There are traffic lights everywhere in Portharcourt but they had to be put off as they created more chaotic traffic situation than solutions. Use of traffic wardens proved to be more effective in this town. So OP take your propaganda to the cleaners
you are lying and you know it! If not take a pic of any traffic light to see in port harcourt and post here. Working or not.

You need power to run traffic light, whose responsibility is it to provide power
who provides all the power used to power street lights during the corrupt peter odili era?

Omimah:
I wonder if those that commented before me have been to Port Harcourt. The last time I was there I saw traffic lights in Ikoku, GRA Junction by NDDC, Waterlines, Garrison, Artillery, Rumuola, Aba- PH Road by Kaduna Street by Corpus Cristi Cathedral, etc. In fact the ones here had been there when I was passing there in the early 1990's, even when there were none elsewhere. The place became popular to the extent that till date it is still referred to as "traffic light." Ask any person or tell a cab to take you to "traffic light."
when was the last time you were in port harcourt because I will repeat it. There is no single traffic light. Even on azikiwe road, the road leading to the government house. And aba road, the busiest toad in the city.

Politics / There Is No Single Traffic Light In Rivers State. by Symphony007: 8:38am On Feb 23, 2015
It should be noted that there is no single workable traffic light in the city of port harcourt and rivers state in general, instead we have traffic wardens at some designated zones in the city for a few hours, after which it is free for all, it is amazing there has'nt been a massive car pile up....it should be noted at even at the height of the corrupt peter doilies govtmernment, the state could boast of basic amenities like this but today the second richest state in the country can't and I can't remember the last time the state governor stepped foot in his state or passed the night at the government house, to the point police hardly station in front of the brick house anymore because at last who are they guarding? HONEST and NON PARTISAN residents of port harcourt can attest to this shameful and disheartnening facts.

Politics / Re: What's The Difference Between The Senate And House Of Representative? by Symphony007: 4:47pm On Feb 20, 2015
Very complex but basically the perform distinct functions, the senate has exclusive preserve over foreign policy, ratification of treaties and the approval of presidential nominees in the federal government. While the house has exclusive preserve over money bills, only they can pass a budget...the senate concurs, only they can impeach the president, only they can appropriate supplementary budgets..infact they are the purse keepers of the nation amongst others. these are a few differences but due to the immaturity of the Nigerian government. You can't tell that is why a unicameral legislature can still work and will be more cheaper.

Religion / Cardinal Francis Arinze Secretly Blast Pope Francis Liberalism. by Symphony007: 9:49pm On Feb 19, 2015
It is not a secret any more that Pope Francis is in a journey to redefine Roman Catholic Church and to make it more inclusive in a likeness of a liberal religious institution. This move by Pope Francis is not going well in the circles of traditionalists and conservatives in the church.

Recently Pope Francis criticism on capitalism has raised some eyebrows  but his utterances on the just concluded Third Vatican Council he convened to “finally finish the work of the Second Vatican Council,”  which was concluded in 1962 was challenged by the conservative Nigerian Cardinal Francis Arinze.

Pope Francis was too radical for Cardinal Arinze to stomach in a speech he made at the conclusion of the Third Vatican Council in Rome. Pope Francis was quoted saying, “All religions are true, because they are true in the hearts of all those who believe in them. What other kind of truth is there? In the past, the church has been harsh on those it deemed morally wrong or sinful. Today, we no longer judge. Like a loving father, we never condemn our children. Our church is big enough for heterosexuals and homosexuals, for the pro-life and the pro-choice! For conservatives and liberals, even communists are welcome and have joined us. We all love and worship the same God.”

The Pope Francis further said that , “modern and reasonable religion, which has undergone evolutionary changes. The time has come to abandon all intolerance. We must recognize that religious truth evolves and changes. Truth is not absolute or set in stone. Even atheists acknowledge the divine. Through acts of love and charity the atheist acknowledges God as well, and redeems his own soul, becoming an active participant in the redemption of humanity.”

He continued, “Through humility, soul searching, and prayerful contemplation we have gained a new understanding of certain dogmas. The church no longer believes in a literal hell where people suffer. This doctrine is incompatible with the infinite love of God. God is not a judge but a friend and a lover of humanity. God seeks not to condemn but only to embrace. Like the fable of Adam and Eve, we see hell as a literary device. Hell is merely a metaphor for the isolated soul, which like all souls ultimately will be united in love with God.”

On the racism that was ravaging the world especially on the stiff border that Europe setup  to stop undocumented  migrants into Europe, Pope Francis said, “Racism today is the ultimate evil in the world. When Italians, Spanish or French turn back the boats of African migrants seeking a better life, are they not like the inn keeper who told Mary and Joseph that there was no room for them and the infant Christ? These migrants are children of God and we are commanded to love them!”

Then Pope Francis said, “Those who would dare to turn immigrants away, be they legal or undocumented, turn their backs on Christ himself! A racist is not a true Christian. A racist casts aside his humanity to become a beast, a demon! He is the embodiment and personification of evil, a Satan!”

Pope Francis further stressed “because Muslims, Hindus and African Animists are also made in the very likeness and image of God, to hate them is to hate God! To reject them to is to reject God and the Gospel of Christ. Whether we worship at a church, a synagogue, a mosque or a mandir, it does not matter. Whether we call God, Jesus, Adonai, Allah or Krishna, we all worship the same God of love. This truth is self-evident to all who have love and humility in their hearts!”

Pope Francis dropped the big one, “those who seek to deny a home to the migrant, to the African and the Muslim, risk their membership in the church. We will consider excommunication for those whose souls willingly dwell in the darkness and evil of intolerance and racism. Satan himself is a metaphor or a personification, for the collective evils of mankind. Today, these evils manifest foremost as racism, intolerance, religious persecution and bigotries of all kinds.”

Many conservative and traditionalists did not lie low and allow the Pope Francis to have the global stage by himself. Powerful cardinals and top leaders in the church spoke up and lambasted Pope Francis on his progressivism.  Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria was in the vanguard of the rebuttal to the pope’s speech.

Cardinal Arinze of Nigeria questioned, “What do we stand for if we declare that truth is relative? On the contrary, truth exists independently of our personal feelings. All of this talk of love and tolerance is hollow if we have no identity of our own, if we stand for nothing. I charge that Francis has become a heretic, and that he is not a valid Pope. Indeed, Francis is no longer even a Catholic. The seat of Saint Peter is vacant. I am now a Sedevacantist. I should have become one long ago. The Vatican has embraced ecumenism in the past, but worse than that, it has now embraced moral relativism on abortion and homosexuality. At the same time it is embracing moral absolutism in favour of illegal immigration and cultural genocide against Europe.”

Cardinal Arinze was vehement in his rebuttal and he said “Islam has overrun my own country, and now it threatens to overrun Europe. Some parts of Nigeria now live under Islamic Sharia law. Catholics there are no longer free to practice their faith publicly. Francis is a fool if he thinks that his liberal immigration policy will end well. He has betrayed western civilization. Vatican City will one day become a giant mosque if things continue in Europe along their present course. Those in the West who ignore this truth, do so at their own peril.”

With logic and calculation, Cardinal Arinze even supported Europe’s immigration policy and said, “There is nothing wrong with Europeans who want to protect their borders. The problem is that there is not enough border control and the immigration policies are far too lenient in Europe. Is it racist to desire to preserve one’s own home? Why is it racist to want to preserve your own culture and a future for your people and your children? Have white people gone stupid today?”

Kerry spoke in Davos as he gave an address to global business and political leaders on countering violent extremism.

Politics / The Utter Hipocrisy Of Charlie Hebdo And The Western Media. by Symphony007: 3:25pm On Jan 18, 2015
Since the murder of charlie hebdo writers in France weeks ago, we have heard endless lectures from the western media about how freedom of speech must be upheld, not compromised. The media has hailed charlie hebdo as a bastion of free speech and encouraged them to write more offensive satirical cartoons of the most respected man in Islam(mohammed) having anal sex or pregnant Muslim women carrying bombs in their hijab. But when it comes to judaism and then nation of Israel, free speech be dies not apply. Thoughts shall not speak again isreal, the same hypocrites at charlie hebdo calling themselves defenders of free speech in 2009 sacked one if their cartoonist for drawing an anti semite cartoon of former french president son Nicholas sacokozy, pulled down the cartoon and apologised for it, the same media chanting songs of free speech and calling out " Islamic intolerant extremist " are today asking for the sack if BBC reporter nick wilcox for daring to ask a Jewish woman about isreal treatment of Palestinians, the same media has caused CNN veteran reporter, Jim clancy to resign because if a alleged anti semite post on twitter.....so here is the message from the west and it's cronnies. Islam should stop being extremist and take a joke! Uphold freedom of speech, but don't dare extend that joke or freedom to isreal. Noted!!!

Jonathan is aggressive! I have never seen him like this before, that is because it is a war between two olodo and the olodo with a little sense is winning. If APC had a better and charismatic candidate, Jonathan will be shaking in his booth but at this rate Jonathan who was scared to debate before will tear the old general who thinks he can single handedly stabilize oil from limb to limb.
Politics / Progressives Or Regressives? by Symphony007: 7:30pm On Jan 13, 2015
I really had great hopes for the APC, I thought they meant business until they picked buhari as their candidate for president, an empty old member of the old guard who has nothing to offer nigeria, a man so out of touch and lacking charisma that you see it in his dull speeches and stunning gaffs like "I will stabilize oil price as president". APC missed an opportunity to offer nigeria real change that will not only unseat the PDP government but really deliver that 21st century change this country deserves. Nothing says PROGRESSIVE as putting up a 1970's washed up military dictator to deliver CHANGE. The irony beyond stunning!!
