I wonder how abia state go achieve that without others support coz the last time I checked my governors and our senators and elected representatives are totally against that boy kanu.

H can't command our respect, is never done.
He doesn't need your respect. He already has a LOT OF IT. We saw how governors and senators shiver at the sound of his voice. Some even wanted to befriend him. We saw all that.

However, IPOB wants a referendum, and there is nothing bad with that. Biafra isn't an overnight thing, ipob knows that quite well. So referendum decides whether they move ahead or terminate. Simple.

Obiano, Rochas, ikpeazu, and co should stop shitting on their pants because of KANU.

KANU commands tremendous respect that your governors can only dream of.

Biafra can only be achieved when we all decide it will be achieved. For now, its a pressure group pushing for referendum, which by and large will indirectly push for better governance amongst pro-nigerians, and I like it that way. But in time, when the chips are down, a referendum will be conducted. Ipob will know whether the east wants a separate country or to remain in Nigeria.

In national matters, nations don't show love to Nations who show hate to them. You show an even greater hate to groups How show hate towards you. If they know you hate and wouldn't waste time to fatally decimate them, should they try to exhibit their hate towards you, it would keep them in check.
Take a look at Israel and how she deals with surrounding hateful nations around her. She replies their hate with even more hate. Throw one bomb at Israel and Israel would throw several bombs at their living quarters and market places, decimating both their young and women alike in the process, ensuring the are left in anguish and pain. Which would serve as deterance to them in future. What stops nations from attacking each other is not love, it's hate. It's called MAD. Once you know that the other nation is capable of administering the kind of hate you have towards them, towards you, it keeps every one in check, and ensures relative peace reigns. Once you give any group the impression that they can exhibit hate towards you, without getting burnt by a greater hate from you to them in the process, you have made yourself a sitting duck.
This is group survival 101.

That's how it works.

Trust is a delicate issue, once broken can never be repaired.
Ikwerre and other Igbo hating Igboid groups can never be truly accepted into Igbo nation again. There will be lingering issue of suspicion. I can never truly accept an Ikwerre man that says he is Igbo, I would immediately see him as an opportunist or a mole, and he would have to do alot of convincing via his works to win me over, and when he is done with such, he would likely look back and observe that he isnt truly welcomed.
I understand where you are coming from, TRUST ISSUES. For the fact that they have been forgiven and welcomed back into fold does not mean you trust them. They will have to earn the trust, I know. Here are a few things to do in checking them while reabsorbing them :

1. Sensitive Igbo leadership posts must be censored from them. They themselves will understand why, until they prove beyond every reasonable doubt, to earn our trust. A cheating spouse may still be accommodated by other because of a lot of factors, but when it comes to sex, flirting, fidelity issues, they will be kept at an arms length.

2. While embracing them as igbos , riot act will be read to them on the consequence of going back to their vomit. That will let them know that there are irreconcilable consequences of denying their brothers TWICE.

I don't care about Ohaneze or their likes. Kanu as a person might be a good orator but his youthful exuberance spoilt everything. If he had channelled the goodwill properly he would have been a political key player in deciding elections in the SE. But he started preaching of non election starting with Anambra as if a single state a election means much.

He would have used ipob as a political tool to influence elections and subsequently enthrone people that can push for referendum in the legislative assembly.

Well he has done his own bit.
MASSOB used that tactics, yet they got compromised, conflicted and corrupted by Nigerian politics.

David Cameron of britain understands how fantastically corrupt nigerian politicians are.

By the way, KANU didn't stop those who wanted to vote from voting. He only exonerated ipob from taking part in elections considering how corrupt southeast politicians are from Abia to IMO to ANAMBRA to Enugu to Ebonyi .

As for the emboldened, I wish it were true, but it isn't. Too many Igbos expend far too much effort on Igboid groups with identity crises. This only succeeds in hardening the resolve of these groups and they adopt a siege mentality against what they believe to be an external threat. It also flatters their egos and makes them feel rather important to believe we care that much about them. They wouldn't spend so much time dissociating themselves from the Igbo nation if we stop trying to shove our identity down their throats. Leave the identity debates to their intellectuals to argue over.
Thank you my brother. I see reason with what you said. These igboid feel too important because we make them feel so.

I wonder how you engage in a conversation. Your post sounds juvenile.

Almost every group of people claim to be Gods chosen people. The only reason why you know that of Israel is because you are of christian background or of western ideology.

That said, you should know that in Israel's nascent days, they stealthily built their nation WITHOUT ARROGANTLY BOASTING to their neighbours. US, UK, etc was their mouthpiece.

Today, they can boast as much as much as they want because they have the highest number of inventors (e.g Einstein), Economists (Karl Marx) and religious figures (Mary, David, Jesus, etc) and most of all, THEY ARE Today, ONE OF THE STRONGEST AND TECHNOLICALLY ADVANCED NATION ON EARTH. Its their time to boast, why wont they? And most of all, their enemies are OPENLY threatening their existence as a people, yet they succeeded above their neighboring enemies technologically, economically and militarily.

As for we Igbo, we are still nascent in our nationhood. We must be careful with our habit of exhibitionism and arrogance.

Stop acting juvenile. Respond like a grown-up

Obi1kenobi:
Interesting...you for at least quote me, nah....let me know someone was attacking me, rather than copy and pasting comments.
1) Not every Igbo on Nairaland believe what you claim. There are something like half a dozen of you that assert it all the time.
2) They do it because their ego is bruised from being told hard truths - and double-bruised when the hard truths come from a kinsman. Delegitimizing my origin soothes their ego better. Reminds me of an American website a few weeks ago where some black Americans claimed criticisms of Serena William's tirade at the umpire in a match was motivated by racism. When I pointed out that as a black person, I resent seeing racism trivialized and playing the race card to cover bad behavior from black people, these black Americans claimed I'm just a white troll impersonating a black person. People who embrace the hive mentality and group-think don't cope very well with criticism from one of their own. Jewish critics of Israel come in for pretty savage attacks from the hardline right of the pro-Israel lobby.

Anyone that reads my comments in a recent thread like this:
https://www.nairaland.com/4728283/brazil-adopts-yoruba-official-language/6#71192797
or my posting history and comes away thinking I'm some impersonating Yoruba posing as Igbo is beyond help. But whatever helps you feel better is okay.

Whether I'm Igbo or not, I criticize whoever the hell I want, whenever I want, however I want. I need no one's permission. Also, there is nowhere I ever said only Igbo people brag - so that's just a strawman distortion. I've been clear that this brash arrogance is disproportionately prevalent among Igbos. Igbos are Nigeria's biggest supremacists. We're well famed for it. It is among Igbos you hear nonsense about being "the most intelligent black race" (there's one snapshot like that meatheads like to post here asserting the rubbish). It's Igbos that love to insult Northerners as basically low IQ subhumans (the only people on Nairaland I've ever shut down for saying Northerners are low IQ people are all Igbos with no exception). It's Igbos that are obsessed with appropriating an alien culture as their own (claiming to be Jews) because they believe it to elevate them over other black ass niggas. Yes, I'd say Igbos do it more than other groups.

Demonstrate? No, I have conducted no scientific study "demonstrating" it and no one is interested in such a study. I have lived and interacted long enough with other Nigerians to state obvious group perceptions. I stated what every Nigeria group knows. If you conducted a poll among all Nigerian groups as to the most arrogant, insufferable group in Nigeria, Igbos would win in a landslide. I know this. You know this, despite the bravado. We all know this. But keep waiting for my Newtonian demonstration to establish the reality.

Well, for such a "hampered" group, the Yorubas seem to have done pretty well for themselves home and abroad. And don't seem to aggravate other groups in Nigeria as much as Igbos while succeeding. That gives me pause. Another strawman you've created is looking to make out that I am blaming Igbos for all the resentment they attract. I have said that "there is plenty of blame to go around", but pointed out Igbo behavior that contributes to this. Yorubas for example aren't as widely distributed around Nigeria as Igbos which might contribute to why there isn't as much conflict between them and other groups as with Igbos and their host communities. All I sought to point out was how Igbos contribute to the perception about them rather than solely arrogating blame to them. Case in point was your nonsensical point about Aniomas yesterday making it out like many of them reject Igbo identity because they are somehow jealous of us and fearful of our competitive dominance (nevermind that Aniomas are one of Nigeria's most successful clans). Arrogance like that contributes to the perception of Igbos in Nigeria, and contributes to the identity crisis of Igboid groups.
It's interesting that you talk about "herd mentality" with no sense of irony, when you think any self-critical Igbo man is an impostor because you're intolerant of his views. You encapsulate everything about herd mentality.

I wasn't trying to change you, sunshine. I already asserted before that whatever you imagine me to be doesn't change a single hair on my head. A couple of Nairalanders (including one of the bigger mischief makers, Chino) know my real name - probably from my interactions on a job or NYSC thread years ago, or an email address I once posted. Calling me an "afonja" or aboki or whatever you choose is your prerogative on an anonymous internet forum. We have no restrictions to our foolishness here.
Well nailed. I must admit for once that i agree with you. The dude even said I was another one of your monikers.
