Is population the cause of poverty?
Yes! High population is one of the major causes of poverty. Especially when not properly managed.

Misplaced priority is china and the u.s whose population is far bigger than ours but are living way better than us.
Don't just try to blame poverty on population because it is null and void from the onset.
Now that we have started this comparison again to our local problem let me help you.

China has a 1 child policy for many decades.
US and other western words are dealing with dwindling population, the new generation in those countries are not having kids anymore, they are embracing lgbtq+ hence, child birth in those places are not the same as compared to 50yrs ago.

If we must discuss Naija problem, let’s think of a local solution. If we just compare at all, then use Indian whos in similar situation as ours. Not always the US and any big country.

Stop sounding this way to remain correct.

You have conceded that Yoruba does not use "gidigbo" to fight to death, rather it is for pleasure.

Thats the crux of our discourse. Case closed
Concede? Again, go read what I typed again. I never agreed with your distortion of our history.

And no, it wasn’t the crux of the discourse, you ignored other facts you were wrong about 😊

Whatever makes you feel good bro, Peace ✌🏾

So you agreed that you misrepresented the bolded in your previous post.

Cite and example where warriors were asked to fight to death in Yoruba history. I will be willing to learn from you.

Why would a movie like Jagunjagun not show the art of war, especially how Ogundiji consults his gods? It's a critical part. Did Ogunjimi lead a war as a general in the movie?

Painting Ogundiji as a bad person after being shown to rescue a king at the beginning didn't add up. They should have dug deep to come up with a fantastic reason .

"Atamo atamo" ni in Yoruba Language.
Again, you are picking one phrase out of many sentences, very funny.

Gidigbo is a sport, a war skill, and also entertainment. So is Judo, Karate, and jui jistu.

When you have time, here is a free read for you about Gidigbo, the Yoruba martial art.

This article speaks to its entertaining, cultural, and even its arena display, and its war usage.

In Yoruba culture, are you saying they fight to death at the bolded - "Idije Kidigbo"

What you referred to was just a local wrestling competition for the pleasure of the people.

Romans fight to death at the arena.

Don't mix it up, sir
Okay, I called out many of your wrong assumptions up there.

For the gidigbo, yes it is for pleasure. And in special times like they portrayed in that movies, warriors could be ask to fight to death and the winner gets a reward. Also, in war times… digigbo is a war skill.. just like Judo and jui jistu are war skills they are also games.

Karate is a war skill and also a game. Being a competition don’t mean it’s exclusively competitive.

In the movie, they even portrayed the use of jazz to support his skills. The warriors had stuff tied to their arms to give them extra strength.

Lets me mash up our own story.
TV/MoviesRe: Jagun Jagun: Femi Adebayo's Movie Gets Tongues Wagging by sunboy(m): 3:20pm On Aug 12, 2023
MT:
Oga, Yorubas dont fight like Romans. That movie is a roman empire classic movie.

In the olden days, we read it that the two commanders will face themselves and chant incantations till one commander overwhelms the other. Then fight will ensue.

Yorubas will also invoke the spirit of their gods like ogun, IFA etc. before going into a war. In a movie titled Jagunjagun, show me one scene where this is done

Only Romans go to war with swords alone without charms.

The film misrepresents Yoruba culture so badly. Go and watch the "woman king" on netflix - it was a failed attempt to replicate it.
Again, woman king story is not accurate. It is very wrong. Ask an indigene of Abomey, they will tell you the story was messed up.

If you ask but they use Benin folks, Angelique kidjo is not from the Abomey tribe. Let’s know our history abeg and not wait for the foreigners to fine tune it for us.

Yes woman king was a great movie but the story line is wrong.

You don't need to say "lie here and there". It was my experience, respect it. Just like I respect yours.

It is an open fact that in the olden days Yoruba warriors chanted incantations in wars. Not fighting like Romans with swords.

Yorubas wouldn't just go to war without consulting their gods.

Yourbas didnt have arena like Spartacus where they fight.

Go and watch "the woman king" - they tried to copy that movie and it turned bad.

Viewers will get carried away with the wacky storyline because of the visual effect. It's not a well thought out my movie.

That's my experience. You have yours and I respect it.

As for me, Anikulapo remains far Number 1
While I respect your opinion but you’re wrong, know your history sir!

Yes Yoruba use ida oloju meji (sword) and knife since before the white man.

Going to the war and consulting gods is a must, but that movie hasn’t portrayed otherwise to that fact. Not showing the part doesn’t mean they portrayed it never happened nor happened.

Yoruba does have arena like Spartacus for warriors, even slaves if the king to compete during a ceremony… it’s called idije kidigbo

“The woman king” actually changed the actual story and the real narrative. I have personally been to that kings palace for tourism and other kings, visit Abomey sometime, there are about 16 kings palaces scattered around the city, you will get the authentic story from the tour guides or the locals. (You don’t glorify an oyinbo movie that changed our story and bring down our very own that portrayed it right!)

What we do not have are Dane guns… and that movie also portrayed in it that it was gifts from the white man. It clearly portrayed it in that movie.

Again, I respect your opinion but we must speak up for when our history is mashed up. That jagun jagun is very authentic. Well thought through movie.

Nigeria is not going to any war. Tinubu needed to send that request to senate and they agreed that they reject the request so the US and France and say, he tries but his Senate shut him down.

Tinubu will find other means but not by war. A war in Niger is a war in Northern Nigeria… we share a very large border.

PoliticsRe: ECOWAS Fails To Deploy As 7days Ultimatum Expires. by sunboy(m): 5:18am On Aug 06, 2023
Nigeria cannot afford to go to war right now unless we are being attacked.

Tinubu is busy undoing Buhari’s mess, he won’t be stupid enough to waste the little savings of subsidy on an avoidable war.

Tinubu is asking for senate support for war just to show to the world that we are taking actions.

A war in Niger means the Northern Nigeria will see worse than Boko Haram… remember that Nigeriens live in Northern nigeria and they even indigenous people that got separated by the colonists, bottom line most Hausa/ Fulani soldiers won’t be motivated to fight their family in Niger.

Tinubu will find a non-force ways to resolve it. In the interest of the rest of Africa and the hardship going on around the world, the one-too-many coup in Niger, Mali and Burkina could turn to a bush wagon effect where other country militaries take power too (Nigeria inclusive)

Bottomline, there will be no war.

1stGenAmerican:
In Arizona, you don’t need a license to braid hair. Arizona has a good amount of Black Americans and in most of the states, hair braiding runs from $50 all the way up to $300. You can do really good braiding hair in Arizona. In South Dakota, you need a cosmetology license to braid hair but there aren’t many Black people so business wouldn’t be as good as Arizona.
You can get many clients on campus in Arizona. If you’re good, your customers like you, and you’re available regularly on weekends, they’ll comeback to you over and over because dependable braiders are hard to find.
Just to correct that notion about Arizona. Yes you do need license but yes you can work your braiding and run cash business nobody’s chasing you so OP should be fine.

Majority of blacks in Arizona are concentrated in Maricopa county (ie Phoenix and its suburbs), Flagstaff is a touristy and college town, the black population is a handful. I’m assuming his/her campus will be in Flagstaff.

Flagstaff is good, chill and you’d enjoy it out there, and it snows like crazy just any other cold state. But the black population is only a handful unfortunately… you will probably meet some on the campus and don’t sleep on getting white client too if you choose NAU.

Good luck to the OP
