Family › Re: In-laws Attack! by subzidi: 9:38am On Apr 24, 2015 |
Konboko: It all started just before Christmas last year. My wife had asked me to allow her take our 3 kids home to her mother for the celebrations. This I did not agree to because we did not contemplate it and as such I was not prepared for the financial implications. More so that she has been actively involved in the planning for the season. She told her Mum that I refused her request and calls started coming in. At first my mother in-law tried to convince me but I stood my grounds as I was not prepared for the long trip to Warri from Lagos. I also thought of the financial cost as well as the need to pay their school fees in January. I tried to explain all to no avail. In fact, the more I explained the more she got angry. It got to a point that my mother in-law started saying it is as if I am suspecting her of witchcraft. This she told her other children and that marked the starting point of all the attacks. She has 3 sons and one sister and brother here in Lagos. She called them all telling them that I called her a witch. This I never thought of not to talk more of saying. The first attack came first weekend of February when her first son came to my house to confront me. Despite all explanations he made sure he did not leave without hitting me. The following weekend he came back with his 2 younger ones to beat me up. They left after only vandalising my 2 cars because I refused to open the door for them. I called the police in But they fled. Now they are threatening to deal with me anywhere we meet. My Father in-law is late and their uncle in Lagos is even younger than the 2nd of my 3 brother in-laws though he has not really tried to help matters. I am seriously thinking of sending their daughter back to them if that is what they want as the attacks still continues. Only last week they came to my house in my absence and asked my wife to warn me. Pls help with advice on way out pllleeeaaassseee! I am soooooo pained! Your wife is the cause of this mess, even if she didn't agree with you her duty was to protect you before her mum such that she explains the situation as though it was a joint decision by both of you! Instead she goes ahead to push you under the bus by by blatantly saying you refused allowing the trip even with your tenable explaination. Hmmmm this was why during the time I was single +available I disliked any man who seemed to be tied to their parents apron strings same for women. Sometimes I read people place toooooo much premium on their parents perception about their choice of partner in both ways....that's the resultant effect! Oga Op please lodge a complaint indicating your life is in danger with the police and follow it up with a lawsuit charging them for assault. Also read the riot act to your wife your wife as her duty is to protect you but I don't see her living up to that in this case. What nonsense! |

If it were, the Governors will ensure that the little they get from the federal allocation counts! Serves them right after all they gave him a 2nd term so why won't he aspire to be their senator...yimu |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Lost Job Due To Oil Industry Recession But Got Mouth Watering Job by subzidi: 12:24pm On Mar 14, 2015 |
Olutola88: I really don't see anything secretive here. He has given a summary of his journey and he promised to share some helpful hints later.
Even if he doesn't share more, I'm satisfied with all these information. OP has made us realize:
1. At times, you need a big fall to know where you stand:
People that say every cloud as a silver lining do know what they mean. There are times one just needs to fail as failure at times equips one for the ultimate success. Never see a challenge as a stumbling block but a stepping stone
2. Adequate Strategic Planning can change your story:
It's conspicuous that the OP knew what he wanted. 90% of fresh job seekers in Nigeria don't know what they want. But is it totally our fault? Obviously NO! Most of us just apply anywhere, anytime & anyhow simply because the whole system itself is anyhow.
We are not creative with our job search. We don't plan and strategize, we just see openings and dump our CVs. Some of us don't even bother checking out requirements these days. We just throw our CVs everywhere *lol*
OP indirectly said: Proper planning & Right strategies can help
3. If you really want it, Give it your all
Truth be told, most of us are too lazy to do all the OP has done. Connected with about 25 foreign Oil&Gas companies, Updated his Linkedin profile and even paid for a higher package, registered with about 19 outsourcing firms etc. (He has just taught us that we might need to go the extra mile to get our dreams achieved).
4. Don't get a Job, Get a Career
This is another problem Nigerian job seekers have. Most of us (especially fresh graduates) don't mind the job role, all we want is the pay. But how can you blame us when the jobs are so scarce like water in the desert. This has made it very difficult to get choosy ( shebi na when you see 3-4 jobs you go say you wan choose; wen some people no dey even get one offer in 2 years).
Don't work as a marketer for one company for one year and work in Cash & Teller unit of a Bank for another 2 years and later, you work as an analyst in a Laboratory for another 18 months.
If we can build a career, get a kind of job role we will be happy to do for another 20 years. Then getting a bigger & better offer along the line won't be an issue.
I'm sure the OP built a career in a particular Oil&Gas function, reason why he could get a better job in that line. So, OP taught us another thing
5. “Relevant” Experience matters
Read my lips and pronounce RE LE VANT!
I was discussing with some job applicants for a Contract Cash & Teller position in a Bank. The bank said some successful applicants will work in Cash&Teller while others will work in Customer Service Unit. I argued that the Customer Service Unit is way better than Cash & Teller as I don't see any gain of experience in Cash & Teller. They were against my view, they argued that at least they will have 2 years work experience after working two years in the Teller unit.
I asked them, do you want to apply for another Teller job after the two years? They said NO but they will use the experience to apply for another job. I told them outright that I can never employ you as an experienced hire for any role other than Cash & Teller. (Btw, Cash & Teller should even be for OND holders; I think Nigeria is in a mess)
Companies that ask for relevant work experience know what they need. Most experienced hire vacancies I see always read:
2-3 years experience in Sales Minimum of 5 years experience in Quality Assurance etc
OP has indirectly taught us that Experience is vitally important in getting bigger & better offers. BUT when you are garnering your experience, make sure it's the RELEVANT one.
...Olutola88 Still searching for a promising career
Cheers You took the words right out of my mouth! A lot of youths are very lazy to read and assimilate the reason most of the points the guy highlighted were left out! How can someone be asking for more details when they were succinctly spelt out here? This method was also what played out in my situation with the grace of God and I moved from 6 figure to 7 figure! Job searching these days requires a lot of creativity and hardwork. Take the extra mile to polish your cv and if you do not know how then pay a good recruitment consulting firm to do it for you...this is specifically for those with job experience. Use your money to develop yourself by acquiring skills, trainings both foreign and local as they go a long way! Do not always wait on your employer to send you on one! I went as far as acquiring a training from LBS and was about to pay out of pocket before my previous employer then decided to pay for it, alas that was the exact attraction my current employer saw. Some of my colleagues then went as far as going to Havard Business School to acquire trainings in their field and I can say it is paying off for most of them. With determination, self confidence, hunger to learn and acquire more knowledge trust me there is no how an employer can "shakara for u" |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Should I pay a whooping sum of 500k to get a job? Please Advice!!!.... by subzidi: 3:55pm On Mar 11, 2015 |
I am really ashamed at this headline as it is somewhat an indictement on us-Nigerians as a corrupt nation which is apparently true though---shame! This now beckons on us to answer this pertinent question"Do you want things to remain as they are? Do you want to continue to pay to get jobs instead of merit?....March 28th 2015 is a date with history to give you an opportunity to decide the type of nation you desire. Back to topic, OP : Please do not pay any money to anybody for a job in NNPC it is 100% SCAM. I have friends in managment position there and i can tell you that for free! You need to add more value to your CV as the job market gets more competitive as the days go by! I will advise you opt for MBA instead of MSC which is more accademic. Do you have passion for buying and selling? Trust me there are so many things to invest your 500k on, women's fashion items sell like fire example;weavons, under wears, sexy lingeries etc. You can buy them and go to university campus to sell them in hostels. Real Eastate business is another sector that is enjoying some boom especially with recent crash in the price cement, now you can liase with business men/traders in Alaba building market, Orile Building market, Weilders, Aluminium fabricators etc anywhere depending on your location , identify products like electrical fittings, tiles, kitchen cabinets, doors, buglaries proof etc You make your self a freelance marketer and visit building sites to generate sales on these items then negotiate margin. The above you can do even while going about your normal business looking for job. Lastly, you can learn a skill and start your own small sme and i'm sure there thousands to chose from depending on your passion...event management, DJing, photography, makeup etc... I wish you the best in quest for way forward! |

Can I do it now? 3)What other supplement can I take in addition for now?
Cc: Ebube, LadyG, Lykmau Continue with your pregnacare n folic acid, you can add coq10/royal jelly to boost egg quality n wheatgrass either powder or tablet to boost egg quantity. Your dh should be on wellman conception to jig things up too from his side. As per acupuncture it's better done immediately after egg transfer while still lying down to help you relax ie if u r doing only 1 session. Otherwise u can do 1 before egg retrieval, 1 b4 egg transfer n after egg transfer! I really prefer prayerful meditation to acupuncture maybe it scared me being my first time as I hate needles!
