There is standardized english...but believe me...if u go to england, u will see the difference btw various clans in england.
We should standardize igbo and increase our vocabulary..
Omanabala1 is very divisive...and i hate divisive ppl with passion I understand my brother. Whether pazienza fancies Igbo ezue or not, he can't deny its unifying factor. pazienza: Igbo Izugbe has come to stay, Nwanne. There is nothing anyone can do about it. Fighting it would be like Okonkwo in Achebe's TFA who was fighting against the colonial influence in Umuofia. It's a furtile battle.
Igbo Izugbe is affecting all Igbo groups. It's a good thing. To find each other, we must lose a part of ourselves to accept a part of each other. Take for instance in names. Most Igbos in Imo and Abia go by the name "Emeka", but this is not Imo/Abia dialect. The Imo/Abia equivalent of "Emeka" should be "Emela" hence instead of Chukwuemeka, it should be Chukwuemela. Yet you don't see Abia/Imo people complaining about this. It's generally accepted that "Emeka" sounds sweeter than "Emela" in names, yet when we sing in the church in Igboland, we say "Imela imela, imela okaka". And not "I meka I meka", simply because, Imela sounds sweeter in songs. It's the beauty of Igbo language.
In Anambra, we all accept that "Chinyere" the Abia/Imo version of the name, sounds sweeter than "Chinyelu", so we give our children "Chinyere" as names and not "Chinyelu. Other Abia/ Imo versions of names prefered are Chizaram(Chizalum), Chinaemerem( Chinaemelum),etc.
For Anambra versions accepted by all. Ifeoma(Iheoma), Ifeanyi(Iheanyi), Chidera(Chideha), etc.
It's a good thing, and should be embraced by all, it unifies us more. A good one from pazienza. Nice. |

pazienza: What braggadoccio do you speak of? I simply debunked his many allegations against Ndi Anambra.
Okpara was Zik henchman. Whatever peace he enjoyed in East,or leverage at the centre that ensured the East stayed on top of its game, it was Zik who afforded him that. Okpara was a solid leader, but Zik was the overall leader who marshalled out aims and objectives of the NCNC party, go figure. Okpara was a member of Zikism movement. Let that sink in.
I didn't subtly project any thing. Zik was the Igbo leader in the era in discuss. He was the one with the plans. Without Zik, there wouldn't be an indigenous ran Eastern region for Okpara to even lead,to begin with.
Well, there wouldn't be a civil war, if Ironsi did the needful, he(Ironsi) failed to manage the immediate post Nzeogwu coup complications. Ojukwu was the man faced with the arduous task of cleaning up both Nzeogwu and Ironsi mess, he wasn't perfect, but he shouldn't be cleaning up any mess at all, if Ironsi wasn't so bad at leadership. So, if you want to play the blame game, know for sure that it would backfire, because there is enough blame to go round.
Never did I say that Anambra is the only state with firsts. If you don't celebrate your own firsts and Anambra chose to celebrate theirs, whose fault is it? Are we suppose to be apologetic to you for celebrating our heroes? You are already downplaying the roles of Ndi Anambra, starting with Zik, so you are not so much different from those you chose to malign. Okpara was indeed a zikist in ideology, but his leadership qualities were simply his, NOT zik's. Let that also sink in. Zik himself was Herbert Macaulay's protege....so there is nothing insubordinate about starting a political career from someone else's foundation. Ojukwu aggravated the problem by rejecting wise counsel from the likes of zik, okpara and ibiam. When he saw his loss coming, he ran away to ivory coast in the name of "exile" leaving the already battered people he was leading to lick their own wounds. For your information, ironsi NEVER created any mess, he was trying to placate the north and at the same time, bridle the excesses of his Igbo kinsmen. Did he make a mistake by APPOINTING ojukwu to run the eastern region? You anambarians think too much of yourselves. Boast all you can, but stop belittling others in the process. I don't hate ANAMBRA , there is even no such thing as anambra or abia or Enugu etc, Igbo bu Igbo. Igbo di otu. I |

pazienza: You sound exactly like how the rest of Nigeria sound towards Ndiigbo, and you can see how Nigeria has become worst off for it. If I ask you to list and explain how Zik exhibited arrogance towards the rest of Ndiigbo, you will run blank now, and start stuttering. Infact, do you mind listing Zik arrogant behavior towards other Igbos. It's a known fact that the Igbo nation as we have it today holds whatever degree of cohesion it had today to Zik ground breaking works, no Igbo man dead or alive had come close. Zik worked for all parts of Igboland. He worked closely with Nzimiro(Imo), Okpara (Abia), Akanu Ibiam (Ebonyi), Enugu ( Jim Nwobodo), etc. Zik came from Onitsha, a people who suffer from identity crisis, yet he gave so much to Ndiigbo than any dead or living Igbo man had.
Another empty emotional allegations. Stop making general statements. Tell me how Ojukwu exhibited arrogance towards other Igbos? Great men have self confidence which men of little substance out of envy characterize as arrogance. Look at Cristiano Ronaldo, Serena Williams, Mohammed Ali, etc. It's part of their winning mentality to be proud of their hardwork and exhibit confidence in their self.
If I ask you evidence of how Ojukwu exhibited arrogance towards other Igbos, you would run blank too.
Enugu is part Of Jim Nwobodo vicinity. Jim Nwobodo come from Amaechi Awkunanaw, which is part of Enugu capital city. So yes, ESUT was sited in his vicinity. Chimaraoke recently took the school to Agbani his home town. I bet it doesn't matter that Zik out of patriotic considerations decided to build UNN In Nsukka, but it would have mattered and be used to justify Anambra arrogance, had he decided to site it in Onitsha his home town, or neighbouring communities like Obosi, Nkpor, Ozeh, etc.
You see Anambra superiority complex, I see your own inferiority complex. It's same thing when Nigerians speak of Igbo superiority complex, when actually it's about their own inferiority complex. No Anambra person stopped you from celebrating the achievement of your own people, we actually join you to celebrate your achievements, I am a regular contributor to the Enugu thread. Yet each time Anambra person try to celebrate the Achievements of Ndi Anambra, the inferiority complex of people like you comes up, and you start accusing Anambra people of superiority complex. This behavior is not different from what the rest of Nigeria do to Ndiigbo. You need to kill off your inferiority complex, the problem is not Anambra, the problem is you.
Whatever glorious past Ndiigbo had in Nigeria was given to us by Zik. I had taken time to chronicle the situation of Ndiigbo in Nigerian state by 1948,before Zik took over. It was no better than the current political state we found ourselves in 2018, but Zik worked on it, and by 1960, we were near the top. What has your Ekweremmadu done for Ndiigbo? Is he not a mere lap dog to Saraki, how exactly has his current political post benefitted Ndiigbo? Isn't it telling that it's at a time, Ndiigbo has Ekweremmadu as the highest political office holder, that we had experienced the greatest ostracism from Nigerian political sphere? Ekweremmadu cannot even negotiate any thing for Ndiigbo, he is a bit too quiet and weighed down by skeletons in his cupboards, which the Caliphate had used to gag and prevent him from speaking up or fighting for injustice against Ndiigbo. Even the PDP VP slot, is not looking sure for Ndiigbo under Ekweremmadu docile leadership, Wike and the SS politicians have more say in PDP machinery than Ekweremmadu, is that the kind of leadership you wish on Ndiigbo?
Fresh from Civilwar, it was Zik political sagacity that ensured Ndiigbo got juicy posts from the government of the day? What has Ekweremmadu done for Ndiigbo? Ekweremmadu is exactly the prototype of the Igbo the Nigerians want, the type that stays quiet and don't fight and cause chaos to others, just to get equity for Ndiigbo. Just the perfect docile leader. Ekweremmadu is so small that outside his Enugu constituency, he commands no followership elsewhere in Igboland. How can you lead when you don't have charisma? How can you gather followership if you don't exhibit self confidence? Now you know the difference between your Ekweremmadu and Zik/Ojukwu.
Abribas were not Ibibios. Aro didn't turn them to anything. Bonny and Opobo are proudly Ijaw people today, they hate Ndiigbo. I'm member of their facebook pages, and I know the situation on ground. Moreover the Igbo group Opobo /Bonny have links with are Ndokis. I guess Ndiigbo would have to thank Aros for terrorizing and raiding our villages with their Abam and Ohafia mercenaries, ransacking and burning down villages to capture slaves they shipped down to Opobo and Bonny for sale to America, which resulted to many unsold Igbo slaves in Opobo and Bonny, staying behind there and became indigenes of those places, leading to the current Igbo language of those those places, right? We have to condemn Nri people who condemned and laid curses on those involved in slave trade.
See how you insecurities towards Ndi Anambra is inhibiting your rationality.
Another unsubstantiated talk. I was born and raised in Enugu. So there is nothing you would tell me about Enugu. Chimaraoke was notorious for his romance with Enugu cult boys, who he empowered. Political killings were rampant in Enugu during his era. He was also found to have looted Enugu treasury dry to the tune of billions, which led to EFCC coming for him, and resulted to closing down of ventures like Cosmo FM,Rainbownet, etc. He also left too many abandoned projects. Meanwhile, Mbadinuju was quickly toppled and was replaced with competent leaders in Anambra. Enugu has also done same, so as usual, you really have no point. Many Anambra people call Enugu home, because we have been here ever since Enugu has been capital of the East, we are not unaware of the minor prejudices Enugu people have towards ndi Agba enu , my aunty was sacked by Enugu people because she wasn't an indigene many Anambra people suffered for this, yet we don't hold it against ndi Enugu, we moved on.
Enugu is truly beautiful. But it also had a head start ahead of all other Igbo cities as the capital of Eastern region. Even till today, Enugu remain the defacto regional capital of SE. Nearly all regional government and private headquarters In SE are in Enugu, from EEDC to CBN. It has not come without benefits. What's more, Ndi Anambra contributed in making Enugu the city it is today, and continues to contribute more, even as we speak, because Enugu has always been a place we consider, despite how hard some minorities in Enugu had made it for us to exist here.
This is straight off Igbophobic pages of Nigerians. Remember I said that the resentment of Igbos like you towards Ndi Anambra, is fueled by the same inferiority complex that fuel Igbophobia from Nigerians towards Ndiigbo, I'm not surprised that you are repeating their lies. We had discussed this Onitsha pollution issue before, but it was with Yorubas, never knew I would one day has to debunk an Igbo propagating same falsehood.
When you decided to sack all other Igbos in your Civil Service over non Indigene issue, thousands of fellow Igbos who had spent their life time working for your govrnment sent home, setting a precidence which Abia repeated not long ago. You don't see that as insults to Ndiigbo, right?
When you have the temerity to compare highly cerebral and visionary Igbo leaders like Zik and Ojukwu and Ekwueme( we still remember how Jim Nwobodo campaigned vigorously against him in PDP primaries in 1999 and 2003, so much for Enugu Igbo solidarity, Huh? ) to current political jobbers in Igboland which Ekweremmadu leads? All because you want to talk down on Ndi Anambra, you don't see it as insult?
How many Aviation ministers had Ndiigbo produced before Stella Odua, with all of them playing docile and subservient silent politics, because they didnt want to be seen as loud mouthed or rocking the boat. Yet it was Stella who stood up and challenged the Yoruba cabals at the Aviation whose sole aim was to ensure Lagos monopoly on the airhub of Nigeria continued and saw Stella campaign to make Enugu Airport an international one, a direct threat to them? The little progress we had made in making Enugu an International airport is thanks to an Anambra woman. She was from Ogbaru Anambra, yet she fought for an international airport that was in Enugu, because she is a proud Igbo woman, the type that is vocal about Igbo interests, that Nigerians don't want. Have you ever given Ndi Anambra credit for the international airport we have Igboland today? Not that we expect any from you, but if you are going to exaggerate all perceived wrongs both real and illusional, Ndi Anambra has caused to Ndiigbo, then we must expect you to start giving us credits for the rights we did.
Ditto brother, ditto. The feeling is mutual. Such lengthy piece of empty braggadocio. You subtly projected ANAMBRA indigenes in the 'soup' of your analysis as if they were the only people who stood tall for ndigbo. What about Michael Okpara, the premier who established the eastern region as the fastest growing economy in Africa? Every sincere Igbo knows okpara ran the eastern region better than zik (his predecessor) and ojukwu (his successor) yet you don't see abians making noise. I don't intend making roll calls of abians, imolites, etc whose contributions to Igbo development was seminal. Let me not subtly project like you. The biafran war was not ojukwus fault, yet ojukwu didn't handle the war properly...every pundit knows this, only that they won't want to desecrate the memory and spirited effort of the man. We all know ANAMBRA is not the only state with FIRSTS so shove your superiority (subtle inferiority) complex. What about other states who celebrates their own yet you and your likes downplay them? The other day when abia celebrated their academic and economic clout despite many odds they are currently facing, your likes come down washing off any thing good about them |

Bede2u: Zik was arrogant....one of the reasons a country called Nigeria still stands today is because of gaffes he made to further his own political career.
Ojukwu was a lot more arrogant. Being the first uni graduate in Nigerian army, he saw himself as naploeon of some sorth and took his own opinions too seriously without realising wat is real and wat isnt.
As for zik building unn in nsukka, it doesnt mean much considering that many people have done similar things. Gowon could have made jos nigeria's capital or u can say that ESUT which was built in Enugu 1980 should have been built in jim nwobodo's nkanu?
U may not see it...or u may actually see it but decide to ignore it...but the superiority complex of people from anambra is nauseating....and childish too... Considering the fact that all the igbo leaders who ever came from there actually failed in their core objective (wat ever it was at the time)...all of them. From zik who wanted to govern nigeria to ojukwu who wanted to govern biafra to ekwueme who wanted to be president....all out manouvered by 'educationally challenged north'. But look at ekweremadu from enugu...see how he has remained relevant without being confrontational. Being loud is not being right. U wanna be right? Try might. Might is right. Look at Aro empire and Nri empire. While Aro turned ibibios (abiriba) and ijaws (bonny) into igbos the nri empire from 'omanbala' ended up losing so many igbo clans to benin.
Even while chimaroke was rebuilding enugu, u guys turned ur state into an arena of blood and poverty with bakassi et all and all but ran to enugu as refugees.
U guys come online and insult the rest of igbos and say things like 'anambra is destined to rule igbos'. Yet i cant for the life of me see wat u guys have specially achieved to be so loud. Most papers say the richest igbomen from south east are rochas or orji kalu while tge ruchest igboman is elumelu from delta. The most popular stars of igbo origin are equally spread among states. The political leader in igboland of today is ekweremadu from enugu. why u guys havent realised the dignity and strenght in being calm is wat i dont knw. The loudest igbos are from anambra and ur brash ways have many times led to the death of igbos...or to igbos making unnessesary enemies.
I come from enugu. Enugu is one of the most beautiful cities in nigeria (special thanks to sullivan chime). Enugu was capital of so many entities...including biafra and old anambra state.
While onitsha was making the list of most poluted cities in the world, enugu was in the list of most resilient cities
But u can never see an enugu man feeling superior nor insult other igbos. The OMANBALA1 who just said the silliest thing i have ever read since i started following this thread is actually a guy whose post i have always liked in the past and who i respect a lot. But as a tru 'omanbala' (wateva that word means), he has to come and say that he is anambra 1st and igbo 2nd. As If if he goes to lagos..lets see whether he would be called anambraboy or igboboy.
I personally wouldnt have wrote this post...but once in a while u just have to tell someone how they are. Thank you my brother. Someone needs to shut these guys up. Politics › Re: This For Abians In Nairaland- Support For Dr. Alex Otti For Governor. by superlightning: 1:28pm On Sep 19, 2018 |
Iceathome: APGA as a party has a RELATIVELY coherent political master plan that is uniform but unfortunately, the party hasn't really controlled many states. But what they have on ground speaks for them. Consider Peter Obi, Obiano and Rochas Okorocha in his first tenure (before he veered off on his own accord to join these musketeers) show a consistent legacy of focus on welfarist orientation and long-term plan of economic solidification. Otti has multiple programs along that line. For instance, there's an Aba master plan that stretches the Aba metropolis to as far as Ukwa, with various PPP and private-sector-driven viable housing estates development aimed at the middle class business people in Aba to Own houses and to decongest the current Aba city. There is also provision for low-cost housing but the emphasis is on creating house OWNERS and not just offering the people housing for tenantry residence. This way the State will greatly combat the sociological and economic burden and nuisance on the state associated with people living decades in Aba without having a home of their own. Payment for these houses would stretch over many years, like we have in western countries. The industrialization policy is something else and it will be fast. But it starts with providing the infrastructures that will make viable economic activities and industrialization feasible.
Unknown to many, as far back as late 2014, Alex Otti had contracted a foreign consortium on his own that carried out an airborne survey of Aba and came up with a strategic development masterplan of the City. This explains why he kept saying he would create a Ministry of Aba Affairs once elected as Abia State governor by 2019. He maintains that Aba will generate the resources to develop it, like Lagos State because the city's potentials are enormous.
Alex Otti also has a plan to integrate our rural communities with the urban centers by connecting them with roads. Alex Otti plans to develop farming communities in Abia.
In Otti we stand I am not doubting otti's technocratic pedigree, but am asking, how politically sensitive and dexterous is he in taming the political rashness Nigeria practices? Rochas and Peter obi were former apga flyers, why exactly did they leave? I know apga has been factionalized? What caused it? Pls enlighten me, maybe I may soon begin to blow apga's trumpet if am convinced |
