The guy isn't mentally ready for marriage plus his financial status can't really sustain a family. Marriage is not a one day thing, after the wedding..thats when life actually begins, those people present on the wedding day won't be there to endure with you if eventually the marriage turns source simply because of desperation. I bet the lady in question was acting that way due to peer pressure not necessarily because she wants to spend the rest of her life with the guy. She must have witnessed her friends and colleagues getting married every saturday which triggered that jealousy spirit plus the pressure from family hence she was ready to even sponsor the wedding so as to show off to people.

The guy on the other hand no try, he should have presented his future plans to her and his plans for her as well.
But hey, they both enjoyed the relationship during the duration it lasted so its unfair to blame either of the party because they both benefited from each other.
