mrmetoo1:
Some people have chosen to accept failure as part of their life. They have chosen to believe that Nigeria will remain in this perpetual pathetic backwards state. Those people I described have decided to vote for GEJ.
Those of us who hope that this country can be better, deserves to be better are voting GMB. People that know that with good governance all those things that the OP listed as impossible are very possible. A wise man said let no one make you think governing Nigeria will is rocket science. We just need a government that's willing and appoints the right people for the job. We have the resources both financial and human resources, so why would anyone want to convince me Nigeria can't be better.
A blind and ignorant gorilla.
UrennaNkoli:
You are 100%
WRONG.
There are 99 problems GEJ cannot presently solve in this country and Buhari is your saviour.....
Pls vote wisely.
Sai Buhari.
PoliticsRe: 3 Problems Buhari Cannot Solve if he's Elected by Sweetguy25(op): 3:12pm On Dec 14, 2016
Sweetguy25:
Solve our electricity problems: There's nothing Buhari can do about the electric power situation in Nigeria. Everything that needs to be done has already been implemented by GEJ. The power sector has been unbundled and sold to private investors, various institutions have been setup to streamline, stimulate and protect private sector investment in the power sector.
There's nothing Buhari can do about this but to watch and regulate the activities of the investors. If we eventually and successfully begin to get constant power supply in our homes, Buhari will only be taking GEJs shine and nothing else.

Buhari can't stop unemployment: There's absolutely nothing Buhari can do about the unemployment situation in Nigeria. The unemployment situation in Nigeria is a complex problem - from the lack of employers to lack of capable employees.

Think about it, we lack employers of labour; we need over 50,000 profitable businesses to be created over the next four years for us to be able to solve the unemployment problem. This is impossible to achieve.
We also lack capable human resources. Our education system throws out hundreds of thousands of half-baked graduates every year, most private organisations don't have the resources to start training these graduates to learn basic things they should have learned in school. So the graduates stay unemployable because they have little or nothing to offer to the employer.

We seem to be in a quagmire and I don't think the APC or Buhari can do much or better than the present government concerning unemployment.

Buhari can't stop corruption: Contrary to popular beliefs and opinions, Buhari cannot stop corruption in Nigeria. He may want to follow the popular OBJ style by prosecuting well known individuals and impeaching governors. This will only scratch the surface. He will also face the credibility issues OBJ faced while he was trying to fight corruption - which is the fact that he had corrupt people in his government whom he failed to prosecute while he was prosecuting others who were deemed to be his enemies.

Also, Buhari needs the support of the Judiciary to fight corruption effectively and lawfully. Following this process is painstaking and time consuming because court processes and procedures in Nigeria can drag on for years.
However, his disposition and stance towards corruption may sway public opinion to his favour which may make his government seem credible.
I no talk am?
PoliticsRe: The Long Gang Up International Conspiracy Against Nigeria by Sweetguy25: 2:49pm On Dec 14, 2016
But Nigeria sells oil to them and they pay right?

What you wrote makes no sense whatsoever. Where were you when the Chinese and the Indians were investing heavily in infrastructure and healthcare? Where were you when the Thais were in agriculture, education and infrastructure?

For the past fifty years Nigeria has been destroyed, disfigured, demolished by people like Gowon, Buhari and Babangida. This is the end product of a disfigured country. It is not an international conspiracy. The conspiracy is purely national and internal. Ask people like Gowon, Buhari, Obasanjo, babangida et al why they failed to invest in education, healthcare, infrastructure and ensuring a sustainable democracy.

What about pensions being paid to Gowon, IBB, Abacha and Buhari? Even IBB is currently collecting a pension as an ex president, Buhari was also collecting his.

This country called Nigeria is hopeless. Unarguably, Nigeria is a country with no hope of a bright future.

Truth is that he never committed any crime, just as @donaldtrump was washed by the media while hillary was being treated like an egg, the media has been bought by the powers that be to say thrash about ATIKU. I only hope we embrace the truth........... for me he is a good guy.
Atiku had the best manifesto for candidates seeking to contest the 2015 presidential elections. His plans were very sound but unfortunately, all Nigerians care about is voting a president who will fight corruption.
PoliticsRe: Nigerians Don't Actually Care About Fighting Corruption. See Why. by Sweetguy25: 4:19pm On Nov 17, 2016
omohayek:
This is the core reason why Nigerians don't care about corruption: it's not like the money being stolen is committing out of their wallets. Oil money is "free", so if those stealing it are "our son" or "our daughter", why should we mind? It's only a problem in the average Nigerian's mind when the looters don't happen to hail from his or her tribe - at which point it becomes a "witch hunt".

As long as most of the revenues of all tiers of the Nigerian government derive from oil, there will be absolutely no reason for the political class to consider themselves beholden to the masses, who in any case are easily swayed by tribalism, or bought off with "free" rice and groundnut oil on election day. Nigerian voters never ask of political candidates what their ideologies are, what their policy proposals will be, or how they can justify any stances they've taken in the past on issues of import; all that matters is where the candidate is from and what religion (s)he claims to practice. Is it any wonder then that the politicians we get are incompetent kleptomaniacs?
This is a reason but not the sole reason. About a half Lagos state's budget is funded by tax revenue. Going by your reason, this would mean that Lagosians would be more concerned about transparency and accountability in government but is that the case? No.

PoliticsRe: The Real Cause Of Nigeria's Political Leadership Failure by Sweetguy25: 3:46pm On Nov 17, 2016
The problem of Nigeria has gone beyond good leadership. Nothing would change even if a supposed good leader emerges as president.
Nigeria's problem is purely systemic and institutional.
The problems we are facing are problems that were left to fester for over forty years. The problems are now too enormous for even a good leader to tackle.
The sad truth is that nothing can be done about it. Nigeria had a very precious chance in 1999 but she blew it.

Trump's worse. Just imagine what Wailers would say were Buhari to bring his family into top government positions as Trump is planning to do. I remember a Wailer complaining this week that Zahra should leave Aso Rock and go find work; a Catch 22 for Buhari, cos should she have work immediately after her university, the father would be accused of influencing the situation while millions of graduates are roaming the streets for years.
You really didn't make any sense. Was Buhari a coupist and dictator whose actions made Nigeria suffer?
