aderonila18: As the OP has noted the problem starts from homes. You tell your daughter to wash your sons clothes even if they are almost the same age, you expect the girl to help in preparing food while the boy seats on his bum watching TV, the house is untidy and you tell your daughter to tidy it even though your son took part in creating the mess.....
That is the problem, from childhood boys in these region are raised to think that their sisters and in turn all women are their slaves and its so annoying how so many abnormal people think these things are normal. |

But you're lacking in some areas. You cannot tell me that Men are better in the job that's why they lead. No. In Nigeria for example.. Men lead in almost everything because women are always given very little or no chance to prove a point. |

there can. Never be gender equality so long you know and believe in the bolded .only the strong lead. You can't sit your stinking and lazy self down and expect the world to be handed to you on a platter of gold. We have strong women in every sector and we men are proud of them cos majority of them got there on merit. I'll advice you to work hard towards success on an individual note instead of following some dumb movement, chanting silly slogans and not doing the right things. did you even read my first post? Segeggs: Feminism will be taken serious if the amount of coal mine workers hits 1000 and we have female soldiers ranking close to 1/3. boy you're being totally pointless. Even the devil knows that there is a whole lot of differences between masculine and feminine jobs. About soldiers... If I was given charge to recruit 10 soldiers out of 50 males and 50 females, I'ud pick 7 males and 3 females. Some things are just too masculine for the feminine gender. But when it comes to freedom of making decisions and being leaders in the society... I don't see why women deserve so little of everything. |

FADEO: The bible categorically states that a man that cannot feed his family is worse than an infidel. Women are a blessing to our world. But considering a married couple, the man is the head of a woman but outside the married couple life no man (including me) is the head of another woman but the fact that a man don't have the resources to feed for his family does not negate the fact that he is the head of the household. If he is a lazy a$$, that another discussion. He will be termed a figure-head if he cant provide for his family.....lol.
Hope you get my point?
But for gender equality, we are not equally and am not saying men are higher than women but we are not equal. the gender that is higher depends on the personality involved. Finally... The most reasonable guy on nairaland! I wrote this piece not trying to promote a Gender equality that's not gonna be possible even for the next 50years. If you follow each line you'll see that I'm only talking about the way children should be raised. If from day one you start to make your daughters aware that they also have a better part to play in the society when they grow up, when they're grown up its gonna be useful to them. They would want to compete in all spheres of life and partake in every plan the male gender is carrying out. But if you start beating the drums of marriage and husband matters to them from a very young stage, they'll believe that of course somebody else will always be there to govern them when you're no longer around. That's why most women can't stand anymore or find it difficult to survive when their husbands are dead or far from them. |

FADEO: Gender equality or gender inequality is going to ginger strife for mastery. In as much am not in support of seeing a woman or the female folks as a subordinate being in the homo sapien and also as secondary being in the general public. I still strongly believe that when it comes to the family level. there is nothing to debate about, there is no gender equality in the family. The man is head while the woman is a HELP MATE not HOUSE HELP. It simply implies that the head is not useful without the body but the head bears a larger part of the sensory organs: the eyes, nose, tongue, ear including feeling that is jointly and largely shared by the remaining parts of the body.
I wont teach my daughters to be dependent and feel inferior to any man but i will teach them to respect and submit to their HUSBAND as instructed by the HOLY BIBLE as two things have always worked from ages past which are HUSBAND, LOVE YOUR WIFE and WIFE SUBMIT TO YOUR OWN HUSBAND.
We can shout gender equality from age to age but the truth is that our gender are not equal but that does not in any way diminish the quality and attribute of a woman as we are MATE and but one is HEAD and the other is HELP... what about the women who take care of the family, pay all the bills and feed and clothe both husband and children. who here then is the head? The lazy a$$ men that depend on their wives for everything or... what? some women even sponsor their husbands in school( one family I know, the guy's wife sponsored his masters degree program) The most annoying thing is that people don't even seem to recognize those type of women. no matter what they do, their husband's still get all the glory just cuz he's "the man" May God bless such women jare. |

Family › Re: Gender Inequality: Why Things Won't Be Normal. by swaggzo(op): 8:56pm On Oct 13, 2014 |
That's just it mate. This whole ish starts from the very first hour a female child is born into this world. And everyone one of use in the society contributes to it gradually until these little ones mature. I'm the only son out of 3 children. As the last also, I had the right to hit my elder sisters whenever I like.. just cuz I'm "the man". The trash didn't stop until I reached around 6.
As children then, my elder ones thought it was the right thing cuz... The grown people we first knew made it feel right.
All this is just to say.. gender inequality starts from the grass root of a child's life. If you take away fear from her view and train her like she's some kynda Venus god or Athena, she's gon grow up having a self will stronger than that of a man even. |

See them.. Fighting for the justice of the girl child. Yelling all sort of crap on TV about gender inequality and other trash talks that i can't take anymore.
I wasn't there when you bore your daughters. I wasn't the one who made them do all the kitchen work while your sons were busy laying around the house like sick dogs. I wasn't the one who constantly reminded them that someday they gonna be a secondary subject to their husbands. I wasn't the one who always made them feel that they don't need to study hard. Infact they don't even need to study at all cuz no matter how much they read a man's gonna come pick them up someday, and all that will be a waste of time, money, and knowledge. When they clocked 30 years of age, I wasn't there to tell them ugly stuff like "As old as you are, you're not yet married", "what are you waiting for?, do you want to marry your own father?". Even when they got married and there was no child in the house after sometime, you started to feel she was barren. Forgetting the fact that the man also has a role to play in that aspect. She took her marital issues online, hoping to find some help there since she felt its rather disgraceful to discuss with anyone physically, your only comment on her post was shiit like "you're a disgrace to womanhood". Making her shy away from sexuality, hiding her sexual life from the whole world including herself cuz she feels its not right for a woman to even have sex in the first place, not to talk of talking or even thinking about it. You made the life of your daughters so poor, that all they had to think about is marriage and submission to a secondary god (their husbands) from as early as age 16 or 17. That they cannot stand alone cuz they're too weak and always need men to represent them. Protect them. Talk for them and even decide for them. Implying that the male gender is superior and supreme. And suddenly now you want all these things to change? By what means, magic?
So you see, from the start of their lives this is what you have been teaching them. Making them from a very early stage, realize they ought to be a man's tool. Telling them that they have nothing much to offer in the future apart from being a man's life companion and bedmate, to bear and carry his children and to take care of the family.
......now that's feminism!
Start the Gender equality from there where you're standing, cuz every little thing you impact on these little souls (children) in our society counts.
I rest this case for now. |

The Arsenal and German star man could miss up to 3 months of action after it was discovered he has a tear in his ligaments just after his arrival for training with the German side in Germany. Mesut Ozil featured in Arsenal's 2-0 loss to chelsea last week in the premier league and could miss the rest of the fixtures in 2014 including National matches against Poland and a host of others.
To me, it's the most terrible thing that could ever happen to any player that has just recovered from injury and still struggling to pick form...... And now this! Get well soon Mesut. |
