness of the Militants in this election period.
6, Why is shell, with all the connections they have in Nigeria government according to wikileaks divesting their holdings in Nigeria?
7, Would the international community care a hoot about Nigeria if there was no oil?
8, Would bombings start again and oil production drop if GEJ does not win?

GEJ is handicapped based on the permutations that brought him into power. Has he done well in the circumstances? I believe so. Could he have done more? Most definately. But with allthe different forces at play in this country, I give him a pass mark so far.

Rome was not and cannot be built in a day.

I want to comment on the issue of  black out in Nigeria. I can say that since I was a child, the issue of blackout has always been there in Nigeria. In a few years, I would be celebrating my 40th xmas. The only thing you could say is that the black out frequency is more now than back in the days. That also is due to the mere fact that there are more people in Nigeria now compared to '83. There is also more consumption of power as result of more industrialization in the country. In Buhari's days, we were mostly importing (and even forced to sell below cost price). We hardly were a producing nation. Cocoa and cotton didn't need much power unlike common sealing of bottle water now. Even the roads were not used much back then compared  to now. The roads are getting bad more easily partly cos there is huge pressure on them compared to 80s. It is foolish to compare achievements and challenges between the times.
Please educate them. First he said Abacha didnt loot, now they (BB supporters) say there were no black outs during buhari's past regime. Maybe soon them go say Buhari never did coup. Buhari never wanted democracy how can he be going for elections now when he sacked a democratic government?? Some nigerians are incredible, no principles at all. PoliticsAtiku Risks Jail Term Over Zoning? by stiyke(op): 12:35pm On Dec 26, 2010
Proponents of the zoning arrangement in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have pushed the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar into troubled waters following fresh indications that the proposition contravenes the extant Electoral Act.

Sunday Sun learnt at the weekend that another round of legal battle is about to commence that might not only end Atiku’s quest for the presidency but could also see him and the advocates of zoning sent to jail if found guilty of contravening the law.

A concerned Nigerian citizen, Mr Paul Abbey, has fired a letter to the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police demanding the prosecution of Atiku and all those pushing for zoning, saying they have breached Section 102 of the Electoral Act.

Section 102 of the Act states: “Any candidate, person or association who engage in campaigning or broadcasting based on religious, tribal or sectional bias for the purpose of promoting or opposing a particular political party or the election of a particular candidate commits an offence under this Act and is liable on conviction to a maximum fine of N100,000 or imprisonment for twelve months or both.”

The Abuja-based businessman and public affairs commentator accused the former vice president and some northern leaders of embarking on a biased and tribal campaign aimed at stopping President Goodluck Jonathan from contesting the PDP primaries and the 2011 presidential election.

Citing a letter dated September 17, 2010 written by Atiku, Adamu Ciroma, Yahaya Kwande, Bello Kirfi, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, Lawal Kaita and Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim to the PDP National Chairman, Abbey said the writers opposed the candidacy of President Goodluck Jonathan on grounds of his tribe and promoted the candidacy of any aspirant from northern Nigeria solely on grounds of sectional bias.

“(These) persons have continued to prosecute political campaigns with tribal or sectional bias to imbue in Nigerians a sense that classes of Nigerians with different political rights do exist,” he stated, adding that by their alleged action, they are not seeking for the emergence of the “best possible administrator from any part of Nigeria” but have insisted that Nigeria be divided into North and South and the next presidential election be the exclusive preserve of the ‘northern candidates.’

In the letter to the AGF and the IGP entitled: “Demand to investigate criminal acts committed by Atiku Abubakar, Adamu Ciroma, Yahaya Kwande, Bello Kirfi, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, Lawal Kaita and Bashir Yusuf Ibrahim,” Abbey through his counsel, Offia Valentine, demanded that the aforementioned persons be investigated within seven days to ascertain their alleged culpability.

“The offices of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police have the duty to the public to investigate and prosecute crimes. It is my client’s view that these virulent political campaigns tinged with sectional and tribal bias contravene the Electoral Act, which prescribed appropriate penal sanctions. My client, therefore, demands that the offices of the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police investigate these acts within seven days of the receipt of this letter to ascertain the culpability of these persons.”
Sources in the two offices confirmed that the letter was received on Thursday and that appropriate action would be taken on it “if it becomes necessary.”

The legal practitioner warned that his client would file proceedings in court against the AGF and IGP if they fail to investigate Atiku and the northern leaders at the expiration of the ultimatum. “Mindful of the violence hinted at by Atiku Abubakar at a recent political campaign if his biased sectional campaign is unsuccessful, my client will file a suit against the offices of the AGF and IGP if the said public officers do not commence an investigation within seven days of the receipt of this letter and notice to that effect is hereby given.

“My client will also file a suit against these persons to compel them to commence campaigns on how to proffer solutions to national problems and stop their extant illegal campaigns,” the lawyer stated.
The Atiku presidential campaign organization, however, refused to comment on the matter when contacted.
Its Director-General, Senator Ben Obi, who spoke on the telephone, said he cannot comment because he has not seen a copy of the letter nor have information on the claims therein.

Presidential spokesman, Mr Ima Niboro, also gave a similar response when he was contacted on the telephone. He simply said: “Sorry, I cannot comment. Let the AGF and IGP be allowed to do their job if the petition is valid.” Last month, Atiku emerged as the consensus candidate of the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF) ahead of former Military President, Ibrahim Babangida, former National Security Adviser, Aliyu Gusau, and the Kwara State Governor, Dr Bukola Saraki.

Since then, the Adamu Ciroma-led NPLF and some aggrieved members of the PDP have continued to insist that President Jonathan was not eligible to vie for the presidential ticket of the PDP in the January 13, 2011 primaries on the ground that his aspiration runs contrary to the zoning principle in the party’s constitution.
Last Monday, an Abuja Federal High Court fixed January 4, 2011 as hearing date in the suit filed by three members of the PDP and supporters of Atiku - Kwande, Kaita and Dubem Onyia - asking the court to bar the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from accepting Jonathan as the party’s flag bearer in the 2011 presidential poll.

They also want the court to restrain the PDP National Chairman, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, from presenting Jonathan as the party’s candidate for the election. The fresh plot to stop Jonathan is sequel to a November 30 ruling of another Abuja High Court that the President can contest next year’s election. Although the court upheld the zoning arrangement enshrined in Article 7.2(c) of the PDP constitution, it however refused to declare that the North was entitled to produce the President in 2011.

Contrary to the persistent denials by General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retd) that he has nothing to do with the assassination of Newswatch magazine founding Editor-In-Chief, Dele Giwa, 24 years ago, his former aide, Major Debo Bashorun insists the former military president has a case to answer.

Bashorun, the military press secretary to Babangida, spilled the beans in his forthcoming memoir, an excerpt which was made available to P.M.NEWS this morning.

According to the retired major who was hounded out of the military because he refused to do the bidding of his master, “it is quite possible that I am the only person alive today that could substantiate the Babangida administration’s dubious actions, certainly worth investigation, in relation to the assassination of Dele Giwa. And in a determined attempt to stop me from divulging what I know, a strategy was put in place apparently to ensure that the secret goes with me to the grave.”

He adds: “Although Newswatch had as much resisted the temptation to treat the President (Babangida) as an ogre despite evidence linking his regime to the murder of Dele Giwa, it would still have not taken a genius to figure out that the government’s apathy was meant to exact revenge on the paper’s (Newswatch) relentless campaign to unmask the killer(s.)”

Bashorun writes that the failure of the Babangida regime to congratulate Ray Ekpu, one of the founding editors of Newswatch magazine, who had won the International Journalist of the Year Award in 1988, two years after Dele Giwa was assassinated through a parcel bomb, became a matter of public concern “which saw our position as a sign of intolerance for criticisms against some of our policies.”

He had to raise the issue at a presidential staff meeting. It was on the basis of this that Babangida accepted to send a congratulatory letter to Ray Ekpu and the Management of Newswatch. But he later developed a cold feet after the meeting with Colonel Halilu Akilu who was the director of Military Intelligence. Instead, Babangida decided that Ray Ekpu and his colleagues should be given money which they initially rejected but later collected under pressure.

Bashorun was then ordered to attend the award ceremony in America where he was to gather information from Nigerian guests at the event about how they felt about the murder of Dele Giwa. He was given some gadgets for the recording.

To quote Bashorun: “The nature of that package, at that point, indicated that there was no longer a doubt about my belated suspicions over the murder which had become a malignant tumour for our administration. I was awestruck by this indirect self-implication of the government’s involvement, at some level or the other, in the circumstances of the crime. True, accusing fingers had been pointed in its direction, voices raised in direct accusations, but the suppositions were still hypothetical. Akilu’s proposal only confirmed the complicity of Babangida and Akilu, for how could they have suddenly embarked on this new adventure after seemingly perfecting their denial stance in a brutal crime that was without precedent in Nigeria. The government’s implicit acknowledgement of a cover-up interest in the crime, as expressed through the Director of Military Intelligence, showed that he and the president knew more than they had publicly admitted.

“My memory quickly switched to the president’s hostile reaction after my visit with Alhaji Muhammadu Gambo, (then Inspector General of Police) in my quest to find out the progress of the so-called investigation into the assassination. Akilu proceeded with his brief. On my arrival in New York, I was to contact the leader of a group of public relations experts whose name and phone numbers were listed on a piece of paper he produced. He went further that after establishing the contact, I should invite the man over to my hotel for discussions on which approach to take concerning the purported propaganda package. I was also to furnish him with all relevant inside information of our administration that would be necessary to perfect the strategy. Stressing once again his demand for my full cooperation, the colonel insisted that it was the only way that the blood-stained reputation that Dele’s murder had given our regime could be cleansed.

“Akilu went even further. In addition to this primary assignment, I was also expected to carry out some eavesdropping activities on our compatriots who would grace the award ceremony. To facilitate the latter, the officer brought out a small equipment that resembled an audiometer with flat rubber tops and different wires dangling from an athlete’s bag which had been lying in a corner. My hear felt it was jumping out of my body but I tried not to show how scared I was. Akilu then followed with a demonstration of how to wear it on himself. My first reaction was to wonder why the president would want my participation in this diabolical scheme when his American contacts could have assembled the package without my involvement. I began to have this strong feeling that the whole scheme was nothing but a set-up with hidden dangers for me. My brain must have been turning like a cyclone in the head.

“First, the thought of trying to spy on my compatriots bothered me even as much the possibility of being caught in the act became a terrifying reality. Another scary aspect of the mission was the chances of being intercepted by U.S law enforcement agencies while carrying such sophisticated equipment on my person. My looks must have said it all but the ‘lecturer’ was quick to interject that his demonstration was only to familiarise me with the equipment and that my acquaintance-to-be in New York would provide me with a similar gadget during our meeting. Perhaps the biggest worry was how to handle the newly discovered secret that the government had an unhealthily suspicious interest in Dele’s gruesome murder without becoming a victim myself. I was still struggling to muster the courage for questions when Akilu delivered the blow that completely weakened me at the knees. He emphatically stated that the eavesdropping aspect of the mission was meant to wrap up the evidence allegedly gathered already that Dele’s colleagues – Yakubu Mohammed, Ray Ekpu and Dan Agbese actually orchestrated the killing to facilitate their take-over of the company…

“:But then, why would the president present the media executives with cash gifts if he already knew they were conspirators in the murder? Why was he trying to be nice to people who through their alleged complicity were the same people destroying name of his administration? It was no good arguing with someone who takes you for a fool. After finishing with his demonstration of the equipment, the intelligence chief then moved down to the adjoining room and brought out a packet of micro-mini cassette recorders which he claimed would act as a back-up for secretly recording of conversations of other Nigerians who may turn up at the venue of the ceremony. This equipment would have passed for an ordinarily famous American cigarette pack which adorned its cover and was identical to the one given to me by the president for recording speeches during the Dele Giwa Memorial Week about two years earlier.

“The tape recorder, the name of the man to meet in New York together with his phone numbers and Atiku’s private numbers gave me sufficient reasons to start bothering about my own safety. In addition, my air ticket issued by the Protocol Department was inexplicably routed through Abidjan and London. This kept me wondering why a direct flight ticket straight to New York which would have saved the government some money was not procured. The ticket – purchased from a foreign airline – also violated government standing regulations which forbade the patronage of such businesses where a Nigerian Airways flight was available.

“The circumstances surrounding the routing of the ticket further fuelled my suspicions that something was amiss and because of that, I decided to leave the tape recorders at home instead of carrying them with me on the trip. I reasoned that if the need became urgently pressing, it would not be difficult to purchase some from Department Stores scattered all over New York. Boarding the aircraft presented no hassle because of my familiarity with the terrain but once airborne, the reality of being an unwilling accomplice in a venture which did not evolve by happenstance but rather by design took control. It then dawned on me that the tape recorder could have been a bugging device or something used for other covert purposes and the consequences of being caught with it frightened the hell out of me. I decided to leave it at home before I boarded the plane, having resolved to proceed in a manner that would render this, in advance, as mission impossible.”

Bashorun had revealed in a newspaper interview last June that he was being hounded because of the book and the facts it contains on who killed Giwa.

According to him, “I was privy to some of the terrible things… My problem is 2011. Babangida wants to become president again. I am not saying I am the only person, but I am one of those who know that he is connected to the death of Dele Giwa. That is why they have been trying to kill me.

“I was sent to do a dirty job in America in respect of Dele Giwa’s death. I was sent to cover up what they did. I refused to comply. When I came back, they threw me into jail. Newspapers reported it that time. I protested. The press was on my side then. I was shouting on the roof top that ‘these people want to kill me.’ They decided to send me to a unit in Makurdi, which was a Siberia then. I refused to go. Incidentally, the General Staff Headquarters, which was my unit (and Babangida’s unit too), issued an order that whoever wanted to leave the army should volunteer. It coincided with what was happening to me. So, I volunteered and resigned. I quoted their order in the resignation letter I sent them. But out of those who resigned then, I was the only person whose resignation letter was rejected. I contacted some attorneys. Alao Aka-Bashorun was my lawyer.”

He added: “Babangida has assembled a think tank of south-westerners who have warned him of my tell-all book that is about to be launched. They warned him that if I am allowed to launch the book, the expose contained there will totally destroy his chances of even gaining a foothold any where in the South-West.”

Major Debo Bashorun’s book will soon be published in and outside of Nigeria.

PoliticsOkah Gave Orders For Abuja Bomb Blasts- S/africa Prosecutors by stiyke(op): 6:39pm On Oct 18, 2010
JOHANNESBURG – Henry Okah, the ex-militant leader arrested after the deadly independence day blasts in Abuja, gave the directive for the twin car bombs to be detonated, South African prosecutors said Monday.

Okah, ex-leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta which claimed responsibility for the attacks, was arrested at his home in Johannesburg on October 2, the day after the blasts killed 12 people in Abuja.

Prosecutors said Monday that investigations indicated the blasts were caused by sacks of dynamite detonated by cell phone under orders from Okah.

“Investigations have… revealed that you are one of the persons who gave the directive for the explosives to be detonated,” prosecutor Shaun Abrahams said while cross-examining Okah at his bail hearing.

“The available evidence clearly indicates you insofar as modus operandi is concerned and insofar as giving the instructions are concerned.”

Okah, who denies involvement in the attacks, accused the Nigerian government of fabricating evidence against him.

“The Nigerian government fabricates evidence. It’s so easy to create witnesses,” he said.

“There is absolutely not a shred of evidence.”

Okah, who has permanent residence in South Africa, has been in custody in Johannesburg since his arrest.

His bail hearing began last week and is set to continue Wednesday.

The hearing has returned repeatedly to evidence seized from Okah’s house when police arrested him, including a quotation for weapons from a Chinese arms dealer and diaries that prosecutors say tie Okah to the armed conflict in Nigeria’s oil-rich Delta region.

Portions of the diaries read aloud in court contained lists of weapons, including anti-tank mines, mortars, rocket-propelled grenades and guns.

Okah testified in court that studying guerrilla warfare is a passion of his and that the lists reflected an “intellectual interest”.

But after the prosecution concluded its cross-examination, magistrate judge Hein Louw called the weapons inventory “something that worries me”.

“It seems to be a purchase list from my point of view,” he said.

“If you were in my position would this not seem very incriminating to you?” he asked Okah.

Okah said the weapons were not of a type used in the Delta, and called the lists “suspicious, but not incriminating”.

Okah’s brother Charles was arrested Saturday in Lagos. A security source familiar with the case said bomb alerts sent by MEND had been traced to him.

MEND, which claims to be fighting for a fairer distribution of oil revenue in the impoverished Delta, last week warned of a second attack in Abuja.

It said Henry Okah was a victim of “witch-hunting” by the Nigerian government, and threatened to carry out a fresh attack that would prove he was not involved.

Okah, who was arrested in Angola three years ago and transferred to Nigerian custody, has been living in South Africa since being released as part of an amnesty offered to militants in the Delta.
