I think we have not been asking enough questions abou how the then governing party, the PDP was getting its 'account breaking votes' from.
According to analysts and observers, the 2015 elections was the one in which the Nigerian people registered their highest ever participation and one in which a lot was at stake for both sides, so literally, everyone brought his 'A' game.
But ultimately, looking at the result, you will realise that consistently, the votes of two particular regions that have hitherto been the party's stronghold were not upto the numbers anticipated from them: I am talking about the SE and SS.
Come 2019, these regions' votes diminished further from what was obtainable in 2011 and 2015.
This gives rise to the question, where was PDP getting those votes from?
Please check the wikipedia result of all elections from 2007 to date.
yordha: The core north I know will rather support any illiterate from the north and suffer for another eight years as long as he's a muslim and Hausa/Fulani than any other candidate from another part of the country. As far as they're concern, you are an infidel. I expect to see Obi's campaign trains also in the south west, the christians community in Nigeria are willing to show support but he has to rebrand himself more as a "Nigerian Project" rather than a "South East Project" and his IPOB cyber bullies are doing more harm to his candidacy than good, he should tame them.
The core north that supported Obj and Gej even when buhari was contesting?
Reader530: He donated it. Look at the picture, it is different person. This is not fabrication but Hausa legit online news carried it. So is this the hand work of Igbos. I am from the north and for justice. Peter Obi all the way.
Erm, that's a Facebook group sir not the website of a newspaper, I hope you know what that means?
techmatas: The area of IT that is mostly in demand is definitely Automation
Thanks for the reply.
Considering that most Nigerian universities do not have these courses: AI, ML, data and deep learning (most universities lack these courses and for those that have it, they are mostly basic), do you think certificates and experience will pave the way for an individual? Or does it have it to be a masters degree in such fields with the attached work experience?
The oil and gas offshore/onshore production platforms often demand technically inclined professionals with outstanding skills, training and experience to man its facility. In an offshore/onshore production setting, various professionals ranging from painters, welders, operators, technicians, document controllers and engineers work together to see that production goals are achieved. In a typical oil and gas production platform there is often very high demand for hands on skilled personnel like the technicians, operators, artisans, etc, far more than any other trade. In fact, these group of workers make up over 80% of workers in the shore hence the list will be dominated by these set of workers.
The following list shows in order the most likely dominant trade you can find in any offshore /onshore production platform
Maintenance Personnel Maintenance personnel tops the list. Maintenance personnel are responsible for the repairs as well as routine and preventive maintenance of the oil and gas production facilities as well as the living quarters utilities of the accommodation areas. The maintenance team is made up of different unit ranging from instrumentation/controls, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, etc. Each maintenance unit is made up of mainly technician with supervisors heading each unit and onshore support Engineers providing necessary maintenance support from onshore. A minimum of ND or it equivalent is what qualifies one to work as maintenance technician in most offshore/onshore companies.
Instrument/controls personnel Instrumentation and control professionals are currently the most demanded profession in a typical modern oil and gas production platform maintenance team hence they are often the largest personnel you can find on site within the team. As modern production facilities get increasingly automated so also the demand for automation professionals (Instrumentation, controls, safety controls, etc) increases.
Who’s qualified Although personnel with Electrical/Electronic background dominate this field. Other engineering professionals or science personnel with appropriate training/certification and or experience can also fit in. Mechanical system personnel
mechanical system professionals are the second largest group of personnel you can find in the maintenance team. production systems are mechanical in nature so frequent breakdown is always envisaged hence the high demand for mechanical technicians and their allied professionals. Besides, for efficient operation of those equipment the need for routine and preventive maintenance is inevitable. Compressors, Turbines, blowers, hydraulic systems, among others fall within the purview of mechanical professionals. In
Who’s qualified Although personnel with Mechanical background dominate this field. Other engineering professionals or science personnel with appropriate training/certification and or experience can also fit in.
Electrical System Personnel
This is often the second most sort after professionals in the oil and gas production facility. The fact that the production system utilizes electricity to power it machinery it becomes imperative that adequate personnel be available to ensure that power system is adequately maintained. pumps, compressors, blowers, HVAC, utilities, etc among others are parts of the equipment that is powered by electricity offshore. in fact, a typical offshore location may have an electrical power demand in excess of 20MW! (Can easily power a town). In a typical production site, they can have up to seven to eleven electrical personnel onboard.
Who is qualified Although personnel with Electrical/Electronic background dominate this field. Other engineering professionals or science personnel with appropriate training/certification and or experience can also fit in.
Construction/fabrication personnel These are usually the second most likely dominant group of personnel you can find on site in the shores. There job is usually physically challenging and they usually complement the maintenance team. In this group we have the Scaffolders, painters/blaster, riggers, rope access, welders, crane operators, forklift operators, etc.
Who is qualified In most cases, minimum of O level certificate with relevant experience, training/certification can qualify one to work as any of the above stated trades.
Production Personnel production personnel used to be the most dominant professionals in a typical oil and gas production facilities, after all they operate the production facilities. However, due to increasingly modernization and automation of the production system fewer and fewer operators are currently on demand. over 85% of the oil and gas production machinery runs autonomously with production operators merely monitoring the performance of the system hence you keep having less and less operators as production get even more automated.
Who is qualified A minimum of ND (ND, HND, BSC, etc) in any of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering) courses is what is required to be considered.
Marine Personnel These are personnel who are involved in all marine operations and logistics. They are usually in charge of the various vessels around the shore, the chemical supplies, the food supplies, the equipment supplies, boat landing and helicopter operations.
Who is qualified In most cases minimum of O level certificate with relevant experience qualifies you.
nameo: NIWA does not have control over the waterways or esp the lands close to it. It only manages it. Control over land in Nigeria belong to the people, held in trust by the STATE Govts. This is the constitution.
1. Also, one of the reasons adduced for the FG wanting to take control of the banks of the waterways in the country (10km on either side) is to use some of it for cattles.
2. Just informing you. Will not do back and forth with you
Thanks for your reply. You are the first person to give me something meaningful, reference no. 2 above.
1. The so called Riga policy is currently being implemented in some States with support of the fg (though requested by the state), why does the govt need to take over water ways and their banks to achieve what it already has a head start?
If eventually people (indigenous or otherwise) want to go into cattle fattening, how is the water bill going to affect them?
Not looking for back and forth but rather constructive and informative discourse, this is to get what truly is happening beyond the sensational reportage and each side sticking to wrong narrative as is coming with things like these.
Edit: Another by the side, could this be a battle for control of water ways between fg and state govt? As is common, the fg manages highways linking state capitals and their LGS and other states, could it be they want to have clear jurisdiction over the water ways as some these waterways are interstate with the fg saddled with almost all responsibilities regarding them?
Have not seen a draft of the bill so forgive my inquisitiveness. V
ImmaculateJOE: Okay.. I have more than a thousand Northern Christian friends.. More than 70% of them are Obidient
OK.
But you need to understand something, northerners to a great extent are realists especially with regards these issues that's why tambuwal stepped down for atiku, northern APC governors were adamant that the ticket should go south and numerous other instances. You can connect the dots.
ImmaculateJOE: Okay... Conduct a sample research for 20 Northern Christians on who they will vote next... Come back with the result, let's continue with the discussion... Be unbias about it..
nikky5: No doubt Peter Obi is young and articulate. He is endowed with Sterling leadership qualities and innovation. Currently, he is the youths sensational media hype. The OBIdient youths has set the cyberspace on fire for the emergence of Peter Obi as the next President of Nigeria.
Many of these youths do not understand the dynamics of Nigeria politics and the intrigues of power play. There are political Kings and pawns on the chessboard.
The Northern Nigeria are the real game changers of Nigeria politics. It is believed by pundits that without the support of the North, you cannot win a presidential election in Nigeria.
That's very correct. They have the population that will give the needed block votes.
The choice of Shettima from the North East as the VP elect on the APC ticket is a perfect game plan. It's a dead end for both Atiku and Peter Obi who has no chance of winning in the Northern States.
It is very clear that the North wants power to return to the South for the sake of equity and fairness in governance. It's also a sustainable recipe for national stability and unity.
Peter Obi is not a friend of the North. He cannot win in any of their states. The reasons are very obvious.
In recent times, the northerners in the South East has been killed by unknown gunmen suspected to be IPOBs. What was Obi's reactions?
The real voters in the North are not social media warlords. What has the North benefitted from Peter Obi?
The Northerners feel safe in a united Nigeria with the Southwest than a region agitating for seccession. They cannot trust the Southeast with power.
Obi has no political structures in the North. He is a green horn from an unpopular party. It's clear that Kwankwaso will join the BAT train any moment from now for a final conquest of the Northern States.
Candid speaking, Obi will make a good minister of Finance but not a President. Maybe ten years from now he will be ripe for that office.
How someone sits in his room and becomes a consultant on northern politics should be a research project.
ImmaculateJOE: If there are 100 Northerners voters (indigents).. 60-65 are Muslims while 35-40 are Christians.. About 22 of those Christians will be voting Peter Obi, 15 will go for Atiku and the rest will vote Tinibu... About 3 of the Northern Muslims will vote for Obi.. These will amount to about 25% of votes in the North.. Definitely not a bad result... I didn't include millions of Igbos and other Southerners who will be voting in the Nor, like myself.. Most of us will go for Obi..
The biggest lie you guys tell yourselves is that northern Christians will vote for obi.
T9ksy: 1. Basically, the (fulani) govt of Nigeria wants to take over all waterways in the country and also 10km from the banks of such waterways.
2. In essence, the waterways Bill is just a smokescreen for the fulani govt to achieve ruga which had been vigorously resisted by those it concerned.
1. Don't we have the NIWA for that? I think it has the mandate of mantaining safety of lives on all inland water ways and also to improve commercial activities that happen along such water ways, why would any govt. need a water bill to achieve what it already has?
2. What has inland water ways got to do with Riga? As we speak, Ruga is being implemented in some states as pilot project while more states are expected to follow suit later.
I know some of us get emotional when we see people who have little or no knowledge about Islam come and attack Islam and Muslims with their weak and stupid arguments such that we try our best to set the records straight.
In the best interest of yourself and the ummah, only engage sensible people in discussions.
Most of them do it just to derail the thread
If a Pig plays dirty ( which is what it is known for) you don't engage it. It will enjoy it while you will end up worse than when you started it.
Ignore them. I know it might be difficult at first but it will get easier with time and insha Allah be productive.
Finally check out the attached screenshot to give you a glimpse of what I mean.
May Allah ease our affairs and set our affairs straight.
I have also observed this, your suggestions are on point. May Allah make it easy for us.
Zetra7: When they rejected Buhari, everyone wondered why. Despite Buhari's winning in 2015, they maintained that APC is Alamajiri / Islamist party.
Eight years afterwards, majority of the good people of Nigeria have finally understand where the nation is heading.
Check the whole key positions on this country today, it is headed by Muslims...
Allah have finally won against their Christ and this is just the beginning. Nigeria will become an Islamist nation, once Tinubu wins..
Eight years of Buhari , Eight years of Tinubu , Eight years of Shettima and power will never ever got back to Christians infact, there are Muslim SS like Edo who will be used to seal the domination..
Now I have agreed, Igbos have vision , no wonder they excel in business as they see what others don't see..
What are Igbos saying now, who do they think will perform in Aso rock ? It's time to listen to them..
We will give it to them for not seeing through Ojukwu and ironsi plan to them to slaughter.
For not knowing how to put themselves to reap politically.
For electing the worst of the worse to always represent them. We will give it to them.
DeltaFire: Fulani! Fulani go home! Fulani go home to Futa Jallon. Nigerians want PEACE. Not your endless CONQUEST AGENDA. We shall do to you what CAR did to you. Simple.
WATER BILL: ‘NO LAND IN BENUE’, ORTOM VOWS TO RESIST FG’S BILL ALLEGEDLY CEDING NIGERIA BY PROXY
Feggie3: If things are done orderly with sign of economic growth, fairness and justice and assurance of equity and most importantly security of lives and properties. Agitation for separation will die a natural death.
1. If you are a child from the east and growing up you learnt that these group committed a genocide on your soil murdering millions and that they expand by forceful conquering and their God has instructed them to kill you on first sight because your religion makes you an infidel, of course you will develop a natural phobia for them. These are the fundamental factors that makes an easterner never to be at ease with a northerner. I overcame this phobia as an educated adult. Though I still find them scary!
1. Victimhood mentality. You fought a war and lost and still accuse the other side of killing your people? Were the biafran soldiers sharing roses to northerners? Or the federal troops killed by the biafrans didn't have families and loved ones?
See, this thing goes both ways, the earlier we acknowledge the mistake the civil war was (on both sides) and work towards meaningful nationhood, the better for us. The civil war is more than 50 years, taking our life expectancy that's a generation but we are still stuck in that chaotic cycle. This is not good.
