They are different path guy.
We have professional plumbers even caterers.
We all cannot be Medical doctors or Engineers.
When most of these graduates still go back to something they swore never to do. That years in the University+ NYSC+ years looking for job would have been put into acquiring a skill and become a better person. Well, most graduates fantasize about White collar job and face a rude shock.
I have always said it that if you want a tertiary education, do it with a plan.do not study just " any course".
Something that cannot be applied almost immediately in our environment is not worth studying in the University.

It is not necessarily wrong for people to switch careers or skill (per se). This is because a lot of them were not able to find or discover their selves ON TIME. They later realize that they cannot cope with the present career or skill they have acquired, so they seek vocational guidance from the professionals who counsel them into discovering what they REALLY want and can thrive on.

It really isn't a waste of time if the new found career and old one goes with their personality traits. There are various theories to this - John holland theory, Social system theory, etc....

Well detailed write-up OP.
Truth is, when most of my friends(both graduates and undergraduates) so much emphasize on the need to become an entrepreneur and create employment, I only see this type of conversation as talks from an unenlightened/confused fellow.

We need to understand that Skills acquisition and Education are two different parts which leads to same ends(self accomplishment).

Am not saying Skills Acquisition is bad, but why waste so much money and years in the university only to turn back and start learning skills again. Better to choose one from the onset and master any of the choosen career.

No matter how bad the economy might be, those who have gained enough mastery in their field of study will live and not just survive the economy.

What skill are you referring to?

Is it Vulcanizing, Catering, hairdressing, Sewing, Carpentry, Plumbing etc, as compared to mental and research oriented skills like quantum mechanics, data processing, medicine, law, education, architecture, etc?

"Who Is IPOB To Tell People To Sit At Home?" - Umahi Blows Hot, Fires Nnamdi Kanu

The Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of Governor David Nweze Umahi, on Saturday, lambasted the Indigenous People Of Biafra and its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu over call to sit-at-home on 1st October, 2020, Igbere TV reports.

Speaking in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, the
Commissioner for Internal Security and Border Peace, Stanley Emegha urged people of the state to ignore the directive by the Indigenous People of Biafra, and go about their normal activities on October 1.

According to the state government, IPOB lacked the capacity to tell anyone to sit at home.

He said, “Who is IPOB to tell people to sit at home. That is the height of craziness on their side. They talk to people as if they are things.

“How can you tell people who have a family to sit at home, to do what? Will you come and put food on their table?

“In the first place, we don’t even know if there is anything like IPOB existing in the state. People should disregard the said statement and go about their normal businesses on that day.

He said the proscribed group did not have the right to tell people to sit at home.

“People have fundamental human rights of movement, if you try to restrict their rights to move about and transact their lawful business activities you are crossing the red line.

“If anyone tries to force people to sit at home, the Police will not fail to deal decisively with such persons.”

IGBERE TV recalls that IPOB, had in a statement, ordered Biafran agitators and the Igbo to stay at home, on October 1.

From this thread posted earlier concerning Nigerian sustainability index I think new states can be made from the above states I mentioned since they're all viable and don't owe much and can sustain themselves
https://www.nairaland.com/6142031/top-5-nigerian-states-fiscal
Link above for those who haven't seen it

Then Abia should be merged to their neighbours in Imo and Ebonyi states since they're not viable..

Meanwhile oyo, kwara, osun, Ekiti and Lagos should be merged together since they can't survive on their own as a state.. I hope this makes sense cool

Alaigbo to the whole world cool

1. Stupidity looks good on you.

2. Stop causing division among ndigbo.

3. You can't even analyze statistics from the NBS chart.

4. Abia is neither poor nor unsustainable on a long-term basis, they only need consistent strongwill from leaders.

Politics / Re: APC Blames Oshiomhole For Defeat In Edo, Wants Him Sanctioned by superlightning: 6:59pm On Sep 20, 2020
bolaayenimo:
Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Edo State chapter on Sunday said Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, immediate past National Chairman of the party should be held responsible for the party’s loss in Saturday’s governorship election which was won by Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Barr. Anselm Ojezua, the Edo state chairman of APC said the result of the election has vindicated his position that Oshiomhole’s dictatorial attitude will lead to the downfall of the party in the state.

While calling on the party leadership to sanction Oshiomhole, Ojezua said members of the APC in Edo may be forced to review their membership of the party if disciplinary action is not taken against the former Edo state governor.

I think the position of Edo APC, prior to the disqualification of Governor Godwin Obaseki has been vindicated. Before that, the Edo APC had already reached a consensus with Obaseki as the candidate but Oshiomhole thought otherwise”.

“He abused his office as National chairman, pushed the governor out of the party and you can see that the beneficiary is now PDP.

The result of his illegal actions is what we witnessed today. I don’t see how APC can recover from this”.

“Oshiomhole factionalised the party, created a faction in the name of EPM, brought a candidate from outside the party and forced him down the throat of the party. They campaigned without the party behind them and they expected to win. This is the result”.

“That was why I said I will not speak until after the election and now I have been vindicated. If I spoke before the election, they will say it is anti-party. Now we know who has done anti-party”.

"Honestly, if the party does not do anything to sanction Oshiomhole, then we in Edo APC will have to review our membership of that party, because we gave notice, we warned the party, we petitioned the leadership; there is nothing we did not do to salvage the situation within the last 15 to 18 months”.

“The party only took steps after Obaseki has left which is an irredeemable loss. Everyone can see the result now”.

Suck it up....eat the humble pie. What if APC was declared winner? what would have been your reaction?

Politics / Re: Okorocha: No More APC, What Is Left Of APC Is Just Respect For Buhari by superlightning: 6:55pm On Sep 20, 2020
Osagyefo98:
founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has said that only respect for President Muhammadu Buhari is all that is left of the APC and that the crisis rocking the party was part of consequences for relegating the founding members.

Okorocha who addressed some journalists on Sunday in Abuja said that there is no more APC.

According to him, the party that is smarting from internal crisis after the 2019 general elections, died the day the leadership abandoned the progressive and democratic ideals on which it was founded.

Okorocha, who is also the Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District, said that apart from President Buhari, the other leaders of the political blocks that merged to form the party in 2015, were practically schemed out by forces that later joined the party.

“Permit me to give you the inside of APC, this word APC was formed by four major political parties that had governors, one was the CPC led by President Muhammadu Buhari, ACN led by Ahmed Tinubu, ANPP led by Ogbonnaya Onu who all brought their structure, APGA led by me brought in our structure. Every other person fell into this structure. The PDP group came in and joined us. I gave the name APC. I designed that logo and that was the beginning of the party and we had understanding.

“That is the party you call APC and unless we go back to where it all started, APC can never see the light of the day and that was how we started and that was what brought President Muhammadu Buhari to office.

You cannot rule out the role of these four key people, then CPC has only one governor in Nasarawa, APGA had only one governor, ACN came with the chunk of the governors and ANPP had a few. And we shared the first positions equally among these four parties. Now the founding fathers of the part are relegated to the backgrounds and people are coming with different interests making us play the same kind of politics that PDP played,” Okorocha said.

He added, “There is no more APC, what we have is the respect for President Muhammadu Buhari, that is what is keeping us together. What we have is our respect for the person of President Buhari and we still believe that something can be done.

“That trust and respect is what we still call APC, outside that, respect for President Buhari and the trust and belief that he could wake up one day and correct all these injustices and make it fine. That is the only thing that is keeping the APC, if not that, I don’t think there is anything like APC because people are beginning to get fed up. Again, PDP is not even better, the party has its own challenges.

Rochas we didn't ask for any inside take on APC, are you indirectly announcing that you will soon decamp?
