Subsidywise20: Tinubu is who he claims to be
Having said that, we should not vote for him because
1. He was not that spectacular as Lagos governor...his successor did better than him
2. He is the candidate of APC....a party that has failed over the last 7 years in running this country effectively. I’m not a fan of Tinubu but he the biggest contributor to the modern Lagos we see now. Successors you talk about only follow through on his plans. And that, if we don’t do party politics in Nigeria, a lot of things would have been in place. But the idea of pdp started this project, apc need to start its own from scratch is one of our problems, lack of continuity, and that’s what Lagos had been lucky to enjoy since Tinubu. |

1stGenAmerican: I’ve never worked for Amazon and I haven’t earned $15/hour since I was an undergraduate but hourly wages have nothing to do with the question I posed about remittances.
Every story Nigerians tell about people abroad involves struggle, living in poverty, and barely surviving therefore I asked how Nigerians in the diaspora manage to remit $19.2 billion per year if they are all struggling to survive another day as Nigerians say they are. Well I personally don’t know anyone who’s struggling to live. You don’t save a lot of money maybe yes, but struggle to survive not really. |

If Nigerians abroad are struggling and living in miserable, poverty stricken conditions then how is such a large sum of money being sent home to their families while the people sending still manage to survive and send? You’re using minimum wage as a reference yet you are using a general statistics of money remittances smh Abeg you get statistics for people who make $15/hr at amazon and how much they remit ? |

SeaTrade: A year or 2? Which kind play be this? You'll burn better 7-10 years to catch up,no jokes. Have you also thought of what he or she could have done in Nigeria in that 10 years growth wise? If you're young 18-24 without anything substantial or a clear cut achievable vision, you can move. But anything above that is most likely setting oneself up for a lifetime of "averageness". No be beans to leave third world country to go and be exceptional in the most capitalist nation in the world. It happens on very RARE occasions. Let’s say he’s super smart and have good connect, he will still burn Atleast 2-3yrs lol and remember studying in the Uk is not automatic residency o, unlike Canada that have a straight path to residency. |

1stGenAmerican: People earning minimum wage usually qualify for subsidized childcare. Public schools are free. What I posted was minimum, most people are doing much better than that. I don’t know anybody living the hard lives that Nigerians constantly talk about on here.
If your living expenses are so high why don’t you move back to Nigeria? Haha subsidized childcare you said? You know how long it takes to get those benefits? What state are you in Abeg? Public school is free from 4-5yrs depending on state, between age 1-5, when mummy and daddy needs to work where do you put the kid? Day care cost average of 600-1000/monthly. Nobody’s complaining about their living expenses being too high or low… I’m just saying calculating income before taxes don’t work in real terms and they don’t compare at all to a place like Nigeria where most taxes and bills are non existent. |

1stGenAmerican: You’re right about that. The myth of working 2-3 jobs like a dog is just a lie people tell unless someone is in either country illegally. Example: Amazon in the UK and US will hire just about anyone over age 18 who is in the country legally.
Here in the US, Amazon’s minimum wage is $15 per hour, even for people working from home and it’s $10-11.76 per hour in the UK. A couple without any higher education in the US legally who are authorized to work can stay home and each work 40 hours a week for Amazon (overtime is optional and sometimes unlimited). So without working any overtime:
USA $15/hr x 40 hours/week= $600 x 2= $1,200/ week $1,200/week x 52 weeks/year= $62,400 annually in the household
UK $10/hr x 40/wk= $400 x 2= $800/wk $800/wk x 52 weeks/yr= $41,600 annually in the household
USA Overtime = 1.5 of hourly salary Amazon Overtime for a Minimum Wage Worker in the US is $22.50 per hour
UK Amazon Overtime for the lowest paid worker is $15/hour I legit don’t like these calculations they don’t work and don’t compare well, especially that this is before tax and bills. You have not factor in taxes, child care, if they nothing working they definitely might need a day care before their baby clock 5, car insurance ? Health insurance ? These bills a very minimal in Nigeria, my friends in Nigeria pay full coverage for a year what I pay in a month. They don’t need to pay $600/month of day care, nor pay $150 monthly on care insurance, nor do they have to pay taxes per se in Nigeria, it’s very minimal. UK healthcare is cheaper than we have in the US too… these calculations don’t really work in reality |

SUFFERInSMILIIN: English might not be my first language it is my 3th and I do not say i am perfect in it. I am talking about economical performance you cannot talk about GDP because most projects in Nigeria are grossly inflated so the GDP is grossly inflated also there is a lot of debt in Nigeria which makes the GDP irrelevant. When we talk about investment and economical performance Nigeria is 17 in Africa. Please take a trip to be near Republic Togo Ghana and Ivory Coast including Cameroon see the amount of Nigerian refugees in those countries go to Kenya and South Africa 90% of Nigerians are illegal refugees Keep on deceiving yourself about the GDP suffering and smiling. You cannot take Nigeria's government statistics because the statistics are in the president's office not statistics department Lol again look back to your post, English might be my 10th language but I sure understand how economy statistics work you obviously don’t seem to understand it but calling another person an illiterate. Nigeria’s economy is still the largest in Africa. Being 17th performer don’t mean it’s not bigger than no1 performer. Also, performing economy doesn’t a country is bigger or small, it just talking about performance. Developing countries have always surpassed even some developed countries in performance and that doesn’t makes it a bigger economy. Speaking of neighboring countries, i lives in those countries you mentioned and Nigerians in Benin, Togo and Ghana are living the middle class standard lol again, you’re wrong about that. We take money to their country to help develop their countries through trade. I had a registered business in those 3 countries and I know what I’m talking about. |

Do not forget Nigeria is in haunted billion US dollar debt Wow! Don’t you see that you’re the original illiterate? Per capital calculations means Nigeria is the 17th economy in Africa? Really? Go back to school sir. That’s all. India gdp per capital = 1,900 Nigeria gdp per capital = 2,200 Does that means that Nigeria is bigger than India’s economy? You refuse to go to school |

Ignorance on OPs side. Suleja/Minna area get upto 120 f of heat, not to even mention Maiduguri or Sokoto. What about Northern Africa and Middle East. Europe is very much affected cos their houses are not designed for heat. Many houses don’t even have AC. Same heat affected Washington state recently and I got to know that most houses don’t even come with AC, just heaters cos it hardly get hot to that extend. Whereas down South West US most houses are designed and equipped to survive heat and cold but not snow for the most part. |

Kewtt: In August 1981, the first "laser plane" A-60, which was designed on the basis of IL-76, soared into the Soviet sky. In the nose part of the model a special fairing with a laser targeting system was installed, along the sides of the fuselage there were turbogenerators, and at the top of the case were opened the doors, from which a laser cannon was advanced. The US navy have had this type of installation this same time of the year, that’s no big deal. This is exactly what Isreal tested in a much smaller plane. The US is testing a POD mounted to a plane NOW. What’s you people’s probably with no giving credit to who deserves it. Russia remains the first country to deploy its laser weapon in war to blind satellites (Ukraine 2022) also first to PUBLICLY test its laser 1984 or so and the US promptly made its own public in the early 1991 or so, nobody argued that. It’s the US time, stop trying to change facts bro. |
