LAGOS—Eight-year-old Chidinma Onoja, the only survivor in the fire that claimed seven other members of her family Tuesday night at Lawanson, Surulere, Lagos, died yesterday. Efforts by doctors at Gbagada General Hospital to save her life from the severe burns sustained on her face and other parts of her body proved abortive, as she reportedly died early yesterday. Sources at the hospital attributed her death to her rejection by two hospitals and lack of immediate treatment at Gbagada General Hospital over payment. It was reliably gathered that aside the severe burns on her face and arms, other affected parts of her body were reportedly also infected before she was eventfully admitted in the hospital. When Vanguard arrived the Gbagada General Hospital at noon, extended members of Onoja’s family, sympathisers as well as some members of staff of the hospital wore an expression of gloom on their faces. A woman who could not control her emotion was seen rolling on the floor, wailing. A nurse, who spoke on condition of anonymity at the hospital, said: “The doctors tried all they could to save her life. At the time she was brought here and examined, doctors said she had a fifty-fifty chance of survival. Unfortunately, she could to make it. May her soul rest in peace.” Dispute over where to deposit the body arose between some of the relatives and members of the hospital staff. While the relatives begged to deposit the body in the hospital’s morgue, the hospital said there was no space. At a point, the staff called a private guard attached to the hospital to walk the relatives out of the premises if they tried to cause any uproar. The staff with an undisclosed identity, insisted that the body be taken to another morgue. At about 1.27pm, the body of Chidinma was removed from the hospital to Myhoung Barracks Hospital morgue at Yaba, where those of other members of her family were deposited. One of the relatives, Jude Ali, said in disbelief: “I cannot believe that Chidinma is dead. We thought she was going to survive in order to tell the world the story. “Members of that family have been wiped out completely. Whoever is behind this will know no peace. All we want is for a thorough investigation to be carried out to unravel the cause of the fire.” A resident of Michael Ogun street, Mrs. Christina Faleti, disclosed that the late Chidinma could have survived had she received swift medical attention. She alleged that the deceased was first taken to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, but was rejected on grounds that there was no police report. According to her, the deceased was, thereafter, taken to a private hospital around the area from where she was referred to Gbagada General Hospital, after about an hour without treatment. She said: “Everything involves money in this land. They could not treat the girl until we brought the money contributed by the community. They did not place her on oxygen until we paid. The chairman of Surulere contributed more than N50,000. I was the one that raised the alarm on the fire, I woke up the entire community and collected money from members. “At the hospital, I noticed that Chidinma’s head was swollen and when I asked the doctor why it was so, he disclosed that water had gathered in that area. He also warned that the drip must not detach from her body in any way. I spoke with her by giving her soothing words. When I said sorry, she responded by looking at me calmly. She was a strong girl who was determined to live, even in the face of death. But treatment was not administered on her on time, else, she would have survived.” The bodies of Mr and Mrs Onoja and those of his mother-in-law, three children and two other relatives, Vanguard gathered yesterday, would be taken to their village at Enugu Ezike, Nsukka, in Enugu State. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/lagos-fire-8-year-old-survivor-dies-in-hospital/#sthash.BECApduD.dpuf cc: Lalasticlala |
I would’ve said the nairalande but he didn’t remember to remove the tag from the Suit’s wrist. Just one thing and you’re disqualified |

ahabue111:Bros, I won’t mind your help o |
Chai, you people have been fooled. EVERYONE YOU SEE THERE ARE STATURES, not the real people themselves ![]() |
danvault:I think the one you have is a replica |
This guy must be sick. |
seems like something from some blog site |
This is exactly what annoys me with people. I’m very sure you’re looking for Mr. Perfect. Get clay and mould one yourself beg. How will you know when you have refused to date? Some people may start off as flings but sometimes u can turn a bad intent into something very worth while |
Oga, 70k and we are good to deal And are you selling that token too? ![]() |
whats the model of the watch? |
ggrin…she’s been gone for too long |
From all I can tell, except you’re not man enough, one of those girls or possibly two of them are gonna call you out on another date, then they are gonna FVCK your brains silly. After then, you will come here to open another thread as to how you were fvcked by 2 lesbians. ![]() |
Never invest too much emotions into a relationship until you’re married. It saves you from emotional wreck and a possible sudden death. OP…move on, get distracted, think of things u never liked in her or about her (thats why God made us with the good and the bad), so that we can always find a way out for ourselves. Go out and make enough money, girls yapa! |
Jennylov:I have not stolen anyone’s money, rather I have once been scammed and I know how it feels. You are a THIEF, God will punish your generation for stealing someone’s money. OLE! May thieves steal your fortune from you if you don’t return PEACH’s money. And may curses follow you for the rest of your dead life. |
Jennylov:How will God send customers to a THIEF that eat other people’s sweat and walk freely? Look, u better pay her money otherwise all your businesses will crumble before the year runs out |
Vector is still one of the dopest rappers around. Y’all should listen to King Kong and the remix |
This Jennylov is a criminal. For outrightly withholding somebody’s money for close to a year, not giving any sensible explanation and deliberately blocking her. If you do not pay the money now, you will forever live to regret it. You and your fellow scammers are in for a surprise this year. Curse will follow every person that deliberately holds other people’s monies while causing them untold suffering. Same goes for Seunlexy |
put ur price here |
I sympathized with the OP when I first read about his sack. But after reading this, I actually think his stupid pride is getting to his head. Must u announce to the world wat u fvcking did? Who gives a fvck? I think u deserve dat sack and if I'm opportune to sack u again, I'll not hesitate. Arrant nonsense! |
Well…. I feel thats a warning signal you should not ignore. That man might end up treating your sister far worse if they end up in a challenging situation. Some soldiers ‘over do’ things and this is one of such example. Explain the situation to your sister and let her understand things for herself |

Why the long grammar na? NO CREDIT. Simple!!! ![]() |
nwadiuko1:There’s already a collabo of Phyno and Vector |
First of, I wanna say shout out to VECTOR for his collabo with Phyno and others on the remix of his song, KING KONG. That remix was the baddest cool song I’ve heard in a long time. Although as much as I understand the shine out stance in rap music, I think Olamide would have done a better rap version for that remix. Anyways, the guy who did the Yoruba rap did a fairly good job and I think I like his rap style. Back to collaborations, P-Square will make a mega hit if they combine their style with Flavour’s. The first day I heard “Collabo” ft Don Jazzy, I could literally picture Flavor doing his thing in that song. If P-Square will consider a remix, I will suggest they do it with Flavor. |
Abeg if the job is well paying, pass it on to me. Na me need am pass ![]() |
