Hello everyone
At this point I’m beginning to think I am cursed or something as I am so confused and saddened.

I currently work as a band 5 in the NHS and after 4 months of hard work and rejections looking for a sponsored role, I got a band 7 offer project manager role. I noticed my contract said fixed so I messaged the HR asking why my contract isn’t permanent. I assumed I would be sponsored but I never brought this up with anyone. I got this response “
We can only offer you a fixed-term contract as you have an expiry date on your visa, once your visa expires you will need to give HR your new visa information and your contract will be renewed to the next expiry date on your visa, this will happen until you have permanent right to work in the UK”.

I have not asked them anything about sponsorship but the response has completely shattered me as I would be moving to another town for this role, my current job contract expires in August and I’ve been told renewal is possible.

I am confused on the next step of action to take, do I try to ask for sponsorship and risk the offer being withdrawn or do I accept the fixed term and risk not giving me myself enough time to look for a sponsored role. My visa expires next year November .

I really need help so I don’t make the wrong choice.

Hello everyone, thank you so much for encouraging me to ask for sponsorship and other advise given. I spoke to the HR about sponsorship and I got the email response below, my only question now is what do they mean by “to confirm if we can proceed” does this mean there is still no confirmation on the sponsorship or is this about the timeline . I just blurred out the name of my manager, also does anyone know why it was my manager who had to decide whether or not to sponsor me, is this common practice in the NHS ?

Thank you everyone for all your help.

@strata1716… if I understand you correctly what visa are you on? If you are on a skilled work visa, then as soon as you leave your current job no matter the length of the BRP, your visa expires when you leave the current employer.
So what is the November next year you speak of date? A fixed term contract just means it would have a fixed duration and has nothing to do with sponsorship. If you would require sponsorship in terms of COS then speak to the employer . Just ask them directly
I’m on a graduate visa hence why I’m scared not to hv a sponsored job at this point

You were allowed to stay?
Yes

I told them they didn’t have the right to ask me to leave as I have kept to the tenancy agreement. The grounds they said they wanted to evict me on, I informed them I didn’t fall under it by giving them the legal definition and case law.

Actually she’s moving out, I refused to moved out and told my landlord they have no right to ask me to leave, quoted the law for them in a strongly worded email and she will be moving out now.

Would you rather not stress to look for another apartment than living with a co-tenant who seems out to frustrate you?

How many more police incident awaits in the future? After all the hustling, the least one thing everyone owes themself is to retire back home to peace in a dwelling free of rancor.

That is my point of view, you and others may see things differently!
She doesn’t frustrate me anymore, that ended a couple of weeks back after I stood my ground and refused to be bullied. Looking for an apartment is a whole lot of stress also rents are higher than it was when I moved in.

A section 8 is an at fault eviction so you are deemed to have broken a, some or all the terms and conditions of your rental agreement. Did they state which ones? If yes, then it is a valid notice. You are not being discriminated against. It is one of the proper ways of evicting a tenant.

Your main issues were 1. Not contacting the agents immediately issues started arising and 2. Not documenting anything at all. Certainly the 2 visits to the agents office should have been preceded by an email detailing the circumstances in the house. It is now a he said/ she said and the agents/ landlords likely don't want to deal with that which is fair.

Be that as it may, it is in your best interests to find somewhere else and leave unless you want them to go through the full eviction process ie court and I bet they will have their costs charged back to you.

You can seek legal advice but be prepared to spend money. Do you want to go through that hassle? You'll need to prove that the notice was wrongly issued and even if you win, they'll probably hit you with a S21 which is a no fault notice ie they don't need to give you any reason at all apart from I want my house/ room back and that is also 2 months notice

If I were you, I would negotiate for a longer notice period and get them to agree that they give you a good reference so you can find somewhere else. In fact, get them to pre-write, sign and give you the reference so they don't back track later. Obviously if you don't need a reference then that's a moot point.
Thank you, they didn’t state what the grounds for possession are. everything about the issues that happened are documented, I have pictures, videos and chats. I didn’t contact the agent because I felt it was unnecessary but I immediately let them know when the police was here. I will spend a lot of money moving out of the apartment, getting a truck, taking leave days to pack up my things as well as looking for somewhere with the same amount of rent.

Good evening everyone
Hope the cold is treating us well.

I am very confused and I believe I am being discriminated against.

I moved into my apartment June 2023 with a stranger, it’s a building complex and we both signed a tenancy agreement with the property managers. Few weeks later my flat mate started trying to stress and control me to which I was having none of it. A lot of issues happened but it never resulted into a physical fight or anything of the sort. She asked me to leave and I told her I would not leave the apartment as she wasn’t my lady and had no right to throw me out. Last month i got a knock on my room door and the police officer was in front of me telling me my flatmate accused me of burglary, after I explained everything and what I have been going through, the police officer said no further action will be taken as it is a domestic issue. I also made complaints of what my flatmate did to me and the police officer recorded them. The police officer said our landlord should be told of what happened and so I went down to report the situation, I didn’t meet the managers and I only spoke to the receptionist who asked me to come the next day. I went the next day to speak to the property managers but couldn’t and was told they’ll reach out to me, this was never done.

Yesterday I got an email which I attach, I responded saying I have no plans to leave my apartment and this hasn’t been discussed with me. Today I got another email saying I have to leave on the 30.02.24 and I am confused because this is not a valid reason to terminate my tenancy. I have also not breached any grounds under section 8. These people have been very dismissive and have not reached out to speak to me.

Please what can I do as I do not want to move due to the stress involve in looking for an apartment as well as moving out. Please I really need help.
Justwise Zahra29 hustla Lexusgs430 and everyone please help

Need advice for a friend.

She got a band 3 (mental health support) job from NHS and got another one as Administrative Officer with one government department both of the same salary.

Asking which offer a more progression.

Don’t consider sponsorship in advice.

I don’t also know what to advice, reason for posting here.
It depends on what field she wants to go into, for example: I got an Admin coordinator job then project coordinator then project manager. This was how I progressed my career.

You should ask her what she plans to do

Good afternoon House.
please I need the best of advice/ideas to solving this problem before someone does what he no suppose.
An ex patient or service user raised a sexual complaint against her previous carer since last year August and he has been suspended from work ever since. We first thought it would be over soon that its just to do investigation and come up with findings which will either proof guilt or innocence. But loo and behold up till now the issue is still on the table. The last action that sparked outrage was during one session he was asked some questions in which he mentioned hes schooling in a university, so they now went ahead to write the Uni to inform them hes under investigation so the uni asked him to stay away until he is cleared. I cant stomach this injustice anymore. Please how does someone fight this kind of battle. It took months for the details of the so called offence that led to safeguard was even known o. the police have been invited and they couldnt find any evidence of misbehavior. Yet these people are hell bent in destroying a mans life. the only thing was that the girl was given a lift and the discussion was going intimate and he claimed he stopped it and dropped her off at the hospital and went his way. that very week wahala started and up till now na on top of the matter we still dey. No work since last year and the small consolation traing hes trying to do they blocked it without any formal conviction. this BS has to stop.

Please any great advice will be welcomed
Thanks.
Nigerian men will keep entering soup until they learn to keep sexual, intimate or romantic thoughts to themselves. The mere fact he spoke to her intimately is sexual harassment.

Thank you guys for responding.

I spoke with the wife; she said she’s tired of everything and also whenever they have an issue, her husband will call her dad cos he knows she’s scared of her dad.
Also, the guy has never pushed for a reconciliation, it was always her.
She brought the guy into UK; all expenses paid by her. He was a teacher back home (30k salary).
They’ve got no kids; married for almost 2 years.

To me I feel the guy is like that because he didn’t invest in the relationship.
I’ve hands off and not telling him the advises I got from here. Whatever wants to become of him should be.
A man will never value a woman he doesn’t invest in.

I'm sorry, but it's clear you've been taken up with the headlines and distracted from the intricacies of the situation.

What would you have the UK government do? Send in soldiers to the streets of Khartoum to pull out every last UK citizen from their homes or other places where they are sheltering in place? That would be an invasion, essentially, and the soldiers would have to fight the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF to escort British citizens there.

Have you considered what might happen if they keep flying planes into an active war zone? If something like MH-17 happens again what would you have them do? Blow up swathes of Khartoum in retaliation? Or again, send a regiment in on 'peacekeeping' to install a new regime?

Citizens of various countries were stuck in Ukraine when Russia invaded. How many countries sent armed forces in there to retrieve their citizens? Even the US didn't. The best most could do was put their people on friendly borders to welcome those who made it there and get them home. There's a reason for that, and it's not because Tories head the governments of all those countries.

You didn't mention that several countries including the UK brokered a peace deal that they then used to evacuate as many as possible. Now the factions are not adhering to the peace deal. I genuinely ask you - what would you have the UK government do? Just outline your proposed solution, please.
It’s truly sad that Britons have been abandoned in Sudan especially as this same govt found a way to rescue animals from Ukraine, suddenly their hands are tied when it comes to Sudan
