Results from Sun city, Abuja high brow area have president Goodluck Jonathan with 80 votes while Buhari has 75.
Sun city is Jonathan’s strongest hold. Previous electuons in 2011 had Jonathan with a 200:40 margin in the same Sun city.
Government agents like DSS spokeswoman Marilyn Ogat live there. The result is a positive indication for the opposition.
Meanwhile INEC has extend elections in areas across the nation.

CareerThe Word For Today: “look For The Best In The Worst”, by Sunky200(op): 10:30am On Mar 07, 2015
ENCOURAGEMENT: Look for the Best

When Thomas Carlyle completed his manuscript on the French Revolution, he asked his neighbour John Stuart Mill to read it. Later, Mill came to Carlyle’ lipsrsealed :Ps house, shaken and pale. His maid had inadvertently used it to light the fire! Carlyle despaired – two years lost! Writing it initially was daunting enough; rewriting it was unthinkable. Then one day, watching a stonemason build a wall, he observed it was going up huh
one brick at a time. Inspired, he thought, ‘I’ll write a page today and one tomorrow. One at a time; that’s all I’ll think about.’ It was slow, tedious work, but he persevered and the result outshone his original.

Jon Gordon writes, ‘If you’re concerned about the future… I know how you feel. I lost my job in 2001… the company sank faster than the Titanic…. I thought it was the worst event of my life. I was two months away from bankruptcy. I’d a wife, two children, a mortgage, no health insurance and very little savings. I was a payslip away from losing it all and … I had to make some important decisions. Eventually they led to the work I now do as a writer, consultant and speaker. I went from Fired to Fired-up! My lay-off led to my life’s mission….what I thought was the worst… led to the best… When the wave hits we have a choice…. Allow it to crush us, or learn from it and ride it to a positive future. We can move forward with determination and faith that our best days are ahead.’

Rejoice. Refocus. God can turn the curse into a blessing.

PoliticsPresident Goodluck Jonathan: Nearing The End Of The Road? By Frisky Larr by Sunky200(op): 3:08pm On Feb 23, 2015
It does not take rocket science to see through the cheerful and confident mask of President Goodluck Jonathan these days. A mask that obviously conceals
deep worries and uncertainties with smiles and cheers on the façade! After all, the President and his handlers did not bargain for the tight corner in which they now find themselves. There is no doubt that they did their homework scrupulously and assiduously.

They had good four years at their disposal to prepare themselves for the present doomsday scenario.

In other words, four years of President Jonathan’s government was spent on the priority issue of securing a second term in the Presidency. For this purpose, no stone was left unturned.
No government work was more important. “Good” friends were lost and “hungry” friends were found all along the way.
Foot soldiers were employed. Attack dogs too.
Nothing was left to chance. “Simlins” were created and friendly voices bought all over the network scene on social media. Readers’ comment forums of online newspapers were well manned to prepare grassroots support for 2015.

Yet they missed out on several key and crucial issues. Aside governance and achievements that would have done the trick singlehandedly, they counted too strongly on securing a power base with powerbrokers who are masters of the game of treachery and deception. With the regional influence of the “local champion” Mr. Edwin Clark, they sought to secure the home front and seemed to have done that with some degrees of success. Even though I have no evidence to back up this claim, something strongly tells me that they relied too strongly, on former military dictator Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida to secure the national front as a counter
weight to General Olusegun Obasanjo, who they had chased out of their camp with jeers and boos against all wisdom.

After unwittingly compelling the realignment of political forces, they needed a military wing in the creeks that must be robustly fed with weapons hoping that the North would decimate and weaken itself with the bloody onslaught of the self-inflicted Boko Haram.
The Nigerian military that the traditional establishment would have used against theif things got out of control, was secured in the hands of kinsmen and loyal surrogates in what now looks like a deliberate move to systematically weaken the military. They left nothing to chance. The President declared his candidacy very late and he could not be
crucified too brutally in advance. The militants made potent threats in advance and we knew they meant business. Hints wereeven deliberately made in public, of the typeof weapons at the disposal of the militants and we now know that they have warships.

They left no stone unturned. They anticipated the emergence of retired Major-General Muhammadu Buhari as the presidential candidate of the opposition even though they secretly wished for Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso or Aminu Tambuwal. They were prepared for Buhari. The all-out assault that they skillfully and very effectively launched on
Muhammadu Buhari would have ended up a huge success if Nigerians were not simply fed up with Jonathan’s regime of aggravated larceny and dishonesty.

First, the cloak of th Muslim fundamentalist that would lock his wife in purdah and proceed on the campaign trail with the shine of his masculine charm
did not fit Buhari. His wife surfaced and is now known to not only be very good lookingbut also far beyond the market class of those who know that “there is God”.

Then they produced a medical certificate claiming that Muhammadu Buhari was terminally crumbling under the yoke of prostate cancer. The document was finally declared fake. A simple misstep and loss of balance on a campaign podium was suddenly
reported in headline news as Muhammadu Buhari crumbling and collapsing before the gaze of the public due to ill health informedby old age. This too was discredited by footages from the campaign scene.

Then every other ace up their sleeve was staked on one single issue left: The former Major-General’s
secondary school leaving certificate and his
declarations in this regard. In the end, we realized that President Jonathan did not even complete the doctorate degree program, for which the nation has known and addressed him as “Dr.” Goodluck Jonathan since 1999.

They left just nothing to chance. The campaign of mudslinging and dirty tricks was quite masterfully prosecuted. They released another masterpiece. It took the eye of a professional to recognize professionals at work in the making of the documentary “The Real Buhari”.
But the facts did not fit. The bunch of very obvious lies and smears inherent in the clip simply ended up making mockery of a clip that was ordinarily very professionally compiled with effects and style. They could not but end up in frustration. Rather than
killing and burying Buhari’s political ambitions, all the aggressive moves of the President’s men did not only fuel their ownfrustration but increasingly betrayed their image of the desperate runaways fighting a mysterious battle for their own survival. It is mysterious because it now makes Buhari look
like the incumbent President seeking to be dislodged by a desperate challenger.

Today, we know that President Jonathan is not alone in this ominous struggle to retain the Presidency at all costs. In fact, in his own admission, the campaign dynamics has been let loose on his managers and co-travelers in the journey of theft and brigandage such that Mr. Jonathan himself is not always aware of
decisions taken on individual moves each step of the way.

Yet it is unbelievable that the President was not aware of plans to force the postponement of the Presidential election that was slated for February 14, 2015. Everyone heard it from Lagos to London. Even the booze-man elder Edwin Clark openly called for the sack and prosecution of Atahiru Jega and we all know who that is.

It is not so much the trust in the honesty of
Muhammadu Buhari and the modesty of his character that drives his acceptance throughout the nation today. After all there are very many serious and credible issues that people also have with the General and he has rightly explained many of such issues as fallouts from governance under the banner of unassailable military formations. It is very
much the rejection of Jonathan’s inept five years of dishonesty, corruption an unimaginable spookiness that has translated into the massive boost of Buhari’s prospects today.

Moreover, the Jonathan’s camp wantonly underrated the role of the international community and those internal forces who wield immense influences abroad than at home. This in spite of the immense resources they invested in high-end expertise to configure and knit an effective smear
campaign.

Today, the weight of international diplomatic pressure has been brought to bear on Jonathan like he has never before known in his years on the frontline of domestic politics.
The first hint was seen in his latest media chat in his answer to the question, if the election will truly hold on March 28, 2015. Even though the questioner did not mention any word about the international community, the President’s answer was a clear reflection of his characteristic confusion and the pressure that has been brought to bear on him by
international forces. In his answer, he ended up expressing understanding for the international community who is used toAfrican leaders, who are reluctant to give up power. He proudly added that he would be the first African leader to give up power if he loses the election forgetting that Ghana had
performed this feat just as recently as 2008.

The President may have realized the painful attacks that one may suffer after breaking a promise to an American Secretary of State within 10 days that elections will not be postponed.
Now the President’s camp is witnessing its first crack with considerations being insinuated, of the replacement of Mr. Jonathan as the presidential candidate of the ruling party. These are all evidences that the ruling party has been completely taken
unaware by several developments that it did not bargain for and these developments are not all happening within the domestic front alone. After all, whoever arms militants in preparation for the eventual partitioning of the country will hardly give a damn about dire consequences and all other impacts in the domestic scene. Such a person is most likely impressed by the foreseeable prospect of
outright defeat informed by a chain of events as highlighted in my last article positing that any civil war that is unwittingly provoked by President Jonathan will be decided by international alliances.

PoliticsBrief History Of Corruption In Nigeria by Sunky200(op): 10:58am On Feb 22, 2015
1. 1960 - 1966: Sir Abubakar Tafawa - Balewa's tenure - no public funds stolen

2. 1966: Major - General Aguiyi Ironsi's. brief tenure - no public funds stolen

3. 1966 - 1975: General Yakubu Gowon's tenure -
very little corruption creeping in

4. 1975 - 1976: General Murtala Ramat Muhammed's tenure - zero tolerance for corruption and indiscipline

5. 1976 - 1979: General Olusegun Aremu Matthew Okikiola Obasanjo's tenure - rulers started owning large properties running into millions of dollars

6. 1979 - 1983: President Shehu Shagari's tenure -
characterised by weak leadership. Ministers and other top functionaries had a field day looting all the lootable public funds and properties even though the President himself was not stealing any dime!

7. 1984 - 1985: Major - General Muhammadu Buhari's tenure - zero tolerance for corruption, indolence and indiscipline. Corrupt politicians were jailed a minimum of 100 years in prison each!

8. 1985 - 1993: General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida's tenure - freed all the corrupt politicians jailed by General Buhari. These same freed politicians aremajorly the same set of politicians .ruining Nigeria now. During Babangida's tenure public funds were being carted away by public servants like confetti. In one fell swoop, about 12 billion dollars mysteriously vanished!

9. 1993 - 1998: General Sani Abacha's tenure - five billion dollars and more stolen in his five years tenure

10. 1998 - 1999: General Abdulsalami Abubakar's 11 months tenure - About 2 billion dollars were alleged to have been stolen.
Anyway the man is among the wealthiest people
in the country today!

11. 1999 - 2007: President Olusegun Matthew Aremu Okikiola Obasanjo's second tenure - His bank account grew from twenty thousand naira after emerging from prison to being a multi-billionaire with choice properties in Nigeria and major cities of the world. Public infrastructure declined massively and gangsterism became the order of the day by his
party, the PDP. Corruption prospered massively in his tenure! In one fell swoop, 16 billion dollars just vanished, allegedly for electric power projects but darkness was supplied and is still being supplied in large quantity! In another mysterious disappearance the sum of 300 billion naira (2 billion dollars) meant for road projects also vanished into thin air!

12. 2007 - 2010: Late President Yar'adua's tenure -
A quiet reserved and the messiah that did not live long to be! The noiseless tenure. But due to perpetual ill-health was unable to tame corruption which is the character and perfume of his party men and women in the PDP. Had a slightly large family but he never allowed public funds to be spent on feeding the first family!

13. 2010 - Present: President Nnamdi Azikiwe Ebele Goodluck Jonathan's tenure - Full of noise but empty of substance. Spends about a billion naira per year for food for himself, wife and two kids. In the 2011 election year about 2.6 trillion naira just disappeared
from the public till, which is the highest disappearance of public funds per year in the
country's history! Intolerant of criticisms. Suffers acute inferiority complex and seems to dislike any war against corruption. A former Education Minister and Vice President of the World Bank, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili accused his government and that of his immediate predecessor of not accounting for about 67 billion dollars! Since then his government has
been responding in the manner of a headless chicken. They are busy insulting the woman instead of stating in facts and figures what they did with the money. In fact, the SUNDAY PUNCH newspaper of 25/11/2012 pointedly said about 31 billion dollars were stolen since his government came to being on May 6, 2010. And there's more, but his government looks; promising to hold the medal for the most
corrupt in the world! And the beats go on!!

"Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies." —Groucho Marx

"Politics, noun: A strife of interests masquerading as a contest of principles. The conduct of public affairs for private advantage." —Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's
Dictionary

The insanity is palpable the moment you step out of the airports, be it Abuja or Lagos or Port Harcourt. It smacks you right in the face, oppressive and dominating, even causing fear because you don’t know when it will explode into violence.
Even if you are apolitical and neutral, you have that feeling that it is better not to utter a sound in favour of any political party or candidate.
Because the airports are owned by the Federal
Government, the likelihood is that you will only see political campaign posters and other adverts of the incumbent president, and none of the opposition.

This intolerance is of course replicated in the states, irrespective of the ruling party. The states are even worse; some governors either subtly or openly direct their state-owned radio and television stations not to
accept or broadcast or publish opposition campaign adverts and jingles.
So, on my way to the city of Lagos from Muritala Mohammed Airport, I noticed that many BRT buses (owned by the Lagos State Government) had Akinwunmi Ambode's (the ruling APC gubernatorial candidate) campaign posters. I did not see any for Jimi Agbaje of thePDP and others, (I will admit I don’t know of any) of the other political parties contesting for governorship of Lagos State. I asked myself if
Jimi Agbaje and the other contestants didn't
approach the Management of BRT to pay for and
use the buses to also run their campaigns. Were
they refused? If they were, does that not show that the Government of Lagos State, which the BRT officials represent, is intolerant, undemocratic and partial and is not providing a level playing field for all, and deliberately contravening the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? Did the Government of
Lagos State buy those buses with the funds of Lagos State (irrespective of political affiliation or sympathy) or the funds of the APC?

I later read that Jimi Agbaje alleged that his posters (that a private advertising agency placed on poles on the Highways and bridges built by the Federal Government were pulled down by Lagos State Signage Agency and that that all attempts to get the permits to place these posters were rebuffed! The Agency has not denied this story. Politics of bitterness!

Again this is replicated in all the states of the Federation.

It is the season of insanity and insensitivity,
selfishness and greed. In most states of the Federation, the civil servants have not been paid salaries, some for up to six months. Yet, there is billions of Naira being spent by politicians and governors seeking second terms, or departing ones seeking to install their proxies. Can we relate to this? And yet, the unpaid civil servants and teachers, who have their own financial needs to take care of their
families, have not taken to the streets, but are
instead praying hard for a better governor or better Nigeria, without wanting to lift a finger.
And worse, helping the politicians to steal or misuse their own salaries. Insane!!

Perhaps I am wrong. Perhaps they are just being
patient (as we always do) and hoping to exercise
their voting rights and seek revenge on the
governors who are not paying their salaries but are using state funds to fund their political campaigns.

Let us be clear here! There is hardly any second-term seeking governor, senator, member of the house (federal or state) that is using his/her own money or even donations from the public to fund their election or re-election campaigns. They are using state funds. This is not new to Nigeria, but all these decades we just conveniently ignore this callousness and a rape of the law. And with a depraved and lawless society as ours, the politicians readily take
advantage and empty the treasury to fight elections.

That is another instance of the insanity of our seasons of politics.
Of course, we have passed the crazy height of the carpet-crossing and defection from one party to the other, every politician, small or great, unknown and known, seeking to be relevant, seeking to have a foothold on power and unwilling to be swept away from the chance of partaking in the looting of the treasury.

Politicians all over the world are certified insane, but Nigerian politicians are even more insane, and this should be of concern to us, because they are more dangerous, murderous and absurd than their counterparts’ elsewhere.
They are simply there for the money and power.
Nothing else! And they do not care how they get
there; how many dead bodies are left in their wake; how many lives they ruin on their way up; how many lies they tell to the people; how many unfulfillable promises they make; how they tread on the Constitution, etc. They do not give a damn, and this is what makes them dangerous and toxic to our health and welfare and well-being.

One should hear them on TV and Radio. A police
minister was shouting himself hoarse, full of righteous indignation and piety, and could not
disguise his hatred for the opposition presidential candidate; and one irresponsible governor wishing the opposition presidential candidate dead. Even people in opposing political camps are wishing one another dead and all sorts of evil to fall upon their “enemies”.
All in the name of the Nigerian brand of politics.

It is the madding crowd (after “Far From The Madding Crowd” by Thomas Hardy),

unfortunately, it is very hard for the public to put a distance between these mad politicians and us. They are with us everywhere, inside our houses and bedrooms.
Posters and fliers and billboards everywhere; some obscuring traffic! You wonder how these people get the money to do these political adverts, while the public go hungry and desolate. Again, thousands, if not millions of unemployed youth ambling all over the country, desperate and ignored.

Man’s inhumanity and insensitivity to man, that’s what I call it.

For over six months, all over the Federation,
government and governance has ceased, federal
and state. They have shut down. Maybe that’s the rationale for not paying the civil servants; after all they are not doing anything in the ministries and government departments and agencies. Virtually a shutdown of government!
The governors looking for re-election do not even bother to call weekly Exco meetings. How could they, when they are on the campaign trail, distributing money, wasting resources?
Out-going, non-returning governors are even worse – they are busy mopping up the treasury and setting a cover-up in place to hide their evil deeds.

Politics in Nigeria often bring out the worst and the primordial in us. The people are intolerant of each other’s political convictions for one reason or the other – tribal, religious, self- interest and selfishness. If you are making money or deriving some favour from one political candidate or party, then of course, you never see their flaws and sins, despite the obvious lapses, poor governance or lack of sincerity.
Then, your political rival becomes your enemy.
When I use the word “enemy”, I mean real foe that you want to get rid of; a “fight to the death” kind of thing. Check Facebook and you will see the vituperative languages being used by us to defend our political stance. And the senseless thing is that the politicians, who we are tearing each other apart for, do not even give a damn about our ranting or about our lives. You can hardly partake in a political
discourse on social media these days without some mediocre idiot and men/women of low intelligence hurling abuses at you, just because you do not belong to the same political camp, or you do not share their political convictions or you are not voting for their candidates.

Our brand of politics is that of mud-slinging, insults, abuses, condemnations, bitterness. Real political considerations and issues are rarely of discourse. Who cares about ideologies, policies, feasible and workable manifestoes, work-plans, development plans? Who wants to talk about how to fund education, healthcare, electricity, creation of employment, etc? When participants in a political argument show themselves to lack phronesis (good practical and wise judgement), then we are entitled to judge them irrational.
And this is what we have in most of our politicians and the followers.
All they tell you is they will do this and do that – the same thing their ilk have been telling and promising us since 1960 and which we have rarely seen manifested. Of if manifested, their neglect has made them of no use for purpose.

The long and short of it is this: Leaders or rulers are only as bad or good as the society that spawns them. A bad society will consistently produce bad leaders while a good society will also consistently produce good leaders.
Our society, yes the Nigerian society, is immoral to the core; and this is why we have been producing the type of leaders we have had for the past fifty years. When occasionally a good leader rears its head up, we reject them, and then we start complaining.

We cannot continue doing things, running our lives the same old, corrupt and depraved ways and expect to get different and better results.
We simply have to change or depart from the old ways of doing things if we want to have a chance at a better life, survival, progress and development. A better Nigeria will be elusive if we do not change from our warped and depraved behaviours.

When a society decides to change, that change
must be constructive and led by sincere, truly
patriotic leaders and sincere and completely
patriotic followers! There is no room for hypocrisy, corruption, nepotism, maladministration, defective political, ethical and social structures, tribalism and non- altruistic demonstrations. In fact at this stage of
our lives, there is no longer any room for experimenting or for failure. We do not have the time; the oil is drying up, the population is growing, and the world is leaving us behind every second. We must start applying holistic approaches to the way we do things.

PDP or APC; Jonathan or Buhari; these do not really have any import on me. This 2015 Election, if allowed to take place on a free and fair basis, offers some hope to our nascent democracy; it offers a hope to the people to know and feel what democracy is all about – power really belongs to the people. If there is a change of federal government and ruling party
from PDP to APC, for example, it will empower
Nigerians, from grassroots to the top, and then they will realise their full power in a democracy. It will mean that every four years, we, the people, know and are assured that we can always throw out a bad performing government; a useless senator, a corrupt and ignorant governor, an awful councillor and evil politician in general. It will also mean that we
will not even allow such low-life get to power in the first place.

There we are!!!

God save and bless Nigeria!

That is what you are reduced to? Pathetic. See how you guys in bondage inadvertently sing and dance for your oppressors when you should dump them and seek others who can let you attain the dignity and choice others enjoy worldwide? My mobile phone contract (UK telecom provider) is around £18 per month (around N6,500.00) and gives me unlimited browsing, unlimited calls and unlimited text. I can do whatever I want on the go any day of the week from my own private line anywhere in the UK. How will you ever get such cost-effective empowerment that will allow you to be a more productive human being and greater human capital asset for your nation when the PDP you support ensures telecoms providers will never offer greater value because of high cost of operation?

Any company operating in Nigeria will automatically levy Nigerians heavily for the diesel they spend to power their operation and deduct 'rough terrain' tax from whatever they supply. This is why I laugh at you blind supporters of GEJ. You have no exposure beyond "suffering and smiling" Nigeria to know how bad you have it and how pathetically oppressed you are. They fleece you and you guys simply embrace more corruption and 'wayo' to try and afford what should be the very basics any dignified human being should enjoy. Yet you continue to sing and dance for your oppressors of 16 years who will keep you as you are even if they have 80 years in charge of Nigeria. Sad. Very sad and I feel sorry for you.
I tire for them o o o my brother. I can vividly remember how foreigners troops in to Nigeria back in the 60's, 70's and early 80's in search of Greenland pasture. but all that disappeared after Buhari was ousted out of office.

'how many public office holder was prosecuted for been corrupt during Buhari's short tenure in office?
when exactly does corruption escalated in Nigeria?
what was the value of an average Nigerian life before and after Buhari's tenure?
and what was the life expectancy rate of NIGERIANS before Babangida came to power?

InvestmentNaira Hits N217 To Dollar At Black Market by Sunky200(op): 11:31am On Feb 21, 2015
The naira depreciated by N5 to the dollar on Friday, trading N217 at the black market and N215 at the Bureau De Change (BDCs) segment of the official market.

A dealer, who did not want to be named, told NAN in Lagos that the depreciation might be due to the
closure of the Retail Dutch Auction System (RDAS) by the CBN.

It was closed by CBN on February 18.
The RDAS is a foreign exchange window at CBN where the Bureau de Change and commercial banks
buy forex.

The dealer said that the CBN’s decision, which was meant to control speculations, has made other currencies to be scarce.
He also said that dealers were left to source for forex only at the interbank market unlike in the past when they had three to four segments to buy.

Meanwhile the rate of pound also went higher. Against the N307 that it was sold for on Monday, it
exchanged for N332 against a naira.
It went for N335 at the black market, from the N314 it sold four days ago.

The naira lost N5 to the Euro to sell at N240, when compared with the N235 it sold at the BDCs on Monday.
The currency, at the black market, traded for N244 as against the N237 it traded on Monday.

PoliticsFani-kayode Counters President Jonathan, Says Ekiti Rigging Tape Authentic by Sunky200(op): 10:59am On Feb 20, 2015
Contrary to President Goodluck Jonathan’ dismissal of the Ekiti rigging audio recording as a fabrication that is not worth his attention, the spokesperson for his campaign, Femi Fani-Kayode has admitted that the tape is genuine but that the characters involved in the meeting captured in the recording werenot discussing how to rig the 2014 governorship election in Ekiti state.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Mr. Fani-Kayode said his team had listened to and reviewed the recording and that it came to the conclusion that the opposition All Progressives Congress turned fact on its head by claiming that Governor Ayodele Fayose o Ekiti state; former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro; and the Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, who featured in the recording, planned how to rig the election.

“We have listened to the audio clip and we make bold to say that the discussion that took place in it did not make any mention of any form of rigging in the Ekiti state governorship election and neither did it contain anyevidence of any conspiracy to rig,” he said.
Mr. Fani-Kayode also said rather than attempting to orchestrate rigging, what the audio clip clearly revealed was Governor Fayose expressing concerns that a military commander was not acting on information about illegal movement of weapons into
certain parts of the state.

“The Governor and others were apparently worried that safety of the voters and INEC officials could be compromised if security measures were not strictly enforced,” he said. Mr Fani-Kayode’s admission of the authenticity of the tape is another chapter in
the series of contradictory responses from the ruling party and those at the centre of the vote rigging plot.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, last Friday, Mr. Jonathan said he would not investigate the authenticity of the audio recording because it was a “fabrication.”
“It’s all fabrications. Why should I investigate things that are not real?” he asked.
Using forensic analysis that compared the voices in the recording with public record samples of the individuals in the recording, Guardian Consulting, The New York-based security firm, that helped authenticate the recordings, confirmed that the tape was genuine.

“The voices from the recording were subjected to a Forensic Voice Frequency Comparison against known samples and were found to match to a 98 per cent degree of certainty,” the firm said.
Mr Jonathan’s dismissal of the tape as a fabrication came after Mr Obanikoro denied taking part in the meeting and threatened to sue PREMIUM TIMES and Sahara Reporters for their vigorous reporting on the matter.

Mr. Adesiyan confessed that the recording was
genuine but that it was more of an altercation between Mr. Fayose and Mr. Momoh after the
former accused the later of favouring the then governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi.

“Fayose accused the General who supervised the Ekiti election of taking bribe from Fayemi and APC, that was two days before the election. They called me because they said the General disarmed policemen and I told him to allow the policemen to do their job,” he told the Sunday Punch newspaper.
After initially claiming his voice was manipulated using speech software such as Natural Voices, Mr. Fayose later admitted during a political event in Ekiti that it was his voice that was captured in the tape but
claimed he was rebuking Mr. Momoh for favouring the APC.

“If you listen to the tape about military rigging in Ekiti. Listen to the tape you will see that I was the one accusing the army of compromise. Listen, take time to listen. But they would come back with propaganda and saying it all as if the whole world of
propaganda belongs to them,” he said.
Counter AllegationWhile challenging the APC to do a critical content analysis of the discussions in the
audio clip, Mr. Fani-Kayode said it was the APC that rigged the governorship election in Osun state
“During the course of those elections, some of their agents gathered in secret locations where they thumb-printed ballot papers in favor of their governorship candidate, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola,” he said.

Mr. Fani Kayode also played a video tape he claimed proved the APC rigged the election in Osun state.
“It is ironic that instead of purging itself of its own insatiable appetite for rigging an cheating, the APC, through its Presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, chose to call a press conference in which he alleged that our leaders were ordering soldiers to rig in Ekiti state.
“This is a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black,” he said.

APC, Buhari calling for violence At his presconference, Mr. Fani-Kayode also accused the APC and its presidential candidate of veiled attempts to instigate violence in the country, while also undermining the nation’s armed forces.
“It is now very clear to us that the APC is determined to cause security breaches in the next few weeks. This has been confirmed by their vigorous campaign of calumny against the military and their consistent demand that soldiers must not be deployed for security surveillance at the polling booths in the
forthcoming elections,” he said.

Mr. Fani-Kayode also alleged what he termed subtle threat of violence by Mr. Buhari at an APC leadership meeting in Abuja on Tuesday.
“General Buhari said that the patience of th APC and its leaders were on test. One wonders what he means by that and what he and his supporters intend to do once that patience runs out.

“In an AFP news report of Friday, February 6, 2015, he was asked if he would accept the outcome of the presidential election n matter how unfavourable. Listen to his answer: “I am not going to lose; so I won’t answer that question.”

“Again, only yesterday, Wednesday, Februar 18, 2015, in an interview on ARISE Television, General Buhari was asked what his reaction would be if he loses the election. His answer was: “We shall see.”
“As far as we are concerned, these are ominous and subtle threats to unleash violence on the Nigerian people and all those that he perceives are his enemies in the event of his losing the election,” he said.

Mr. Fani-Kayode said Mr. Buhari has succeeded in inflaming the destructive passion of his supporters in the northern part of the country on many occasions in the past.
“We recall his unacceptable remarks on May 15, 2012 when he said “if what happened in 2011 should happen again in 2015, the dog and the baboon would be soaked in blood”.
“We witnessed the orgy of violence that they unleashed shortly after the announcement of the results of the 2011 presidential election, which the Sheik Lemu Committee, in its report to the Federal Government, said was caused by Buhari’s inflammatory statements.
“We recall with sadness the massacre of some of our vibrant youth corps members who participated in the 2011 election as INEC’s ad-hoc staff in Bauchi State.

“We are concerned that the same thing may happen again given General Buhari’s divisive and inciting comments coupled with the APC’s violent disposition,” Mr. Fani-Kayode said.
He said the attempt by the APC to discredit the use of soldiers by promoting some“misleading audio footage of the so-called rigging during the Ekiti governorship election, in which one Captain Sagir Koli was th dramatis personae, is childish and absurd”.
He said the Nigerian Government deployed
soldiers in the Anambra, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti and
Osun gubernatorial elections and all those
elections were devoid of violence.
“Remarkably, the APC won in Edo and Osun; APGA won in Anambra, Labour Party won in Ondo while PDP won only in Ekiti State,” he said.
He added that the basis on which the APC is agitating for the exclusion of soldiers from the election by sponsoring court cases is patently dubious and untenable.
“The reason that the APC and its leaders do not want soldiers deployed is to be able to intimidate voters and unleash violence on the polity once they lose the elections.
“They know that it would be far more difficult for them to do that when soldiers are on the streets.
“With these dishonourable tactics and desperate acts by the APC, we are the ones who should be worried and who should be complaining but, unlike Buhari and the APC, our patience is not running out because we are committed to a peaceful election and wecompletely reject the option of violence,” he said.

PoliticsOn The Cusp Of History: A Letter To President Goodluck Jonathan By ‘tope Oriola by Sunky200(op): 8:17am On Feb 20, 2015
Dear President Goodluck Jonathan: Let me begin by stating that I approach your person and presidency from a sympathetic perspective. My unsolicited support is predicated on the fact that you are from the Niger Delta, a region that has given so much yet received little from our country and perhaps because you have always struck me as a humble exemplar of the rags to prominence fable.
As an underdog in the political terrain, you were a stranger to power: You were not from a political family; you were neither from the military nor business class. You were from the periphery of the academia. I have occasionally been embarrassed by how you were treated by some critics. I have had occasion to be upset at how some journalists treated you in some of the interviews you granted.

Like many Nigerians, I wanted you to succeed as your success was directly correlated with our success as a society. Therefore, this letter is not full of vitriol. Rather, it contains a sober and non-partisan assessment of your options at this defining moment.
Societies do not often go through this kind of moment. I presume that you and those around you can sense the mood of the times.
Chief Olusegun Obasanjo saw a glimpse of the
quality of this moment during the third term debacle. General Ibrahim Babangida who famously “stepped aside” may speak to th character of this moment. But by a wide margin, General Sani Abacha’s era could
provide clearer lessons. You are on the cusp of history. You are, as history may record, in a world-historical crucible at this moment.
Nobody feels it better than you. Nobody in Nigeria bears greater responsibility. Our country’s survival is in your hands.

Your Excellency, you are a product of the Nigerian system. No one needs to remind you about your meteoric emergence on the national stage. You were favoured above several individuals who by your own
confession were better qualified and had more
experience. Nonetheless, you emerged as a
relatively young state executive; part of the new generation of leaders without the baggage and blood-stained hands of military coups.
And of course, your being from the Niger Delta was music to the ears of many of us. We were ecstatic; you could do no wrong in our eyes!

However, the major power brokers that made you no longer want you. Anecdotal evidence also strongly suggests that many of the people no longer want you. Nigeria as you admitted to US ambassador, Robin Sanders, during the succession debacle, is too complex for a simple man like you.
I am afraid, Mr. President, that Nigeria needs someone with qualities that you do not possess. It is not for lack of effort on your part. There are too
many wolves in Nigeria. They are not wolves in sheep’s clothing; they are shameless wolves. You never stood a chance, Mr. President. Nigeria needs a complex thinker who can call to order errant old men in the self-serving elite; someone they either respec or fear.

The ongoing political crisis is turning into heroes some who should be in prison for corruption, human rights violation or both.
Our country is hemorrhaging. When those whose livelihood depends on not telling you the truth leave the room and you are all alone, speak to your Creator and do the right thing for the long-suffering Nigerian people.
You must be ready for the probability that you may lose the presidential election. That may well be good for the country and yourself. It is time for you to stay true to your belief in the Scriptures: All power belongs to God and he gives it to whomever he wills.

I am not particularly thrilled that someone who was military Head of State when I was barely out of diapers may succeed you in office but that may well be the beauty of democracy. Do not impede the voice of the people. History may yet be kind to you if you conduct free and fair elections. You are unlikely to win the Mo Ibrahim or Nobel Prize but you will earn significant respect for peaceful transfer of power and begin a dignified life in retirement. You may even become a power broker although I view you as too humble to want that role.

Your Excellency, your primary aim must now be a higher purpose than winning an election.
Allow Professor Attahiru Jega to do his job.
You cannot replace the umpire at the last minute. The optics are bad. Meet with the Inspector General of Police and military chiefs and let them know that your political ambitions are secondary to the well-being of our country. Stop your supporters from
fanning the embers of religious bigotry.
Provide the needed resources and leadership to tackle Nigeria’s many security problems.
Allow the notion of an interim national government to remain what it is — a mere rumour. Please, address the Nigerian people and tell fellow Nigerians you are speaking to them as their leader and not a candidate for election. Tell them to vote for whomsoever they please and that you will ensure there is no electoral rigging.

It is your right to stand for office but ensure you act ethically and legally. Campaign with all your heart but be ready to accept defeat. I do not think that your luck has ran out. I think your luck has now called you to rise beyond the self. Your name is Goodluck. There may yet be more luck in store for you but clinging on to power is not in your fortunes.
You will be stunned at how history will remember you if you organize free and fair elections. Do not take Nigeria towards the road to Rwanda.
I wish you well.

Sincerely,
‘Tope Oriola.

The decision by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to close down its official market and channel all official forex demand to the interbank market has been
described as a de facto devaluation of the naira.

According to Reuters, following the scrapping of the bi-weekly currency auction market, the naira will now
N198 to a dollar, unveiling a de facto devaluation of the currency of Africa’s biggest economy and top
oil producer.

FMDQ, a group comprising Nigeria’s main commercial banks and the central bank, said commercial banks had also been banned from
re-selling central bank dollars to other banks, another attempt to end speculation in the naira.

Also, commenting on the decision to close the RDAS, Razia Khan, an analyst at Standard Chartered Bank,
who is based in London, stated in a report titled: “Nigeria stops RDAS FX sales,” obtained by TheCable, stated that “this is an effective devaluation of the official Nigerian naira exchange rate.”

“With Nigeria forex reserves under pressure as a result of weaker oil prices, markets had anticipated
eventual unification of Nigeria’s different exchange rates. Following the announcement in February that
presidential and parliamentary elections would be postponed to 28 March, Nigerian markets were subject to greater volatility.

“Naira losses were frequently large enough to trigger a daily shutdown of Nigeria’s FX market. In response
to these pressures, the CBN intervened directly through special auctions, filling demand for FX directly, but at a much higher dollar-naira exchange rate than that prevailing at the bi-weekly official RDAS.

“With FX reserves under pressure, and amid growing concern that a wide RDAS-interbank spread would
encourage ‘round-tripping’, the CBN will now stop RDAS auctions, effectively discontinuing its FX subsidy for certain categories of demand. This is positive news, and should help create more
transparency in the Nigerian market.

However, with oil prices currently at levels where FX reserves will be difficult to replenish, the CBN’s appetite for continued support of the interbank
m FX rate will be closely monitored,” she explained.

PoliticsSenate Strips President Of Power To Ascent To Bills by Sunky200(op): 1:14pm On Feb 19, 2015
The report of the Senate Committee on the Review of 1999 Constitution on Wednesday disclosed that the President has been stripped of power to ascent to bills passed by the National Assembly.

The Upper Chamber after presentation by the Chairman of the Committee and Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, approved amendments to the 1999 Constitution following the
submission of the constitution alteration bill by the state houses of assembly.

Therefore presidential assent will no longer be required for a bill to become law as long as the National Assembly has approved it.
Also in the report of the Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution submitted by Ekweremadu 20 states voted against local government autonomy, while 16 states voted in support.

The 20 states that voted against are: Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kwara, Lagos, Ondo, Osun, Rivers, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
States who gave the yes votes are: Adamawa, Anambra, Abia, Bauchi, Benue, Edo, Gonbe, Imo, Kebbi, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau
and Sokoto states.

The proposed amendments, which was rejected, indicated that “a local government council not democratically elected shall not be recognised by all
authorities and persons and shall not be entitled to any revenue allocation from the Federation Account or the state government nor exercise any function
exercisable by a local government council under this Constitution or any law for the time being in force; and “Shall stand dissolved at the expiration of a period of four years, commencing from the date the members of the Council were sworn in….”

PoliticsRe: Has GEJ Really Constructed 25,000km Of Roads? by Sunky200: 12:36pm On Feb 19, 2015
Delafruita:
The proponents of continuity for GEJ list among his achievements the construction of 25,000km of roads.they state this as a reason to vote him again but then it gets me wondering.lagos state though the smallest in nigeria has one of the most extensive road networks in nigeria.its interesting to note that lagos has 5,500km of roads inclusive of about 11% been federal roads.goin by the assertion of the GEJ campaign, they have constructed roads that are fives times the size of all the roads in lagos state.i dont mean to be a doubting thomas, but i dont think any government needs to advertise 25,000km of roads if indeed that assertion is true.i believe this claim to be false And i urge the GEJ camp to refrain from spreading falsehood
my friend, refuse to be brainwashed, intimidated or mislead in any way/form of any propaganda-ism.
Lagos to England is 5004km.
so, how on earth would GEJ have 5 * 5004km roads constructed in 4 years and you and I still don't know about it?

you chose what you believe, chose either lies or crystallike truth. …

PoliticsUS Trains Nigerian+ Soldiers To Fight Boko Haram by Sunky200(op): 8:12pm On Feb 18, 2015
More than 250 US troops will take part in a three-week “Flintlock” training drill of soldiers from Nigeria to combat the Boko Haram insurgency.

According to a Reuters report, soldiers from Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Mali, Mauritania,
Niger, Senegal and Tunisia will also take part in the drill which is taking place in N’djamena, Chad.

The training is expected to help improve intelligence-sharing, patrols, desert survival techniques, airborne operations and marksmanship.

The US-backed counter-terrorism exercise involving 1,300 soldiers from 28 African and Western countries is billed as a warm-up for a multi-pronged onslaught against Boko Haram, Reuters reports.

The annual “Flintlock” exercises began in 2005 in an attempt to improve cross-border cooperation in Africa’s arid Sahel belt, a region prey to al Qaeda-linked and home- grown fundamentalists, separatist
insurgents and criminal trafficking gangs.

“This exercise to a large extent can be considered a warm-up to enable our special forces to learn techniques in the fight against terrorism,”

Chadian Brigadier General Zakaria Ngobongue said in a speech to mark the start of the exercises on Monday.

Presidents from the 10-nation Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC) pledged on Monday to create an emergency fund for military, medical and logistical support.

The US has indicated interest to help Nigeria in the war on terror but said it was yet to receive any
official request for troops.
