Britishpea: Good analysis.
The most affected people don’t know all these and this is why it’s paramount to sensitize people by organizing town hall meetings every month.
Obj did it during his tenure. Some governors did it. I remember Oyinlola of Osun and Baba Akande did it.
This will give people sense of reasoning. Else people would think they are being looted as usual. The trust in the system is low thus a government can’t act like they should trust him already.
However, if you ask Tinubu today, he would tell you that he made a mistake by announcing subsidy removal the way he did.
These are tough policies that Nigerians are not used to. It would be strange to them just like a malignant in the body.
Nigerians are used to cheap living, though, they don’t know. This is why this is taking a toll. And without this decisions, there won’t be a country in the next 30 years.
But government need to give constant sensitization in accompanying with reliefs. which hope are you talking about ? I When people see how politicians are busy embezzling the public treasury and living a luxurious life and are walking freely? First start by cutting of governance until things are in proper order . People are going to bed on empty stomach whereas some are busy lavishing our national treasury. Analysis like this always make feel like crying because definitely you don't know what people are going through |

It baffles me how Nigerians spend millions for their wedding but after the wedding they will start looking for a hundred thousand to start up a business.
You owe no one explanation on why you choose to do a low budget wedding because none of those whom you impressed with your wedding will come to your rescue when you are looking for support.

chccho: I dont usually buy all the servicing materials at once. I would usually buy oil filter first, then later 1litre of oil, and then later the 4litre oil. All this can be done within 2months. I once changed my oil and filter myself at home and its not a biggy as long as u have the right tools, although to change oil/filter at some filling stations is btw 2500-3k so u can just save yourself the stress and let them do it instead. I don't usually change my filter unless there's need for that, I can use my oil filter for more 5 years without changing it unless the engine had serious issue or water that enters the engine. Changing oil filter is mostly a scam. |

Is like comparing a child with an adult about their achievement in life 🙁🧬
Don't be one sided we are just trying to enlightene ourselves.. It's not about how old our independence is but how are we sustaining it? The way Nigeria is going even after 1,000 years it will be worse because our own case is people are greedy and don't have the interest of the country at heart. It's a case of before you enter elementary one your hand must touch your opposite ear during our time but now a child of one year will be enrolled into school so in this present generation a child of 5 years can do what you were unable to do when you were 25 because of technology. If Nigerians removed greed this country will be better than UK within 10 years. |

nairalanda1: To be honest, there is no such thing as cheap fuel
Fuel costs money to make. Unless Nigerians are ready to pay the type of tax that can maintain a subsidy on fuel, or unless we can produce up to 30-40 million barrels of crude a day, with oil prices above 120 dollars per barrel, fuel cannot be cheap again.
The question I'm asking here is that if Nigerians were buying fuel cheap because the government was paying the subsidy which they claimed was the reason why our external debt was going higher and our foreign reserve wasn't growing why then is the debt still going higher instead of reducing and our foreign reserve not growing?
It has nothing to do with politics, and everything to do with costs associated with running a profitable refinery. |

There's a place in Nigeria that eats human being till today that I witnessed. But because people always ask you to present an evidence for them to believe which is always very difficult made people to always stay calm and ignore. Things that happened which is always shameful people will never admit because it's always very difficult to prove it. You can imagine so many people testifying that they had witnessed the incident yet they they will still ask you to provide an evidence. |
Politics › Re: FG May Pay N1.68tn Fuel Subsidy, Marketers Forecast N900/litre by Sylva2147: 5:36pm On Sep 24, 2023 |
nairalanda1: Subsidy is one of the things contributing to our debt. And since politicans make the decision to keep subsidy and have done so since 1999, it is still their fault
( Other things that keep us in debt is the fluctuations in oil price, import dependency and massive looting and corruption. Failure to diversify the economy worsens the matter).
If we had kept petrol at N65 since 2011, by now subsidy costs would have been running between 900 to 1000 per liter, up from 34 naira in Dec 2011. And we would have been paying for the thing from other parts of the budget.
Nothing like cheap fuel All these points raise doesn't add up because the father of all is corruption. Nigeria is an oil producing county therefore the citizens should benefit from it massively, if the sale of the oil is being put to proper use I don't think our refineries would have been grounded. The politicians should stop milking our resources and see how the country bounce back in year or two. Nigeria shouldn't be borrowing money ideally, the money politicians loot every month is more than what they would have used in paying for subsidy of a whole year. |

Nothing like cheap fuel Leave that story because fuel subsidy is the only thing that every Nigerian benefits from. Subsidize fuel or not the money that was supposed to be used for the subsidy will eventually be syphon so what are we saying? If they like let them use 10k per liter for fuel subsidy. No good roads, medical facilities, electricity yet you said common subsidy that everyone is benefiting from is a bad idea, says who? |
Politics › Re: FG May Pay N1.68tn Fuel Subsidy, Marketers Forecast N900/litre by Sylva2147: 8:33am On Sep 22, 2023 |
nairalanda1: At the end of the day, the APC government was always in support of subsidy.
Nigeria cannot afford subsidy again. If we had kept subsidy since May 29, and fuel remained at N195, by now, subsidy costs would have risen drastically, and government would have either been taking loans from other parts of the budget to pay for the subsidy, or taken more loans, or declare force maejure, and the market would end up having scarcity.
We keep making the same mistake every time, all in the name of cheap fuel
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS CHEAP FUEL. Fuel costs money to produce. But because we want the poor to breathe, we use tomorrow's money to pay yesterday's costs.
Ah well, everyone should be 'happy' now.
Don't complain when the debt rises, and when we don't have refineries again.
(Yeah, like it makes sense to sell fuel at N617 when it costs N900 in reality. Apparently believing that it is wrong to sell fuel at a loss means you are an oppressor, and hate Nigerians. Well, anyone quoting me to tell me that I am wrong....WOULD YOU sell your goods at a loss to let the poor breathe? )
Am out. . Subsidizing fuel is not what is keeping the country in debt rather the politicians. |

No one was able to prove amongst them that they have a higher number of votes than Tinubu
Their main arguement is on technicalities and legal interpretation i.e the Abuja 25% issue
The primary objective of both Obi and Atiku is to disqualify the candidature of Tinubu base on academic discrepancies and his supposed crime of forfeiture.
Putting all these together, I think both Obi and Atiku's case will be thrown out Congratulations SAN & JUDGE of the tribunal. |
