gbadeolu1:Have you resumed your program in the US? And do you prefer the Canadian offer than the one in the US? I think you should mail your program in Canada and explain that you just got your study permit application approved and inquire if it is possible for you to get access to your initial funding this Fall or if you could still meet up for May resumption. If they decide to extend the funding offer to you, then you can decide if it is worth it to leave the US program and take the Canadian opportunity. |
mudiwest:On the right track... Eligibility review is the most important stage and probably the most intensive... All the best... |
Tobyy10:They will update it. It may take some time, but it will definitely be updated. It has only been 20 days, it takes a month and even upto 2 months in some cases before they update it. Has your eligibility review started? |
ofspain:Before you apply find enough funds to evaluate both your Undergraduate degree and MSc grade by WES. With WES evaluation both grades will be a little above 3.0 on a 4.00 scale depending on your performance in your courses. After that, you have to be realistic when shortlisting programs to apply to, your GRE is low for an Engineering program (your quant is 49 percentile and Verbal is 54 percentile). Make sure you sit for TOEFL and try to have at least 22(preferably 24) in writing and speaking section, this will put you in a good position to be considered for TA role in case you don't make the cut for RA. If you can retake the GRE it will be better, but if you can't you can still get good offers with strategic applications. Based on your profile, I will advise you to apply to at least 5 schools. Use the usnews national university ranking. There are 388 nationally ranked uni in the usnews ranking. I will advise you to focus on those schools. Focus on the lowly ranked (250 to 388) schools and a few mid-tier (150 to 250) schools. Mail all the Graduate Coordinator of your department in the schools you shortlisted and attach all your documents(test scores, transcript, CV), In the mail: ask if you will have to secure a Professor's approval as research supervisor before applying, ask about their funding policies, application priority deadline for funding, requirements needed to be considered for funding, ask if your profile fits grad students that have been funded in the last 2 sessions. After this, apply to the programs that gives you favourable outcomes. Note that most GC won't reply to your email, some will reply after persistent trials and reminders. Calling them is an option too if emailing doesn't work. With a well-worded SOP detailing your research experience and how they are related to the research being done in the program, coupled with good LORs, you will surely get funded offers. Don't give up and don't be discouraged, your dreams are valid. |
SOLARPOWER1:Take the new one along. The 15 minutes duration is a sham at most panels. They will give about 3 to 5 minutes at rush hours. Presenting your point succinctly and with precision is important. |
Jamesrock:Nice profile, prepare well and impress your interviewers. You know Nigerian professors and the way they act. Try not to trigger them and present your points in such a way that they will accept it. |
Jamesrock:Sure. For MSc It's more like a lottery, about 120 will be interviewed per state. About 5 or 6 will be chosen per State and an additional 2 each in oil-producing states. Do your best in the interview, pray for grace and hope for the best. However, please do not depend on PTDF scholarship alone. Find numerous alternative scholarships and apply. No matter how big you think your profile is you will surely meet superior applicants from your state. |

Let me say it is highly unprofessional of him revealing my details on a public forum. I saw a post vouching for him. So I have to reply to it to reveal what happened. Now let me explain a few red flags that made me suspicious about this guy. Now put yourself in my shoes and try to understand what happened. First pointer: he suggested a fraudulent way for taking the test (snapshot 1) Second pointer: I had a TOEFL account before contacting him. He changed my TOEFL account password after requesting my email and gave a strange reason for doing so. He claimed it automatically changed. (Snapshot 2) After pointer 1 and 2 I became suspicious. 3rd pointer: I google-searched B2consulting and saw their contact on their website, called the number and they claimed they actually do not have an affiliation to this nairaland account. Check the address he used to advertise(snapshot3) and the address and contact of B2 consulting website(snapshot 4). You can call the contact on the B2consulting website too and inquire about him yourself. They were the one I finally used.

Vwendy:All ETS help on TOEFL https://alleng.org/d/engl_en/eng018.htm |
B2consult111:This one almost scammed me until I searched online and discovered the actual B2consulting have different contact details. I contacted the real B2consulting at the stated address and they denied knowing the person operating this nairaland account and informed me that they have no affiliation to him. Unfortunately, I have given this guy my details and he has started pestering me to transfer the fee to him. He quickly changed my TOEFL account password, trying to use that to tie me to him. I simply changed it back and instantly blocked his WhatsApp and number from calling me. it is crazy out here, it is safer to just go with reputable third-party vendors and not minding the little extra pay. God will judge evildoers ripping people off their money. |
@AffordableTests please come out to clarify all these messes. someone close to me that registered TOEFL with you is affected too, this is sheer wickedness. If you registered any test with AffordableTests, you should check your ETS portal. |
