I am not denying that. That is even the foundation for the modern game. Coaches/ technical crew study film a lot and develop teams, formations etc.
Our super eagles equally had the best team compared to our previous squads because coach Keshi had the right mix of both foreign and local talent. I still believe that it is more a team game than individual talent, that said I emphasize "more" because you cannot build a team with a bunch of divisiom 3 grade players

shymexx: Europe has always been the Mecca of football and you've to play in Europe, before you can be considered a legend from way back in the 60s. The only exception is Pele.

We need the old football back. We need the real strikers like: Batistuta, Marco Van Basten et al back. Defenders like: Baresi, Sammer et al back. And Midfielders like: Lothar Matthaus, Simeone, Dunga et al back.

The best striker in Europe at one point this season was Falcao, and this guy didn't even score a damn goal in like 6 games.

No doubt those are legends. The game has evolved a bit. There is a bigger focus on the team game than individual talent. That's why teams like Man U, Barca , Bayern .. etc are at the top.
Super eagles won AFCON this year because they actually played as a team (and with hunger) rather then just a collection of talented players.

shymexx: Heck, since USA 94, the World Cup has become boring as hell. I grew up in the 90s, and thank God I watched the 94 world cup as kid. And did watch Italian 90, Mexico 86 etc. on video tapes and later on youtube. Those guys back then made football interesting. Their technical awareness, footballing skills, agility etc..

Actually the World Cup may look boring because the quality of club football , UEFA etc has improved and is followed a lot .
There is nothing like the world cup though - national pride is always bigger than affiliation to a club (which can even change).
