I used to really enjoy reading your comments, but I have to say, today’s take feels a bit off.

I believe the current administration, and its determination to find incriminating evidence against PO, has been quite relentless. Yet, despite all that effort, nothing substantial seems to have come of it. You can hardly be more investigative than the EFCC or ICPC in Nigeria when it comes to financial crimes. These agencies have been deployed countless times to dig up something that would stick, but so far, nothing has really held water.

So, we’re left with two possibilities: either PO somehow committed the perfect crime and left absolutely no trail, or the explanations he has given actually have some credibility.

NB: I don't trust politicians, any of them. As the saying goes, “Show me an honest politician, and I’ll show you ten virgin prostitutes.” 😂

The 2009 “₦250 Million Cash” Incident

The controversy surrounding claims of “looted funds in the boot of Anambra state official car” stems from a highly publicized incident in 2009, during Peter Obi’s tenure as Governor of Anambra State.

What happened:
In June 2009, security operatives in Lagos intercepted an official Anambra State Government vehicle carrying ₦250 million in physical cash. Peter Obi was not in the vehicle. Reports identified the occupants as Peter Obi's media aide and other Peter Obi associates.

What happened to the money:
Following the interception, the Inspector-General of Police directed that the ₦250 million be deposited back into the Anambra State Government account while investigations were conducted.

Subsequent investigation:
The incident was subsequently subjected to further scrutiny, including an investigation by the Anambra State House of Assembly. The episode nevertheless remained a major controversy and has continued to be referenced in political discussions about Peter Obi’s record as governor.

Important distinction:
It is therefore more accurate to describe the episode as the 2009 ₦250 million cash controversy involving an Anambra State Government vehicle and Peter Obi as the governor of Anambra state
