An Igbo Nigerian wedding expenses list, was posted online on Twitter. It was trailed with different comments from different people. While some saw it as an appropriate list, others saw it as unnecessarily expensive.
What are your opinions Nairalanders?

Coolliot: Lol, some of us do actually know about defense matters, but some people won't let people that know talk, some people would rather want to pass imagination as reality and force it down people's throat.
jpphilips: A disturbed Ethiopia wont pose significant threat for Nigeria, Tigray guys are not terrorists but anti government rebels unlike Libya that was a beehive of Alqaeda, Daesh & other Takfiri fighters. Mali's Anzawad insurgency mirrowed Libya's situation more.
If the Tigray guys succeed (very unlikely) they will form a government that will keep Ethiopia stable, already, US has warned they shouldn't invade Addis Ababa but remain within their disputed territory, Abiy Ahmed is already talking to Turkey & other coalition partners, if fruitful, will replay Russia's assistance to Assad as FSA inched closer to Damascus.
The refugee crisis will overwhelm Eritrea, Djibouti and perhaps Kenya, they surely not coming west, perhaps south or accross the Gulf of Aden. Nigeria needs not worry about that.
You're correct to an extent. I used to believe that, the Tigray wants control of the entire Ethiopian state. In that case, a Tigray government would breed instability. Even if Tigray only wants a region out of Ethiopia, it is a problem. Tigray would turn out to be a poor, landlocked country, which would be a breeding ground for rebels and terrorists. My point is, even if Tigray leaves Ethiopia, the both states would be greatly unstable.
. I understand that man alot. He's just a frustrated Nigerian. I believe, Babaowen wants the best for this country just like us. He is a government critic.
I know I'm not supposed to diss the Ethiopians, but I remember how some peeps here claimed the Ethiopian Airforce is by far better than our Airforce. We should really give our Armed forces alot of credits. We're really trying, but all we do is to compare it to the U.S,which is a Super Power. I know our "Government", is "sabotaging" our security forces through their policies atimes, but Nigeria would scale through.
RiceProducers: See how useless the SU25s and SU27s are?. I stopped arguing these issues because I found some people were just stuck on some old doctrines of warfare and the 'durability' of soviet equipment. Some guys would even have called the Ethiopian Airforce stronger than Nigeria's because of SU27s.
Hello Ethiopia, sensors are everything. Buy ISR gear. Look for supply lines to the rebels and bomb them. Use special forces creatively. Converting information from as many sensors as possible into a broad picture of the battle space is the only way to do modern warfare. You would be able to dodge the flanking moves and the feints. See where the enemy is hiding and determine what his objectives really are.
I'm suprised that an airforce with all those Sukhois would succumb so quickly to a rebel force. Seems, the Armed forces are still reading pre-cold war pamphlets. Verdammt, God save Ethiopia.
ArabicBerber: As the Libyan conflict continues, prelets hide in the Sinai, and zombies scavange around Lake Chad "dooming West Africa" Ethiopia's unofficial Civil War rages on.
Recent reports comming in are stating that the Tigray rebels are now explicitly aiming to take the National Capital Addis Ababa. Just last week the rebels announced that they had successfully took Kombolcha a town a mere 7 1/2 hour journey from Addis Ababa.
The Tigray People's Liberation Front, rebels were making a move for two strategic cities. They have beat the military to take those two cities, and now they're moving south. And they've teamed up with another group of rebels, the Oromo Liberation Army. And both are now within a day's drive to the capital, Addis Ababa witnesses say.
Sights are now on the Eritrean Army who targeted refugee camps made up primarily of citizens from Eritrea who fled there own country to avoid forced military service & detainment do to there political standings in what many consider the "North Korea of Africa". The arrival of the Eritrean troops marked the beginning of a months long ordeal for thousands of Eritrean refugees first hunted by the Eritrean military, then attacked by Tigrayan fighters who accused the refugees of conspiring with the enemy.
Apparently Turkey may get involved do to a military cooperation agreement signed back in August by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This is now fueling concerns that Turkish drones will be used in Ethiopia’s escalating civil war. Could Ethiopia be the next Libya or Afghanistan?
Eritrea going Full North Korea Ethiopia possibly headed towards collapse or transgression with the leading power in Africa known as Egypt. Somalia still ravaged by Al Shabaab Djibouti silently partnering with Egypt.
Things aren't looking to bright in the Horn of Africa. What does this spell for the neighboring regions like the Great Lakes? Only tine will tell I guess.

Ethiopian troops look poor trained and disciplined. I hope miraculously, Ethiopia would rise against this situation. A disintegrated Ethiopia, is against the interest of Nigeria and Africa at large.
nelszx: Read my comment again, was Nwakeme and Chuks mentioned? Moses Simon has hardly placed anything successfully in the national team. Passes - zero Corners - zero Pull outs - zero Dribbling - zero He's so suspect that every defender can predict his style. Run aimlessly and cut to the left . He has been completely neutralized by all the defenders we've played against (very predictable). He has taken more than 20 corners in this WCQ series and not even one has reached the head of any of our players. Has Simon played any corner that resulted into goals since he has started taking corners? Is it the passes you want to talk about? After his aimless runs oya pass now, none has met our players without interception. We have better wingers who are dynamic in their style of play but Rohr for whatever reason will always set up his team with a short (minus) one. See instead of Simon to start I will prefer Awaziem to play that his position. He may not have the strength to run aimlessly like Simon but his crosses and passes are pinpoint accurate. Even if he calls Lookman up, he'll still play Simon who even defensively is a zero.
The corner against guinea Bissau in 2019 AFCON which was scored by Kenneth omeruo
This sums up everything. This shows the reasons why our army seems to be slow in adapting. Gross indiscipline and inadequate training of personnel. This is extremely embarrassing. I can't believe we are acting like a vigilante group here.
OutOfContext: My friend brother is in his ND final year in Polytechnic in building technology and he wants to apply for NDA 2022 does he need Jamb to apply...
Depends on his age. If he's above the age limit of regular course, he'll need to apply for army SSC. Army SSC doesn't require JAMB. If he's with age range of Regular Course, he'll need to write JAMB.
kabe1: Like I told you earlier, no amount of determination would win you are war.
Wars are won through strategy, tactics and the right equipment.
Tanks have a very low rate of fire when compared to IFVs.
Tanks require Infantry protection.
Tank ammunitions are expensive when compared to IFVs
Tank maintenance is not flexible like an IFV.
Tanks are generally more expensive to deploy.
Tanks are slower, consume more diesel and cannot cover the distance an IFV would cover.
Tanks require auxiliary vehicles to deploy them to the front lines.
Tanks are not recon vehicles as they don't have the profile or speed or maneuverability to perform reconnaissance missions.
Tanks cost 4 times the IFV.
Like I said earlier, when I meant determination, I meant will to win the war. Will to purchase the right equipment and use the right equipment and people to win the war.
True. Exactly, what I'm implying.
Like I said, earlier, stop generalising. 8 rounds per minute is low to you?? That's the rate of fire of the Nigerian vt4 tank.
Lol. A 550 mm protected vehicle needs peeps to protect it. Mind you, tanks don't operate alone. Tanks operates in groups of 2s and 4s just like an aircraft and wingman. Tanks don't operate on the field alone, anywhere in the world, even in Nigeria. If you see a lone MBT in combat, then alot must have went wrong.
War is expensive. Ammunition is expensive. I'll agree partly to this.
Tanks ain't easily maintained neither IFVs but there are alot of tanks that have flexible maintenance, example is the merkava mk. 4.
They aren't.
VT4 tank goes at 70km/hr. Peeps say 67km/hr,bmp terminator goes at 60km/hr. You see?? Bradley IFV range is 400km. Vt4 range is 500km without external drums
Not in all cases, like for example a tank in maiduguri already, doesn't need a vehicle to deploy it to mallam fatori.
I talked about you generalizing, I'm strictly talking about MBTs here. You keep mentioning tanks. Do you know that the fv101, fv103 are light tanks and recon vehicles at that??
