Amarathripple0: £800 makes a lot of sense. Strata1716 I think you should go with her route as mine was only affordable because I got a discount through my school. Thanks, her route does sound more cost effective. |

Also how many years of experience do you have? That could be a big factor too. Can I request for supporting information format too |

EJIOGBENIMI: I don’t have access to this email. I can understand how you feeling and It’s normal to feel that way. You’ve scaled through the most difficult part. That’s being selected for the interview. NHS interviews are structured and quite straightforward. I attended 2 and I was successful in both. The interview questions are usually structured into 4 parts: 1) “Run us through your resume” or whichever way they want to ask the same question. Your knowledge about the Trust. Trust values and your understanding of them. These are just random questions. 2) 1 or 2 Clinical scenarios or job-specific questions. 3) An ethical scenario, asking you ethical questions. They want to know how “safe” people are going to be, under your care. 4) They’ll conclude the interview by asking you if there’s anything you would like to know or ask them. They’ll also use the opportunity to tell you more about the role and person specification. Your interpersonal and communication skills would be put to test as well. you can ask them any relevant general question and seek for clarification in the role, if any. You can as well watch some relevant videos on YouTube, specifically for the role you applied for. They won’t require much from you. Just demonstrate to them that you’ll be a safe and supportive employee. If you require any further information, do not hesitate to quote me. Good luck. Thanks boss, it shall end in praise. |

EJIOGBENIMI: Here's my own timeline: I had my interview on 3 Nov. offer of employment on 6 Nov. Submitted police character on 15th, my references responded around same period. They sent a mail to confirm that they will proceed to apply for my cos on 16th (I had to call her to remind her about the maintenance). COS was issued and sent to me on Friday 18 November. My sponsor is one of the NHS Trusts. Hi |

Ticha: https://www.gov.uk/rent-room-in-your-home/your-lodgers-tenancy-type
See where it says reasonable notice? It's just that. What is reasonable to the home owner. Like I wrote earlier, if for any reason the home owner also calls the police be that out of malice or otherwise (which we cannot discount), your friend will be removed immediately. Also if no money is changing hands ie she's not actually paying rent but providing services for accommodation, then she is an excluded tenant as well so can be asked to leave without notice.
Her only recourse will be if they have a written contract that says otherwise ie states a specific notice period. However, your friend will have to take her to court to enforce that and where will she stay in the meantime?
It's easy to say she should fight and stay. How is she going to share a house, lounge, bathroom and kitchen with someone who does not want her there? That relationship is going to go south very, very quickly. Thanks Ticha for providing additional information, from the website it says a fixed term and periodic term so does this mean that regardless of the fact that they signed an agreement which grants my friend a fixed term of 6 months it doesn’t matter and my friend can be kicked out regardless? Just trying to clarify so I know how best to advise her. |
Travel › Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Strata1716: 7:46am On Nov 30, 2022 |
Ticha: This seems like a boarder/ flatmate agreement. It falls completely outside tenancy rules and regulations. Plus she is not paying rent at all so the home owner is within their rights to ask them to leave anytime. When we used to have boarders, our standard notice was 7 days but it can be as short as 24 hours if we felt it was necessary ie person turns aggressive. Police will also attend and remove if called especially as there are children there.
To be honest, rent is one of the biggest expenses for anyone in the UK. If someone has offered you a rent free space for interaction, you'd better be showing up and providing that interaction that you signed up for! Thank you so much for your response, The person didn’t offer rent for interaction, they offered rent in exchange for my friends time to babysit her kid which my friend has always done without any complaint. They both signed an agreement for a six months fixed term, from what I saw online if it’s is a periodic term(no fixed term) then a landlord can ask the lodger to leave at anytime if it is not a periodic term and it is a fixed term then a landlord cannot ask the person to leave until the fixed term had been serve; this also applies to lodgers. Please are you saying the above is wrong ? |

Good morning everyone, thank you for always helping out. Please I will love to seek advise on something important.
A friend of mine currently stay in a 4bedflat with a mum and 2 kids, she babysits one of the kid with special needs in exchange for paying rent so she only pays bills and not rent, she signed a six month term agreement with the mum and for two months has been living there and doing the babysitting.
On the 26th of this month the woman asked her to leave on the 23rd of December saying that my frequent isn’t communal and she needs someone that engages and don’t stay in the room all the time, truthfully my friend is the type of person that keeps to herself and mind her business but my friend is currently doing her masters and working so she tends to be tired and busy a lot and she’s not the extroverted type.
My friend was shocked and in tears called me to ask if the woman can ask her to leave even though there is still 4 months left on their agreement, I thought to ask people here who are more experienced and will be able to help.
Please I’ll be really grateful if I can get answers because my friend has been really down and unhappy. |

I am at a crossroad. My CRS score is 493 but my IELTS expires on 21st Nov and my WES 23rd Nov. I am honestly frustrated because it took me several attempts(been writing since early 2017)to get this score and now I don’t know if scores would drop to that level before 21st. I have everything ready to apply as soon as I get ITA but I am really pensive. What do you advise? Should I rewrite another IELTS or remain hopeful. I am honestly tired. Hi please can I pm you? |

giselle237: you have to pay. Cheapest option is the Al maha lounge which is 45 pounds before trip day and allows maximum 6 hours stay. You’ll need a dom card to do this. If you are using a 3rd party’s card then u might need to send their id and statement for cc verification. Thank you so much for your reply. |

Solumtoya: It's a massive Airport with lots of chairs, benches, many are quite comfortable to sleep in if you're not ajebota. But if you're a ajebota, you can easily get a lounge. There's Wifi, Charging points so you can use your gadgets, walk around, read a book. 10 hours is quite long though especially if you don't have family or friends to gist with but you'd be fine sha. It's not that serious. Thank you so much |

TheGuyFromHR: Try and find a way to insert yourself, even if it's at the periphery and work your way to where you can. Areas like information governance and privacy, data protection, moving on to DPO (not Nigeria police o), you could then segue into infosec at some level, maybe. I write some JDs and the pay is good for those areas, even though they're not considered pure IT/tech roles.
Not everyone can do pure tech, we all have different abilities, for instance, I can barely count, hate Excel with a passion (still learning that program after all these years), and don't even know how I managed to get through training school when I got my bank job. Payroll stuff gives me nightmares when the spreadsheets land in my inbox.
The areas I mentioned above are for people like me who are most comfortable dealing with words, not numbers. I function best when dealing with policies, firing off emails and answering the sometimes inane queries from employees (HR here is in many ways not very different from it is in Naija, sometimes employees bring the craziest kinds of stuff to us). You see what you can do to upskill in an area you can manage. You might be surprised to find there's something within your abilities that will fetch you the figures you named above. This is me, I currently work in hr&admin here in Nigeria and I love and enjoy my work so much but I’ve heard hr job in the uk are not there for foreigners, it’s quite wild because now I’m thinking of a different career path wen I land in the uk with my student visa. |
