currentprice: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Port Harcourt Zonal office, has recovered N1 billion from suspected Ponzi scheme fraudsters in the zone.
The head of the zonal office, Abdulrasheed Bawa, who disclosed this at a media briefing in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the commission recovered the said amount out of N2 billion the suspects collected from their victims.
He said men of the commission, after surveillance activities, arrested the suspects who, he said, promised their victims 10% monthly returns and payment of the principal after six months.
He said the suspects convinced their victims that they were into foreign exchange and crypto currency trading. Bawa also stated that the zone, in the last eight months, recorded 149 419 convictions, made N268,934,375.75, $2,012,568.00, and £15,000 recoveries while 162 cases are still pending in court

onegentleguy: A CHOICE BETWEEN UPDC and UACN... part 3
Away from the matter of the proposed unbundling, and safe for the reason I mentioned ealier, there are a couple of other reasons why I'd choose UACN ahead of UPDC. One such reason is the issue of RISK when put side by side with ones expected ROI. To help guage that, it would be nice to compare their ALTMAN Z-SCORE and relate it to their FVE(H1 2019 financial print in view) It's a fine way to permute from btw 2 or more coys where there is a divestiture, unbundling or merger/aquisation without a stipulated known pricing.
By the way, the ALTMAN Z-SCORE is an investment tool used to assess the risk-return(ROI discounting risk) profile of a company in line with an investors preference. The idea is to try to benchmark the risk inherent in a company against ur risk tolerance at any given time.
The formula for ALTMAN Z-SCORE is; Az= 1.2W + 1.4L + 3.3R + 0.6P + T
Where W is the company's NWC ratio(ie working capital pegged against total asset)
L is the leverage power of a company(their ability to finance their asset thru retained profit ahead of debt) Mathematically, L= retained earnings/total asset
R is ROTA(return on total asset). ...a measure of how well a firm can generate earnings from its assets.(I also love ZENITH, FCMB, CAVERTON, FO, UBA, AIICO, CONOIL, FIDELITY, GTB and LARFAGE WAPCO for this and of course, a few other reasons) R= EBIT/total asset
P is the price to book(P/B) of the coy.
While T is the total asset to turnover(used to checkmate how well a company's revenue/sales was generated from its assets) Mathematically, T= revenue/total asset.
In principle, its far much safer to invest in a company with a high or above peer average ALTMAN Z-SCORE than the low ones. The thing about de-risking means that it might sometimes be even better to invest in a rightly priced or even slightly overvalued asset with high Altman z-score than an underpriced asset with a much lower score. This partly explains why the price of GTB has consistently outperformed its direct peer ZENITH and priced @ a seemingly undeserving premium to it. ...and why a stock like NESTLE may not crash in price as some investors might expect.
Bottom line: UACN has a far better 'score' ahead of UPDC. So if one where to measure their risk against any expected return, the former makes far more sense to align with.
NOTE: The ALTMAN Z-SCORE though a powerful one, is only but one valuation tool. A combination of several key tools to valuation in line with ones investment PERSONALITY is still advised.
My take: UACN is a BUY(infact, accumulate) for us !! My advise: Pls kindly follow ur instinct.
Enough said !! Advanced stock analysis... |
