David Moyes' side are still seeking a first victory in 2014, having lost each of the three games they have played in January thus far. One of those defeats came against Swansea in the FA Cup last weekend, when Wilfried Bony's late header secured a maiden win at Old Trafford for the Welsh club and progression to the fourth round. Although United have now lost four of their last six home matches in all competitions, Swansea manager Michael Laudrup expects a stiff test this weekend as the reigning Premier League champions seek to respond to criticism. "We've shown it is possible (to win) if you believe in it," the Dane said. "In recent games we have played with a lot of confidence, and we just needed a win. "I think it will be more difficult than last week. I expect them to come at us and they have to win this game. "We have to be ready for that because we know it will be tough." United currently sit seventh in the English top flight, five points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool and 11 behind leaders Arsenal. A 2-1 defeat at Sunderland on Tuesday in the first leg of a League Cup semi-final left Moyes frustrated, although he is hopeful his men can recover. "I can sense in the dressing room that there's an urge to fight our current position," the Scot told United's official website. Wayne Rooney could return to the United squad as the club continue to manage his groin problem, but Robin van Persie is still unavailable with a thigh injury. Jonny Evans (knock) and Phil Jones (knee) are in contention, but Nani (hamstring) and Marouane Fellaini (wrist) are definitely out. Swansea's injury crisis is slowly beginning to diminish, although Pablo Hernandez (hamstring), Roland Lamah (abductor), Michel Vorm (knee) and Michu (ankle) remain on the sidelines. |
A man takes his seat at the World Cup Final. He looks to his left and notices that the there is a spare seat in between himself and the next guy. “Who would ever miss the World Cup final?” Asks the man. “That was my wife’s seat. We have been to the last five World Cup finals together, but sadly she passed away.” Explains the guy. “That’s terrible, but couldn’t you get another member of the family, friend or someone else to come with you?” Asks the man. “No…..They are all at the funeral!” |
I just pray he makes the first team quickly. |
Manchester City have wrapped up a deal for highly-rated Nigerian teenager Kelechi Iheanacho and are applying for a work permit. City's incredible Nigerian wonderkid deal done The 17-year-old forward was the standout performer at the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in November, landing the Golden Ball with six goals as his Nigeria side stormed to the title. His performances led to an unseemly scramble between clubs, agents and even family members with claims that he had been kidnapped emerging at one stage, but it appears to have finally been resolved with City winning the race for his signature. A £250,000 transfer fee had been agreed, with a further £300,000 for the Taye Academy in Owerri, Nigeria where he was educated and £350,000 to Iheanacho's father, James. The player is currently in Barcelona awaiting his UK work permit hearing after an incredible operation involving Spanish agents and contacts in Africa to get him out of the country where he was born. Gus Poyet has urged his Sunderland players to put a "nightmare" season to one side and relish the chance to reach the Capital One Cup final. The Barclays Premier League's bottom club host faltering Manchester United at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday evening in the first leg of their semi-final showdown. United's visit to Wearside comes against the backdrop of an intensely difficult few months for the Uruguayan and his players, who have won only three league games all season, two fewer than they have managed in the domestic cup competitions. However, while top-flight survival remains the overwhelming priority, Poyet insists the chance to claim a famous scalp and book a trip to Wembley is one which should excite his beleaguered troops. The 46-year-old said: "It's the nice part, the nicest. It's nice to come here and talk about a semi-final and not talk about points and relegation. "I would like to say it's the nicest part of the season because the rest has been a nightmare with the position in the table, so let's try to enjoy this one and go on and do something important for the club." If Sunderland head into the game with major challenges ahead of them, their opponents are entrenched in the sort of crisis which has not visited Old Trafford for more than two decades. Manager David Moyes finds himself in the firing line with his side currently trailing Premier League leaders Arsenal by 11 points and having been dumped out of the FA Cup in the third round by Swansea at the weekend. The Swans became the fifth visiting side to win at Old Trafford to date this season with West Brom, Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham having previously done so. However, Poyet insists the fear factor has not diminished. He said: "No, I don't think so, no. Seriously, no, because it's not about being scared or not. "I have got different experiences against Manchester United - with Chelsea, we were pretty good against them, and with Tottenham, we were not good enough, and I don't think we were more or less scared. "I went on the pitch with the same attitude, just to do my job and help my team. "But overall, they are normally better than you, so you need to make sure you are spot- on." Manchester United manager Moyes is expected to recall a number of big names. Wayne Rooney, Michael Carrick, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra and David de Gea are all set to return after sitting out Sunday's shock FA Cup home defeat by Swansea. Robin van Persie (thigh) and Phil Jones (knee) are unlikely to be involved. Marouane Fellaini (wrist), Ashley Young (shoulder) and Nani (hamstring) are definitely out, Fabio starts a three-match ban and Rio Ferdinand faces a spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee at the weekend. And though United were without seven senior players and had substitute Fabio sent off just four minutes after his introduction in the second-half following an injury to Rio Ferdinand, Moyes did not try to defend the situation. "No (not an excuse to have seven players out)," said Moyes. "We have another big game in 48 hours time so we had to keep that in mind but there are no excuses. "We had a very strong team out. Just about every player on the pitch was an international." Ferdinand looks set for a spell on the sidelines after limping off with a knee problem, although Michael Carrick and, possibly, Rooney, will be fit for the Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg at Sunderland on Tuesday. "You can definitely see we are lacking that little bit of confidence when we get into the final third at times," he said. "We need to get back to winning ways and be hard to play against. Most importantly, we need to take something out of the good play we have had in games. "It has been a tough start. I am disappointed we have not won more games but it will change I have no doubt about that. "It shouldn't be that (United are reliant on likes of Rooney and Van Persie). "My job is to find a way of winning. It doesn't matter what style you have to find a way of winning." |

Manchester United will be looking for a second chance to kick-start 2014 when they host Swansea City in the FA CUP THIRD ROUND on Sunday. David Moyes’ men fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham in the Premier League on New Year’s Day and are enduring their worst home league form for more than a decade. United had won their previous six fixtures in all competitions and already have a victory over Michael Laudrup’s men to their name this season, winning 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium on the opening day of the campaign. The Premier League champions, who have not won the FA Cup since 2004, currently sit 11 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal, and the Scot may view this competition as a chance to snaffle some silverware in his first season in charge. Moyes’ side made it to the sixth round of last year’s competition, losing 1-0 to Chelsea in a replay after the sides had drawn 2-2 in the initial encounter. “We’re trying to win all the competitions,” he said in the build-up to the clash. “As far as I am concerned, we’ll do everything we possibly can to try to get through. “The cup is important to me, it always has been. I’m sure it’s important to every club. The longer you stay in the competition the more important it becomes. “If you’re a club like Manchester United you want to be involved in all the trophy-winning opportunities, and to not win the FA Cup for 10 years is something that’s a bit of a surprise.” For Swansea, this fixture marks the midway point of a Manchester triple header. The men from Wales suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday, and face United for a second time in the Premier League next weekend. They are currently on a run of seven matches without a win in all competitions, and two fixtures against United followed by the visit of Tottenham will not help their cause. Swansea lost at this stage to Arsenal last year after a replay though their focus that time around was on their ultimately successful League Cup campaign. United will be forced to do without Ashley Young (shoulder), while Phil Jones (knee), Rafael (groin), Marouane Fellaini (wrist) and Nani (hamstring) remain sidelined. Robin van Persie (groin and thigh) has returned to training but is unlikely to feature. Pablo Hernandez suffered hamstring injury in Swansea’s defeat to Manchester City, joining Michu (ankle), Michel Vorm (knee) and Nathan Dyer (ankle) in being ruled out of the clash. |

I dont know whats happening, but this is the 2nd time I'm creating this thread, after discovering the first one is no where to be found. |
Manchester United will be looking to maintain their winning run on Saturday when they take on Norwich City at Carrow Road in the Premier League. David Moyes' side have won their last five matches in all competitions and have recovered from back-to-back home defeats in the league at the start of the month with three wins in a row in the English top flight. That streak has lifted the Red Devils up to seventh in the standings with 31 points from 18 matches, eight points behind leaders Arsenal, and will head to Norwich having not lost on their last 10 trips away from Old Trafford in all competitions. On the other hand, Norwich are in the middle of a torrid run of form that has seen them win just once all month and three times since October. Chris Hughton's side will head into the home encounter on Saturday placed 14th in the league table with 19 points from 18 matches, just three points above the relegation zone. The Canaries will also be smarting from their 2-1 defeat to Fulham at home on Boxing Day despite taking the lead through Gary Hooper after just 13 minutes. I reckon the comeback at Hull has covered over the cracks at United. I know they're on a bit of a roll at the moment but if you go 2-0 down against a top eight side in this league you're not coming back. Norwich had a shocking result against Fulham on Boxing Day. I know I've said Fulham have turned the corner but it's a game you don't expect to lose, you think 'right, if we don't win we make sure we don't lose'. They will be really disappointed with losing that one. I saw Dwight Yorke say United can still win the title, but they can't in my eyes. I don't think they're good enough. They were all over the place when they were 2-0 down against Hull and when the big boys come knocking again I don't see how they can win it. They'll get three points here, though. |

faby11: whats the essence of being a christian if u can't live for others. How can you claim to have a relationship with God when you have not been able to establish one with your fellow menThough, the main Topic is getting diverted, but, let me drop some few things. It's good for a christian to live for others, but giving and sharing shouldn't be attributed to xmas only. As Pastor Kumuyi said, Jesus should be celebrated everyday. Considering the advantages Christmas holds while negleting the disadvantages isn't good enough. |
faby11: Those ways in which people celebrate xmas is a personal issue, that should not be used to judge the celebration of Christ's birth as being sinful. Moreover why is it that it is just the bad things that people do that you are interested in. What about the giving and sharing spirit that fills that day, what about the joys of the day. Why is it just the wrongs that people do that you see. Bro be positive a bit and forget about the brainwashing from your GENERAL OVERSEER (Apologies)If you carefully run through the pages on this thread. You'll discover that most of the issues you posted here had been addressed already. The bible says there is great Joy in Heaven over a sinner that comes to repentance. A roundabout way of writing this is 'There is sadness in heaven whenever a Christian backslides and returns to sin all in the name of Celebrating xmas (which is the reaso n why I capitalized on the bad effects). On the other hand, You said I'm being brainwashed by my pastor. I'm afraid, I'm not. If you can Just run through the pages, I'd already wrote the reason pastor Kumuyi labelled it as Idolatory. Lastly, You talked about the giving and sharing. What's the essense of the giving and sharing when the individual's heart isn't right with God? Giving and Sharing won't take anyone to heaven. It's the relationship with God that matters. |
faby11: But that does not mean that xmas celebration is evilBro, The question is, HOW IS XMAS CELEBRATED? Is it celebrated in an holy way. Do you celebrate Jesus by wining and dining? Do you do what will make Jesus happy on xmas day? Do you preach the gospel on xmas day? Bro, xmas is being celebrated in a worldly manner today. Guys celebrate it with girlfriends which is unscriptural and unholy. Some Adults celebrate xmas at clubs where worldly musics were played. The true essense of xmas had been totally forgotten. If you can just take a quick run at the pages in this thread? I had already addressed why Pastor Kumuyi called it Idolatory. |
donphilopus: Hull City shall WIN! LIKEhehe. 2 likes sharp sharp. So many man utd haters in the building. |
hotwax: So we should not acknowledge Jesus was ever born. Whats your argument here?Bro, u're compounding this issue. He simply said Christ should be celebrated everyday. And how do you celebrate him? Go out and preach the gospel. Celebrate him in a way you'll be rewarded when you get to heaven. Not unnecessarily holding a party. |
