@Kaydelegend01 even if you request for a gcms notes your final decision will come before the note, they are attending to may 1 - may 8 submission, it will be updated tomorrow night again. In 2 to 3 weeks from now u should get your final decision.
We have discussed this before numerous times on this platform. This timeline is for applications made within Canada... It differs from applications outside Canada...

It is advisable that he request for a GCMS notes. If the cost of GCMS request (5K) is not a burden to him, there is no cons of requesting for it even if his PPR arrived before the GCMS delivery. His application already exceeded the estimated 10 weeks processing time (that was the estimated processing time in early May).

Kaydelegend01:
Good morning my leaders in the house .

Please I need your advise at this juncture.

I have B.Sc Economics 2:1...Msc Econs and I applied for an MBA for career progression...
I have applied for my permit since May 13th, though I was able to do my biometrics and got it updated on the 19th of May, did my medicals on the 11th of May as well. Both bio and med have been updated and passed since 19th of May.

I submitted Ielts, 4 months my banks statement, one 9.5m from my personal account in first bank and 6m fixed deposit certificate from an access joint account with my wife.

I also submitted consent letter from wify, My employment letter, pay slip, letter of intro from my organisation and lots more

I submitted police clearance certificate and even paid 11,000 CAD apart from the 15.5m I submitted as my POF.

I attached the landed properties I have in 3 major states in Nigeria and some house documents too.

I didn't get NSE request....and even till now now even a single ghost update.

Should I order for another mybankstatement from January to August??

What should I do cos am bit worried my people .

Kindly speak as your advise here gives us a lot of courage .

My resumption is 26th Sept...Newbrunswick
Kindly request for GCMS notes. That will give you an idea on what has been done on your application.

You application seems well packaged and you should have received a decision by now.

Keep calm, all will be well.

Answer to one and two .
It’s a requirement for All travelers .
Two : it’s free and you can book while at the airport or register ahead on switch portal . You would also be given self kit for day 8 and it’s also free.
Thanks for the enlightenment... How has Vancouver been treating you?
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 19 by SuomyNona: 10:16pm On Aug 01, 2021
To those that have travelled.

1) Is the arrival Covid19 test a requirement for vaccinated travelers?

2) How did you book for it and did you pay for the arrival Covid19 test at the airport after landing?

3) What is the most advisable way to exchange USD to CAD upon arrival?

Wow
The journey to my application getting approved was exactly 6 months. 6 long stressful months.
When I submitted my application, I didn't understand much about the process. I didn't even click yes when asked if I would require a medical exam lol.

My timeline:
Submitted application - January 29th
Biometrics done - February 9th
NSE request sent - February 26th
Biometrics updated - February 29th
Sent IELTS and mbs - February 29th
IRCC received - March 9

From here on there was total silence and I began to worry a lot but I didn't know who or where to make enquiries.
When I came to this thread in April, I was very scared that my application would be refused because I saw a lot of mistakes I made but I became very proactive after I had gotten enough info.

Proof of funds wasn't a problem as my dad was my sponsor and I had been awarded a scholarship by my school (University of Toronto)

It was from this thread I learnt one could do upfront medicals. Eventually, I was sent a medical request on June 4th and I went for it on June 21st. It was updated to passed a week later after I uploaded the e-medical form given to me.

Another long wait began and I kept hoping as I was seeing stories of people getting their PPR a week after their medical.
I considered sending mails to MPs, webforms but I thought against it,. I saw people getting PPRs after ordering for their GCMS so I ordered mine on the 19th of July.

I saw a ghost update at 1am on the 29th and by 1pm I received an email from IRCC.
Finally I can rest smiley

Documents submitted:
- IMM1294
- IMM5645
- IMM5257
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Admission letter and Scholarship letter
- Bank Statements of my dad's account
- Digital Photo
- IELTS
- Custodianship Form

Finally I would like to thank people on this thread who answered all my questions no matter how seemingly stupid they were.
It has finally ended in good news.
Glad to see another U of Toronto student. We are upto 6 on this thread resuming for Fall session.

Kindly send a DM, at this rate it is possible that we create a group on WhatsApp.

He had ND not BSC. And we want to switch from Architecture to Computer Science. He doesn't want to pursue a career in Architecture anymore.
There is nothing bad in this, but you must have a convincing explanation in the SOP for doing this.

My personal opinion is that there are numerous loopholes to cover, let the PA defer the admission till next year. You have to tidy up the financial aspect and build up a proper profile for the intended course.

Find an accredited certification IT centre i.e NIIT or New Horizon. Let the PA enrol for a short duration relevant IT programming there (like 3 months or 6 months). This will not only help the PA for visa but will also ease his integration to the course when he is in Canada. You can also try to secure a remote computer science internship for the PA.

Omg I’m typing this with tears in my eyes. I applied for study permit since November 16 2020 but after emailing for the past 2 weeks and messaging an MP yesterday, the application is out. I’ve been rejected for personal asset and financial status. The thing is that the account used had millions of naira but rejected still. It’s been years since the last time I shed a tear but today, I shed them like a little baby. I don’t know what to do right now
Stay strong. It is a delay not a denial.

God will perfect your next application. Success awaits.

Here is a public forum, and there is a reason why it is a public forum. The only laws guiding this thread is the Nairaland forum laws and not individually suggested laws.

It is normal that some individuals will see situations that can be improved on, but trust me it won't matter on the long run. That's the beauty of a public forum, everybody is free to do their personal will provided it didn't contravene the law of the platform (Nairaland).

Few months ago that I started following this thread. I went through tons of pages to get the information I needed before proceeding to ask those I am confused about. But it is very common to see many people ask about a thing that is stated on the very first page of the thread. I used to frown on that before, until I realise it is a public forum and there is bound to be individual differences.

Many people will act differently and will approach things differently to how you will approach it.

You cannot tell people how to celebrate their application approval and you can't also tell people how to react to their application denial. You cannot tell people how to post or what to post about approval and denial also.

Most people that post their decisions usually add timelines and documents submitted. And I think that's the most important thing.

May God ease all our affairs.

Canada is so slow and not so organized in terms of Visa. I'd prefer the USA if it was fully funded too.

I requested GCMS notes it came last week May 15, fully funded masters and it came out blank
All will be well, stay calm.

It is a temporary inconvenience. If your plan is to stay post study, the long-term benefits of MSc or PhD in Canada outweighs the US.

It is true that the US study visa is easier and faster to get, especially for fully funded grad students.

It will all be worth it, may God crown all our efforts with prompt success.

Hi all!

When one ignores the NSE request, must he/she send letter of explanation explaining reasons for that action?
From past experience on this thread, it is better to do so.

If you can't get MBS, let them know. i.e

1) Your bank may not be part of the MyBankStatement platform

2) Your sponsor uses a foreign bank account and could not get MBS

If you can't meet up with IELTS, state it too i.e

1) The next available date for the test is far and you can't meet up with the given 30 days period.

2) Your work schedule won't give you enough time to prepare for the test within 30days.

That's one of the school with the highest visa acceptance rates. It's a very good school
One of the reasons for there high approval rate is because they only have MBA related programme as graduate courses.

Most MBA applicants have strong working experience. It is easier to prove purpose of visit, employment prospect, return of investment on study expenses and career progression.

Hi everyone

Who has applied or attending university canada west, Vancouver, British Columbia.
I have applied but the negative reviews online is quite alarming. What is your suggestion please?
The negative reviews are from the previous administration of the school.

A new management bought them about 5 years ago and they have been reformed.

The learning satisfaction of students have improved and there has been a lot of positive reviews lately.

I feel it's not rubbish but logical.

Getting a master degree with Second class lower is achievable in Canada (I have seen a few) but rare because The country is now becoming the number 1 choice for international students. So you are competing with many nationalities for admission space.

Again, as we all know, Canada has an easier route for students to transit from TR to PR & ultimately, Citizenship hence why the competition is fierce. Unlike, US, UK (where policies around students are currently being changed to keep them in the country) & Australia which the theme for international students is "Come get your masters & go back to your country".

So the main reason why it's difficult for a Bs.c Second class lower to get a master's admission is that the competition is fierce in CA. Backing your admission with experience, research works, and other relevant information can give you an upper hand. I will also advise a Second class lower holder to not apply for the competitive schools & courses because it's almost a guarantee you will not get a space.

On the ranking mentioned, I beg to defer. According to QS World University Rankings 2021, CA has 7 universities in the top 200 and 10 in the top 250. The University of Toronto which is CA's highest-ranked is placed at No. 25 globally.

In the nearest future, getting admission in CA will be as difficult as getting a Canadian student visa (if not more) with this trend. The number of international students is off the roof currently.
Adding to your input. Canada has fewer universities than the US or the UK. So you have to understand the competition for the few spots in the available universities.

You still have to inverse it, i.e 1/the decimal digits

To find the naira equivalent, you have to inverse that value.

The Naira equivalent is ₦331.69.

I used this conversion in my LOE for my visa application too. It was 306 in early May, Naira is getting worthless every day.

Thank you for the replies. Cc; LFJ11

I will ask for the document from them.

I have a 15/20 French GPA. The problem with French grades is the lack of uniformity in conversion across universities worldwide. I have also tried scholaro and it is more suited with the US market. It's conversion is different in Canada.

For example, like most US universities, Scholaro grades 14 upwards as an A, an A in McGill is 16 upwards. In Australia, an A is 15 upwards.

In Scholaro, a 13/20 is 3.0. The same 13 is a B+ (3.3) at McGill while for university of Alberta, it is their minimum grade which I take to be a 3.0. The problem is Alberta only provided the minimum grading for France. I guess I won't know until I apply.

Thank you for bringing this up. I need to have this confirmed cos if they decide to use my undergrad, I'm royally bleeped. Local man was not serious during undergraduate days. Last 4 undergrad GPA are 4.6, 2.9, 4.56, 3.08. The discrepancy is enough for them to bin my application.
Okay I understand better now. All will be well.

Please, I will appreciate answers. Cc LFJ11

I have a masters from France and intend to apply for a PhD. But due to lack of some certain course prerequisites, my supervisor and the program cordinator adviced I apply for their masters which will be also be fully funded and then transfer to a PhD. Will I have issues with getting a visa for a second masters given that I intend to go with my wife and daughter? Also is it okay if I ask the graduate coordinator to provide me with a written letter stating that I lacked certain course requirements?

Another problem is I require a 3.7 to be successful. How is the last two years average calculated for a masters degree holder. Will it be a course by course evaluation or will be masters degree be evaluated as a whole.

The graduate school at University of Alberta is refusing to give information on GPA conversion until I apply.
1) You will have to explain this in your LOE, give detailed convincing explanation on the reasons you stated above. Show how the courseworks are different from your previous masters and show how the courseworks in your intended program will help achieve your career goals.

2) Getting a letter from the program coordinator or your supervisor pertaining the reason will be great, it will make things smoother for you.

Regarding your evaluation I think the program coordinator will be in the best position to tell you details on how they will evaluate your credentials.

You can use the free conversion resources available online to compute your grades and get an idea what it will be on a 4.0 scale. I used scholaro and it tallies with what U of Toronto used for their evaluation of my last two years grade, so it probably will be close to what U of Alberta uses.

Also, in my opinion, since they directed you to apply for MSc due to missing prerequisite courses in your present Masters , they would probably use your last 2 years of undergraduate studies for evaluation. You should ask your supervisor or program coordinator for confirmation.

Soft landing gist
I booked Ethiopian airline for 1:40pm.
I said my final goodbyes and moved to the airport. I got there by 9:30 thinking I’m late because of the story I read here as per queue but there wasn’t any.
They didn’t allow my husband to enter and I had to tip them 500.
We proceeded to where they were suppose to check my bag but the woman asked for money n we moved to declare agricultural product, I had just one bag and I paid 2,000.

Next was to get my boarding pass. My bag was 43kg and so didn’t need to pay but paid 1000 to wrap my Ghana must go that had my foodstuffs.

I was asked for my passport , enrollment letter , arrive can , hotel for quarantine and COVID-19test result.(everything was printed out so was easy to find).

Everything was so smooth until the man said my covid 19 go soon expire by the time I reach .
Na that time I wan cry , pe village people u must show yourself o.

After series of back and forth, I was allowed to move to where we have the computer so I can scan my pp.

Then I was issued my yellow card where I have to fill my form and my boarding pass . That’s how one man said let me help you fill your form , olodo me allowed him, when he wrote my first name then nairaland tip hit pe, this man wants money like this o. I told him, don’t worry o, I go fill am, I filled it myself and when I was about to return his biro, he said find joy for your brother now, chai I said to myself , upon say I don read landing gist here back to back , I still looseguard. I sha gave him 500 naira.

I moved to eat and told my hubby to take all naira as e don finish , pe no more tipping then moved to final e boarding gate where we have the immigration officers.
First officer checked and asked for tip.by that time no more naira as I wouldn’t have thought , uniform people go want tip huh.I gave him 1 dollar and he said just one ? I said sorry o.
I was now directed to the second person where he checked and asked my my Canadian address and Nigerian address, I gave my Airbnb addrsss and number and did my fingerprint and he asked for tip too before stamping my pp. I gave him 1 dollar n apologized that I didn’t think I’d need to pay in here hmmm.
Then final final checks again, by that time I don tire , they checked my handbag and saw dried meat wey I wan Dey munch small small, the woman said I don see exhibit , settle your girl, for my mind, u no see shishi but I go sha giv u because na Poe Dey my mind like this.

Luckily I saw 1,000, I gave her and was seated for my flight .
