This response by Akunyili is purely self serving. It does nothing for the image of Nigeria as a country. You have to be living on mars not to know 419 is Nigeria's export to the world. A look at the background of Akunyili does not inspire confidence in her sermon. While at Nafdac she legitimized the illegalities of death merchants by liberalizing the issuance of Nafdac certificates and product numbers for their wares. She created multimillionaires out of fraudsters hawking coloured pure water to the people in the name of magic cure-all medicines. A feat they attempted to duplicate in Ghana when they got kicked out by the Ghanaian Medical Association. She and her directors attempted to swindle the Nigerian people and govt of billions of naira by presenting proposals aimed at upgrading broadcast equipment for a football youth championship. It was discovered that the SA govt acquired similar equipment brand new for far less. Her defence was that the proposal was in the offing before she became minister. I wonder how she became prof while signing multi million naira cheques at Nafdac. Akunyili instead of constantly trying to find relevance is better off telling the world what she has done to clean up the sleaze and murk she sits on at the information ministry-that is what inspires confidence. |
This is a huge 'caveat emptor' to prospective buyers. They just made Oceanic bank very unattractive in one deft move. That is the true motive behind suit. Certainly not to reverse anything. |
The question is 'Can u you sue a bank for refusing to give you loan even if you met all these criteria and expect to win judgement? I think not for many reasons. The point is that these CEOs run these banks like gangstars. They do as they please and ask the boys to tidy up the books. When the CBN boys come around they ask them to name their price and business continues as usual. Now like the mafia, everyone is running helter skelter b/c a new cop has come to town that wont have it. @Topic With the result of this last audit neither here nor there it confirms my suspicion that the intervention of the CBN Governor is based purely on scapegoat/scare tactic. He is not in a position to approach the govt for any more money to facilitate his reforms and so which ever bank has issues now will be tactically ignored. Unless Sanusi wants pple making a run on these banks there will be no more names. |
Very awkward. I was 16. I visited my cousins (all females) and met a girl called Ronke who was their neighbor. I will probably not recall the most important things I did last week but this name will never leave my head. I took an instant liking to Ronke. By the time I left we were talkin and very friendly to the extent that one of my younger cousins jokingly called us husband and wife. This girl was beautiful and she cut me reeeaaaal deep (like they say). I could hardly sleep. I can remember buying and sending to her a mills and boon novel inspite of my selfish and scroogy self. And that was the end of everything. The next time I saw Ronke, she boned. Called her again she wont answer. I also got angry and I boned. Relationship duration approx 48hrs. Romance-0. Sex-0. She was to park from that neighborhood with her family not long after. As far as relationships go- been there, done that. But I have never forgotten Ronke. I was to learn much later that she had a mean step mother who got her into serious trouble on account of my gift.I wish I can get a chance to say 'I am sorry.' |

naijaking1:You can have their ass in custody while investigation is going on to unearth more evidence. Purely legal. He also has the right to contest his detention. Jarus:Yes its true that in Nigeria, some non EDs wield more influence over the day to day affairs of an organization |
, urs is almost an exact reflection of mine, though i wasn't that much of a reader, i was in the top five in my class back in sec sch, I was scared stiff checkin my O'level result , i jst had this fear , wat if everybdy did well and i failed.i waz praying for even "credits" , but behold second best O'level in ma sch, same happened with my UME, back den we didnt hv to take any post UME, i was the first of my group of frnds to chck mine, when i saw my score (mid two-hundreds) i was kinda dissapointed cos i thought my frnds wld do probably do beter, i even hid it frm them, they supposed i did terribly and felt sorry for me', after dey all checked, bam!!! , mine was highest, in ma sch for that year, needless to say i got into school on merit immediately after sec sch.
Needless to say, English almost threw in a spanner with a C6 (I did not see anything there was to read in this particular subject ) and I had not enroled for GCE which was the only safety net at the time b/c dad said there was no money or it will be a waste. |
I read like craze because I was afraid of failure and being left behind by my contemporaries. I desended on all the past Jamb questions I could lay my hands on and chewed them all to pieces. A lot of peeps who knew me felt I would pass easily but I wasnt so sure. Infact I thought I was going to fail (it would have been a first though ). The result came out and it was a blast (one of the best in Nigeria for that year). I like to talk about it b/c it is to me one of life's more elusive moments of glory. |

Arresting the bank chiefs is one thing, the seriousness of the offence and the weight of evidence is another. Which is why these agencies (CBN,EFCC) have to be on the offensive and let the people know otherwise it will further fuel speculation of a hidden agenda which will harm the affected banks even more. I have seen people question the logic of the CBN taking these steps (sacking CEOs) even though a complete audit of the banks have not been done yet. This is actually quite strategic. I think the whole Idea is to make example that will sink using the more visible personalities. Other CEOs will be working day and night now to retrieve such funds. This will reduce the amount required by the govt to intervene while achieving the same objective in the long run. Memunah:Gra gra is all it is. If he dares go to court all the stinking details will come out in the open. Intercontinental shares wont be worth the paper it is written on. He knows he stands to lose more than any one else. |
I feel your pain bro. Its hard to expect much from the Nigerian labour market as it is today. Our only viable industry now is corruption.Nothing else. Not the best of time to be a graduate school leaver. This has been true for sometime now. Think of what kind of service people need and see how you can render such service. Private home tutor, pest control, organized refuse disposal etc. Try and beat your own path. Dont look at the others. |
boobsy:But its unnatural to be alone. Every relationship has its challenges. It is better to be strong and learn how to addreess these challenges and resolve conflicts that sometimes arise. But all too often women pick on wrong examples, draw the wrong conclusions and throw in the towel without even trying. Sometimes they want to be like men which is also unnatural. |
@OP It will be one hell of a good hidden agenda. Meanwhile, we want more heads. |
Seun:Women are tolerant because it makes sense for them to be tolerant. If they chose to leave every guy they consider cheats, in no time they would have been with all the men there is to be with and I dont see how this helps the reputation of the woman as virtuous. In any case monogamy is the product of civilisation/modernization with a relatively recent history |
If only Farida Waziri and her EFCC will pay a fraction of the time and money spent chasing petty thieves to going after councillors, commissioners, Governors (retired and serving) ministers, reps and senators and other public servants, Nigeria will be better for it. These are soft convenient targets of the EFCC that are inconsequential to the big picture. Not impressed. |
eyonigger:It depends on the type of job that is at stake. You wont want to employ a seasoned stammerer to be a TV news anchor for instance or take in a stammering lawyer into a law firm you are struggling to build. If on the other hand what is required on the job hinges on non verbal skills, it will be easier to ignore. |
Theblessed:Irrelevant childish rant. 25K/mth is fair enough for a personal driver. Dont forget to carry out proper security check before you employ. |
INFOGOD:Isnt murder a bigger sin than cheating? @OP Perhaps you mean "Will you cheat for 1 million naira in a serious relationship". What kind of a dumb question is that? |
