Cynthia: Police Arrest Two More Suspects 05 Sep 2012 Views: 8,035 Miss Cynthia Osokogu By Chiemelie Ezeobi The police Tuesday announced the arrest of two more suspects in connection with the murder of the 24-year-old Miss Cynthia Osokogu. The two new suspects arrested are Nonso Ezeike, the younger brother of Olisaemeka, and one Gideon Okechukwu, a driver that worked for the two main suspects THISDAY gathered that the police had traced the remaining suspects through the sale of the late Cynthia’s Blackberry Bold 5 (99100 Model) phone which she was dispossessed of by Nwabufo and Ezeike. Confirming the arrest, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, said detectives had tracked the movement of Nonso, Ezeike’s brother at Port Harcourt where he had fled to. He said Nonso, a graduate of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Federal University of Science and Technology (FUTO), Owerri, was arrested because he had sold the phone to an end user. Manko, who commended the efforts of the investigating team, said the police would continue to ensure that the public would be informed as the mysteries behind the murder is unravelled. Narrating how the suspects were arrested, he said: “We were having problems on how to get the late Cynthia’s phone which was missing after we had recovered other items from the suspects. “We then met the father of the late Cynthia who gave us her pin number. Armed with the pin, we started chatting with the person who was currently using the phone and he told us he bought it from someone. “We told him that we need the phone and we pledged to pay him back the money but the buyer said the phone was giving him problems and he intends to send it back to the person who sold it to him. “At that juncture, we traced the mast and discovered he was chatting from Port Harcourt but he had told us that he bought the phone from Lagos when we eventually got him online.” He added, “Few days later, he called to say he had returned the phone to the actual person he bought it from. We urged him to ask the person to return the said phone at Area E Command, FESTAC Town. “The person eventually came to our office with a lawyer to drop the phone and he was arrested immediately. Coincidentally, the man who came to drop the phone is a younger brother to the prime suspects who were already arraigned in court. He confessed to the police of having sold three phones given to him by his brothers at several occasions. He also confessed that he sold Cynthia’s Blackberry telephone for N68, 000.00.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/cynthia-police-arrest-two-more-suspects/124117/ |

I see alot of Cherokees on the road these days (1999-2004 models). Come to think of it they are relative cheap. How durable are Cherokee SUVs? How is their maintenance cost, second-hand value and reliability and comfort. I am contemplating on getting one for my Wife. Cherokee users and experts what are your views please? |
Jenwitemi: Are you a scientist yourself, syenite? Because you hardly sound like one to me. You sound more like a bible-head pretending to be a scientist behind your keyboard. No offense.Well, u are entitled to ur opinion. So Mr Parapsychologist/writer what do u have to contibute? |
Jenwitemi: Everybody seems to be geologist in here. I have counted like 5 so far. I am sure few of the so-called geologists ever did any field work judging by their posts. More like lab theory heads. So which profession(if any) do u belong to? And what is ur opinion(if any) on the subject matter? |
2good: What proof do you have for all the processes you are describing above authoritatively? Its obvious you have not been involved in research where you have to explain every occurrence you see and as long as you don't have proof, you do not insinuate. The extra things you are saying is just a way of Christians trying to look for the most ridiculous reason to try and tie scientific findings with the bible. The Muslim also try to do same, but at the end of the day, you just sound like a scaler quantity not understanding where you are coming from and going to.What proofs do you people also have for you to discredit the bible? I am a thorough scientist and I talk with assertiveness you can discredit that too if u want to. This is science and not politics. We talk based on principles, facts and realities. Give your live to christ. Jesus loves u too. |
logicboy: lol....the sun got it's powerful rays of light to earth through a scientific process taking millions of years. Doesnt that contradict the instantaneous "let there be light and there was light"?Pardon me but I later discovered that u are not a scientist. To the bolded, just like God said let the water separate from waters and Land abi? and next thing rush rush rush (like a cartoon) u just see water flying up and down and water rushing away from land. These are scientific processes that took place and are still taking place over millions of years not as instantaneous as you think. God said let there be light and he allowed the scientific porcesses to follow its course.Besides the bible does not give graphic details of events. When the bible said in the begining God created the heavens and the Earth it did not state all the processes involved and how long ok? O gush! this thing u are argueing u know nothing of it.Common don't be blinded! I remind u again that the bible does not lie! Give your life to Christ and you will never regret u did. My brother Jesus loves you. ![]() |
Let's look at this one as scientists.Yes, the processes that started the formation of the sun started just shortly before the processes that led to the formation of the earth.Do you consider how long it took the processes of formation of the Sun to come to a completion? Do you think that immediately the process started the rays from the sun became so large and bright enough to illuminate the solar system? I am telling you that For several millions of years after the earth was created the sun was at a primitive (not well developed) state. Hence, the light or rays being generated was not adequate to reach the earth, considering the distance of the earth from the sun.So the earth was left in the dark until the sun's rays were bright enough to light up the whole place. Think about that. The bible does not lie. |
The fact that you don't believe in something doesn't make it wrong. The bible might not give specific details due to lack of scientific knowledge as at time of Moses but the truth remains that no single word in the bible is a lie! |
logicboy: beating around the bush!My brother, the Earth was in darkness for several millions of years before sunlight came. Find out more. Argue like a scientist. |
logicboy: 3) The Sun is older than the earth, scientificallyThe Moon is believed to have formed about 4.6 billion years ago, with the rocks from mare regions sampled by the Apollo astronauts indicating a formation age for these features of about 4.1 billion years. The Earth is dated at 4.7 billion years ago by radioactive dating techniques. The Sun's formation probably continued through the era of planetary formation and ended when it became a T-Tauri star. Its accretion from the rotating core of the proto-solar disk probably began just before 4.7 billion years, and ended around 4.2 billion years. http://www.astronomycafe.net/qadir/q1895.html The accretion that led to the formation of the Sun Started just before 4.7bilion yrs ago and ended around 4.2 billion years ago.Is that making sense to u my bro? Being that the sun started forming almost when the earth was created and it took 0.5billion yrs ie 500million for the sun to develop completely, it shows that for several millions of years the earth was in darkness waiting for the sun to be fully developed. |
I am a Geologist by profession, been practising for over 7years part of which I majored in Micropaleontology which deals with study of ancient life and dating of rocks. So this topic is my Baby. There is a near 100% correlation between what the bible says and what Geology says. Take for instance in Genesis Chapter 1 vs 1-2: the bible says in the Begining God created the heavens and the Earth. Now the Earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Correlation of that part of scripture with Geology:Note that the book of Genesis was written by Moses. 1."In the begining God created the heavens and the Earth"-Moses the author did not know precisely when, he just said in the begining; Geologist also don't know exactly when the Earth was formed. The oldest rock discovered this far is about 4billion years old. The age of the Earth was estimated to be 4.5billion years + or - 0.2billion to accomodate for any other older rock yet to be discovered. Lesson is both the Geologist and Moses don't know the exact age of the earth 2."Now the Earth was formless and empty".Moses gave a very good discription of the earth here; According to the Geologist Shortly after the "big bang" that preceeded the formation of the earth, the earth was heated up and made of molten rocks which were fluid-like and u know fluids don't have a particular form, they take the form of the vessel they contain. Moses said "empty"; the geologist say lifeless. 3."darkness was over the surface of the deep" Moses could be discribing the "deep" as the various depressions, valleys, rifts etc. Darkness here means there was no sunlight. Geologically, the Earth is older than the Sun. Which means the Earth was existing in Darkness before God said let there be light. 4."and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters". The waters being discribed here could include the ancient seas and inland waters that existed prio to life. 5. Verse 3 of Genesis:1 says "let there be light and there was light light"-This corresponds to the formation the Sun that gives light and life to Earth. 6. Verse 6-9 of Genesis:1 describes how waters where separated from waters and waters separated from Land. Geologically this was when the atmosphere was formed separating the water in the atmosphere from that over the lithosphere i.e the hydrosphere. Water separating from land is Geologically desribed as Marine regression which is later usually followed by transgression- a cycle which is still in operation today! 7 Verse 11-12 of Genesis:1 describes creation of plants and Vegetation, Verse 20 describes the creation of the birds, Verse 21 God Created Sea creatures, verse 24 God created Land creatures. and finally verse 26 God said Let us make man. The Geologists should look at the Geological time scale following the evolution of life and events sequence from Paleozoic to Recent and see if it does not tally with the sequence as described from Genesis 11-26! 8 On the issue of timing of the total creation sequence which to me is the only major Difference, the bible says 1 day in the sight of God IS LIKE and not IS 1,000 years in sight of Man. Author of that scripture was using that to describe how Magnificient God is. The Author does not know precisely the scale of convertion (and no living creature on earht today knows). He could easily had written 1 million yrs or 10million yrs and that would easily have been established today. 9 All the earth quakes, Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Volcanic Eruptions of today have been in existence for millions of years and were created by God and not Geologists!! I believe in the Almghty God - the Maker of the Heavens and the Earth. I rest my case for now. Any questions? Criticisms are welcomed. NAPE-Our Ideas find Oil and Gas! |

By Obinna Chima The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has said it will begin the process of selling the three nationalised banks - Mainstreet Bank Limited, Keystone Bank Limited and Enterprise Bank Limited - before the end of this month. AMCON’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Mustafa Chike-Obi, said this at the sidelines of a bankers’ committee meeting in Lagos yesterday. He said to put the process in motion, the corporation would this month place an advertisement that would guide the public and interested investors on how the banks would be sold. He said when kick-started, the process would have a gestation period of 12 to 18 months. “The process of selling the nationalised banks will start this month. We are going to put out advertisement on how to sell the nationalised banks. We would ensure the process is transparent and runs its course, but the process would take about 12 to 18 months. “It is a level playing field, everybody, both local and foreign investors, will have a chance to invest, but the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will have to approve the investors,” he stated. Chike-Obi also disclosed that N600 billion bad debts had been recovered from debtors. According to the AMCON boss, N100 billion had been recovered by the corporation this year. AMCON had previously put the total value of bad debts at N3.14 trillion. “We are recovering the debts at a faster rate as expected and our target is to recover N1 trillion this year. About another N2 trillion in debts will be pending to be recovered. Every debtor must pay what they owe,” he said. Responding to enquiries on how much of the recovered debt had been invested in the capital market, he explained: “We have an investment policy in AMCON and we try to invest the money in such a manner that we will get the best return and at no cost to the government. We invest in so many things.” Following the withdrawal of the banking licences of the defunct Afribank (now Mainstreet), Bank PHB (now Keystone Bank) and Spring Bank (now Enterprise Bank), the CBN sold the three bridge banks that were created in the process to AMCON, through a subscription agreement. Chike-Obi had informed THISDAY in an interview last August that about 16 investors – international and local - had expressed interest in the three banks. Earlier, the CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, who was with the Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs. Mobolaji Johnson, revealed that the minister had made a presentation to the bank chief executives on how to use digital technology to achieve financial inclusion. Sanusi said: “We are looking at how we can use our telecommunications roll out to get access to the rural people and how we can use that to give them financial inclusion and development. “You can use telephones for things like maternal healthcare, agriculture and purchase of fertilisers, and change the lives of people by addressing poverty.” The CBN governor insisted that the new cash-lite policy had been effective under the pilot phase in Lagos State. “You were in Lagos during the ‘Occupy Nigeria’ protest for the whole week, did you see anybody complain about cash? For seven days, the banks were closed, nobody complained about cash. “Throughout those demonstrations in Lagos, the ATMs were flush with cash, the Point of Sale (PoS) terminals were working. It was fantastic! Nobody complained.” Briefing journalists at the end of the meeting, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Access Bank Plc, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, described the cash-lite policy as a serious venture for banks. He said the challenge(s) that bank customers might face with the policy would soon be tackled, even as he cited the case of mobile phone operations. Also speaking, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria, Mrs. Bola Adesola, said a sub-committee on women empowerment had been set up. She said the committee, which was inaugurated yesterday, would ensure that female business owners are well supported. On his part, CEO, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Mr. Philip Oduoza, provided clarification on why the communications technology minister attended the meeting, explaining that that was in order to see how her ministry could collaborate with the banks on broadband access. “We looked at her presentation and saw a lot of synergy on both ends. Finance is required to support her initiatives towards building a robust ICT system, especially as the country is migrating from analogue to digital technology by 2015,” the UBA boss added. http://www.thisdayonline.com/ |
