pazienza: Imagine how these group of Igbo people are without pride or dignity.
Listen to Wike comments right before the stadium was named Gowon stadium. Remember that that same stadium was initially named Liberation stadium in 1970, in reference to their alleged liberation by Gowon and Nigerians from Igbo oppressors who sought to kill them and possess their lands.
Now in 2017, as if to rob salt to injury, they renamed it Gowon stadium.
“Many of us, who are now enjoying the fruits of liberty, may not truly appreciate what it meant to be dominated, dispossessed, deprived, exploited and oppressed, in your own land by the dominant social and political tendencies of the time. “Before Rivers State was created, our people could not find schools in their neighbourhood, hospitals to treat the sick, universities to educate their children, decent jobs to earn income and good roads to their communities.”
https://www.tribuneonlineng.com/36078/ It is your type that aggravate the Igbophobia we already have. Gowon apologized to the asaba igbos and by extension other Igbo where acts tantamount to genocide were carried out. Google and stop spewing hate here. If I should name my street GOWON STREET, how does it take away my igbo culture? Its just politics! Do you how may edifices and structures named after the likes of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Alvan ikoku, Ndubuisi KANU, aguiyi Ironsi, ebitu ukiwe, etc in other parts of Nigeria? Its pure politics! OK stop using the 20naira note and 100naira notes in your ANAMBRA or Enugu, etc because the men whose portrait are there instigated Igbo genocide, okay? Guo ishi gi. |

xfactor23: Bro, I was with a chief in Choba, an Ikwerre chief, who told me to my face that Ikwerre are Igbos, but the Nigerian politics have done a lot of damages that will take time and a lot of effort from both divide to heal. Its in our hands to correct this errors. Germany was once a fragmented state, orchestrated by her enemies in the then old Europe, it took one man, Ottoman Von Bismarck, to unite Germany. Igbo case cannot be different. If you allow emotion to keep getting on your senses, then you will keep repeating the same mistake. Its high time we give those that are genuinely working for our unification to play their part before we jump into conclusion. Thank you my brother. Ignore pazienza. He still reasons like a juvenile |

pazienza: Ikwerre non Igbo claim is nolonger a matter of politics, it's now cultural, it's ingrained inside every Ikwerre youth, they believe it and defend it violently, if need be.
Igbo ministers and governors don't deny being Igbo, so I don't know what your point is. I was in Ndi Anambra facebook page when some one posted congratulatory messages for Nigeria on first October, only to be descended on and castigated by Majority of Ndi Anambra there, with many telling the poster that they are not Nigerians. It tells you the mindset of the average Igbo man. Because those people there are the commoners. We All know that the political elites only stand for their selfish interests. The Ikwerre commoners and elites are united in their Igbophobia. It's a different ball game. Go to Ikwerre facebook book pages and confirm this. Go to PH city and confirm this. Some of you might choose to live in denial, but the majority of us would nolonger accept to do so. The Ijaw call the Ikwerre Igbos because they know Ikwerres hate being called Igbos. Down there in Rivers state, they had reduced the word Igbo to a thing of curse. When a Rivers State group want to insult the other, they call them "Igbos". That's how these people had degraded our ethnic pride, with the help of Igbos like you who have no self dignity and would continue sucking up to them. Nobody is balkanizing Igboland. The Igboland our fathers know is no more, the Igboland we have today is SE plus Oyigbo, it's the Igboland we had known since we were born (most of us were born after the war), hence we must work with it. When you accept your limitations, no one would use it against you. Ndiigbo have to accept the reality starring us on our faces today, the more we deny this reality, the more we would suffer. Pazienza, your grammar is not enough to REDRAW THE IGBO MAP OF OVER 5000 years old. ASA, ndoki have their kins in abia state answering same name in abia state. You won't change their ethnicity for them. You are balkanizing igboland and I will not support such. Stop living only in the present. You know nothing about the future. |

GuyWise: Politics? Is that a reason for a Gov who may claim in the future to culturally to be Igbo name a State project after the name of a man who killed over 3m of his people and destroyed the cities of his kinsmen...
Was it also politics that made these same people to seize buildings and land that were not theirs?
Politics is not the problem, hatred is the problem and now we are out to give them double of the hatred. Naming stadiums and roads can be changed overnight. Even Gowon knelt down and apologized to the igbos. He saw his stupidity and showed remorse. Double hatred isnt Igbo philosophy. I wash my hands off it. |

pazienza: We were all here when Amaechi was furious with GEJ for granting Abia State her disputed oil wells Rivers state claimed. Amaechi showed his true colors, when he asked GEJ, if "they" (Rivers) are now Biafrans (Igbos). In essence he was subtly reminding GEJ that it is only Igbos that her oil wells had been agreed to be stripped of, by the Nigerian government. GEJ giving those oil wells to Abia State, is akin to giving Rivers people, the Biafran treatment. Recall how Mammar Nasir boundary adjustment committee in 1976 took away Oil producing parts of old Imo state Now called Egbema and Obigbo and added to Rivers state.
But today, whenever it's convenient for Amaechi to escape Igbo criticism, he tells us that he is Igbo, and gullible Igbos would be too blind to see through this charade. Amaechi claim Igbo, yet he is the minister of transport under whose regime a railway scheme was being proposed that totally skipped SE. Under his regime, SE AIIA has been left to rot while PH airport keeps receiving all the attention needed.
Ndiigbo, Iberibe Anyi ehiena nne . Don't even start with that of ministers How Igbo ministers and governors have done well for their people? That's why I see you keep blending culture with politics. Ikwerrre can claim anything in the name of politics, but they know who they are culturally. Ask an ijaw man what they call an ikwerre man, they are igbos! They say it to ikwerre peoples faces! They ikwerre, just want to be politically distinct, leave them to their fate. But don't allow them deceive you into balkanizing igboland. It is internationally known that igboland stretches from agbor to port Harcourt. Any other issue after that is simply geoPOLITICS. |

But then, I understand Igbo history. Politically Igbo are decentralized, while remaining one culturally. Onitsha people don't see themselves as core Igbo even. They call others onye-igbo. Does that mean we should cut Onitsha off too? |

pazienza: We did nothing to Igbos Of Delta. They are the ones who continued denying Ndiigbo, go to Onu Ika or Ukwuani facebook page and tell them they are Igbo and get the same Ikwerre treatment, albeit attenuated.
Infact, the only reason we are not preaching same message agains anioma as we are preaching about Ikwerres is because of the voices of reason from Oshimili and Aniocha.
Ikwerre rejecting Igbo tag is consequential. You water down the value of the Igbo tag, if you allow people to be Igbo today and non Igbo tomorrow. You can't have people of divided loyalty in your group and claim its inconsequential, are you even listening to yourself? Nope, we wouldn't leave them with their identity crisis, as it's affecting us all. A situation where a person whose people are not Igbos would come and start attaching to Ndiigbo in bid to take our share of the national cake, is not to be condoned. You keep mixing CULTURE with POLITICS. I am from Abia. Umuahia is my hometown. We in Abia have cultural affinity with upland rivers, especially obiookpor, ndoki and ASA. These are core Igbo communities in river state. Pls Google it up or more information. Obiookpor is somewhat considered ikwerre too, They are militantly Igbo. What do you say to that? Some of The ikwerre that I know are proudly igbo. I will not be so quick to condemn all of them. |
Politics › Re: . by superlightning: 9:35am On Oct 08, 2018 |
pazienza: All the official ethnic groups in SS have come out under their national bodies to denounce being associated with Biafra. They don't want your referendum, they said you should confine it within SE, their elites have been vocal about it on pages of newspapers, their commoners have been hateful about it on pages of social media, still you IPOB people will not get the memo, you would rather continue disgracing Ndiigbo.
I watched Ogbako Ikwerre national convention in Atlanta Georgia in 2015 during the heat of ipob and Nnamdi Kanu revolution, Celestine Omehia, the former Ikwerre Rivers state governor, dedicated up-to 20mins of his speech to Ikwerre people, deriding Ndiigbo and Biafra struggle. He made it categorically clear that Ikwerre is not Biafra nor Igbo, he wondered why Biafrans(Igbos) wouldn't let go of Ikwerre after Ikwerre has continually rejected Ndiigbo. He then said that Ikwerre has no ancestral link with Ndiigbo, that Ikwerre people originated from Bini, he received overwhelming applause from the Ikwerre audience present at that gathering, and not even one person challenged him.
Restrict your referendum stance to SE. Tomorrow people from these same areas will come out and say that omehia does not speak or them. Are you also aware the obiookpor in river state stood with IPOB in 2017? Ndoki, ASA are all parts of abia state but a part of these communities were balkanized to river state. Are you not aware? You are either ANAMBRA or ENUGU so you won't know. Are you aware that there is IPOB thriving in every local government area of river state. By the way did obiano, an Igbo man, speak in favour of ipob? So its not about ikwerrre or no ikwerre. Its about the individual. |

luvmijeje: I have read the last five or six pages of this thread and it confirms my issues with the Igbos. Hatred.
Even if the PDP picked an Igbo for a vice-president, every other region will all afraid of you. Funnily enough when it comes to violence, the Northerners have prove to be more violent that you all. Una issue is your mouth and pride. Politics required foresight and the Igbos lack it.
Forget the Vice-president because your hatred spare headed by Kanu is still recent in the heart of other Nigerians. Focus on the next four years when both parties will present a southern candidates if the PDP loses. In the mean time, reduce your hatred.
Why am I doing all this? I have a friend who's father is Igbo and who's mother is Yoruba. He will be president in the next four years. But how can he be President when his kinsmen are playing kindergarten politics. Stop hating other tribes publicly. Stop poisoning your people with hatred. If you know what it is to be Igbo in an igbophobic society you won't be vomitting all these things you are saying. I personally don't believe in hating back. But igbophobia has made igbo bitter too. Stop barking at the wrong tree. Go and talk to your people and their northern allies. Stop preaching to us here. |

In Nigeria politics of today, anything for Igbo should considered FIRST in the SE before scanning IGBO communities in SS. |

I am aware of all you have said. You are right, But let them use their hands to officially remove themselves from the old biafran map via referendum. That's the game plan IPOB has. You know why? How can i keep ignoring them without looking desperate. Even without ss igbos, plus even without the millions of igbos outside SE, we are still a large people.
If not for the biafran dream, why do we need ss igbos? They are the one who need us. The only way a ss igbo can attain national position in nigeria is if we are supporting him...but we from SE can attain national position without them. Nobody sees them without seeing us. Nobody sees uche secundus or ifeanyi okowa without seeing igbo...but we can show ourselves without showing them. Let them be the one to look for us. As for me, ikwerre being or not being Igbo is inconsequential to me. If the ikwerre identifies as Igbo, I will identify with him. But if he rejects being Igbo then I reject him too as well. NO HARD FEELINGS. Despite knowing their Igbo heritage, I won't go begging them to be Igbo. However, i still have a friend of mine from diobu who keeps ringing it in my ears that his father tells them that they are unapologetic Igbos along with obiokpor, ndoki, Asa, who all share similar dialects with communities in abia south. So pls, I won't reject ALL ikwerre. Never. I will treat them as Igbo on an individual level, but as a people, I consider them IGBOID because of their identity crisis. |

If we do our duty here right, it will snowball to the outter igbo society to hate ikwerre without reason I don't agree with you. It will have a boomerang effect. This was the same thing you guys did to Igbos in delta whereby they accused you guys of denying them their Igboness. Not all of them agrees with what some handful ika are saying. You almost hardened their resolve against identifying with their larger igbo kins.I won't be a party to it. Stop wasting your precious time and energy. If I see an ikwerre who has proven to be Igbo all along, then I won't reject him. Ikwerre accepting or rejecting their igboness is inconsequential to me. Leave them with their identity crisis. Those who identify with us will be identified with, and those who reject us will be rejected as well. |
