Those are not the people you should be bothered with, they are not the ones responsible for Nigeria's misery, you people leave leprosy and keep hammering and yammering on crawcraw.

Abeg park well, let OP come and tell us what he is going to do in Dubai whether it is legitimate business or not!
Shame shame shame! I pray you never find yourself in a situation where bribery affects you directly!
All sectors of this country is ridiculed with corruption and this is what you say! Do you know how many lives have been lost in the hospital because doctor refused to show up and doing his pp in another clinic yet expects govt to pay him salary at the end of the day ie corruption! Do you know how many people have died of kidney failure, cancer and all sorts of terminal diseases because nafdac officials collected bribe and passed off bad products! Just a few days lekki garden building collapsed and 30people died after a building was wrongfully unsealed perhaps bribe changed hands!
And you are here making excuses for bribery and corruption! If the big bosses who are sending them know that their boys are being caught and prosecuted this rubbish will stop and one might even spill the bean on who is sending them to make returns on the bribes collected! Enough of covering this evil!

What is the essence of this thread? To make the officers lose their jobs is why you put their names, right? Who will do the firing, the ogas they are reporting and 'returning' to?

OP, are you a saint, you have never taken or given bribes? What are you going to do in Dubai, is it legitimate business?

Thunder fire you there!

angry
You should really be very ASHAMED of yourself! Your type is the reason why the country is the way it is today! We want a better country yet nobody wants to change!
Why should the officials demand for bribe from him? If their salaries are not enough the right thing to do is resign from the job and look for better paying job or go to farm! For God's sake i don't get this attitude of because everyone is doing a bad therefore it becomes acceptable! That is a very wrong attitude and it needs to stop! Have you even considered the security implication of these corrupt govt officials collecting N4k and passing off a bomb in one of an unsearched luggage? Your type will still come here to lament when a bomb goes off in the plane and perhaps you lose someone dear to you(God forbid) then you'd understand the evil in what those airport officials are doing!
Bribery in any form is evil and it's a cancer that needs aggressive approach by every Nigerian!
I will take it upon myself to make sure that this case gets the publicity it deserves! And I will not stop at that. In fact, I will plant a hidden camera on my next trip to catch and disgrace these corrupt officials!
The new Nigeria we all yearn for starts from all of us! I don't care if the officials lose their jobs so long as the interest of larger populace which is security is protected!
We must all rise up to say no to corruption at all levels!
Pls repent from this mentality!!

May God bless you real good and Mr Emeka as well! I'm literally in tears at the level of commitment you both exhibited to ensure this young lad was safely reunited with his family! This has also shown how bad or non existent social welfare is in this country! So many things could have gone wrong! The boy could have kidnapped by ritualists, maybe abused sexually or otherwise just so many things! The police wasn't even moved by the plight of an innocent soul if not for the stubbornness of you and Mr Emeka!
I am really challenged to think beyond myself and everyday seek out ways to help humanity in any little way I can.
God bless your soul!

During my own time,we don't even own toothbrush. As you get older, maybe around age 7,(you know that time the teachers use to inspect teeth for line during morning assembles) every morning you look for available chewing stick and chew while doing your morning chores or you cut tree branches on your way to school and chew. Shekina!
I laughed so hard at this post...reminds me of my village school children.

HealthRe: Trying To Conceive A Child? TTC by subzidi:
@FVfine: Your worries are understandable due to high risk of every major surgery! I have had two mymectomies myself! One was was in 2011 and the 2nd was 2015. The good news is that I didn't have to do open mymectomy for 2nd one as I discovered a hospital in India recommended by my doctor in Dubai where I had a laparascopic mymectomy! In fact, no matter how big the sizes are they'd not cut you all that's needed are 2 or 3 tiny holes and the surgery is under with MRI machine to be able to detect all hidden fibroid. Very minimal bleeding, heals faster unlike open one that mostly causes scar tissue. During my 2nd procedure the doctor had to remove scar tissue caused by 1st procedure and even figured out a few other things which he corrected that naija doctors couldn't figure out. The procedure cost me about $5k dollars. You wouldn't even know if I show you my belly! I was on my feet next day and given two months to commence GTC activities(Going To Conceive). In fact, I went as far as sending my scan result to a hospital in USA to explore option of robotic mymectomy but upon seeing my result they said open mymectomy before I discovered this hospital/doctor in India. I can give you the Indiian doctor's details he can even advise if you send copy of your scan.

Why are people not asking pertinent questions here? The main question here is " whose duty is it to provide airstairs FAAN or Aero"? When this question is answered then it's obvious to know who to apportion blame to and sanction instead of these accusations and counter accusations!
I do not blame the passengers one bit as it's very frustrating that perhaps after your flight had been delayed you finally take off and upon getting to your destination you cannot come down again due to lack of ladder for wetin? And the option of taking them back to Abuja was even more primitive and inconsiderate!
These passengers were even mellow, I bet if it were my Okoro brothers or even myself inside that plane that's when I would practise how to slide down through the emergency exit door or even scatter the window!

I agree with Ify! People's money especially is stuck in the bank and let's be honest some transactions even abroad might warrant paying cash. Unfortunately it's very difficult to get dollars from Bank not even easy to withdraw over the counter from your dorm. It's a very difficult period for genuine businessmen/women!

What a touching story.
I always wonder why people treat others children(even family) so bad.
It seems their is some sort of sadistic fulfilments they gain from it.
That is why one shouldn't trust a child to live with anybody even if they
are relatives.
All I can say is congrats on scaling through MissAssy.
And by forgiving them you become free yourself.
Very saddening really! I think it's common amongst uneducated/unexposed women who come from deprived background and perhaps luckily gets married to a rich folk...dunno. This is so wrong on all sides regardless

These s called comedians cannot take a simple joke when it's on them! What of Tuface that nearly all the comedians in Nigeria have thrown nasty jibes at yet he never took any of it seriously! As far as I'm concerned Helen didn't say anything out of line and she was yabbing the comedians themselves never reffered to their family/loved ones but Gordons took it too personal and crossed the line by bringing her husband into the jabs!
Same Gordons that yabbed the hell out of Linda Ikeji! Gordons is childish he was even insulting/cursing not yabbing!

Lovely thread! I grew up a very outspoken and determined kid! Was born with a golden spoon but things went South when Dad delved into politics undecided it got so bad we had to move to the village as we couldn't pay rent.
In the village, grandma was responsible for our upkeep 7 of us while mom was in faraway town for studies. Grandma would request that we'd all go to farm but somehow I would sneak away and head home to face my studies(i was a book worm angry) . On one faithful day, grandma discovered my absence from the farm and my punishment was bits and pieces of newspaper on my plate as dinner shocked
Hunger twisted my intestines that night, however at midnight she sneaked food to me without my other siblings finding out and this was after she whipped up a storm on how stubborn I was for not farming with others. Same grandma whispered to me that night and said“ nwa'm ego adigi n'okpukpu aka” meaning my daughter there's no wealth in the strength of the arm/hands. From that day, I got permission to be staying back home to cook/clean and ofcourse study while the others enjoy their farming.
Today that little girl is a top executive in an MNC! Love u grandma the proverb ever stuck and I will bendover backwards to give you the world. Unfortunately she's old and frail now with slight indications of dementia sighss...

And what I did was so terrible that it cannot be forgiven? At least I came back inspite of everything. What about all I suffered in the hands of the mother just because I was trying to do the right thing, to which she was a witness?

I've come to realise that men and women think differently. So while a man might express horror and disbelief that I actually stayed and endured all that, a woman would insist that I should have stayed and tried harder. In the other thread there were some comments tearing me up and insisting I go back to that job. That I am wasting a golden opportunity.

Tell me honestly, would you have advised your brother to do the same?
I also remember you said you stayed with her throughout the 8months till when her mom started becoming unbearable right?

Thanks bro. I don't even want to worry about my son for now. Just want to focus on myself as an individual. In time he will come to know the truth. If not, too bad. But right now I do not even want to be around any of them at all or anymore sef. Enough is enough. The girl is slowly turning into her mother without even recognizing it.

I also do not feel guilty anymore and that's a good thing. I actually feel exonerated. And the love matter is not a problem for me, just that I intend to give women in general a wide be
rth from now on. Thanks once again.
Posterity will judge you fairly! But please keep sending upkeep for your baby if possible monetise it and pay into your baby mamas account. On the issue of marriage I do not think marrying cos a child is involved is a good reason moreson when the individual concerned has some major question marks! This is one problem my elder bro is dealing with as in his own case he wasn't force but got a girl preggy, married out of pity now realises he doesn't love her after 2kids! I've begged, cajoled, pleaded with him to no avail as he said he overlooked certain major family values the wife lack and has refused to learn...d matter tire me...
I wish you the best and may you excel in life even beyond your own imagination. Keep those phone/email convos you've had with your baby mama as I believe they will come handy one day!

Hmmm great thread.
I had just a brother while growing up. Mom always bought seperate plates spoons and cups for us. Pink and blue mostly. Me pink him blue. So we were used to eating separately. Fast forward to when we were 7 and 5 mom went to her friends house and saw her 5kids eating and drinking together from one plate. She loved it and wanted to make us start eating together. On that fateful afternoon she just finished making my hair and served us lunch of garri and soup in one plate. She left but our screams brought
her back shortly, low and behold the lunch had turned into war and my beautiful hair was plastered with garri and soup. Need i say that was the last day she tried to make us eat togetherhuh
When we were younger like 4 and 6 i was always looking for my brothers trouble. Being the older one i was always always beating and pinching him. Until one day he had enough and gave me a blow that loosend one tooth that was already shaking for me. I went to our parents screaming with a mouthful of blood. My dad sent him out of the house that nite for doing that. He was just at the corridor that lead to the kitchen the door was open but he was too scared to enter. I was on the dining window looking at him and laughing while he started a song..... Mummy na daddy unu osim bata *mummy and daddy should i come in?* and i would scream NO!!!! Mumsie went and brought him in secretly though. Hahahaha oh boy growing up was fun jare.
Love you mom u too dad *even though u f'd up big time later. Still love u
Love your story and kinda brought tears to my eyes with your bro's song hehehehe
FamilyRe: How Much Should I Give Her For Monthly Upkeep by subzidi: 1:26am On May 10, 2015
@ OP I feel 100k per month for such a small family is too much for feeding+madams personal expense if that's what the money is for. I feel you might even be living in a tenanted apartment? You need to draw up a family project plan etc acquisition of your own landed property if you've got none etc Anything can happen at anytime in my view housing ranks 1 on hierarchy of needs. Lovingly have a warm discussion with wify about the need to save for rainy day if possible cook up a story on how shaky your job is if that would make her see reasons to be more frugal. I don't really believe in upping my spending substantially just because earning has increased instead I'd rather live same way I was when I was earning my smaller pay and find ways to invest the new extra! I find it quite inconsiderate for one to be burning fuel watching telemudo/africa magic when such time can be utilised for more meaningful activities. This is where you need to be firm, generator should only run from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Maybe your wife needs to get a job to also pull in her weight as the more you bear these costs resentment might creep in gradually.
Being economical is a virtue everyone should learn, for food items bulk buying and cooking is the surest way to save. Food items which include rice, beans, stew, soups, yam, plantain, provision not more than 50k, madams hair(10k_there are cheaper salons/wig wearing saves tonnes of cash too). Also she should eschew keeping up with the Jones attitude if she's got one as this is one the attribute that keeps people in perpetual misery!
I remember when we started my hubby and I were not earning much but we had a goal to build our house within 4 years of marriage we were able to do that in 2years now unto our 2nd property. We cut off irrelevances starting with budget wedding, no honeymoon,no holiday abroad, bulk cooking and carried food from home to work, managed 1 small fuel efficient car, avoided aswebi like a plague, more wig wearing less salon visit, got a washing machine instead of drycleaning, did not encourage plenty visits by family+friends spending increases hosting & trying to make them comfortable, utilized electric in cooking when there's light in order to save cooking gas etc these and many more were part of the steps we took! Even today that our earnings have almost quadrippled we still maintain a modest spending though not as frugal but I can say the early strategy we started with has helped us alot.
With children it might be a little different though as we are yet to have ours but I believe if you work together with wify you 2 should be able to identify where you're having leakages and mend it unless she's against it or spend rift.
Her background might also be a factor, if so you still need to have that warm discussion and do not come off as rubbing it IN that you are the sole provider. Make her see the long term goal as being for the good and better life for the family if you deny yourselves certain things now to enjoy later.
I wish you the best!
FamilyRe: Before And After Marriage by subzidi: 12:39am On May 10, 2015
May God heal all marriages that are strained and give people the virtue to discover what marriage truly is in the eyes of God!
I can boldly say my marriage is heaven on earth not because we re perfect but because we look beyond our imperfections and focus on what counts!
We re not ashamed to make mistakes and say I'm sorry! We re not afraid to share our vulnerability! We re not proud to leverage each persons strength! Our family slogan...one team+one mission. He understands when I'm not in the mood to make love, I sacrifice when he pokes me atimes in the middle of the night to get it! The day I don't have energy to cook he doesn't mind drinking garri happily to go to bed! He annoys me sometimes and I drive him nuts too lol mostly intentional in a playful way. Life shouldn't be hard, should rather be sweeter in marriage. We play hard too sometimes like tenagers! Hubby plays ten+ten, sandalily etc etc with me YES! I treat him like myking and he treats me like his Queen! I want to encourage any young girl reading this thread not to be discouraged by the many scary stories on this forum regarding marriage! Ask God to give you wisdom to know the right intrinsic qualities to look for and the ability to decipher when you meet the one! God bless our homes.
BTW I slept 2 hours in the afternoon and can't get immediate sleep just admiring hubby's sleepy innocent face and wanna kiss him right now lol he will wake up and might lead to something I no get power for hahahaha

Poster I think you have come of age and no one has the right to chose a life partner for you! Are you still being catered for by your mum? If so pls get a job, I've discovered this the major bargaining chip most African parents use against their children in order to tilt argument their way! I started working and engaging in commercial activities by the age of 16yrs selling puf and akara cos one day mummy refused to give me money for an important item to me then based on that I made a vow not to be at anyone's mercy but God!
This independent attitude was carried into my adult life and I can tell you I'm better for it! Please be independent even if marry a billionaire today a word is enough! I grew up in the east by the way, Owerri precisely!
